guest I saw my first ever Tesla Model S ever in Chagrin Falls, OH today. It is less than 3 days since I placed my order! I was able to stop and talk to the owner and he offered my wife and me a ride. Just like everyone says, the P85 is just insanely fast. Thanks Martin!
1/1/2015
guest NJ- I saw my first model s in wild on Friday, 11/15/2013 on I-80 West near exit 35, I think it was brown.
1/1/2015
guest Did your delorean door Model X have a flux capacitor that enabled you to come back from the future to tell us that, eh?
1/1/2015
guest Hi Chris! Great to meet you and your wife. It's always a pleasure to be able to share the Tesla grin
Now you know where to find me if you need a Tesla fix while waiting for yours.
1/1/2015
guest LOL..
well played
1/1/2015
guest Saw another S in the wild yesterday (Sun). This time it was a black S with dark tinted windows and no front or back license plates (I think). It was on Walnut Ave in Reisterstown around 5p. I got HUGE Tesla envy after recognizing the car - so jealous, just waiting for my delivery button!!
1/1/2015
guest Saw my first Model S in the wild, out on the west side of Portland, over the weekend. I know there are a half dozen or dozen in town now, but they all seem to be elsewhere.
And then - there it was - a white Model S in oncoming traffic on Cornell Ave; very happy to see it!
1/1/2015
guest LOL !! Sorry 03/15
1/1/2015
guest saw one driving through simi valley by target probably the one from moorpark college, wonder if the owner is on here...
1/1/2015
guest What's this plug?
I am posting this as much as for Bonnie's sake as anyone else's.
In Monterey over weekend ... went to park in Public parking ... and bingo ... charging stations and a black Model S. (Think it was black.)
But in Ca, I saw so many it hardly feels like a "sighting".
My question is, after I was drilled about what a Roadster adapter looks like ... what is this plug?
Other charging station has EV-1 plug.
And the poor guy with the Model S was plugged into a 110 V outlet.
1/1/2015
guest Saw a white S with 21" silver wheels tonight around 6:30, northbound on Rio Grande just before I-40.
Is the driver a member here?
1/1/2015
guest AVCON connector. Used by earlier-generation EVs like the Ford Ranger EV and Honda EV Plus.
Avcon - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
1/1/2015
guest Thanks. If the equipment is that old and obsolete, why have they not updated it yet to a "J Plug" or better?
1/1/2015
guest Spotted this 'newbie' (no tags) on my way home from work in Washington, DC (near Kennedy Center) yesterday. Excuse the blurry, shaky phone cam shot as I made a quick snap driving by.

1/1/2015
guest First "in the wild" sighting in Charlottesville, on Rt 29 going the opposite way from me (no time to take a pic). Gray with 19"s. Pretty sure it was one that was delivered from the same truck as mine, as I looked in the side view as they passed and they still had no license plates.
1/1/2015
guest I just saw a white Model S in Orem Utah?! Was so surprised that I missed the photo opportunity.
1/1/2015
guest I had yet to see a Model S in the wild after seeing it in person at a store in Santa Monica and about a week ago at the Geneva Auto Show, however I just spotted two in the past few days in the West Philadelphia area in University City. One was dark blue and the other one was white. Both looked amazing! I was pretty pumped haha
1/1/2015
guest Not sure why that one wouldn't be updated at this point. But, there is an adapter available that allows an AVCON to power an L14-50, which then can be used for nearly any EV.
1/1/2015
guest
15 S close to Montreal, QC.
1/1/2015
guest Saw my first Model S in Long Island, couldn't grab a pic. but it looked amazing in the snow (just like the First Day of Spring thread photo)
1/1/2015
guest I was sent a picture of the white one from a friend, and have seen a blue one travelling south down 15 in Lehi. Cant wait to see more!
1/1/2015
guest Nice! I was able to see the blue one after delivery as it ( or a twin) lives in the area- but I have never seen it in the wild. I was surprised to see the white, as I didn't know about it. It was a wonderful moment!
1/1/2015
guest The Fox Valley group have actually updated one of the AVCONs to a J plug. PM me and I can give you the full scoop.
1/1/2015
guest Saw a white model S burning up I 530 today driving into Little Rock, AR. Did not get a pic but it was sweet!
1/1/2015
guest Sorry, but I initially read that wrong. Gave me a mental image reminiscent of Fisker.
1/1/2015
guest
Most of those have been swapped out by now. Interestingly it's also numbered as a J1772 plug. It was always referred to as the Avcon connector. For those without the paddles of EV1 and Rav4 this was the other option A lot of home made EVs used this one. You can even buy a converter to a 14-50 for $300+

guest Loudoun Hospital, Leesburg, VA. Easy pickins' I guess. My MS will look exactly like this so I guess its a sign.
Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk 2
1/1/2015
guest Saw my First S yesterday driving to lunch with the Fam. Sig. Red southbound on Pfingsten road in Northbrook, IL. A bright spot in what seems like a never ending winter here in Northern IL.

guest Hey, my home town. Go have some Lou Malnatis Pizza or Italian Beef for me.
1/1/2015
guest My Step Father keeps sending me photos from the Tigard, Oregon area. He lives near the service center and sees them often. I am jealous.
1/1/2015
guest I drove by a Red (Sig) Model S parked in Bridgehampton, NY today...If I wasn't flying (in my Model S) to meet a client in Wainscott, I would have pulled over, photographed it, and stalked the owner...But sadly, I didn't have the time :/ Oh well! Still, it was the first one I've seen it the wild out here in the Hamptons, so I was still excited
1/1/2015
guest Saw my first Model S Signature on the road this morning in Aurora Ontario Canada. Local plates so I know it's a Canadian car. Very nice to them up here now!
1/1/2015
guest Greetings to my three fellow Model S drivers in Palo Alto this evening. I parked my (white) car in the Webster/Cowper garage on the third floor. Upon returning to my car, I passed not one, not two, but three Model S's parked on the same floor! One black with 19" wheels, one blue with 21" silver wheels, and one blue P85 with grey wheels!
1/1/2015
guest MikeK, I was in that same garage just a day before - California Pizza Kitchen was calling! - two cars down from a blue Model S.
At work at EA, just in the past week, have spotted a new white with silver 21" wheels, another green with 21s and a black one too all charging from our free charging stations.
The '3,000 Model S registered in California' are definitely showing!
1/1/2015
guest Yes I see at least one everyday on south bay roads. Last Friday there are two waiting at the stop light on Almaden Expy. One in front of me and the other in the next lane. That was a first.
1/1/2015
guest Did a ton of driving around the Bay Area yesterday and the 3000+ CA registrations are definitely showing. Saw 10 in about 2 hours of driving. 3 black, 2 brown, 2 white, 1 blue, 1 grey, 1 silver. Can't wait to add mine to the mix this Friday!
1/1/2015
guest jigish
Know what you mean. Was there 2 weeks ago and saw what you did. On the one hand would love to move there for climate AND being in "Tesla land", on the other hand, the fewer you see the more "welcoming" the interaction between the two drivers is. I saw my first S in the wild yesterday!
1/1/2015
guest I did not know they only sell dirty MS in Canada.
1/1/2015
guest Saw a white MS parked at AVAC in San Jose this morning. Actually, I see this same one almost every Sunday about 10:30AM. Good luck on getting in your car though. With those tiny-tears parking spots, the Prius that parked on your left basically gave you about a foot to open your door. I'm guessing you might have to crawl through the trunk to get in. :cursing: You'll find me parked across the street in the CVS lot as I'm not going to deal with that stupid parking lot.
1/1/2015
guest Just arrived in Manhattan, walked out the door of my hotel, the first car I see is a Blue Model S!
!
1/1/2015
guest I had my first "Model S from my Model S rear view camera" sighting yesterday on the way home from work.

guest Turned behind a white S in Laguna Beach this afternoon in front of Las Brisas.

1/1/2015
guest Sighted another model S -- in Ithaca!
Didn't expect that to happen so quickly!
If you were the guy driving a red Model S down route 13 (Fulton St.) and honked at me with a thumbs up, I was the guy in the white model S.
I guess after only a month I'm no longer the owner of the only Model S in Ithaca.
(I didn't find a forum for "missed connections", so I just tossed this here; mods can put it whereever they like.)
1/1/2015
guest Wow - 141 pages! There's probably some sightings near me in there somewhere, but here's a link to my first Model S sighting & pic in Princeton NJ from the Mid-Atlantic forum:

guest Nestled among the (charging) Volts and many Toyota Hybrids in the electric vehicle lot at Logan Airport on Wednesday was this nice clean white Model S. Didn't photo my dirty blue one.

1/1/2015
guest Can't drive the LA freeways (101 and 405) without seeing multiple S's. 4 yesterday-- a black one was next to me for quite a while. Tinted windows. Could have been Franz?
1/1/2015
guest I've been talking about the S pretty much non-stop lately because I want one but can't quite afford one yet. On Wednesday at dinner there was one parked right next to my wife's car at dinner. So if you drive a Blue S in Aurora, CO you made my night.
1/1/2015
guest The other day on my way home (from Sunnyvale to Belmont), I counted seven Model S's besides mine. New record for me.
1/1/2015
guest Horrible pic but my first ever sighting aside from my own Sig Red.
This is from the Delaware Travel Plaza.

1/1/2015
guest Saw a brand new grey model s today while driving in Seattle near cherry hill around 8 am. Caught it out of the corner of my eye, thought beautiful car, looked again and realized it was a model s. One disadvantage of driving one is not realizing how great it looks on the outside all the time.
1/1/2015
guest We'll be on those 2 freeways tomorrow, coming from Santa Barbara returning home to San Diego. I'm too lazy to top off the car (closest charging station is about a mile away, the car has 200 miles of range now, probably 190 by the morning, with about 195 miles to get home), so we'll make a 10 minute stop at the LA Supercharger mid-day tomorrow.

1/1/2015
guest Maybe see you tomorrow, I'm going to San Diego also, stopping in LA 2X both directions. Green, P85
1/1/2015
guest Two more sightings in Albuquerque today:
This morning, my brother saw a silver S with tag TESLA1 at Highpoint Sports & Wellness.
Then about 1pm, my wife & I saw a brown S with grey 21" wheels parked at Scarpa's on Montgomery & Eubank.
Hopefully they'll become more and more prevalent here, so we can get an Albuquerque Service Center!
1/1/2015
guest Saw one in King of Prussia area
I was driving so I couldn't take a pic, but I "thumbs up" the driver. He smiled. I think it was same car I saw like 2 months ago.
His car - Shiny Gray with PA tag, Model S.
1/1/2015
guest I have seen a total of 8 model s on long island NY in the past 2 months. Seemed like an influx of deliveries. Mine will make it 9 in April/May and also the first sunset red!
Colors: sig red, black, 2 white, 2 silver, green, and blue.
1/1/2015
guest Yours will make it 10, I'll be the 9th, I'm getting mine on April 19th.
1/1/2015
guest Aw man! But i have to SEE it first for it to be a "sighting." Got you there. you'll have to drive down to LI first!
1/1/2015
guest Make that three today. About 6:45P, saw a blue one headed south on Tramway.
And the DS in Denver says mine will be on a truck this evening!
Seriously, we need a service center here.
1/1/2015
guest Lloyd, missed you, but there were (2) Model S's at the LA Superchargers when I arrived at ~11AM, with 2 more owners arriving minutes later, then 2 Tesla employees arrived with new cars a few minutes later that they needed to charge up for new deliveries happening in the next few days, for a total of 7 cars. All were black or blue.
Out of the 4 SC's, one had an orange cone in front of with a note on the SC saying there was some sort of problem with it, but one of the Tesla employee said it was just an occasional problem with the access door, and that the SC was working fine, so one of the waiting cars pulled in and started to use it. I only needed about 20 miles worth of additional range to get back down to San Diego, but after talking with other owners for a few minutes, I found that I had taken in ~100 miles of juice, the SC are that fast.

1/1/2015
guest Good point, I'm taking delivery at my house in Hicksville, so if you are nearby you will definitely see it's tail-lights as I zoom by your ICE
1/1/2015

1/1/2015
guest :crying: can you come over for a playdate when i get mine?:tongue:
Btw , what model and color should i be looking out for?
1/1/2015
guest Sure, just PM me when you do
85P White with tan interior
1/1/2015
guest Niccceee we can take it down to the track too! (P85 as well) but mine will go faster because its red!:scared:
1/1/2015
guest Well, red cars are statistically more likely to be pulled over, so even if yours goes faster it won't be long before a cop pulls you over and you are left in the dust of my white P85 btw where do u live in LI?
1/1/2015
guest Hooray! First two Tesla commute in DC!
First I saw this dark colored beauty parked in Foggy Bottom and then I passed a Signature Red heading up Beach Drive near Bethesda

guest New silver Model S spotted on 183 service roads trying to dodge traffic near the Irving Mall, inbetween Dallas and Forth Worth.
It was raining, so couldn't see anything in the rear-view camera, so this photo is courtesy of my wife. Who's only job was to take a good photo.

1/1/2015
guest The new Santana row opened tonight. They lined the streets with Teslas! I didn't get a great pic because it was dark, but it was an awesome sight.

guest Alex Guberman (He is the guy that created the Facebook Tesla Model S Owners Club page, and I think he is KidAlex on here) organized a Model S owners dinner in that area last night, so there may have been an extra influx of Model S vehicles
For those of you who are Facebookers, here is the group Alex created (It's a private group, so just request to be added): https://www.facebook.com/groups/275798909206735/
1/1/2015
guest Just saw a white Model S on my way to Chipotle. Pretty sure it was neroden's, his is the only white one in Ithaca (for now at least getting mine in 2 weeks).
Couldn't get a gd photo while driving. I felt a strange sense of community though, good to know other people are driving the same car as you esp. When you know who is in the car
I was very tempted to make him pull over and ask him about the car
1/1/2015
guest Yesterday around 2:15pm I briefly saw a black S here in ABQ headed west on Alameda approaching Coors, as I was traveling east in my silver P85. I tried to wave/point with two fingers (peace-ish sign), not sure if the other driver saw me in traffic. My first sighting while driving mine!
1/1/2015
guest You people in Ithaca drive kinda funny (picture is upside down)
1/1/2015
guest Sorry took the photo and uploaded it from my iPhone so it automatically flips the photo and I can't tell when it's upside down.
1/1/2015
guest I think it matters which way you hold the phone. Try holding the phone the other way and take a picture and see if it does the same thing. I agree it is annoying the iPhone does this.
1/1/2015
guest Off topic rant: you can use the 'volume up' button as the shutter button on an iPhone, but when you do, any PC will turn the photo upside down. Annoying, as the phone is clearly the right way up, based on the button.
1/1/2015
guest New to the site and have been reading for a month or so, starting to see em all over and they're multiplying!! I now will have to make this detour to starbucks every morning!
1/1/2015
guest use your thumb to press the button while it is on the bottom left. It puts the lens on top so things are right side up.

guest Driving just a tad fast to take a pic, but a big shout out to the sig red I passed on 78-E this afternoon as we merged onto the GSP in NJ...
1st sighting for me in NJ other than my MD-tagged transplant.
1/1/2015
guest That is very nice looking.
For a second there I thought the "whiskers" were missing from the passenger side.
1/1/2015
guest I've got a buddy in NJ now! Twins! lol. Mine is on the right. His is on the left (assuming a guy, could be totally wrong). I think his vin was #4145 and 2013 standard 85. I have the P85 though and also my windows are a bit darker because I have 3M Crystalline 40 tint. He's got PA tags. He's legally allowed to not have a front license plate. I'm not. LOL. No way I'm drilling into my nose cone... It's nice to see a Model S out here in the wild. It's not like CA, they are still very rare sights out here. Hopefully one day all these chargers will be taken up by Tesla's! We need 3 more...

1/1/2015
guest You can attach the license plate holder to the grill below the cone using wire ties.
I'll try to dig up a picture of my car...found one...
/Ed

1/1/2015
guest yea, I've seen that post and I've gone through the other threads here regarding front license plate. I'm just choosing not to put it on. I don't like the look of any of them lol. I doubt I'll get stopped for that around here.
1/1/2015
guest I'm the type of guy that gets the book thrown at me for any infraction so with my history I won't take the risk.
Plus my EZ-Pass wasn't working through the glass so the license plate is a handy EZ-Pass holder.
1/1/2015
guest i thought the same way until last Wednesday when I got pulled over and was given a ticket for it.
you WILL be caught, eventually. Is it worth the $100 to "get away with it" for however long?
1/1/2015
guest That may have been me. Were you in a MS as well? If so it was someone else and there must be another gray MS around KoP, b/c I haven't seen any others around town to wave to.
1/1/2015
guest Mine doesn't work either. I'm getting red lights every time I go through. It's not the transponder, bc when I hold it outside the window it works fine. I have it mounted in the right place to the right of the rear view mirror. Just doesn't work through the Model S glass. I believe they are tying it to my account through the camera snapshot after I go through it snaps a pic of my rear license plate. There's no additional fee. Technically I guess I don't even need to have the EZPass thing in my car.
Dude you live in VA. They'll ticket you for looking at them wrong, lol. While they are on top of tinting around here, I don't think they'll notice a missing front license plate. PA cars are common around here and they don't need to have one so they probably don't look for it.
1/1/2015
guest The plate camera wasn't working for me either, so I'd have to dispute a bunch of transactions each month (they default to the max possible...)
1/1/2015
guest Mod note: this thread is for random Model S sightings. I don't want to start splitting up the comments on license plates and EZ-Pass as it will make the conversations messy, but please use those threads and try to keep this one on topic.

guest First model S sighting from my Model S...
A perf white signature... probably on his way to the Service center to get his spoiler as they receive some earlier this week

1/1/2015
guest Perhaps not completely random...
At the Texas Capitol yesterday.
edit: well, that was posted direct from my phone. Sorry it's upside-down!
1/1/2015
guest Am I missing something or do the fog light areas look different on these cars?
1/1/2015
guest The black one looks like it may not have the tech package...(no fog lights, black "whiskers" in the fog light area instead of chrome). I have no tech pack and that's how mine looks.
1/1/2015
guest That is correct, the blue one does not have the tech package.
It is recently cleaned and now looks blue!
/Ed
1/1/2015
guest ... but fun nonetheless. Why just yesterday the spot I went to lunch had a parking lot with fifteen Model S' present. Yes, it was the Bay Area but that many in one place is still a remarkable sight.
1/1/2015
guest Thanks for the explanation - that makes sense. I'm guessing it wouldn't be too hard to modify the non-tech whiskers aftermarket to look like the chrome whiskers. Wondering if anybody has done this...
1/1/2015
guest If you're referring to Pedro's in Santa Clara, I was one of them .
Not random, but your random mention of it makes it random!

1/1/2015
guest So what was the occasion????
1/1/2015
guest No occasion, they just all belong to Pedro.

1/1/2015
guest I'd definitely vote for Pedro then!

1/1/2015
guest OK, so I know this isn't really random but I was invited to talk about EVs at The Conservation Foundation in Osprey (FL) today and they invited me to park right in front of the door. Given the location it had to be a pic worth sharing:

1/1/2015
guest My wife was driving our Gray MS today out of the ToysRUs next to King of Prussia mall today and spotted a Blue MS with (she thinks) MA plates, and a very excited driver waving to her. No pictures but I am posting because I'm curious if it's a board member and what a MA driver is doing shopping at KoP!

guest Saw a silver model s with 21 in silver wheels in my neighborhood the other day. It's great to see one of these beauties in the frozen tundra of Minnesota.
1/1/2015

1/1/2015
guest Saw a blue with gray wheels passing my blue 85 in the opposite direction on Beacon St in Somerville MA Thursday morning around 9:45. May be the same Performance I've seen parked at Porter Square shopping center. Very few out and about in Cambridge/Boston area.
1/1/2015
guest Two at once, today (plus my own). These are getting hard to avoid around here.

1/1/2015
guest Adding these pics of a signature red. While I see them every day here around Menlo Park, the random part is that this one is for sale!
Parked at the side of the road in Woodside, the for sale sign said: $95,000, 1,400 miles, "biggest battery", plus a phone number. I looked at the VIN, it's 5YJSA1DNXCFS00827.
