We are in SoCal (or CA in general). MS's are everywhere now, so much so that sightings seem to not be noteworthy. Well, maybe it if it was in BFE and/or there were mods (and pictures).

    See you around

That's pretty much what happened with Volts here. I was initially tracking those sightings because they were the closest to EV's I could find. Once I started seeing two a day mid last year, I stopped. Now I see about 10 a day.

Bonus - my Tesla, a GTR and a Lambo dropping off seniors for my brother's prom and of course the Tesla gets the crowd's biggest reaction! I could tell they wanted to race on the way back but I was responsible :)

Home for graduation and saw two Tesla's outside of Carnegie Mellon's "Electric Garage" in Pittsburgh. Makes me wish I had my Tesla back in "da burgh." I was also shocked to see that they actually installed a Tesla HPWC. I wonder if it's 80A or 30A.... anyone know? It seems like just a year ago that lot used to be empty... now it's packed with ~8 chargers total??

    - Blue Model S headed south on OH-91 (Som Center) at 18:46 (tiny image included)

I just wanted to post a quick thank you to the owner of a black Model S P85+ that was charging at the Sun Country charger in Golden, BC, Canada on Saturday afternoon and took the time to let me look at his car. First time I've managed to see one up close.

If the owner of Bay Area car with the CA plate "2CHRGED" and the black matte vinyl wrap and the custom wheels is on this board, I passed you on 280 North today. Congrats on your recent nuptials :) (for everyone else, the car has "Just Married" written on the windows). I saw you form an impromptu caravan with those two other S's after you all spotted each other. Very cool to see!

Its reasonably well aligned with the old lines that have been removed - maybe the flux capacitor malfunctioned and it didn't return to the exact time intended?

No, it was not photo-shopped! And that fire lane marking is common here. I have absolutely no idea what the f*&k they put it there for! I'm going to start asking to see if anybody knows what that red line means.

    guest
Yeah, why paint "no parking" lines in front of parking spaces? How does that work?
  • 1/1/2015
    guest
OK, I think it just means don't park in the middle of the road, believe it or not. Where the Teslas park is outside the fire lane. The fire lane begins at the nose of the Tesla (at the end of the parking space right at the red painted line) and goes to the other side of the street. This is a picture of what they're trying to get across I think:

You've established that yours is the blue one. I have a grey but make no claims about my parking ability versus the one in the picture (haven't received my BC personalized plates yet anyway!!). However, both cars' license plates end in "xxx EL" - just curious - related? or coincidence? Hope I'm not prying.

Sorry I didn't get a pic, but I saw a black MS on Pea Blvd on the way to Denver International Airport this morning at about 8:45. It was a brand new one; it still had temporary tags.

It was the first time I saw a Tesla "in the wild" (The only other time I've seen a Tesla in person was at the Park Meadows Mall store.) They aren't anywhere near as common here in Colorado as they apparently are in California.

Saw a silver MS driving south on 95 in wells maine around 5:30 this afternoon. It had Mass tags. I hope they build a supercharger in Kennebunk so I can see more on a regular basis.

Yeah, I basically go nuts, temporarily. Passengers, if any, are used to my enthusiasm by now. Driving on I-15 the other day, one of my employees spotted a beautiful blue one w grey 21"s BEFORE I did! Gave him a big high-five!
  • 1/1/2015

  • 1/1/2015

Actually, that blue one on the bottom has the cyclone wheels and looks blue-ish -- it might be mine!
  • 1/1/2015
    guest
    What's your issue with 21s?
  • 1/1/2015
    guest
Maintenance nightmare in places apt to get potholes. (Besides the fast wear).
  • 1/1/2015
    guest
True on the pothole issue, but I have had no issue with wear...I have 4K miles on mine and they are still going strong. The standard 19s just look boring TO ME on such a sexy car.

At 6 AM May 30 I saw the orange car carrier exiting Eastbound Interstate 80 in Saddle Brook NJ. I looked at the wheels and thought Tesla now seeing the picture with the way they are wrapped confirms what I saw. He made a left turn onto Saddle River Road most likely making a U-Turn as a lot of truckers do there. All the cars on top had 19" wheels on them. One was 21" The one over the cab was white. I watched him make the turn in my mirror. I think another one was Red. To early and had to watch traffic.

Two days in a row this week I spied a white MS heading east as I headed west on Park Blvd near Starkey.

This afternoon around 5:45pm I saw a gray MS on West shore, waiting at the Gandy light as I was heading north. I love the gray!

Here's a significant sighting in Belmont today, a white Right Hand Drive P85! Sorry for the poor pic, but if you look closely you can see his hand atop the steering wheel. Waved at him but didn't get to chat. Don't remember what plates it had (if any).

Also saw my first i3 in the wild right after taking this pic.

At the Houston Galleria today - it was busy! The build date on the display car shown was 4/2014. I sat in the drivers's seat to see if I could tell the difference between the new seats and the old, and I could not. Maybe after a few hours it would become apparent.

Okay... maybe it doesn't APPEAR random, but in my defense-- every time this weekend I went out to the the garage the first thing that popped in my mind was: THERE'S A TESLA IN MY GARAGE!

At that rate, I'm kind of surprised anyone in CA cares enough about sightings to take drive-by pictures. Then again, it's Tesla, it doesn't get old very fast. Once I started seeing about 2 Volts a day, I stopped tracking them, though I still spot them and think "hello Volt" in my head. Now I see roughly 15 a day. For Tesla, still only 5 after 2 years. In fact, I just realized, tomorrow is the 1 year anniversarry of my first Model S sighting in the wild.
  • 1/1/2015

I subscribe to this thread to look at pictures/sightings outside of California. In my drive, it is pretty common for me to see at least five to seven Tesla Model S. Still excited with Roadster sightings, however.

Yes and yes. I ordered my car with a custom color but then I changed my mind and I had it repainted at Chilton Auto Body, the same body shop that did the custom paint job for Tesla. It cost me a fortune but I love the color.

This one's fairly random since it's the only one I saw on the highway today at all - I was travelling south on CA1 coast highway about 17mi north of Hearst Castle, an I-can't-remember-the-colour S rounded a corner coming the other way; we flashed our headlights at each other in greeting.
