1/1/2015
guest Just returned from a trip to Europe... spotted these in London and a bright MC Red in Helsinki:

1/1/2015
guest Those are some beautifully clear photos Newscutter. Thank you!
1/1/2015
guest Saw two on SB Stephenson/Rochester on the way home today, less than 8 minutes apart. It's only the second time I've had two random sightings in one day.
I saw the driver of this steel grey as we passed and he wasn't looking my direction, so I assume he didn't notice my car. It wasn't SteelGrey, who I met at my work at the beginning of this month.
I thought this one from exactly two weeks earlier just a couple miles south was the same one I saw today, but the wheels don't look the same.

1/1/2015
guest Just a guess--but if you ask your service center for the badge numbers, they will probably give them to you.
1/1/2015
guest Yeah... seems like nobody can get clear pics like that of the Model X mules.
1/1/2015
guest I rather have no badge and keep people guessing. Also, it's kind of an early adopter badge of honor to run with no model numbers.
1/1/2015
guest EXACTLY what I have been wondering... it isn't like I have any outrageous gear or skills...
1/1/2015
guest That's sarcasm, right? Don't think too many people have a 60D in their pocket, although if I lived near Tesla, I would definitely keep one in the car.
1/1/2015
guest Hey now, it wasn't all that long ago that most cameras were SLRs.... then people started to rely on their phones as cameras. Which they're not. They. Are. Not.
(Though the old adage that the best camera is the one you have closest is certainly applicable...)
1/1/2015
guest Phone cameras have come a long way. I wouldn't be so quick to dismiss them.
The only time lately that I use my SLR is when I want to print the photos. For the other 99% of shots, it's phone camera.
1/1/2015
guest spotted this on the 210 east, if you got a p85 and REALLY want to get into the HOV lane, at least give it the beans if there is already a car behind you...

Edit: oops, took a SLOW-er look and realize now the last letter wasn't a 'w'. <facepalm>
1/1/2015
guest Just saw a beautiful burnt orange Tesla on Anaheim Blvd heading onto the 91 East on-ramp. Really unique color. Couldn't tell if it was a wrap or paint.
1/1/2015
guest It was probably dennis.
1/1/2015
guest Had the pleasure of meeting HalfDollarBill at the Indianapolis Supercharger this afternoon. My first supercharger trip, so I caught a sighting of myself too...

1/1/2015
guest Beautiful picture - was it taken with a drone?
1/1/2015
guest Yep! You can see the reflection in the sunroof. Wish I was about 3 inches further into the car so the shadow was in the black part of the pano. Would have also liked to get a bit more of the Supercharger shadow. Next time
1/1/2015
guest Pennsylvania car spotted in Tampa today.

1/1/2015
guest I had to go all the way to Indiana to finally get rewarded with a forum spotting
And Let's Go Fast is thinking to himself, "Yes, that is a great picture but the car is not quite centered between the lines."
1/1/2015
guest Somehow you managed to be the first green car picture in daylight that looks black to me.

1/1/2015
guest A day late, but here's one we had from breakfast after a C&C a while ago.
1/1/2015
guest The really funny part of that day was that the three of them dressed in red, white, and blue, but none of them matched their cars. There are a couple more pics with outfits matching cars and owners matching cars.
1/1/2015
guest And none of us did that on purpose. That was pretty weird, but so are we so...

guest "In Musk I Trust"... Great plate frame!
1/1/2015
guest That's FLDarren, but now it says "In Elon Musk I Trust", I think.
1/1/2015
guest He already said goodbye to the burnt orange dip?!?
1/1/2015
guest That was before the dip.
1/1/2015
guest Now I know why my ears were burning this morning. I'm almost certain that pic was taken the morning of the Drive Electric Event in Oldsmar Florida last August.
FYI, peeling most of the dip this week. Got something cool and unique planned for next week.
1/1/2015
guest I've had that frame on there since day one. Except I modified it to say In (Elon) Musk I Trust. I thought people might have thought I loved the scent. Now they have something more to google if their curious.

1/1/2015
guest Just returned from Scandanavian vacation. Saw 3 or 4 Teslae in Stockholm, including a P85D on Birger Jarlsgatan near my hotel. Teslae all over the place in Copenhagen, but thought the brown deserved a pic. This also near my hotel on Dronningen Tvorgatan. There was also a blue in a parking lot nearby. Custom wheels seem popular in Copenhagen.
1/1/2015
guest Saw one stranded on the side of I-5 today - somewhere between Tejon and Harris. Looked like it had a shredded tire. (I was driving my ICE car in the left lane in a pack of cars and trucks at, ahem, "keeping up with traffic" speeds. So could not take a photo or offer help.) My daughter then asked me why Teslas didn't have a spare tire...
1/1/2015
guest today was a fruitful day for model S watching.
a red 85D on the 210 east.

1/1/2015
guest I was like the call of Grays today. My gray Model S was going through the Myers Park area of Charlotte, heading south from downtown on Providence Road. I spotted an oncoming Gray Model S when I first entered Myers Park. Stuck my hand out the window and waved and got a wave back. As I kept driving, I came across another Gray Model S when exiting Myers Park. I was doing grocery shopping in Myers Park earlier today. Had they been too, it would have been quite the coincidence!
1/1/2015
guest Actually not so random but the new San Mateo supercharger is getting a lot of use. That's MarcG's red P85D there.

1/1/2015
guest This was taken a few weeks ago. I procrastinated on putting it here. It was taken in Reading, PA in Wyomissing. Anyone here?
Then on 7/13/15, I saw a Model S as I was making my 2015 Subaru Outback video (a good gas car, but nonetheless a gas car).
Here is the Subaru video in case you want to see. At the very end, you get to see the Tesla.
1/1/2015
guest No pictures, but, for the last two days, there has been a red S in the line to pick up kids at school in Dallas, TX. It still had the "Zero Emissions" plate on it. Damn, that thing was pretty!

1/1/2015
guest Saw a grey on NB Rochester north of Square Lake at 9:12 this morning. I think it flashed because I caught a glimpse of the DRL brightness changing as it passed me, but not sure since it was raining. Unfortunately, my dashcam wasn't recording for some reason, so no pic.
1/1/2015
guest I was at Arista Networks in Santa Clara today. You'd expect I'd see a Tesla, right? I mean, Silicon Valley.. you can almost hit Fremont with a rock from here.
You'd be right! There are chargers in the parking lots... Volts, Leafs, and 7 (!!) Teslas. Including a decked out Red P85D.
In my meeting later on, I was gushing about the 7 Teslas in the parking lot, but no one else seemed nearly as excited... I guess they're not rare here.
1/1/2015
guest Right. Anyplace you drive on the peninsula expect to see several on the way.
At Whole Foods yesterday in San Mateo there were 5 charging when I arrived.
I really did not expect an SC in San Mateo, but... there it is!
1/1/2015
guest I randomly spotted the @BenJerrysTour Save Our Swirled Tesla in Washington, DC's Chinatown on Friday. Alas, both driving so no pics - and no free scoops :-(

guest Came back to my titanium S at Alderwood Mall in Lynnwood, WA to find this ocean blue S with BC Canada plates parked out in the north 40 with me. Looks great in the sun.
1/1/2015
guest Two gorgeous vehicles! If I bought new today, I would probably get Titanium, but I surely would be looking hard at the new Blue.

guest I was out of town for a while. My daughter spotted this green Model S in our town (Ithaca) heading North on Route 13, near the Ithaca Shopping Plaza on July 10. (You can see the Taco Bell in the background.) I think there's a pretty good chance it is TMC user zhenya's father's Model S.
While in Las Vegas, my wife and I spotted this silver Model S heading east on West Flamingo, towards the strip at about 6:10 PM on July 18. It didn't have a model badge, but looked like it had current sensors, as well as that funky light strip in the hatch.

1/1/2015
guest I thought all Model Esseses had that light strip in the hatch???
1/1/2015
guest Yep all of them do, that funky light strip is part of the brake lights for Model S.
1/1/2015
guest OK, well I feel foolish.
For some reason that just looked funny to me. You can tell I haven't been behind too many Model Ss, and of course I'm never behind my own!
1/1/2015
guest Saw this when I picked my car up from the San Diego SvC

1/1/2015
guest Company car from the Bellevue store at the Burlington supercharger. Kind of like the graphics.
1/1/2015
guest Great day for Tesla sightings in the midwest... especially since we brought the minivan to visit family this weekend :scared:
Spotted a white 85 charging at Springfield IL Supercharger after a family member said "I NEVER see another Tesla over there except when you come to charge." And then, on the way back through town we spotted the Tesla Midwest crew, charging up on the way to the Lake Michigan meetup. Thanks everyone for helping my family to see that I'm not alone (or crazy?) for owning an electric vehicle The last 3 are on 72E just past the supercharger so I assume you all were heading back over to 55N to head up to Chicago? Have fun, hope to join you next year!

guest kinda of a WAY out of the way location for two teslas to cross paths. [my aunt lives near there.]
1/1/2015
guest My wife spotted a dark blue Tesla with a road trip sign on it at the Rocky Mount, NC supercharger. By the time she picked us up from the restaurant he was gone :-\
1/1/2015
guest Yeah. I live in the area. I suspect it's the same one I've spotted near there a few times before, quite possibly a resident of my town.

guest Another sighting of sorts in Europe, this time at the Vienna airport:
Gotta spend 15 euros on food or 50 euros on shopping to enter to win a 70D!

1/1/2015
guest Here's a beautiful white Model S cruising between Yas and Saadiyat Islands in Abu Dhabi. The Model S looks gorgeous in white with dark window tints.

1/1/2015
guest Spotted another white MS from our hotel near Opernring in Vienna:

1/1/2015
guest Random white tesla parked outside last night (in my usual spot). There were 2 parked right next to each other. The other was black (missed getting a pic.).
Was interested to know what Tint this owner used. (Back window did not look like 3M).

1/1/2015
guest driving home today on the 134 eastbound i saw a black tesla with lovely grey 21" wheels at the san rafael ave freeway onramp traffic control lights. though wow, i love the way the grey 21"s wheels look. then the front end lifted and he started to gain speed. looked very fast.
the tesla stayed behind me and got off at one the 210 interchange. i tried to get a glimpse of the rear for the badge identifier but the angles were not working. im 85% sure it was a p85d given the bulk of the badge and the way it exploded to speed.
1/1/2015
guest At Lunchtime today on the I5-North, I saw a really nice new blacked out black P85D heading onto the Pomona freeway.
1/1/2015
guest I passed this brown Model S at 4:31 this afternoon as it was headed south on Route 281 in Cortland. I didn't see it in time to wave or anything. The dashcam captured the picture. From the rear dashcam shot I could see the car had a spoiler.

1/1/2015
guest Given how rare it is to spot a brown, I wonder if that's my friend from Auburn. Ironically, also an Andy.

1/1/2015
guest No front license plate, so it's hard to tell what state this vehicle is from. Andy, were you able to catch the rear plate? The Model S is still pretty rare in Central NY.
1/1/2015
guest Here's the shot from the rear camera. I can't really see anything on the plate.

1/1/2015
guest We need some 4K dash cams...
1/1/2015
guest Looking closely at the two pictures I posted above, I'm wondering if the quality is actually less than what it would have been if I had not been using the polarizing filters that I organized the group buy for. I'm actually going to remove them for a while, and see how the next pictures I try to save look.
The filters definitely work well with respect to reducing the glare. I'm just wondering if by virtue of also reducing the total light available to the dashcams, they are also reducing image quality.

sadly the dashcam was exposed for under the bridge and the p85d sat at the signal under the sun.

guest Joined by a brand-spankin' new gray 70D with NJ temp plates in Arlington, VA. Anybody here on TMC? I'll buy you a cup of coffee- not only because you have great taste, but also because the baby wipes on your center console isn't lost on me.

1/1/2015
guest If you are ever in Charlotte, NC (or I'm in Shenandoah (been a couple years)), we should park next to each other. My plate is "KCKD GAS"
1/1/2015
guest Haha. Yes. I saw a KICKN GAS somewhere also. We could cover the whole spectrum of verb tenses.
1/1/2015
guest First local sighting in my Tesla-naive little town of Waynesboro, VA. Brand new 85D. Anyone here on TMC? Would love to know if our Tesla population around here just doubled!

guest Finally captured my own picture of another Model S in Ithaca, from my P85D's dashcam, and got a wave!
Just before 7:45 PM this evening I pulled up to the intersection of Route 13 and Warren Road, heading South on Warren Road, and realized that the car directly across Route 13 from me was another Model S! I flashed my lights a few times, but did not get a response. We were turning left onto Route 13 and the other Model S was also turning left, so we were going to pass fairly close together in the intersection. When we did, the passenger in the other Model S, a young woman, lowered the window and waved, and my wife and I both waved back.
Because of the low light, I'm not certain of the color, but I believe it was brown.

1/1/2015
guest Signature red at the Rocklin CA service center supercharger!

1/1/2015
guest ^ hmm, why does a Sig Red have new non-plates?! A trade-in and now CPO, perhaps.
1/1/2015
guest Not my own sighting, but my sister's. Blue one on NB 53 near Hall this evening. Thought I'd check if it's anyone here since she memorized the plate, ending in 047. She thought it was me until she saw the plate.
1/1/2015
guest Spotted a blue (or possibly black, but probably blue) Model S heading East on Route 17, east of exit 122 at about 4:40 PM Sunday afternoon, 8/23. (We were headed West, and weren't in a Model S.) Anyone here?
1/1/2015
guest Black Model S headed north on Route 1 just out of Searsport Maine. I'd have a pic but I wasn't driving or I would've turned around. Beautiful!
1/1/2015
guest Had my first sighting of a Model S going the same direction, N0M0GAS on NB 53.
I first noticed it just before the on ramp, but didn't get a good enough look to be 100% sure. The lack of a fin on the roof gave me hope because every other similar-looking sedan seems to have it, so I had to try to catch up.
I caught up a couple minutes later and slowed down a bit, briefly waving as I passed (probably bad timing for him to see, didn't see him look over).
Then, once the car ahead merged to the right a couple seconds later, I don't know what I was thinking when I half gunned it, which is unlike me when already going the speed limit. In all my imaginings of such an event, I would have merged ahead or behind and stuck around until our paths diverted. I guess the excitement just got the better of me. Anyway, very cool nonetheless.
1/1/2015
guest Saw this car on Monday on Woodruff Rd. Just had time to grab a pic before I passed.

guest More signs of Tesla being an important brand of our time. In the renderings for a proposed redevelopment of a mall in Cupertino, CA you can see a Tesla Model S as one of the most visible/recognizable vehicles in their streetscape:
The Hills at Vallco | Cupertino, Silicon Valley | Vallco Shopping Mall Transformation
I think I also see a Volt but there is no mistaking the Tesla branded vehicle (other than the fact I consider a Tesla with a front California plate practically a unicorn).
arnold
1/1/2015
guest Didn't know the Model S was sold in California as a right-hand drive vehicle! ;-)
1/1/2015
guest That's an Opel Ampera, the Europe-only version of the Chevy Volt. They must have grabbed a random pic.
1/1/2015
guest Perhaps it is the super advanced self driving version? No need sit on the driver's side. ;-)
1/1/2015
guest Spotted on WT Harris Blvd westbound turning north onto Tryon Rd. at about 10 am Friday. I rolled down my window and waved, but doubt "Watt Fun" was noticed behind the gold Accord in front of me.

guest I was eating at a Boston Market today and somebody stopped behind my car and looked for a long time, and took a picture. Hoping its posted here today. Like there's any chance of that, lol!
Here are some random cars I happened to see at the new Houston service center today (lots of people there looking at the car asking questions - interest has not diminished).
This is mine, picking up some controversial local electrons.
This is my dream car.
Truly a random siting - this car was charging when I got there.
A couple demo cars outside.
My dream car from the front.
Me and Bucky

1/1/2015
guest @Roseville SC today with MFG plate. This P85D medium brown seemed to have a touch of purple. What color us this?
1/1/2015
guest I think most people's dream car would include Ludicrous Mode. (There was no underline under the P90D.)
1/1/2015
guest Is that a TMC thing or a real Tesla thing? I hadn't seen that before.
1/1/2015
guest My understanding was that it was a real Tesla thing. Now I'm going to have to do some searching and report back. (I could be wrong.)
Edit: OK, I think it's a real Tesla thing:
