drdui Bank of America excellent to work with!
delivery of Rez 9960, vin 04923 expected on Tuesday 2/26/13. Tesla communication has been a little hit and miss and my delivery has bounced around to several different people, but one process that has been smooth as silk is Bank of America.
first off they have the best rate 2% with an APR of 2.16. Second they will loan you 90% of the price of the car in line 1A of your MVPA. third their customer service is top notch and very responsive. Fourth they know the Model S so there are no stupid questions asking if you're buying a golf cart---they know its a high performance luxury automobile.
So if you're not financing with BOA, I urge you to reconsider.

Honestly I don't remember all my dates. I think I finalized in late November when we got notice they were raising the price. In my mind I had always told myself I'd get the car in late March or April, so delivery of feb 27 at 4pm at my home in Wenatchee WA is WAY ahead of that.

I have not called Tesla, and i'm not planning on doing so, even thou I'm anxious... I'm going to let the system do it's job.

Feb 20, 2013
drdui I disagree with that. I don't think you need to be a pest (as i have read in these threads) but calling once every other week is a good idea so as to verify YOU have done all YOU need to do. My experience has been that their communication is hit and miss but the PEOPLE are excellent when you talk to them.
I see you are in WA, I suggest you call Ali at Bell Square. She's takes care of business.

I'm trying to do a couple of things here. Trying to learn to be a more patient person, and seeing if the system does do it's job. I really believe that TMC needs to build and deliver cars as quickly as possible, i don't think that cars are lost in the production system. Cash flow is important to their success, so TMC and AJA have the same goal...

TampaLiam Good advice.
I'd like to note that PenFed is excellent as well, as others here have experienced.
1.49% is their standard auto loan interest rate up to 5 years. I had considered a 6 year loan elsewhere. Local banks had them at 3.49 to 3.99%. KeyPoint CU only lends to certain counties in CA (and I'm in FL), so no go there.
PenFed = apply online, supply proof of income, supply the MVPA (they call it a purchase order), then a check gets overnighted.
Not sure what their max loan-to-value ratio is... I financed around 65% of a decked out P85.
Check is arriving tomorrow, picking the car up Friday(already available for pickup, but I'm in Chicago on business - flying back to Tampa Friday)

Signed my pre-MPVA on Jan 17th and had trouble after, with some back and forth (had to resign pre-MPVA). Pre-MPVA crazyness ended on Jan 30th. Showing March/April estimate
Nothing since other than the Tesla Factory is building your Model S (no finalize your order button nor delivery window)
Sent an email to TM and they said I will receive a call from my DS 2-4 weeks prior to delivery
P's much higher than me got their delivery window and calls frome the DS
I didn't chose new red, non-air supension and 40kWh

Don't want to fall through the cracks
Feb 20, 2013
Stephen4 You won't fall through the cracks. It's your window of March/April that is still a few weeks away. I would hazard a guess that they will start building your car around the second week of March and have it to you by the end of the month. So, you'll hear from them in about two weeks requesting insurance information etc., then, of course, due to batching and an absolute complete lack of internal information flow from the production department, anything is possible after that.
All conjecture...of course...because that's all we can rely on. Experience is hard to justify here.
Feb 20, 2013
Morristhecat I am in the exact same situation. Similar configuration. I signed my pre-mVPA Jan 9th, also had some back and forth, resigned pre-MVPA Jan 22nd. Verbally told the car would be built in Jan/Feb as a guesstimate, and beginning of March arrival. No button, nothing. I think we will be batched the same. Hopefully it will arrive before the end of March. You are lucky, your Quebec rebate is larger than ours in BC, and ours is expiring the end of March. In the meantime I am checking for that magical red button 2-3 times a day!
Feb 20, 2013
tenstringer009 My dad's in a similar situation. Initially signed the pre-MVPA on 18-Jan, after some back and forth realized that it never went through and re-signed about a week ago. Verbally told it would be completed in March, but no button yet. The car will be an 85kwh one though, so it'll probably be batched different than yours (we were hoping it would get in on this most recent 85kwh batch, but based on no delivery button, it keeps getting less and less likely).
**UPDATE**

I'm curious how they are batching these- would you mind sharing your full config? Plug Me In probably has a good point- opting for the factory pickup probably helped expedite things. Feb 21, 2013
gregincal Interesting thing on batching. According to our tour guide there is some batching by color. And sure enough even though the colors were interspersed on the line, all the cars on the line when we toured were either White, Silver or Brown. Not one single Blue car (although cars in testing were of all colors, so each day or even shift could have a separate color batch). They have racks of all three wheels to attach when the car gets to that point, so certainly no batching by wheel (unless they happen to run out, I suppose).

ToddRLockwood I received my final paperwork at 6am this morning, so I wired my final payment and met my friend Derrick for a three hour ride to Boston in his Audi S6. He was curious about the Model S, so we stopped by the Natick store for a test drive and then went across town to check out the Boston Service Center. There were at least twenty new Model S's in the parking lot. Quite a sight.

OK called and got my VIN. #6602 One step closer. Also, as part of the call I got an explanation of why all of a sudden we have seen so many VIN's and not many in the web or APP. They have changed their process to generate VINs earlier to help people get paperwork and financing in order. Cars aren't moving along any faster. They have just created a virtual que prior to the 1st stage of production that pre-asigns the VIN numbers. Either way 1 more piece to the puzzle. Just got my power ran today so all I need is the MS.

jomo25 Based on recent VINs and Deliver buttons, I'd say its pretty clear they are batching/producing 85s exclusively now. And given the goal to actually have a profit this quarter, I'd be shocked if they didn't do as many 85s the rest of Q1 before 60s (which might mean no 60s in March). PeterK Received VIN 6006 by email: Feb 21
Received call from Tesla Feb 22 with additional information in response to my emailed questions. It does appear they're assigning VINs earlier to help with insurance and registration. He looked up something and said my car would go into production in 2-3 days, would take about 5 days in production, and another week to ship across the country. Allowing for some cleanup/prep in the Watertown (Boston) service center, he expects I'll have the car "in mid-March" - in the center of my delivery window. Hope the snow is all gone by then - they're forecasting another 6 inches tonight...
This morning the app first recognized I have a car and showed me the VIN, but of course doesn't let me do anything because app remote access is off.
Feb 23, 2013
jkirkebo Hmm. Ok. I've been tracking assigned VINs lately because it is a good way to keep track of production rate. But after this change, I'll have to switch to just tracking VINs found in the app since that is the only way to know if the car has entered production.
So my two most spaced data points before this change is then:
Jan.17th 3832
Feb. 17th 6004
2172 cars in a month, 70 per day and thus 490 per week. Nice
After using the app as data points:
Feb.5th 4874
Feb. 21st 6004 (same as above but found in the app at this date)
71 cars per day, 494 per week.
The production rate seems very consistent and probably a lot closer to 500/week than 400/week.
Feb 23, 2013
Tuck95
Very interesting analysis.
Applying this approach and assuming a 7 day production week (assumed in your calculation above, but is that actually the case?), I should get a VIN via app on ~ Monday. Here's my math: I'm VIN 6302, so if 6004 went into production on Thursday (2/21), I should get into production after about 300 more cars are built, so about 4.25 days @ 70 cars/day. Depending on where 6004 was in the production order on Thursday, that means ~ Monday. I'll report back.

Fuxjager I received my VIN yesterday, 6268, in response to an emailed question. My reservation number is 14,318.
Feb 23, 2013
ppl i tried that as well and was off on estimate for last report. problem is that vins are started consec numbers but are not finished that way. i suspect part disruptions are to blame with some cars not finished in order (possibly waiting parts). the only explanation i can figure for why vin 3xxx gets delivered the same week at vin 5xxx. the delivery rate maybe slower to respond to increases in production rate but it maybe a better indication of "true" production rate which i would define as finished cars per week.

Mickfair Looks like my timeline is similar to X-ray Received my Vin yesterday 61xx in response to email with delivery window of 3/1 - 3/15. Finalized on 1/21. Plan to pick up at factory and drive down to LA when it is ready. Looking forward to getting my ms85 grey/grey/pano/air/sound/dual/tech basically everything but the kids seats and the performance engine. Looking forward to working with DS to schedule factory tour and pickup when car is ready. It is interesting how this forum and car has grabbed my attention and impulse purchase, when I was not really looking to replace my great but 13 year old MBz s class sedan. Believe that the MS will be great for my daily work related driving.
Thanks to everyone for their posts; as it is very helpful to learn from those who went before.

swegman VIN 6087 entered production this weekend, according to an email from my DS person. He said I should get the car in the DC area on or about March 13, mid-way between the March 6 to March 20 window. The VIN also shows up on the iphone app, but still not on the web page. This is a white performance with all options but for the parcel shelf and rear seats.

blaz Congrats to everybody who's getting closer to receiving their cars! Reading this thread is trying my patience though
I'm #14181, finalized Jan 15th, 85KWh/non-perf/black/gray/piano/air/tech/sound. For the past couple of weeks I've seen quite a few people who finalized after me with almost identical configs get delivery buttons, delivery estimates and even VINs. On the other hand, I have received none of the above, and a call a few days ago to the Delivery Team yielded no new information. Just a "we will let you know delivery dates once your car gets closer to production".
Am I the unfortunate side effect of color batching or a specific parts shortage, or are there more people on the same boat?
Feb 25, 2013
Morristhecat Here is another data point, as it got my VIN now, via phone, not in app.
VIN 6366

Delivery range March 11- 25
Paperwork complete January 23
Can P353
Feb 25, 2013
dpodoll Looks like VINs are assigned pre-production and linked to accounts for mobile app access post-production. That's my guess
Feb 25, 2013
slyastro I'm VIN #6004, so here's some input !
I just called Tesla today (feb 25th) and was confirmed that my car is built, went through Quality Control and is waiting for shipment to Montreal !!
It's not clear if the car appears in the mobile app during the assembly or at the end of the assembly. But anyway ... if it can help others ...
Now if anyone gets to the Factory, if you happen to find my car (Dark blue) ... please take pictures and send it to me !!!Please try to see if the 85 badge is there ...
I guess it's unlikely since there must be hundreds of cars waiting for shipment ...

swegman At least in my case, I was told that production of my car began over the weekend (they did not specify Saturday or Sunday), and showed up in the iphone app on Monday. So, I think it shows up in the app once the car starts to be built.
Regarding building, I finalized my MVPA around January 24, 2013, and Tesla countersigned on January 28, 2013. Because my car is the performance version, Tesla told me it will be built sooner that if I had ordered the non-performance version. Don't know if that is true, but that is what they told me. Car is expected in the DC area between March 6 and March 20, probably, by March 13 (accoding to Tesla).

montgom626 Mine is a Perf too. Would like to get mine sooner rather than later, but I have no control!!! enjoy your ride!
Feb 25, 2013
bbamrah Interesting. I received a call from my DS that my car went into production this weekend as well, the VIN does not show up in the app yet. It is a performance as well. Who knows when it will be in the app. Not really a big deal delivery window is March 11-25 in Chicago.

Quibbs Reservation 13,506 with a delivery window February 28th - March 14th. Reserved in early November 2012. No VIN yet. No word yet from Tesla since I sent in my Docusign paperwork and selected my home delivery preference. This is for a P85 Blue/Black Leather/CF trim, sound package, air suspension, parcel shelf, 21" wheels (grey). I have ordered so many cars over the last 25 years that I seldom get excited, however with the MS I find that changing the closer I get to my delivery window. I hope I'm not lost in their system. I sent an email last night. I will call later this week if I do not get a response.
Feb 25, 2013
yobigd20 I wouldn't be surprised if it's done already and on it's way out to you.

carrerascott Got my VIN last week from my IDS, but just today the App is showing my VIN (P06040). Does that mean my car has actually entered the production line? My delivery window was Feb 28-March 14th, my final MVPA has delivery date of March 11th. I'm on the east coast, so we'll see...
Feb 25, 2013
swegman According to my DS, the app shows the VIN when the car enters actual production. My car entered production this past weekend (not sure whether it was Saturday or Sunday), and the VIN showed in the iphone app on Monday. VIN 6087 (white performance) anticipated to arrive in the DC area by March 13, 2013, according to my DS.
Feb 25, 2013
carrerascott Sounds like ours could be coming across the country on the same truck.
Feb 25, 2013
ThortsMD My car will be completed tomorrow, and no VIN in the iPhone app yet. I did get my VIN over the phone last Wednesday, though.
Feb 25, 2013
drdui It is mine! It was a bit of a logistical nightmare but 4923 is in MY garage. Delivery was 150 miles from Tesla's nearest service center and the delivery plan changed a few times and snow threatened but in the end a full day sooner then we planned its mine. Tesla folks worked hard making me satisfied.
I love the car. I'd never driven one so driving it was a treat. It's way cool in a lot of areas. But a few initial sour notes.
Two major little things: lack of cup holders!!! Two in the front and NONE in the back. Shameful.
No "oh [emailprotected] handles" and worse no garment hook. Here they are selling a car in the 60-100K market, many of their buyers will have a sportcoat or dry cleaning and for the life of me I can't figure out where I'm going to hang something. Here's this cutting edge car and little attention to detail on stuff that every minivan or compact car has. It's like being a movie star at the Oscars in a designer tux and yet your fly is down.
So far those are the only negatives and the positives are very very very stellar.
Tomorrow is my first full day.
Feb 26, 2013
jweinstein Congrats on the new ride! - Hopefully, this aftermarket center console will prove to be a good resolution: Our Products
Feb 26, 2013
Darmok I lay my dry cleaning flat in the back. There is always too much for a hook anyway, and I don't want to block visibility. I hang my coat on the passenger side seat, also not to block visibility. Works fine for me and is the same routine as my former car that did have hooks. There are definitely some things my other car had that the S does not. It didn't take long to adjust.
Feb 26, 2013
Plug Me In My VIN is 5990 in the app, showed up last week, but haven't gotten any other info from Tesla. Waiting on a reply to email request sent yesterday. I have a feeling, based on other VINs delivered in Cali that mine is done and probably waiting on the same truck that will be bringing those others to Rockville. My window is 3/6-3/20.
Feb 26, 2013
Blurry_Eyed For the handles, I think what Tesla did was create a handhold with those silver extrusions by the interior door handles. I think they actually work better than handles that would be overhead. So when you have passengers in the car and you are about to demonstrate the handling of the car, you can coach them to hold the handholds by the door handles.
What I do for stuff I would have hanged before is put it flat in the frunk or trunk, depending on how much stuff and how many people are in the car with me.
Feb 26, 2013
swegman My white performance VIN 6087 has completed assembly according to my DS and is in quality control testing. Received the final MVPA docs today to sign. My window is March 6-20, and the DS expects delivery by March 13.
Plug Me In, call Tesla. You should have heard something by now. My DS gave me the VIN last week and has called me/emailed several times since to keep me informed.
My DS just called and I mentioned you to him. He looked you up, said he is not assigned to you but will reach out to you as to where you stand. Hope this helps.

Plug Me In Many thanks Swegman, no feedback yet. I was planning on calling in the next couple of days. It really does seem that the delivery process communication is 100% a function of the DS.
