kevinf311 I had a fun moment on Friday evening.
One of my friends had his parents in town visiting and invited me and another couple (plus their set of visiting parents) over for dinner.
As it turns out, my friend's father works for a company that was involved in producing the battery shielding that was added to the cars (at least I think that's what he was referring to). When he found out I actually had gotten my Model S he was super pumped to go see it. The last time he was in town, it was but a dream for me to own this car so I understand why he didn't expect it to have materialized
We went out to where it was parked and I gave him the run down of features and stories of my travels in the car. Additionally, I got to talk about all the new V7.0 Autopilot enhancements that I had just received.
We took a picture of him in the driver's seat and he said that he was going to send to his co-workers and troll them by captioning it with "Look what I just bought!"
Really neat diversion for the evening.
Oct 18, 2015
ibdb Latest Tesla moment came courtesy of my 9-year old.
"How does the autopilot work in other cars?"
It actually led to a discussion of remote software updates and how that works for Teslas as compared to other cars. I think I'm giving my kids a warped sense of normalcy.

brucet999 Why does it freak you out to contemplate drilling a couple of holes?
Oct 18, 2015
JenniferQ Tesla moment from my 15 y/o who's watching me experiment with AP:
"I'll have to tell my kids that I actually had to go take a driver's test and get a license to drive. They'll just get driven everywhere by the car, probably!"
Which then led to discussions of parental controls on the AP so that the car would only take them to parentally-sanctioned destinations!
Ah, the future is always so fun to ponder.

Cyclone And Tesla's penchant for pointing at aftermarket modifications (potentially rightly so) as sources of problems. Andy had to replace his wiring harness for like $1,200; someone else posted of a warranty repair denial because a MobileEye installation, even though the problem was reported prior to MobileEye installation; etc. It is for concerns such as these that I decided against doing the aftermarket NVX subwoofer because I'd have to drill through the firewall. I figured I'd rather live with standard audio than deal with any problems down the road.
Oct 19, 2015
Ugliest1 I don't know the chain of custody, can't remember where I found it a few years ago. I wouldn't bet against it being photoshopped! But in any case with my navigation skills, I need the same luck on a straight road.

brucet999 So no dashcams?
Oct 19, 2015
Cyclone I've thought about doing the dashcam. I haven't gotten around to it yet. The dashcam is probably better because wiring is only getting into a 12v source, not and signaling or cutting through the firewall.

Btrflyl8e On my way home from work today it was nice out, so I had all the windows and pano open. Sitting in traffic at a light, the driver on my right lowered his window and said "Miss, you have a very beautiful car, just beautiful!". And I realized after the light changed my sort of creepy response... I may have caressed the steering wheel a little too much when i replied " thank you, I LOVE her, too!".

Btrflyl8e I met a coworker and her spouse in Ybor City last night for happy hour and dinner. I found parking on the street nearby, in front of another bar. The weather was nice, so all outdoor seating everywhere was occupied. (BTW, I've found I can parallel park this thing like a champ, better than anything I've ever driven).
After dinner I took them out to the car to show off my new lighted applique. The guys seated outside near my parking space asked if it was time for the Tesla walk through. "Sure, join in!" I yelled back. One guy asked, "are you married?" Ha-ha. "Technically, yeah"
Anyway, after showing my friend's husband all the usual stuff, they left and one of the bar patrons did ask to see the inside, so I had him get in and I showed him the usual screen stuff, etc. He was visiting from NC, and was very appreciative of the Tesla time. They cheered as I drove off.
Nothing like $2 martinis followed by rock star treatment! (And no, I was not impaired so don't even)
Oct 23, 2015
hsctiger93 Perhaps the one annoying aspect of ownership comes from the gawkers. You're on a 4 lane road going the speed limit, trying to get through traffic, when a gawker has to pull up parallel to you to get a real look at the car and you can't change lanes to pass traffic because this guy's alternately pulling up alongside you or in your blind spot.
Only thing to do: Punch it. Then you get a happier Tesla moment...

Oct 23, 2015
DJung Well here in Newport, there's just WAY too many Teslas that owners don't really acknowledge each other (sad right?). To be fair, if you tried waving to every Tesla in Newport Beach you'd be waving nonstop at each intersection.
That's why I feel bad when I go out of town and someone waves or gives me a thumbs up and I dont react fast enough for them to see me :crying:
Oct 24, 2015
Pilot_51 I only recently stopped going into shock when seeing another Model S. I'm a waving machine now, with a whopping 5 waves under my belt since May. mwulff Had a really nice Tesla moment yesterday evening. Due to some professional circumstances I had to park on the street in what is considered the worst neighborhood in town, it is the main immigrant neighborhood and many consider it very dangerous. It really isn't dangerous but it is not the best place to be after dark.
So I am sitting there when two children walk by and I can hear their agitated conversation:
"Look dude, that's a tesla. That's the coooolest car ever. who own's that? Have you seen it here before?"
"Nah, I don't know that car, but it's really awesome"
At this point they pass my window and notice me in the car, so I roll down the window and say: "Thanks for the nice word about my car, I love it".
15 minute conversation ensues about the car and the price tag and what job you need to get a tesla. I told them I worked in software and one kid looks at me and says: I'll work harder on math and computers now.
I sort of add that an education does not guarantee success but it does help if you combine it with hard work. My hope is that one of these kids will take advantage of our free college-education system and make a future for himself.
But I have to get going and I get a 4 kids-thumbs-up salute as I leave the parking lot.

DrumCoder Did a 1k mile trip (mostly with autopilot) from Atlanta to Myrtle Beach. Lots of Tesla Time at the hotel, since we stayed at the Best Western that has two destination chargers. Turns out the owner, Jack, is a HUGE Tesla fan, and that's why he bought the chargers. He's actually never ridden in one, though, and was too busy for me to give him a joyride. But, it seemed like we were the favorite guests of the entire weekend, because EVERYONE knew we were the ones with the "cool car my boss can't stop talking about."
I also just had a dashcam installed, so going through and watching all the video of his coworkers taking pictures while we weren't there was funny.
On the way back, we were leaving Augusta and as we were getting on I-20, we got behind a van with a passenger who really, really wanted to see the car:

Cyclone I got the biggest Tesla grin today in Fort Lauderdale, FL. I'm visiting and don't have access to a 240 outlet, so I'm making use of a HPWC just a few minutes down the road to charge each day. We drop off my car and then 2 hours later pick it car back. When we dropped off my car earlier, we noticed this yellow-orange Lamborghini Aventador and took a quick look at it while driving by without stopping. Fast forward two hours later and on the drive home, the Lamborghini races up slightly ahead of me and slowly allows me to pass. At first I thought I was being taunted to race, but I know better than that. The driver is paying so much attention to my car that he didn't notice a red light and we saw the flash of the red light camera go off. He repeats the long review of the car past the next light when I have to give it some go to pass him so I can get to the left turn lane. It felt awesome to safely pass a Lamborghini! When getting to the house, the ICE driver behind me said she saw the passenger holding up a cell phone while they were checking out my car. Cue the Tesla grin!!!!!!!!!
This is not the car I saw, but a stock image of the same one in the color I saw.

shelbri Wife is running in the NYC Marathon so we came down last night. Parked near Jacob Javitts so I could drop her off at the South Ferry at 6:15AM today. Went to the garage this morning and attendant took my ticket and disappeared for 10 minutes. When he finally arrived the charge port was open and the sunroof slightly ajar. He gets out and says "they need to provide better instructions for this car." Apparently, he couldn't figure out how to get it into drive.
Drove up the Columbus circle and parked again so I could get a viewing of the runners. Attendant looks at the car and asks "Chevy??" [emoji15]. (That hurt a little.). I said "No, it's a Tesla. You know, all electric?" He scrolls through the computer screens and finally selects "Other." I decided it was a good idea to go over the controls before letting him park it.
I guess we still have a long road to go in NYC before Tesla becomes better known.

Btrflyl8e Yesterday was our annual family pumpkin carving get together. One of my sisters brought her new bf, and his 2 teenaged children. They were both only interested in my car, pretty sure that was the only reason they agreed to come! Needless to say, before I got my hands gunked up with pumpkin guts I gave then a test ride. They were super excited! And, while my other sister and I chose more difficult pumpkin designs, they all came out great!
Before anyone thinks I have way more talent than I do, my talent is really more around cutting along the lines. My sister and I just have more patience so choose more complex patterns. If you've never done it, I highly recommend Ultimate Pumpkin stencils - Awesome Pumpkin Carving Patterns for everyone. and we just use cheap pumpkin tools from target. No artistic skills required, just fine motor skills and patience.

Caligula Heh. In the 2 weeks I've owned the car, I've had three different AMG Mercedes try and race me (CLA45, and S series of some sort, and just today a ML63)... all in black of course. And I don't even own a P! Typically have a 3 year old in the back so nothing came of any of that, but these cars certainly garner a different breed of attention than my previous vehicles... even the highly modified ones. Edit, just to add to this I had two kids pull up next to me and excitedly requested I lower my window so they could ask me if my car was driving itself. They were smiling more than I think I did when I took delivery of my car!
@Btrflyl8e epic pumpkins. Grumpy cat FTW.

andyaycw A few Tesla moments to post:
Tried to keep the car low-key at work by parking far away (I don't like attention and didn't want anyone knowing who the owner of the new Tesla was). Was running late one morning and as I was entering the parking structure, I got caught behind one of our managers who must have glanced in his rear view mirror and saw me. By the end of the day, it seemed like all the managers in my building knew I was the owner of that shiny black Tesla in the parking lot, and even had a few ask me some questions about Tesla and EVs in general (how far can you on a full charge, where do you charge, etc.)
I'm in a fully-employed MBA program and a few of my classmates wanted to get a close-up look of a Tesla. Class ends, and they all follow me out to the parking lot. Must have been about a dozen of them swarming the car! Felt weird and awesome at the same time...I guess I should get used to the attention the car may draw occasionally.
Was visiting my parents this past weekend and parked in their garage. While I was inside, my dad went out to open the garage for something. One of the neighbors saw the car and said something along the lines of "are you kidding me!?" apparently he knew the deal with Tesla

hiroshiy My 2nd Tesla moment came from my wife, sitting in the passenger seat. We somehow a little bit in a hurry for an appointment, and I was driving a two-lane (one lane each direction) road, when I had one car in front of me. He stopped at a red signal, and when the signal turns green, his ICE accelerated normally and I naturally followed. Eventually he stopped again at the next red signal.
Then my wife complained: his start dash from green signal is too slow! He should drive more quickly or we'll be late for the appointment!
So she is also spoiled with Tesla

ChelleyBelle My MS doesn't arrive for another couple of weeks, but when the husband and I ordered ours a couple of weeks ago, I was so excited, I couldn't wait to tell anyone who would listen. So Monday morning arrives and my 33 fifth graders (10 and 11 year olds) walk in. I greeted them, went through the schedule for the day, and while they went about working on their morning stuff, I discreetly projected the screenshot from the My Tesla page of our build. I sat quietly, waiting. One student noticed the picture, and suddenly, the class went nuts, asking me all sorts of questions. Many of them knew exactly what car it was. They were so stinkin' excited, you'd think THEY were the ones getting the car. We spent about 45 minutes discussing Tesla, Elon Musk, Space X, solar power, Mars, innovations, the future, etc. We only stopped our discussion because they had to go to their reading group.
Later that week, my super shy student came running into the classroom shouting, "Yo, Mrs. P! Mrs. P!! I was coming back from the bathroom and I saw a white Tesla with some sick grey rims driving by! It. Was. AWESOME!!"

DITB San Jose was the first time I ever TOUCHED a Model S. Was even near one.
Here is my story, including a Tesla Moment.
I live in Hong Kong. Read about the Model S in 2012, very excited! Finally put down the HKD equivalent of 5,000 USD in the beginning of December 2012. I work as a pilot. At the end of month, I got a last minute change, flying into San Francisco. Rented a car (no Model S rentals back then), drove up and spent New Years Eve with friends in Healdsburg. Next day, the very first day of 2013, I went to Santana Row, with some relatives living near by.
Imagine, I put down a deposit for a car I only read about on the internet. I had never been close to one - yet. So here I was, finally at the Tesla Store. At the time, waiting time for a test drive was about 2 weeks. I told the sales rep that I came all the way from Hong Kong, and I had a deposit down already for a Model S. He slotted me in for a test drive, and I was so ecstatic. He let me floor the car totally, although it was limited to ... I think 65 mph. Not to worry, I really got confirmed that this was THE EV that would finally spark the EVolution.
Having just seen the launch event video recently, I had to try this of course:
This was my very first Tesla Moment. Maybe not as funny or awesome as others posted here, but it had a very significant impact on me.
Had I only had the cash to buy some TSLA stock back then .........

Caligula I had one today. Went through the McDonalds drive through. Kid at the window knew what the car was and complimented me on it, said how he loves Teslas, etc... made me feel pretty good. Then after handing my change to me he says "so, since you have a Model S let me ask you something... would you like to donate to XYZ charity today to help starving children?" Ugggg. I say sure, hand him the loose change (the better part of a dollar) and prepare to drive forawrd. Thats when he thanks me and says "You know, as a Tesla owner I was expecting you to lat least give a whole dollar".I was not amused. However it does remind me of the recent South Park episode with the Whole Foods cashier asking for donations.

On the way up, I came up, at a decent clip, to a tight right-hander with good visibility. I let the car roll into it, expecting some electronic pushback. None that I could detect by mid-turn. So I nailed the go-fast pedal.
I got a chirp from the rear, the slightest of sideways action, and left my mark on the pavement. The rest of this drive was leisurely, but my grin stayed.

Btrflyl8e I took a friend to the hospital for a TEE, so when she was done I had to drive my car up as they wheeled her out in a wheelchair. The male nurse wheeling her out said to her "OMG, is that a Tesla?" and then she said he made a weird growly sound (?). Poor girl, she was all groggy and just wanted to go home and eat something, but he was asking me a million questions about the car! He said one of the doctors there has one, and another doctor was jealous, and was also a huge fan and wanted one badly. JMG Yesterday at the Dallas Service Center getting some work done, I got to just hang out and chill in the waiting room. I saw two families come to pick up there car. I chatted with them a little bit, it was great. I felt like a established father in the hospital nursery going around and shaking hands with all the new parents.
Another cool moment at the service center yesterday: As I was hanging out and waiting, a gentlemen came in and started talking to the Tesla employee at the front desk. I overheard the conversation, and he said that he's been considering buying a Tesla and wanted to get some information on it. The employee said that this was the service center, and he'd need to go the NorthPark mall and they would be able to help him a little better (but he was very nice about it). Knowing that here in Texas, all test drives have to be scheduled in advance through HQ in California, I chimed in and said, "Hey! I'll show you my car!" He agreed and was very excited, and mine was just finished and was pulled out front. So I went through the entire walk through and showed him everything. He said he's never ridden in one, but a friend has one and has sent him pictures. The look on his face when I punched it was awesome.
Anyway, our "test drive" lasted about 20 minutes. I knew he'd probably rather his friend get the credit, so I told him to ask his friend for his referral link if he ordered to get the $1,000 off.

beeeerock Yesterday running around town with my wife getting the weekly groceries etc... stopped in traffic next to a truck driven by a younger guy wearing a camo hunting jacket. We'd seen quite a bit of camo already that morning and had been making some jokes about how it really shouldn't be a fashion statement. However around here, it unfortunately goes with just about everything - including striped track pants.
And not just at Wal-Mart either. But enough of that.
We were still laughing about camouflage fashion when we go stopped at the next light... next to the same guy on our right. This time he gesturing frantically for us to roll down the passenger window... so I did.
"What kind of car is that??"
"Tesla. All electric. No engine, no gas tank, no exhaust pipe... just batteries!"
"COOL!!!!"
(light turns green)
"Google it" I said
"I'm going to!"
So who'd have guessed... the car even attracts positive attention from the camo hunting crowd...

Max* Had a Lexus follow me into a carwash. As we pull into the bay for vacuuming/etc. the driver comes up next to me and says "I usually use the touchless carwash down the road, but since a Tesla pulled in here, I decided I can do it on my car too".
I didn't really know what to say...

SW2Fiddler How about a hearty handshake and my favorite Bruce Campbell line, "You got CLASS, kid!"

Barry Do you mean you pulled into a "insert the quarters, grab the hose, do it yourself" car wash, or one with brushes?
Nov 25, 2015
jerry33 There are also carwashes that you don't do yourself but that don't have brushes. Generally, the car doesn't get very clean (if it's dirty to start with).
Nov 25, 2015
Max* Brushes. O no, the horror :sarcasm:
It's just a car, by the time it's a few years old it'll have scratches on it anyways, so I don't get the whole "let's use brushless carwashes only". They do a worse job (at least around here).
Nov 25, 2015
Barry So far, I've been doing the brushless washes, but as you and Jerry state, it doesn't get very clean - especially this time of year as I start making weekly drives up into Colo ski country.
Max - I wonder what color your car is and if you've noticed any swirls, etc. from the car washes?
Nov 25, 2015
Max* New blue. And I have it all, rock chips, swirls and holograms. I probably should've complained about the holograms at delivery, but I didn't notice it right away.
I'll wax it next spring, and it'll get better for a little bit and then will go back to being swirled/etc.
I'm 100% sure my old car had swirls on it too, but I've never realized that that's something I need to look out for, so I never really looked at it to find out, KWIM? If it didn't bother me then, why should it bother me now? You can't see them from 5 feet away, so... eh, whatever.

msnow What's a hologram in the paint look like?
Updated:
Never mind, just googled it.

bmah Had a neat Tesla moment in Emeryville while driving my son to school this morning, waiting to make a left turn behind a matching Roadster. My Model S is silver, not the most common color, but I'd never seen a silver Roadster before today, not even in the Tesla-land that is the San Francisco Bay Area. It was a busy intersection, so we both waited awhile for an opening, and we got a few ogles from drivers around us. We ended up gunning the go pedals together to get out of the intersection as the light turned red. My son thought it was very cool that I could keep up with a Roadster (the secret of course was that we weren't going all that fast, but a little lateral G force makes everything seem faster to an 8-year-old). An added bonus for my son was a few minutes later when the stars finally lined up right for us to auto-park on the street in front of school.
(And hey Roadster guy, if you're reading this, I wanted to give you a wave, but you weren't looking at me and I didn't want to distract you with a honk or a headlight flash.)

pdxgibby Had my first Tesla Moment today (day 5) of ownership. I was coming out of a restaurant for lunch and I was getting in my car and there was a guy getting into his car next to mine. He said, "Excuse me, sir. I'm homeless. Can I live in your car?"

brucet999 I was all primed for a Tesla moment when I drove for the first time in "Blue Max" to the Newport Aquatic Center for my morning rowing session.
Far from wowing the other oarsmen and kayakers there with my new pride and joy, as I arrived I found three Teslas in the parking lot.
Well, it is? Newport Beach, after all.

SmartElectric On a recent road trip a few hours north of any superchargers here in Ontario Canada, we stayed overnight in a small town (no destination charging, and no chargers on plugshare available in the area). We visited the local breakfast diner the next morning, as my wife was leaving a local patron stopped her and said "is that your Tesla?!". She proceeded to answer all of the questions posed by their table of interested retired men. They asked all the usual questions, but the best one came at the end when she showed them the key, and they looked and said "that's your car, but what does your husband drive?", she laughed and told them a Smart Electric Car, the looks were priceless. I then explained my story of buying my Smart ED and how much fun I have every day taking it through the city streets (avoiding the highway/major streets). My youngest son told them the Smart is the best car for him, because he gets to sit in the front (only has two seats after all)!
We don't go a week without someone approaching us about the car. I'm telling you, Tesla better be prepared, or their website will crash under the load when the Model 3 is available for reservation!!

Joetnr1 I've only had my MS for a few days and my 3 year old twins are already obsessed. They especially get a kick out of the fact that when I play songs from "The Little Mermaid" that the album pictures pop up on the screen and dash. My wife took them to school this morning in her Acura and texted me this conversation between the three of them:
Immy: I don't see Ariel on the screen
Mommy: Sorry, only Daddy's car does that
Immy: I wish this car could turn into a Tesla
Des: (sighs) Me too
3 year olds!!! So funny....

Shinteetah Okay, reading TMC had suggested that I should be ready for some attention, but I really had no idea.
I picked up the car today. My mother-in-law, not familiar with Tesla, had driven us (service center is in Ohio), and so I put her in the driver's seat for the orientation, as I'd been through one before and knew most of the drill. She was shocked and delighted, and so we offered her a ride as my husband drove her car to our next stop to shop together.
As we were making the relatively short drive, I heard a honk from my left. I looked over to see a Chrysler driver giving me an enthusiastic thumbs up. I returned it with a grin.
We parked at the store and got out, and a man approached us. "Is that as good as it's supposed to be?" he asked.
"I've owned it for 15 minutes and I love it," I answered.
We talked about five minutes about Tesla, and then we went to meet my husband. When finished, we dropped my MIL and her items off at her car, and then my husband and I started back to the Tesla, where a guy was taking pictures of it. He was a bit embarrassed to be caught, I think, but we told him it was fine! and we talked for a bit.
Then we got in the car to drive home, and a guy in a truck was plainly ogling and grinning.
All of this before we even got back in our home state. My advice to single people who are seeking conversation-starters is to borrow a Tesla. And leave extra time to get in and out during errands.

electrish This must be Cincinnati!
We don't have that many Model S yet, so they're still somewhat of a novelty.
But the numbers are slowly increasing.
Congratulations on your nice new ride!
Dec 6, 2015
Shinteetah Yep, Cincy! Our IN service center is coming, they promise....
Dec 6, 2015
DCGOO They are selling like hotcakes here. I see them all over the place around Indy. I have another week or two left before my obligatory trip over to Cincinnati.

Pilot_51 This is Tesla we're talking about. That could mean years. Detroit Service has been "coming soon" for about 2 years if not longer. Though, granted, that's because the law doesn't allow manufacturer-run public service centers. Regardless, Tesla shouldn't make promises that are blocked by something outside their direct control.

stevezzzz I'm used to having Tesla moments: my MC Red P85D is my third Tesla and it still turns heads, particularly since there aren't that many on the road here in Colorado. Yesterday, I was waiting on the sidewalk for my wife to pick me up in the S, so when I saw the familiar red Tesla pull up to the curb in front of me I stepped forward, opened the passenger door and started to get in. A disembodied voice floated up from the driver's seat...a man's voice: "Can I help you?" Confused, I bent down to peer into the cabin and was met by a quizzical look on the face of a perfect stranger.
It wasn't my car.
I explained my mistake, we had a good laugh and I held the door for his wife, who walked up while we were talking. Turns out they're on their third Tesla, too, and awaiting a fourth.

Max* Had a contractor show up to bid on a job, as he's walking in he tells me "even if I don't get the gig, can you show me the car after we're done?"
(Usually I hide the car for fear of price gouging, but from our phone convo I made it clear that I've talked to other contractors, and I'm willing to wait till spring to do the job, unless he gives me an awesome deal now. So I wasn't concerned about him seeing the car)
The same contractor also said one of his friends works (from my impression, high up) in a very big and very popular dealership chain we have here (they own lots of dealerships for many different types of cars). His friend said he sees Teslas approach as the future. No one likes to come to a dealership and haggle, and everyone likes a car to meet their exact needs. From all the negativity I read about dealerships hating the Tesla no haggle / custom order model, this was a pleasant surprise. I'm sure they still hate the direct sales model, though.

Shinteetah As I heard it, the Indianapolis lease fell through at the last minute, though I don't remember the reason given. So at least the promise was made when they thought they had a location. The net result though is of course the same.

Aussie Bob My wife and I had several Tesla moments the other day. We received a notice from Tesla Montreal that there would be test drives at a hotel near us in Ottawa over the weekend. We decided to go and see what was happening. As we were talking to the sales rep, a man and his wife, who had driven up from London, Ontario for the hockey game asked if they could have a test ride. They were visibly upset when they were told that all available tests drives were committed to other potential customers. We overheard and offered to give them a ride in OUR car. Well they were blown away with not only the car, but the fact that an owner would promote the car and let them ride in their car! He was a former Mazda dealer as well!! A potential future owner!?,
At the same time a couple who had just been married were having their wedding photos taken. They were looking at the car off and on and the groom eventually came and asked if they could have pictures taken of them in our car. The groom explained that their first date had been at a Tesla test drive session and they would really appreciate the opportunity to sit in a Tesla again. We agreed and photos were taken from everywhere even though the sun roof of the bride in her wedding gown and the Groom in his penguin suit!! The bride was over the moon and the groom had a huge grin on his face - I scored one today!!

lucy Tesla Moment helped my Core Values.
I've had my beautiful MS for 5.5 weeks with no unique moments worthy of this thread until yesterday.
So I'm in my once weekly progress meeting with my supervisor, and just as am about to dig into the list of dumps and f-ups that my co-employees have left me, my supervisor asked me if I got my electric car yet and is it really all electric?
Well this derailed my train of thought, and probably prevented me from getting further into trouble for not being a team player and cheerfully accepting the shortcomings of my sucky co-employees.
So I did not give my supervisor the list of lapses (but I'm saving the list, just in case - CYA), returned to work knowing that informing my supervisor would have been useless anyway. So this Tesla Moment may have helped get me out of future pointless meetings, yet another way owning a Tesla has been a life changing experience.

kyalami So I have had several entertaining Tesla moments over the past 6 months of ownership, some of which have been detailed in this thread. Had another funny one yesterday. Coming out of my coffee shop at 7AM I intersect with Senior Citizen couple coming in the opposite direction. As I approach the car and activate the door handles the husband notices and starts to make a beeline for me and the car. The conversation went like this:
Nice looking car there!
Thank you!
Is it a Malibu?
No, It's a Tesla!
Who makes that?
Tesla, located in California
Never heard of 'em....sure looks like a Malibu to me!
You'll be hearing about them in the future!
You get good mileage?
The Best!

Tourman I think I've been through all of the Tesla stages by now. It was cool when I got attention at first, but now I have the kid in the beater who pulls up his phone and starts recording my car...while driving on the highway. That happened a few days ago - I was only hoping the guy did not rear end me. The sad thing is I saw a kid in an Audi do the same thing some time before him.
Dec 10, 2015
dabbler I have been reading these posts and they remind me of countless similar situations that I have had with my Vixen 21 TD motor home. Its not a TESLA Model S but, it has been one of the only vehicles I have owned ( and I have owned more than I can count) that has the greatest "cool factor" of them all.
This February I will pull the plug and purchase a CPO Model S and then regardless what I am driving, Model S or the Vixen, I will have either a Model S moment or a Vixen moment.
