I'm not sure if this counts as me sighting someone else or someone else sighting me. No picture, but:

I was getting out of my car and a guy in a car paused by my parking spot said "Nice car" with an odd grin. I said, "Oh, thanks!" and grinned. As I walked towards the credit union, I noticed him driving around the row of cars and turning towards an exit, and realized I'm an oblivious moron--he was driving a Model S, too! I waved--not sure if he saw me in his rear-view mirror or not.

I think I win oblivious owner of the year or something. . . . ;-)

I saw a Dark Color (Black) Model S going East on Madison Ave. Cresskill NJ at about 11:45 AM on Sunday the 30th. I blew the horn at you from a SUV going West near the Cresskill fire dept. I had something else on my mind or I would have opened the window and gave you thumbs up.

bluetinc (from MD) was in the area visiting family and needed a charge, so I told him to stop on by!

We Model S owners always stick together!

Saw a MC Red S85 in Goodyear, AZ today at McDowell and Bullard.

No plates. Must be a new delivery.

First one I have spotted on west side of Phoenix except for Rolfs'.

Hi to the MC Red spotted on Old Georgetown Pike in Great Falls before 1P today. Unfortunately I was driving my wife's Odyssey at the time; that would have been a much nicer drive in the MS.

Today on my way to a job interview a multi coat red caught up with me. My first time seeing a model S in person!!!
it was awesome, I tried keeping up with him but he got away from me( probably thought I was a creep after seeing me stumble for my phone, lol)

Ok so this isn't really a random sighting. It is my coworker, on the offramp where we work. But I received/gave a thumbs up to a S4 on the interstate. Who also got off on this exit. And he gave me a really puzzled look at the next light. I told him we work together, and I helped convince my coworker to take the leap.

Saw this on the way home yesterday in Southborough and Framingham, MA.

Saw a 60 from Washington charging at the regular public charging station here in Vacaville over the weekend. I would have offered the use of my hpwc, but the owner wasn't around. I think a 60 making it all the way from Washington shows you can road trip quite well in this car. I also realized how useful a supercharger in this area would be with the 505 and 80 coming together.

A white S joined me at the Omni Hotel in Richmond VA last Saturday.

(As an aside, the Chevy Volt behind me is a buddy's.. he also used the charge station there...)

Wow, it's really interesting to see that ALL NJ residents chose the 19" wheels. Says a lot about the NJ road system. It's amazing how good the car looks on 19"'s Having never seen them I opted for the 21"s but the 19's look very well balanced with the car. Greetings from Miami.

I saw my first "in-the-wild" Model S over the weekend. It was on the 6th of July in downtown Austin, TX (around 5th street, close to the Convention Center). It was white w/21" Grey Wheels. I didn't have time for a picture since the next light was green and I was on foot.

Had my first 3 Tesla sighting day in the Northern Virginia/MD/DC Metro area.
    - First a blue (maybe black?) traveling SB on GW parkway around 8:30
    - Next a white P85 / 21" wheels with DC plates (see below) exiting the inner loop of the beltway onto Old Georgetown Road in Bethesda (you cut me off if you're reading this) (8:40ish)
    - Finally, a brown w/ brown roof heading toward Rockville Pike on Old Georgetown Road (around 1:30). The brown is sharp...

Visiting Sunnyvale this week on business, I can see why there should be a separate thread for CA sightings, a Model S is about as common as a Prius around here!

Saw two white (one 85, one 60) in the same parking garage near the Tied House in Mountain View at dinner time last night, then today saw three of various colors on the very short (3mi?) drive from Moffett Towers area to hotel!

Were you around 237 at all today? I pulled onto the freeway directly behind a nice white MS in the morning, and then was passed about two minutes later by a dark colored one in the carpool lane. Then coming home this evening, two separate grey examples passed me in the carpool lane coming back the other direction.

Making me wish my plates would get here, so I can apply for the little white stickers myself. :)

Well, my Model S is back home in Raleigh NC; I'm motoring around in a Ford Focus this week. The 3 I saw this evening a little after 5:30 were on W Moffett Park Dr near the 237/101 interchange, with all the tech companies nearby, probably could have seen a bunch more if I got stuck at the stoplight another time (I can't believe how many idiots completely blocked the intersection waiting to get into one left hand lane, rather than moving over into the other 2 empty lanes when the light changes) After missing the light twice, gave up on attempting to stay in my lane and drove into the turn lane on the opposite side of the road in order to go straight!

    Greg,

A couple of weeks ago I took a similar shot very near that location (at Pepita's Mexican Restaurant) with my car next to a another blue (or black) MS (it was a P85.) Different license plate number than the one in your picture. I need to get around to uploading it somewhere.
  • 1/1/2015
    guest
Yep, that's where I get off 237 to get on Mathilda. Some people are very dense when it comes to blocking that intersection, and the timing on the lights doesn't help. I probably would have done the same thing, "naughty" though it may be.

Had a crazy drive home from dinner last night in Los Altos - saw fully 6 other MSes within five minutes of leaving the restaurant. One driving out of the opposite parking lot, one on main street, and four parked at businesses heading out of town. My two passengers enjoyed a fun game of Spot the Tesla. :D I don't expect to beat that record any time soon myself, outside of owner meet-ups.

Sometimes you have to entertain yourself ....

Was pulling up to the light and I spy a Black Model S .....

I pull up next to him.... roll my window down and get his attention...

ME: "Man that is one nice car!"
HIM: "Oh thank you, its a Tesla Model S"
    ME: "Does it look familiar?"
    HIM: "Doooh! "

We go to this place (Pepita's in Beaverton) almost every Friday. I love the chicken mole burrito. Other places we like are El sol de Mexico in Tigard and Chez Jose in Portland. There are other more upscale places around but these are our go-to locations.

And... I haven't eaten at that restaurant in eons. It is a good place. Now you've got me salivating for it.

After months of watching everyone else have random Model S sightings I finally have one to add. This is actually the 2nd in the wild MS (outside of our local group) I have seen but the first since I installed a dash cam. Taken around 3pm 7/20 in the Apple Valley/Lakeville area. Looked like it might have been a new one, if so congrats to the new owner the red looks great.

So, the USA is gradually filling up with Model S's meanwhile, here in the UK, almost no one has a clue what one is, with lots of outright blind prejudice towards EV's as per Top Gear preaching's on the subject.

But interestingly, a German registered white Model S has been spotted in the wild, in Epsom UK, just last week.

AFAIK there are only two in the UK at present the other being dark blue, so this is a fairly rare spot

I saw my first Model S ever driving home today! I was somewhat excited given that it's the first one I've ever seen live, even though I didn't get that good of a look because it was on the opposite side of the highway. It was headed eastbound on I-70 around Boonville, MO around 5pm. I hope they found a place to charge. heh. Electric car chargers don't exist in mid-Missouri yet, and it's an awful long haul going from Kansas City straight to St. Louis. I guess an 85 kWh Model S could make it, but it would be uncomfortably close. About 250 miles.

Spotted a white Model S 3 doors down in my condo community while I was leaving for work. lights flashing, illegally parked (per HOA) so I am assuming they were visiting/dropping by. Hopefully they moved before the Trash collectors came. Personalized license plate was humorous.

7/30: today a coworker was stating that she saw a white Model S driving around close to our work (17 miles from my home) and she snapped a photo of it. I then showed her the above photo and we laughed. same car. ROFL

Finally got to take a picture of one in the wild. This person has a nice setup at his/her office, in a downtown Washington, DC parking garage, with a NEMA 14-50. The garage/office building is right by the Smithsonian American Art Museum and the National Archives. It's car #4536.

I'm embarrassed that the picture is so blurry, even though I wasn't even driving!

A White P85 Tuesday morning that is regularly on the National Institutes of Health campus in Bethesda
    A black (possibly blue) with tan interior at the Caribbean Grill around 6:00 today in Arlington off of Lee Hwy;
My first Tesla->Tesla encounter Thurs afternoon crossing the Legion Bridge on 495. Pic below of that one, a silver P85 who also had new plates. I was a bumbling idiot with a 1/3 wave, 1/3 peace sign, and 1/3 thumbs up.

In Middleburg, VA this morning at about 11am... I had just parked my blue S at the side of Route 50 (W. Washington St.) when we caught a glimpse of another S go by... I think it was also blue with "AMP ME" on the plates.

Since Delaware was to house the manufacturing plant for the 'new' Fisker before the company went down hill we see more Fiskers in Delaware than Teslas. Hopefully that will reverse very quickly

well...ya, kinda silly. I just figured the likelihood of the Volvo or Ford drivers reading this forum was low - so they would never know the diff. The whole obscuring of plates is silly in the first place - I mean - they are always out when in public.

I always wondered if anyone would spot my car and post it on this thread. Reading this thread, it seems like there are so many Tesla Model S paparazzi out there taking pictures (who knew). =) Well if anyone is interested, there will be 3 Model S at Focus plaza in San Gabriel Valley (LA, California) having lunch tomorrow. Mine is the grey with black rims. =) The other two are silver and white.

Saw a white Model S at North Park shopping center today in Lexington, KY. Was out to lunch with a buddy of mine and I saw it pull into the parking lot. Was still there when we finished lunch so I asked my buddy to drive over and have a look (he drives a Volt). When we pulled up next to the car the I was about to jump out and start taking pictures when we noticed the owner was inside. She saw us gawking at the car and was kind enough to roll down the window to talk to us. She has one of the 60kWh models that is software limited to 40 kWh. She loved the car, said it has lots of power and had no issues with it in 2 months of ownership so far. I asked her about the range and she said it's a commuter car for her and the range at the time was 140mi. Gorgeous car and a very friendly owner. I didn't go through with my picture taking as I thought it might be embarrassing for myself and the owner. Can't wait to get one of my own!

I'm in Los Angeles right now, and there's no way I could enumerate all of the Model Ses I've seen. It seems like every other car. I wouldn't feel as special here!

    Tesla sighting in Vienna

I'm in Vienna on family vacation, missing my car. Somehow that loaded 5 series station wagon seems so utterly... unexciting.

We were on our way to the Spanish Riding School (my daughters love horses), riding the streetcar, when I noticed a familiar looking car out of the corner of my eyes. We jumped off the tram at the next stop, backtracked and there it was. A beautiful white P85, clearly a store owned car from Munich (it appears from their website that Tesla has only a virtual presence in Vienna).

We took pictures, trying to identify the person who matched with the car but couldn't spot anyone so we walked on.

A few blocks later we spotted another car marked Tesla :)

Hah - thanks! I'm loving some Slacker radio. I have no idea how to operate in a world where any music you want isn't available on demand any more!

Proper etiquette when meeting another Tesla on the road... relax, smile, and wave hello!

So if you meet another Tesla owner on the road and you pop your lights, run along side, and flash the peace sign as you cruse by -- Wave back! I ran along with this guy in the brown Model S, dodging in out of traffic together, passing each other in various lanes (West bound on 26 for about 5 minutes) and he didn't give me the time of day. Maybe I initially came up on his tail a little quicker than he liked, maybe I intimidated him (didn't mean to). Or if he was in a hurry, pissed at sharing the road with me, trying to out run me, or what.

I think we're all on the same team. ;)

EDIT: But man did his brown Model S look good running in low height along the freeway!

Saw a red model S with grey 21" wheels in foothill ranch about 4:30 yesterday.

Bumped into another owner (Black 85kWh with perf. wheels) at a take out place near home. We exchanged greetings but he was in a hurry to get dinner back to VA while it was still hot so there were no formal introductions. If you're on the forum, "Hi, I'm Jeff!"

    Strange Model S Sighting Today

Outside SF, heading south on 101 around 3:45pm. Signature Red. Nothing out of the ordinary, until I saw the car had parking sensors in the factory positions and fog lights. I also noticed the rear turn signal blinked amber. Did early cars do this? I thought it was just European cars.

    Anybody here? Factory car maybe?

I see other Teslas not quite every day in Portland, OR at this point, but it's definitely multiple each week.

The Tesla parking at Washington Square mall was full today (!!), so I had to park with the commoners.

By chance, I saw a car begin to back out of a spot - a red Tesla S! I tried waving, but I don't think they were looking.

Anyway, I took their spot. How often does that happen?

I was headed out Thursday evening to go retrieve my other vehicle from the dealership (BF used it to pick up his truck that had been repaired and left my poor little Genesis alone at the Chevy dealer :scared:), and as I turned onto 38th Ave in St Pete, he said "hey, check it out!". There was a dark blue MS just like mine 2 cars ahead. Oddly, it pulled into a gas station on the corner. Guessing they just needed a bottle of water or quick windshield wash?

Someone from Europe taking "California Delivery"?! :) Wonder if that's actually an option for Europeans (the reverse of BMW's European Delivery program); can Calif. hit them with sales tax still?!

It's beginning to happen a lot now. Last three visits in 10 days it's been full for us.

Parking sensors are now an option in the USA. The floor model in the Los Angeles show room (Century City) I saw last week had them.

Yes, but the amber rear turn signal? I thought all US models (sadly) had red read turn signals. Or did this also change? Can someone check at one of the stores with a new Model S with parking sensors if they now have amber turn signals?

Yes please. Not aware if my local stores have a new copy yet. I'm also 99% positive the turn signal repeater did not say "Signature" on it. It definitely wasn't multi-coat Red. The car also had no capacity designation, just "Model S" on the rear and no plates.

Another sighting in Middleburg, VA this past Saturday (8/10). This one appeared to be Black as it drove by us on Hwy 50. The one I saw on the same road a couple of weeks ago appeared to be Metallic Blue like mine...

Oh boy. I already want the parking sensor retro-fit, but if there is an amber rear indicator option I'll take that too! Where do I sign? :D

Two random La Jolla, California sightings in past 24 hours.

First one was parked at the VONS grocery store Sunday night -- blue Model S with the turbine 21" wheels.

Second one was also a blue, this time this morning, on Herschel Ave. 19" wheels:

Since I have a blue on order, seeing blue S's in La Jolla is particularly interesting to me. I kinda wonder if I should be getting the Multi-Coat Red... the blue is so dark from most angles and in most lighting situations it looks black! But I do like the blue/tan combo...
