commasign Mine still shows "December". Interestingly, the option to change delivery location is now gone. Previously I had 3 options to choose from (Rocklin, San Rafael, and Fremont).

MarcG Hey Portland guys, I might be up there late-December with my shiny new P85D if you're interested in meeting up. Dec 26-30 are my tentative dates.
Ok back on subject, sorry! Andrew, would it be worth adding a "Production Complete Date" column in your spreadsheet?
Nov 21, 2014
PlanB I am down. post the dates you are going to be here in the region section. Bridgeport Mall is a good place to meet up.....lots of parking.
Nov 21, 2014
preilly44 I just ordered and confirmed my P85D. Where is everybody seeing their VIN and how long did it take after you confirmed? Do you get a status update email or just have to keep refreshing the confirmation page?
I can't wait!!!!
Nov 21, 2014
randompersonx The VIN appears on the my tesla page. The VIN is normally issued about 6 weeks before the car goes into production.
What does the estimated delivery show on the My Tesla page?
You should put your car on the google docs spreadsheet linked from the top post.
Nov 21, 2014
koreth Expect to wait a few weeks for your VIN. I confirmed on October 14 and got my VIN on November 3. Now that they are actually building the cars, that delay might change, but in any case it isn't instantaneous. I didn't get email about it, but I was visiting the My Tesla page several times a day so that would have been superfluous anyway!
Nov 21, 2014
andrewket I can, but we already have production begins date, and we know it's 5 days to build. Do we think there is additional value to add the column?
- - - Updated - - -
I just looked at the spreadsheet, and all the cars that have gone into production have black interiors w/carbon. This jives with what my DS told me regarding an "internal memo" that said the grey/tan interiors would be delayed a week. I've sorted the spreadsheet now by production date instead of VIN.

Andyw2100 I believe I've read this in a number of places. Here's one of them:
Dual Motor Model S and Autopilot | Blog | Tesla Motors
New Safety Features and Autopilot
The launch of Dual Motor Model S coincides with the introduction of a standard hardware package that will enable autopilot functionality. Every single Model S now rolling out of the factory includes a forward radar, 12 long range ultrasonic sensors positioned to sense 16 feet around the car in every direction at all speeds, a forward looking camera, and a high precision, digitally controlled electric assist braking system.
Building on this hardware with future software releases, we will deliver a range of active safety features, using digital control of motors, brakes, and steering to avoid collisions from the front, sides, or from leaving the road. (Please note this hardware is not available as a retrofit.)
Model S will be able to steer to stay within a lane, change lanes with the simple tap of a turn signal, and manage speed by reading road signs and using active, traffic aware cruise control. It will take several months for all Autopilot features to be completed and uploaded to the cars.

dortor4ev the only factors that should/could affect why some people's cars are getting built vs. other who are not is most likely the following things:
1. Seats
2. Exterior Color
3. Headliner Choice
can people who've posted their cars are being built also post their choices for the 3 things...
mine is:
1. new seats
2. Blue
3. black headliner
my car is NOT being built at this time and is a 634xx VIN
perhaps the people who's cars are being built opt'd for the original seats.

MarcG It's all in the Google doc, see page 1 post #1 for the link. And feel free to add your info on a new line!
Nov 21, 2014
andrewket Look at the spreadsheet. The 4 cars in production all have the new seats, and different external colors. They all have black interiors.
Nov 21, 2014
gpetti And I'm guessing primarily cars that have to travel further to be considered delivered.
oops I just looked at the spreadsheet. Location and vin numbers don't account for this. Maybe they are producing in batches of common features, colors etc. I wonder if the build time will decrease with this streamlined approach.
Nov 22, 2014
LetsGoFast I've got black w/ carbon. Fingers crossed, but no luck so far.
Nov 22, 2014
MarcG Yeah, I think it would be useful to get a sense of what production times Tesla will be achieving on the P85D.

breser I've made a new thread from the unified order and delivery tracking over here. If there's no objection (particlarly from andrewket) I'd like to import all the P85D orders over there. I'll work on making P85D orders able to be filtered so you can have the same functionality you have over here. Any help doing this would be appreciated.
Nov 22, 2014
stevezzzz Is it your intent to have the new thread supersede this one? And/or to keep the spreadsheet there updated as the spreadsheet here changes?
Nov 22, 2014
breser My intent, assuming people are ok with this, is to have the spreadsheet there supersede this one, but instead of this thread linking to a separate spreadsheet both threads link to one. Then if you want to discuss P85D specific delivery stuff you can do so here. I think keeping the discussions separate makes sense. But unifying the data also makes a lot of sense.
Nov 22, 2014
preilly44 I ordered yesterday around 1pm EST, confirmed last night around 6pm EST and had a vin this morning. Scheduled delivery date is 12/29. I'm hoping to get it before 1/1 so I can get the tax credit this year.
Nov 22, 2014

LetsGoFast FWIW, I'd have no objection, at least as far as my data goes.
Nov 22, 2014

Nov 22, 2014
MarcG Sounds great, and happy to help you out! Let me know what I can do.
Nov 22, 2014
breser Not sure why you'd want to duplicate efforts. Happy to give you full access so you can make whatever improvements you want. Filter Views let you limit things down to P85D orders.
Nov 22, 2014
andrewket Yeah was thinking about it more.. That's fine. Whatever the popular consensus is is fine with me.
Nov 22, 2014

Nov 22, 2014
gg_got_a_tesla Don't think so. There were other RWD 60/85 VINs reported on other threads interleaved with the P85D ones.

Nov 22, 2014
jay-bay I know..I know...just going crazy! I did get a call last week from my DS asking if I had any plans for the holidays or if I would be in town. Don't know if that really tells me anything though. Is it just my lack of patience or has anyone ever felt like their DS hasn't been doing everything he/she can for your order? I hardly ever hear from mine, and he generally takes forever to respond to any of my questions. Maybe he is tired of hearing from me? lol...
Nov 22, 2014
breser I've got the unified spreadsheet updated to the edits from 10:20pm on 11/22. I need to build the summary and charts out, I'll work on that tomorrow.
If you want to see just the P85D orders for Q4 or Q1 just go to that tab, go to the menu and choose Data, Filter views, P85D.
Nov 23, 2014
LetsGoFast There is a minor inconsistency in the way you handle delivery dates. In your spreadsheet, you have a column for requested delivery date which should read "earliest" for most of us and for estimated delivery date you are using the "December" or "Late December" value for everyone else, where you use the specific date from the original spreadsheet.
I like the way you color some of the responses, although the sort sequence doesn't seem intuitively right to me.
Nov 23, 2014
randompersonx If he is asking about travel plans, it probably means your car will be delivered in the last two weeks of the year.
Nov 23, 2014
andrewket So what's the URL to the combined spreadsheet?
Nov 23, 2014
LetsGoFast Model S Order Delivery - Google Sheets
Nov 23, 2014
breser Thanks for the feedback.
The dates were one of the inconsistencies between the sheet that didn't have a clear way of reconciling them. The P85D sheet asks for "Estimated Delivery at time of confirmation" and "Scheduled Delivery". While the older spreadsheet asks for "Preferred Delivery" and "Est Delivery". Some people fill in the "Preferred Delivery" as Earliest or ASAP. Some people fill it in as a Month (presumably whatever the estimated delivery was when they placed the order) and some people put in specific dates. The "Est Delivery" usually gets filled in with whatever it updates to over time and then eventually the specific delivery appointment. I mapped things between the two spreadsheets the way I did to preserve data. As you're pointing out "Preferred Delivery" isn't the same as "Estimated Delivery at time of confirmation." But if I put that field in the "Est Delivery" field then for cars with a "Scheduled delivery" where do I put that? Based on how the sheet has been being used I should put "Scheduled Delivery" in "Est Delivery" but then I'm wiping out the data from the original sheet.
Honestly I don't really like the way the dates are done in the old spreadsheet. Things are much more consistent with the way they were done in the P85D sheet. I'll see if I can adjust things in a way that isn't too confusing to be better. The way the sheet is setup it produces data that isn't normalized in a way that's terribly useful.
The sort sequence still needs work. But the 2014 Q4 sheet should be the same as the old P85D. Sorted by production start and then VIN. At least the sort order looks the same to me if I filter out the non-P85D vehicles.
Some other thoughts I should have mentioned last night but failed to do so. Option mapping was a pain. Several people put nothing in the options field of the P85D sheet, in those cases I left all the options blank. Some people did "All except ...". For those that said "All except pano", that presents a problem because I don't know if you ordered a black or body colored roof (P85D's in December can be either). Some people just listed off a set of options. That presents the same problem with the Pano roof as I just mentioned. It also makes me wonder if some of these people weren't getting the red brake calipers and didn't mention it (given that it's a free option). Only one person mentioned the security package (applicable to non-US cars), so I left it blank for everyone else. There was one person who said "All except ... prem ...", which is ambiguous since it would mean they didn't get premium sound or didn't get the premium interior option. Some people mentioned nappa as an option, I assumed this was the premium interior package but if they were converted orders it might have just been the extended nappa leather trim.
I did everything I could to try to make the data I moved accurate. But I may have made mistakes or the information on the other sheet wasn't clear. So I'd ask that everyone take a look at their order on the other sheet and adjust accordingly.
Nov 23, 2014
andrewket Nappa was the third seat option which may no longer exist. Next gen, performance, nappa. My spreadsheet had data validation on to force people to select from a limited set of options. This is required for normalization so the summary works. The options field was left ambiguous, and probably isn't providing any value.
Nov 23, 2014
breser Yeah I realized it was also ambiguous with that as well. I did the best I could with the info I had.
Most of the fields in the other sheet have data validation turned on as well.
Nov 23, 2014
Cottonwood You can tell where the tracking interest is. The vast majority of the 2014Q4 entries are P85D's.
Nov 23, 2014
breser I'm not sure you can draw any conclusions, most of the other entries were from before when the thread said Q1 2014. Most of the P85D's on there are the ones I pulled from this thread's spreadsheet.
Nov 23, 2014
andrewket People will spend more time on topics that personally interest them. Obvious statement I realize. But the P85D is new and nobody has one yet, so it's interesting. The larger thread isn't as interesting to me, because delivery of other models is now common place.
That's why I volunteered to maintain the P85D list at least until EU delivery begins. After that it will be less interesting - to me at least.
Nov 23, 2014
jpet To me EU delivery of the P85D is very interesting. I hope to be one of the first driving one over here.
By the way, allow me to take this opportunity to say "Thank you" for the time you invested in creating and maintaining the P85D tracker. It is much appreciated!
Nov 23, 2014

3s-a-charm Added mine to the spreadsheet... lots of Canadians now that the AWD option is out! I know the 2WD was good in snow... it's snow and hills where the AWD comes in handy! Looks like I was a day late to the party - ordered on Oct. 11th and I see a few ordered on the 10th!
Nov 23, 2014
andrewket I had the first order on the 9th. Order date and to some extent confirmed date don't guarantee production order. The 11th is still early enough to be in the first batch.
Nov 23, 2014
bonaire 3 - you confirmed 2 weeks later, though. They would have given you priority if you confirmed also on 10/11 rather than 10/23.
Nov 24, 2014

Nov 24, 2014
MarcG Yeah I was expecting a whole slew of P85Ds to enter production today, including mine (63084!) but I'm afraid my DS and the delivery manager I spoke to last week were right: 1st week of December it is.
Nov 24, 2014
LetsGoFast I changed the code on my screen-scraping script to run every five minutes, just in case.

Nov 24, 2014
MarcG Nice! Would you be able to share the code?
BTW, I noticed that PatT has entered production on 12/22 (this past Saturday) with tan next-gen seats and piano black trim, which changes from the 12/21 trend of black next-gen and carbon fiber trim. So far the only common denominator seems to be order date... and surprisingly only one Canadian given they got the early VINs (though sample size is still small to draw any conclusions.)
Nov 24, 2014
andrewket Interesting. Perhaps tesla is purposely slow rolling the P85Ds to make sure they have the process down. There are a ton of 12/1 EOLs.
Nov 24, 2014
breser My bet would be there were a few slots open in the end of the vehicles they're building for marketing purposes. So some customer vehicles slipped in tad early. But I'd bet that P85D production began last week or the week before in order to have demo vehicles in stores. This jives with people saying that some stores were expecting to have P85D's this week.
It's also worth remembering that they have to finish building all P85 and P85+ vehicles in the order queue before January. I haven't heard of them asking any of those people to switch to a different model in order to keep their orders. I suspect most of the P85+ vehicles were just changed to P85D, but given the price difference and the performance drop of going down to an 85D I'd bet some people wanted their P85. There's also the people with black roofs and green/brown paint. But I doubt there's enough of those to impact production timing.
Nov 24, 2014
commasign How many days is production? 5 days? Weekdays only? Once done, then car is transported to delivery center for final prep?
Nov 24, 2014
breser 5 days is pretty average. That's counting weekends. My September 2014 car started on a Sunday and finished on Wednesday (4 days). From what I've read here they run 6 days a week, so my Sunday production start might just have been when the computer changed state to start on Monday.
The car may not immediately get shipped out after production finishes since they aren't putting one car on a truck at a time. Though I believe they batch production by destination to limit delays waiting to start transport.
Nov 24, 2014
MarcG Hmm interesting, wonder if I should change my delivery preference from San Rafael to the Fremont factory...
Nov 24, 2014
breser If I was in California I'd take a Factory Delivery. But I doubt it'll change your delivery timing by much. I'd be doing it for the factory tour right when you pickup your car. Other people have asked and been told a day or two difference from other California deliveries.
Nov 24, 2014
MarcG I'm taking a factory tour tomorrow actually and will be hoping to take a ride in a P85D.
Nov 24, 2014

Nov 24, 2014
Dallas1 Congrats!! Put it on the spreadsheet!!
Nov 24, 2014
MarcG Looks like it's already done and sorted. But now it's not in Breser's new master spreadsheet...
Breser, how do you suggest keeping the two sync'ed? Should Andrew point to yours by editing the first post in this thread?
Nov 24, 2014
sandpiper Curious... it seems that the VIN#s that are going into production are all over the place. I'm sure there's a reason why, but it's not obvious.
Nov 24, 2014
randompersonx VIN seems to have very little to do with production order.
That said, 64179, 64182, 64184 all entered production at the same time, and are very close in number.
Nov 24, 2014
breser For the time being I'm trying to keep them in sync. But ultimately I'd like us to get the functionality that you all want on the other sheet so we can just have one. I haven't gotten the summary/graph stuff done yet. Had other things come up yesterday.
Nov 24, 2014
andrewket Please ask if you can see the new "D" line. Cameras are not allowed, but vins are printed on almost every part, so keep an eye out. It's useful to be able to report back what you saw. You'll see vins on white stickers attached to parts, including the seats.
Nov 24, 2014
EarlyAdopter Oh! My dashboard just flipped over to "The Tesla Factory is building your Model S" now!! Woohoo!!

Nov 24, 2014

Nov 24, 2014
gpetti Congrats everyone who has joined me on the production line. I'm excited to see mine complete - maybe even earlier than expected but I've been assured that it won't arrive any earlier than originally scheduled. I think a bunch of cars are arriving in Vancouver on December 8th so presumably the truck ships once enough vehicles have accumulated. That and whatever Canada customs has to add to the equation.
MarcG keep an eye out for my Blue - near the end of the production line

Nov 24, 2014
GetAmped Any thoughts on why my P85D which is in the 63000 range is still showing as "Order Confirmed, your Model S has entered the Production queue" while others in the 64000 range have messages indicating their cars are "In Production and being built"?
Nov 24, 2014
gpetti I got nothing! in the spread sheet it shows you confirming on the 24th and re-confirming on the 29th? If that was true it might explain the situation, otherwise it makes no apparent sense and you should call someone.
I got to figure that Tesla DSs must hate these spreadsheets

Nov 24, 2014
Denarius Everyone who has entered production so far ordered on the 9th or 10th. We know that VIN assignments are not in order and that Canadian orders got the lowest VINs assigned. I'm guessing they are entering production in roughly the order they were placed. There will probably be some batching that impacts this, or items like color of seats, but I doubt much.

darthy001 Might have the first confirmed VIN for P85D in Norway:smile:
Btw, is there any reason _not_ to share the full VIN-number? can any part of that number be misused by other people with not so good intentions?

breser Not really. Anyone that walks up to your car can read the full VIN off the windshield anyway.
