    Macedonia supercharger today.

The driver of the red one said she's never seen another Tesla there when she was, and the blue one nearest the camera is passing through from Pittsburgh to Detroit.

I went to a conference in Las Vegas this week. Other than the presentation I delivered, I had nothing to do but to roam the floor for the rest of the day. What did I find but this?

    image.jpg

Apparently it was a rental. (Was closed and locked all day with the touchscreen off, but windows down). My company (not mine, but the one that I work for) makes some of the precision measurement hardware that Tesla uses in their factory, so they had this beauty on display.

I ended up standing by it almost the entire rest of the day answering questions. Tons of compliments all day. A few people challenging the practicality of an EV and I shot 'em down good. Ran into two people who had orders in for one. All in all, I think I sold about 5 of them :).

I think I have the random-sitings fever. Kind of like doodle-bug I played when I was little. I saw one this morning and didn't get its picture but this one I saw on the way home didn't get away! On I-10 eastbound in Houston near the beltway on the east side. It was from Illinois and moved through Houston rush hour traffic like a pro.

Can't wait to randomly spot it Friday!!!

Well, I know you won't hear me go by. If I put it into hyperdrive, you won't see me go by either. Lol.

Yeah, we better not post ever sighting, we may crash the servers.

Heheh, I think she was at a stop light, but this was still pretty impressive for a Mom iPhone pic! I think that is her trusty Toyota Camry...she is waiting for Gen III, of course. Already has a plug in the garage!

This might be a first. Another forum I hang out at shows a lot of construction pictures of the L.A. rail system being built out. Have a look at this shot from Santa Monica, where the new 26th St. Expo Line station is being built. Almost thought I was on the TMC site for a minute:

MCRed S85 on the Capital beltway heading into Virginia Tuesday afternoon. A lovely young lady rolled down her window to wave. At first I thought she was ignoring me, but turns out she was just paying attention to the road until she noticed me. Always happy to get a wave back.

It seems like people are generally annoyed with my excitement to see others on the road these days like the white one below I spotted in McLean, VA a couple of weeks ago. She actively sped up to prevent me from merging after I tried to wave to her. Real nice, lady.

    ^^^ beautiful.

i don't know why Silver flies under the radar for the Model S. it's a very popular color on most other cars, but other than brown, it's gotta be the second least popular color.

He has parking sensors so this wasn't an early car from the factory (earliest reservation holders had a $10k option of paint color of their choice). Either this is a wrap, or it is aftermarket painted. I don't think the factory does custom colors anymore.

    Not exactly random...

Ok, so not exactly random, but I pulled into the HPWCs at the Columbus, OH store location to charge... and just liked this patriotic display of Model Ss. The Red and white cars were already there.. just needed to add my Blue.

I have this same problem with my passenger door, hope you were kind enough to close the door for them :)

I am having Tesla look at this (among other things) with mine next time it goes in, until them I just make sure it gets fully closed any time someone uses it.

Don't think it is a wrap... I am willing to bet this is the same car that has been spotted before that was a custom green made off the line. There is also an orange one that was made for vin #30,000.

PS: I really wish they would offer other colors!!! I so would get either the green or the orange if they had offered it :)

Blue or maybe black spotted around 3pm, SB Van Dyke between 29 and 30 Mile. It caught my attention in the corner of my eye as it passed and confirmed what I saw in the rear view, not good enough to be sure of the color. I was driving mine north to get it titled and registered. Maybe I'm not the first Model S owner in my town after all.

It was definitely not a wrap. I inspected it very closely and it had metallic paint. In real, I didn't like it as much. The owner admitted that on hind sight, he would have chosen a different color as it attracts attention (possibly not favorable attraction).

And now for a different kind of picture record, sorry for the crappy quality. This shows where I met and flashed my lights at a Tesla Model S coming the other way in the middle of nowhere (no insult intended), just northeast of Cheyenne WY on Hwy 85. The highway just west of my car's marker (looks like south because of the screen's map orientation) is 87. Of course with my memory, I can't remember what colour the other one was. White?

    And, Wyoming is sure beautiful.

Met a black southbound MS on A1A in Flagler Co., FL the other day (I was northbound). Flashed my lights but got no response. By the way, how prevalent is flashing of lights between MS owners? I remember during the 70's when BMWs were rare that BMWs almost always flashed each other. Is that type of camaraderie now pass' ?

this thread is getting uncomfortably STALKY.

i mean, it was fun at first when Model S's were rare. but now a dude can't even work out at LA Fitness without being photographed and blasted all over the internet.

    Proposal to amend proposal.
Let's stop reporting Model S sightings from California, Seattle, and Norway. Elsewhere, each person is allotted two reports per month.
I still want to be allowed to express my excitement when I spot one in Michigan, since I average one sighting every few months (probably less now that I'm driving instead of carpooling) and have yet to have some kind of two-way interaction.
  • 1/1/2015

I think those who live in lands where Model S is prevalent don't necessarily understand how rare they still are. I just did a 2,200 mile round trip between St. Louis and Orlando (in my ICE, unfortunately, the Supercharger-enabled route would have more than doubled the driving time until next year) and only saw 2 the entire way -- one outside of Atlanta (gray) and one at the parking lot of the Holiday Inn Express (DE tags, P30xxx) in Cocoa Beach when we arrived. Those traveling with us said there was a red one at the Disney cruise terminal, I suspect it was that multi-coat red I saw.

Contrast this with my business trips to San Jose where I see at least 8 daily (or more if I count them in my employer's parking lot).

Went to lunch today here in Wilkesboro, NC. 10 min later the owner came over and said, there is a Tesla owner over there and want's to meet you. I walked over and introduced myself. He was from Winston Salem. He and wife were headed to Beech Mt. for holiday. He was plugged in topping off. His S was almost like mine. Met Grey.

Last night, as I was headed to the parking lot after watching my son's Summer Theater performance, I noticed a crowd around my car. There were three families circling around it. As I walked up to join them the door handles came out. One of the guys turns to me with this look of awe and says "You must be the owner, I've never seen one in real life before. It's beautiful." There were maybe a dozen people of all ages there, from teens to grand parents, and not one of them had ever seen one before. I still have only caught a glimpse of just one here in mid-Michigan, so if I ever see another one I'll be posting here.

On the last day of two weeks in Europe starting with three days each in London and Paris, we turned a corner in the old city area of Arles in Provence to find this P85. Our first and only Tesla sighting. Great to see Tesla penetrating this far into the regions but hope to see more on my next trip - especially in London and Paris. adyneny4.jpg

Just returned from a riverboat cruise of the Rhine and Moselle rivers. At each stop I would look for a Model S. It was not until we ended in Amsterdam that I saw one,. In fact I saw two Model S's and one Roadster, and saw one of the Tesla stores thru the bus window. Sorry I didn't have the camera ready for pictures, with the exception of the Roadster which I came across while on a walk. It was charging while parked on the street. I will not post its picture since it is not a Model S sighting (and I probably couldn't figure out how to do it anyway).

In Seattle, within one city block, in an out of the way neighborhood, two Sig Reds and one Pearl white all drive by each other on a narrow road.

Only the Sigs and Roadsters seem to wave back anymore. I imagine that if you waved at all them every day you'd get carpal tunnel syndrome.
