My comment was meant as a joke, hence the smiley face. OT, I recently saw this very special Delorean at a Supercar Sunday event in Woodland Hills, CA.

In the begining of February of this year a saw my first model S in flesh (a white one) and it was in my modest city of Ourm/Portugal! By the plate, it was a January purchase. Since then, i saw it twice more times, so i think it is someone living in my city neighbourghood.

    A few yesterday...

The first one was the one that joined me as I was in a caravan following my cousin... So, to the P85 in Morris, NJ. Thanks for letting me follow the Accord Hybrid yesterday. It was raining and I was in unfamiliar territory, so I may not have been as friendly on the road...

And later last night, as we were checking into the hotel in Newark, DE... The fellow traveler from MA that my wife spotted at the parking lot.

    Nice Red.

    Dennis,

You must have gotten in late into DE (although when I woke up there were car's on either sides of us).
Great pic of my wife's car! Sorry we missed you, and greetings from Norfolk, VA where I'm pulling 3 miles of range per hour!

    EdA,

That answers the question of whether the Red Model S that was pulling out of Tridelphia, WA SC was the Red one we saw in DE last night.

We're checking at the hotel attached to the SC in WVA as we continue our trip back West.

was following in the HOV lane out of excitement, just had a p85d test drive yesterday. as soon a commuter bus move out of the lane, the driver tagged it. im thinking simply in sport mode, and it was gone into the horizon.

the little fiat 500e had no chance of keeping up...

I overtook what I thought was a platinum coloured Model S (the sun was setting - it could have been silver) heading west on the A303 near Wincanton last Wednesday. I was in the red Roadster and waved when I passed.

Last night I saw a blue one heading around Hyde Park Corner in London about 5:40.

Most random sighting ever! Today at work in the middle of nowhere I look outside of the window and see this Jaguar parked outside. Looks almost like a Tesla from far away! .......................:scared: wait what.

    [?IMG]

As you can see the thing is huge. It doesnt actually really fit in a standard sized UK parking spot! It's a P85+

    [?IMG]

    [?IMG]

I have a suspicion that this is the Tesla i have been seeing on my commute to work twice. Cant be THAT many of them around here...... The touchscreen isnt actually that big in real life.

mate i drive a left hand drive and see no reason to order a RHD Model 3 either :p. It really only matters a tiny bit when trying to overtake SUVs or Vans and on Motorways it's actually sort of better to drive a LHD in england. Tbh the touchscreen must be a major ballache to use with your left hand unless you are left handed i guess.

In the Bay Area Tesla's are a dime a dozen. While traveling about 5 miles from San Jose to Los Gatos I saw 6 Model S's, 2 red, 3 white & 1 blue or black.

Yeah, getting more popular here in Chicago even but still not as common as all the X5s, VWs, MDXs, 3/5/7 series, and other brands. It is just interesting when you start paying attention and noticing a particular model - then it seems like there are a lot more of them out there ;-)

Mark this one under a bad situation turning kind of awesome.

I bought a Syma X5C quadcopter, delivered on Wednesday, which has a camera (not FPV). I decided to take it up really high over my back yard to get a cool view of my neighborhood. A few minutes before doing that, I labeled it with my phone number just in case I lost it. Sure enough, once I tried spinning it around while fighting the wind, I got disoriented and lost it behind the trees. Distraught, I went looking for it, walking along the street. A couple houses down on the other side of the street, a neighbor who I hadn't met before was out in his front yard and got my attention, holding my quadcopter. He was cool and we had a brief chat about it. He asked about the range and said to be more careful (I will). Whew! Unfortunately, the video I tried recording didn't save.
[Update: I recovered the video with the help of a hex editor on an image of the partition. Interesting to watch, but I don't plan to release it for privacy reasons.]

On the way back, just before walking into my driveway, I saw a blue/black Model S coming my way and I waved. It was too quick to make out much detail of the car or driver, let alone a response to my wave, and I didn't think to turn around and check the license plate. It was the first time I've seen one on my street and first time I had (or took) the opportunity to wave. My car was charging just outside the garage, but too out-of-the-way to be easily noticed from the street. I normally park in the garage, but the cement was recently replaced and the sealant isn't ready to be driven on.

Exactly. I had a Dodge Charger rental for a week while having some body work done, and I started seeing Chargers everywhere! (Not superchargers, unfortunately ).

It was fun driving Westbound to Dayton Supercharger on the afternoon/early evening of May 20 with OH - 1STESLA.

Surprised not to have joined us as we Supercharged... But it was fun to spot one in the middle of I-70 in OH.

It was also comforting and fun to try to keep up with the Grey S that was leading my way through the Colorado Rockies between Silverthorne and Glenwood Springs...

Thanks for leading the way when the flurries hit... As a Southern California driver, I don't normally get this "weather"

It's been a while since I was on TMC, but boy did I get a lot of sightings while I was gone.
On May 11th, I went to New York and saw 6 Teslas (which is the most amount of Teslas I've seen in a day). I got a picture of 3 out of the 6 of them.

Today, I went to Virginia and saw 5 Model S's. I only got a picture of one :(

Well, I officially hit 2 years of ownership today.

Here in Northern Virginia I was one of the early adopters. When I got my car in early 2013, there were only a handful of other cars that I saw in the NoVA/MD/DC area every few weeks or so. My car turned heads back in the early days of ownership. Not any more.

Fast-forward 2 years later and I see a model S every day or two.

In all of that time, I checked this thread to see if I might have been sighted. I posted a number of sightings of other cars in the area here. Alas, as regards to seeing my car here, it was not to be.

I hereby stop hoping to see my car in this thread. :-(

Sorry no pics. Saturday night after dinner in Norfolk, VA drove across the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and upon "touching down" on the
eastern shore spotted a Red Model S leaving the scenic view. (Was in my wife's red Model S). A few miles later the pickup in front
of us seriously hit a deer and we just avoided a major accident.

Today at lunch in scenic Northboro, MA I pulled into a restaurant right next to a Model S and sat at the bar. The bartender and one
of the patrons were impressed with my car but didn't notice that I pulled in next to the other Model S. After lunch I browsed the
dining area and was going to announce "Who's Telsa [sic] did I just back into?" but the bartender said I shouldn't and pointed me
at the proper table. I asked "who's Model S is that?" and they all recognized me. The owner of the car and I had worked together
in the 80's! Was in my blue car. His is an 85D. Again, no pics, sorry.

Sorry, no pic, as it went by so fast that it would have been unsafe for me to try to pull out my phone...

I saw one here in Colorado Springs on southbound Academy Blvd, in the left turn lane about to turn on to Carefree Circle at about 2:45 PM today (I was going northbound). It was a brand new black Model S - it had temp tags in the window with the "zero emissions" plate still in the license plate frame. This is reasonably close to where I live, so if it is a new owner, maybe I'll see it again around here.

Here in Colorado, sightings are still rather rare, as this is only the 3rd time I've seen one "in the wild." (Both of the other sightings are documented in this thread)

I recently visited Denver and stayed in the Cherry Creek part of town, really nice city. I was surprised to see six different Teslas within my first six hours or so of being in town -- haven't seen that many within such a short amount of time anywhere other than the Bay area.

As I was walking into work this morning, I noticed this beautiful P85D, roughly 50 feet from where I always park in the back of the lot. I drove right past it without realizing.

    2015-06-01_model-s-sighting-38_phone_censored.jpg

It wasn't there when I went out to lunch with the team, but when we got back from lunch, it had moved to one of the closest non-handicap/visitor spaces to the building, easily visible from my desk when I scooted three feet to the right.
I suspect it belongs to a new hire, possibly the new guy I saw in my department, and would be my first sighting to become non-random (thus not logged).

Are you a new hire, in IT Development perhaps? I'm the bearded Android dev nearest the door.
  • 1/1/2015
    guest
Yes - it was my first day there today ... Although I'm not a hire but on loan for 2-3 weeks while we transition and bring in a few new contract resources from my company. I normally work in downtown Detroit.

Unfortunately, I hit a pot hole on the way home on 22 mile near Shelby. Looks like the rims survived (I knew 19s were a good idea!) but now I need a serious alignment. I'll have to bring the other car (ICE) tomorrow while I figure out my options. Not sure where to take the car at this point.

    See you tomorrow!

  • 1/1/2015
    guest
Ouch! I hope your car gets well soon. I'd call Cleveland service and see what they say about getting it fixed. I heard rumor that rangers are getting the equipment to do annual service, which should include alignment. If true, that may be your best option for a quick quality repair. Good choice on the 19s.

The FL vanity license plate [not shown] suggests old school music industry related. Anyway, love that it's a $120-130K car with a roof rack and 1200 miles from home. Like seeing a thoroughbred hooked up to a plowshare!

    Posted back in April:

I wonder if the one I saw that day, and/or the one JakeP's friend had seen might have been this one:

    Tesla Wegmans.jpg

I saw this S85 parked at the Wegmans Dewitt in Fayetteville, NY at about 6:30 PM this evening. I actually had my blue P85D there as well, though I was parked a good bit further out. There are NOT a lot of Model Ss in this area, so two blue ones in the Wegmans parking lot at the same time had to be a first!

The first one is a crappy picture of an MC Red Model S.

The second one is a perfect picture of a black or blue Model S.

KDLinks X1 on Amazon for $169. That isn't the whole image - I cropped it just because I didn't think the left side of the picture was relevant - didn't have the Tesla in it. I don't recommend this dashcam unless you want one to move between cars. If you're looking for a permanent mount this one is not your best choice as it has a huge suction cup mount and the gps antenna is also huge and bulky. but it works well and is easy to use - for the price its a good dashcam. I'm thinking I'll get a Blackvue 650 for the Tesla and use this one in the Volt.
  • 1/1/2015

FYI: The Blackvue antenna (at least on my installation), barely ever gets a signal, so I almost never have location data (or the correct time, for that matter) on the recorded videos.

Saw one at the Meijer parking lot in Westerville, OH a couple of weeks ago. A black one with the OEM 19" wheels and a custom plate that said something to the effect of "NO2GAS" or something. Wonder if it was a member?

Either way, it was nice to see one to remind of me of mine so far from home, and to show my buddies who haven't seen mine yet.
  • 1/1/2015

They don't look hideous when done right. They look especially nice on a Tesla because of its lines and curves that are accentuated by the diffused light.

Also like that blacked out chrome trim in the rear with the T E S L A lettering outlined, Tesla should have done that standard.

Matte wraps are personal preference. I prefer my cars shinny but I know that there are matte wraps out there that are done tastefully and looks good.

Had a couple of firsts over here in Schweden

    a) First time (that I know of), that a Model S was parked directly outside my building and my living room window. That was a somewhat pleasant sight.

    b) On Monday last week at about 07.19 PM was the first time a Model S was the last car to pass me on the freeway before I could get on to said freeway from the on-ramp. That S was a Multi-Coat Red P85D with Swedish plates.

Here it is in my rear view mirror (and behind the cargo protection net in my good ol' methane[SUP]1[/SUP] propelled VW Passat Station Wagon). Both two lanes on the freeway were temporarily blocked as they often are at this point during what is actually my morning commute to my day job.

    p85d.jpg

(And that was the first time I managed to snap a pic of a Model S with my iPhne Fnf from my car while driving.)

    c) That same trip was the first time during a commute that I passed two Model S's. I passed the second one some twenty minutes later after having gotten on to the second freeway on my commute. It was some dark color. I was wearing my shades which distorts colors, so I'm not sure which dark color it was...

[SUP]1[/SUP]Of which about 60% is recycled, and 0% comes from any kind of fracking op. in Sweden, since there are ABSOLUTELY NO FRACKING ANYWHERE in Sweden!

On 118th, heading to I275 around 7pm. Black with dark 21s, we ended up side by side at a light and waved like lunatics to each other! 20150622_185120.jpg

    Yes.

    I'm sure it's an S.

Look at the headlights. If that was an X mule, then this would be the first time anyone was able to reveal that the X has the exact same LED running lights as a Model S. And, if that was an X mule, then it was disguised exactly as an S without any kind of camouflage whatsoever

I took this photograph early in the morning with one hand using an iPhone 5 pointing it at my rear view mirror. And between my rear view mirror and the S, was first a cargo protection net, and second my rear window, which wasnt entirely clean

    Trust me.

Thats an S (That cost whoever bought it more than a Million SEK if s(he) paid cash and VAT).

It's a loaner from Tesla. For "inventory" cars, Tesla uses the MFR plates. CPO cars will have a regular plate.

^ That's a Tesla-owned car. All of their inventory / test-drive vehicles carry that same plate.

This seems like the story around here. I've seen three "Test Drive" vehicles here with NC Dealer Plates and had two loaner vehicles with California MFG Plates.

I've both MFG and DLR plates on Tesla owned vehicles. I know some states limit the number of manufacturer plates. Not sure what California does in this respect. I vaguely recall also seeing some Tesla owned vehicles with Washington dealer plates up here as well. So can't quite say all the vehicles have the same plates.

Spotted Lightning's twin northbound on the Veteran's Expressway this afternoon. The driver waved furiously and seemed really excited to see Lightning. Classic silver, baby!

Ran an errand this afternoon in the northern Chicago suburbs, saw 5, besides my own. 1 White, 2x Black (including a black that had no 'number' on the right side, I hadn't seen that before) and 2x Light Gray.

I saw a green Model S traveling west on A13 near Caen, Normandy (France). Sunday June 28, 5:30pm local time.

Owners can request Tesla not to attach the lettering of the specific Model S they are purchasing and during production of the vehicle they are not placed on the rear tailgate (or trunk door) or whatever you call it in the US.

Tesla still provides the self adhesive number / letter combination inside the vehicle at delivery which can be put on the Model S at anytime by the owner if they change their mind afterwards.

On a round trip from the north suburbs to Chicago's Bronzeville (in my ICE, unfortunately) saw 3 blacks, 1 red, 1 white and 1 blue, all on the expressways. FWIW, I also saw a Ferrari.

Also, Tesla did not put any model numbers on cars for the first 6 months or so of production. My Jan 2013 S60 has no badge.

This is the 8th Model S I have spotted in Vancouver in two days (and the first that I could actually manage to get a photo of!). Either there are a lot more Teslas in Vancouver than Sydney or the hot weather was bringing them out!

That one has to be pretty new TesAus as the titanium color has only been out for a few months. Or is that the old Brown iwith the very bright light hitting it just right?
  • 1/1/2015

I was trying to work that out myself. I think it was Titanium as it did look too light for brown (which I have seen in the flesh), but I stand to be corrected!

That could be on a test drive, I think those are dealer plates -- the license plate starts with 'D' and has 2/4 characters, not the normal 3/3.
