    Got my email
    Hi Major,

Hope all is well. Great news! Your Model X has begun the very early stages of production and at this time, I would suggest to apply for financing directly on your MyTesla account.

If you have any other questions, please let me know so I may further assist.

Under promise, over deliver! Not an unwise approach. Hopefully Carlos is doing the same for me! his email yesterday to me said.. "Model X is supposed to begin towards the end of this week! The deadline of the 14th {July} will be tight, but its possible well be able to make it!"

Here's hoping that he is under-promising for me!

Just received call from DS that we can take delivery this Friday, Saturday, or Sunday! The status never changed in the system; it still says "Ordered". DS told us on 6/16 that it will go into production in a few days but we never heard back and we never received the final MVPA. We thought things were delayed. Looks like what happened was he was confused because we also ordered the S (delivery is TODAY!). Guess we will be in Fremont 2x this week! I am excited now!!!

No, not unwise. And in some ways I'm glad I only have a day and a half of knowing my car is completely done before I get to pick it up. The waiting for the past few months has been hard, but if I knew my car was at the service center, just not quite ready for delivery yet, would be excruciating.

Like I said a few weeks ago, I'm inviting myself over to drool on it (I'll pretend) since it is nearly identical to mine other than being 7 seats and White interior...

Picked up today in Paramus, NJ. Car was in great condition. I couldn't find any issues with door alignment or functionality. Only thing I noticed was some dirt on the headliner. Really happy with the car.

Paramus service center was absolutely bonkers. There must have been 50 Tesla's in the lot with shipments coming in as we were there. According to the staff it is the busiest they've ever been and are expecting a busy next three weeks.

Just picked up my car today. Everything looks fine except about 2 hours ago while playing with the 2nd row seat adjustment on the touch screen and then got a '2nd row seat not latched' warning. Found another thread here and after powering the car down for 10 minutes, the warning went away. If it comes back a few more time, I will schedule a SC visit.

Hard to be without it, I'm sure. Do you have photos to sustain you?

Picking up mine this evening, assuming that the derecho potential has diminished by then.

You might want to request the door sills to be included, too. I think those are aluminum, and likely not difficult to do. Just a thought.

I'm scheduled to pick up my Model X tomorrow. The DS just called and let me know that it has a dent in the lift-gate, that most likely happened in transport. She sent me photos and it doesn't look that bad. Tesla will have to get a new lift-gate from the factory, have it painted then installed. The wait would be 4 to 6 weeks. I have decided to go ahead and take delivery, then have them pick the car up for repair when the part arrives.

58xx picked up yesterday, great delivery @ West Palm, FL. Production quality fine, received sunshade. Only issue, must have just missed updated FWD seals, air leak at Interstate speeds, otherwise beautiful condition and no other issues.
Build date May. Good luck everyone taking delivery in June. Enjoy.

The MX is without a doubt the most unique ride available. First Autopilot stretch was a real hoot. I may not be speeding anymore... spending more time in the X is better than at any destination!

I thought that after all the snooping around these forums for the past several weeks, particularly around the topic of model X quality, that I thought it appropriate to post my first message on these forums just took delivery yesterday of mine yesterday.

Order Date: May 1, Delivery Date: June 22 (VIN 7334). P90D Model X, Silver, Black Onyx, all options except L.

Actually, I was pretty apprehensive as I have had very little exposure to the Model X, and just reluctantly sold my Model S (vintage 2013 ~4000-ish P85) in May, so driving around my carbon cars for a while had me craving a new Tesla, but a little uncertain on the X. Well, how to put this anxiety melts to excitement pretty fast (about the same as the 0-60 in the X) exceptional delivery experience in Salt Lake City (Charles), and immediate albeit very limited driving feedback so far: ridiculous/insane/love it.

This forum is been incredibly helpful for me Ill now start reviewing the various opinions on paint protection, exterior and setbacks.

    Thx all,

Picked up our car this morning. 90d vin 4936. Drove 35 miles. Now waiting for a tow truck. Car is undrivable. One of the third row seats was broken when we picked it up so not the best introduction to Tesla so far. Tesla customer service is great though. They are sending an uber to take my family home and I will go to the service center to pick up a loaner model S. Tow truck might be a while though.

I got a warning saying that the suspension was disabled immediately followed by a warning saying that the front motor was disabled. I could drive for another 30 seconds so I could get of a busy road. Then the car completely stopped. Now I get more warnings about the car needing servicing and the 12 volt battery being low. Tow truck will be here in one hour and the uber has already come to pick up my family.

Our X finally made it home. We picked it up at the Scottsdale Service Center this morning. A great experience!

We then took it to pick up my wife's clients for a day of house showing (she is a realtor). We drove it for about 70 miles and we were all very excited to do this in the new car. All the doors were opened a lot today and seemed to work great. Just was reminded that there are no sensor on the inside of the Falcon Doors and got banged in the head by them once. No harm done (to head or door). Getting people out of the front and the falcon doors is a bit awkward. We'll see if this improves with us using it. Having the option to run the AC from the mobile app before you get in was great. We could keep the car cool in today's 113f without any problem.

Yes, I received the sunscreen and had Tesla put it in today (did I mention 113f?)

The light coming through the falcon door top windows is too bright on a day like this. We will probably have that tinted more (an AZ problem I am sure)

Overall, the car looks good. We didn't inspect it too much at delivery. It was inside and hard to see and it was too hot outside. We looked at it more in the light later and I think the driver side falcon door should be aligned better than it is now. It is pretty close though. I didn't drive it at high speed yet without he AC blasting but I didn't hear any annoying wind noise either.

Overall, a great first day. Tomorrow, when I show it to a few more people, I will take some pictures. I LOVE the red :)

My last communication from DS happened earlier this week, on the 21st said.. "Model X is supposed to begin towards the end of this week!"

Next thing I know today he says the "estimated to complete production over this weekend"..
From what I have seen on factrory tour and videos, the body is welded together as a so called "Body in White" and then is assigned it's VIN. It goes shortly thereafter to the paint shop and then comes back to a holding area that is badsically in the "rafters" where is is kept until the remaining parts are available.
I suspect the DS does not even admit your vehicle is starting production until all the parts are available and it is going down the final assembly line.
To my knowledge when things are going properly it takes way less than a day to run down the assembly line..
Figure TMs stated 2000 vehicles a week, 7 days a week, that means slightly less than ~ 300 a day..
I would estimate the assembly line only has room for ~ 75 cars.. likely less..
SO I would figure that step only takes a few hours given they don't run the line 24 hrs a day yet.. In fact crews go home when the quota of the day is reached!
  • Jun 24, 2016
    TFgalactus
The wait in the "rafters" could be long, if the parts are held-up.
  • Jun 24, 2016
    DiveDeep
Indeed, that is, I believe, why the DS doesn't tell you when it goes into body I white or even paint. Also could be partly why cars get produced out of VIN order.
  • Jun 24, 2016
    TFgalactus
Finally, the reason why I see vins that are much higher then mine already delivered! Maybe having that 7 seat configuration is not important, I'll take the 6 seat if that get it delivered faster!

Picked up my X this morning from SLC. To my surprise it had a new firmware update from the last 24-48 hours. The FWDs now only open to umbrella mode by default (but only if there's something above?), and you can then open them the rest of the way if you want. Best part - after opening fully, you can save the location to always open fully!

Fit and finish was pretty dang good. Panels all looked aligned fine. After parking in a steep driveway, then going back home it looked off by a millimeter, but went back to normal later. Seals seem fine. There were a few that at first looked a little odd, but upon closer inspection it was the end of a strip or something and it was supposed to be that way. The front triangle windows are great. Seemed much better than @MikeL's April/May X (the only other X that I've had time to inspect that closely). No wind noise at speed. Strangely there were a few marks on the white seats around a seat belt buckle, and one in the headrest area. But it didn't bother since it looked so beautiful otherwise, and I have to be realistic that this thing is gonna take some wear with 4 small children. No paint problems that I could find. It wasn't quite as shiny as it could be since I requested the predelivery detail not include a wax or seal, as I'll be taking it in to get wrapped. They were super nice about that - even offered to have me bring it back in and they'd do it for free if I changed my mind about the wrap, or it wasn't a full wrap.

It had 14 miles on the odometer at delivery, and they had charged it to 100%. I was glad - drove 147 miles today, at much higher than rated Wh/m (so much fun). The car is simply put, amazing. Absolutely amazing. Any one of the features is enough to drop jaws, but you just keep going through one after another. Got some great reactions from family and friends who we had kept it a secret from. First the fact that I got a Tesla (and the confusion about it being an X, not a 3; the latter everyone knows I have a reservation for) brings grins. Then you open the doors and jaws drop. Then they notice the huge windshield and they freak out. Take'em for a drive and accellerate, and they giggle. Demonstrate autopilot with lane changes, and they freak out again. Seriously, today was way better than Christmas since I was a kid. I must say, though - I've only been in P's before, and while the acceleration is still amazing in a regular 90D, I could definitely tell it just didn't have quite as much oomph as a P. Guess I'll be spending more $$$ on my 3 (X is technically the wife's for toting around the family). Also solves my dilemma about getting a larger battery or not with my 3, since it should be required for P.

The doors have been opened and closed a gazillion times today, in every way imaginable. Passenger door didn't want to shut automatically only once, and I think that's cause it was mad that it didn't want to open with my Ford Focus' mirror a tad too close. Other than that they've been flawless. Fits like a glove in the garage. I raised my garage storage several inches last week, and I have about four inches clearance with the doors fully opened on standard suspension height. LOVE the countdown in inches to the front wall when you pull in.

Yes, I got a sunshade, but I don't plan to use it ever. Tint is pretty good; throw on some sunglasses and it's perfect. We originally said we would get the front windows tinted right away, then decide on the rest. Already decided we'll do the rest (besides the windshield), at the same level as the front.

Got the hitch receiver for the tow package; haven't tried it yet. Gonna be a bit before I go fetch my utility trailer to try it out.

Anything else? I didn't know how lane departure warning works (like virtual rumble strips). That was awesome, a definite squeal of delight moment realizing what was going on. Now I just have to survive commuting in my relative piece of junk Focus for probably two years until I get my 3, while my wife drives the kids around in this remarkable piece of the future called a Model X!!!

Oh, remembered some more. Did a perpendicular auto park at about 145 miles in. Worked perfectly, even had to hit the brakes when someone walked behind me, and then I resumed.

Well crap, now I can't remember the second thing I was gonna say. I must be distracted as I'm sitting in the X in the garage, checking the firmware version.

I've had range mode enabled, A/C has been very tame... Temp and humidity have been very high (96+), car is set to 70-73 degrees, only time it was very loud was while supercharging with A/C on.

If I pre-cool my X AC while my Tesla is in the garage using the app, the compressor can be heard throughout the house.

I can run all 5 of my home thermostats and not here any of my exterior AC units. Is the heater also this loud?? Never got a chance to test it as I am in SoCal.

I got a April 2016 S loaner and I thought it was broken for being dead silent.

Please Tesla, fix that noise with a OTA update.

It is loud on the S too. I'd imagine it would be louder on the x as its bigger and needs to cool a larger space so bigger motor perhaps. It's definitely the compressor for the Ac. It's even louder when it's hot outside. I usually shut off the Ac and turn it back on. The sound comes back but sometimes goes away right away. Try turning the Ac on and off intermittently with a few seconds in between and see what happens.

Though it may not be best for vehicle but i doubt it. My s is still going strong and the Ac is much better than the loaner's Ac that I received with a drive unit exchange.

Ugh what a pain, apparently my x has just gotten done getting painted and is in its early stages. Factory is closed from the 1st to the 5th of july. My delivery date is on the 30th of June.

Airfares are already expensive and a last minute flight for three is even more and if I book a flight, I'll be stuck in the Bay Area waiting and then factory shuts down which means it may be 2 trips.

Sigh... As fate would have it with my luck and anxiety, I get to be right at a suspenseful point and caught between a unique issue once again.

    What to do...

If your 4yr old is 48" he can go. My 9yr old barely makes it, but all 3 of my kids are tiny for their age.

From my DS, and I'm sure it's posted somewhere:
    Factory Tour Requirements
    • You may bring a group of 4 people, including yourself.
    • Everyone must be wearing long pants, sleeved shirts (short or long), and closed toe shoes.
    • All children must be taller than 48 inches; please note that our factory has a strict guideline for children that they must be over 48 to attend as it is very loud and is not ideal for infants or small toddlers.
    • No photos or videos inside the factory.
We won't be taking the factory tour this time...we're just gonna pick up the X and hopefully go on the tour (4 of 5 of us) soon.

Hope we can squeeze in for delivery on 6/30!!! I believe there's deliveries on July 1? I just know there's no factory tours on 7/1.

Picked up our Model X this evening and drove it back from Chicago to Michigan. So far, I love it. One very minor fit and finish issue (driver's side FWD doesn't line up quite right at the back top). Autopilot is amazing. :)

One piece of advice. You should have every conceivable piece of document with you either in physical or electronic form since you are coming in from afar. On my Wednesday pickup, my DS did not mention that I need the Article of Corporation for my trade-in Model S since it was leased through a corporation and we cannot proceed without it. So I have to drive home and made a scan then email to him. It is fortunate that I live <30 minutes from the factory but I was late for a meeting.

Just a FYI since you are flying in, going home to pick up a piece of document is probably not an option. ;)

Picked up my car from Tyco on 6/23. The delivery process was not great, but I'm glad to have my car, at least. Fit and finish were mostly fine -- there was some paint on one are of chrome, rubbing compound and adhesive on a few places, trim/seal sticking up above the driver side FWD, a LOT of light scratches on the dark ash trim on the passenger side of the dash and a few more on the center console tray. Nothing insurmountable,of course. And the firmware wasn't updated (display showed the alarm clock, and indicated that it needed to be scheduled/there was an update available). And the charge port door wouldn't open with a button press of the charger, which they decided was an issue with their charger and not the port door. Both of those are easy for me to deal with after the fact, so I let it be.

The main problem was that the delivery person kept insisting that "Oh, they just come like that. It's normal," instead of actually, you know, getting the detail guy out and fixing the problems. He also felt that rubbing HARD on the paint with his t-shirt, scratching it with his nails (to try and get paint off chrome), etc., was clever. Painful to watch, and somewhat unstoppable. I had mentioned to them that the car was going to get a full wrap within a day or so, and so how would they like to handle the scratches that they were willing to acknowledge should not be there. Since I'm obviously not fond of scratches on this vehicle, leaving the car unwrapped wouldn't be a good idea. They answered that they would put scratch repair for some of the scratches on the due bill, and I could bring it back sometime (they didn't have any touchup paint). So I asked how that would be handled, since I would have had the car wrapped by that point. I was told that they would replace the wrap/reimburse the cost of the wrap for that panel and I could have it done at the place who did the original wrap. Great -- can we add that to due bill, so that it's clear what has been promised? I was told No, they cannot add that to the due bill, because it's not part of the car. So we wrote it on some other piece of paperwork from them. Would the DS please initial or sign this, so we have something to go on when we come back for paint work on a wrapped vehicle? Um, er, uh, let me go and check if I'm allowed to do that... And then she came back later with copies of the paperwork in a folder and handed it to me with no further mention. At that point, I didn't have the fortitude to press the issue, and let it be. It's possible that most of those scratches on the paint will be hidden/fade into the film anyway. Mostly it was the attitude to which I have objections.

Also, the paperwork for registration was incorrect. This may be important, especially for VA residents, to keep an eye on. The dealer handles the registration, and they have a preprinted form that apparently one is supposed to sign without reading. They check off all boxes stating that it is for personal use only, no section 179 deduction will be taken, no depreciation for mileage will be reported, etc. I was able to get somebody to reprint the forms, and they printed one that I could fill out correctly. That was given to me by a different delivery person, since mine (and the car) were being looked over by the detailer, finally. (No, scratches were not removed. But excess adhesive was, at least.) While I was filling out the registration, delivery guy came over and told me to just sign it, and they know how to fill it out. I enquired if they knew my intended usage of the car, business or personal, etc., and he told me again to just sign it. So, I had to put the pen down, and ask very clearly again, whether or not he knew that I wanted a 179 deduction? Because I do. And the original form handed to me said I do not. Eventually he acknowledged that they do not know my intended usage, and I can fill out the form correctly.

    I did get a sunshade.

None of this was a big deal, but it certainly soured what should have been a nice delivery experience. For what it's worth, I'm sure they were as frustrated with me as I with them. All the same, I did get a gift bag with mug and pen -- @VABarb, I'm surprised you didn't; guessing it was just an oversight on their part.

After that, we took the car home, and installed the after-market (brighter) LEDs throughout the vehicle. Love the extra in the trunk and under the front seats and front footwell especially -- what a difference! I was thinking that, with the pedestal seats, things are likely to fall and get misplaced under there, so the extra lighting may help. They look great! Most were an easy swap; one or two were difficult to remove (trunk hatch in particular).

The following morning, my husband installed the BlackVue 650CH dash-cam for me, and the wiring is completely hidden. Like some others here, he ran the wires through the channel for the rearview mirror. And then we took the car to go and have the wrap and tint done, and there it sits for the next few days.

Oh, two questions for X owners out there:

    1) Is the horn REALLY difficult to press? Mine doesn't sneeze (we are making an add-on so that I play sounds for a sneeze, bicycle bell, or "Excuse me, please" from inside the car soon), but pushing it seems to require an inordinate amount of force. I will say that I have pretty much no arm strength, and it could just be me. There doesn't seem to be a way to try a polite tap of the horn, because of the amount of force needed to push on it.

    2) Firmware updates. I picked up the car, and it indicated that it had an update to install. I installed upon arrival home, and the release notes indicated that the update was to change the behavior of the FWDs, and that they would open to one of two positions, depending upon surroundings and that can also be geo dependent. The update also added auto open to the driver's door upon unlocking from the keyfob. All good. Update said it completed successfully. But then the following evening, it showed a firmware update available. I installed, and it gave me the same release notes. I'm not sure if this normal behavior, for an update to sometimes try and install itself twice? It hasn't prompted me since in the app, but I also don't have the car now, so maybe it's because it is not on wifi? I don't know.

Wow ... really disappointed to read about your experience particularly the attempt to remove substance from paint.. with tshirt... I would give feedback to manager.. you will be getting a survey... use that opportunity to communicate this. I'm interested in the after market LED's - what and where did you get them. Thx
Just got mine back from full xpel wrap (whole car + seat backs+ door sills). Really looks great and gives me piece of mind about the paint.

I did receive the survey, and I completed it with some level of detail in the notes area. I don't know actually receives or reads the survey, but I hope it gets to the right place.

For the lights, is the full Model X set at this link: Ultra-Bright LED Interior Light Kit (4 Bulbs)

And here for an article referencing them: Upgrading Tesla Model X lighting with Ultra-Bright LEDs

Good to hear this is back in your hands! Still most of a week until I get mine. Besides there film on the outside, and the tint, and seat backs and third row headrest backs, they're going to doorsills, trunk ledge, and see if film protection might help the scratched areas on the dark ash trim. Funnily enough, the place I'm using does do some detail work for Tesla, when they have more deliveries than Tesla can handle they themselved. It was pretty apparent that I wasn't one of the lucky ones there!

Looking forward to getting the car back, and will post photos of the completed job then.

My husband's S delivery from there last year was fine, and service has always been pleasantly and responsive... Dunno what happened. Maybe just end of quarter rush.

Aftermarket sounds. I believe it's an arduino board, but might be a raspberry pi controller. That is mounted in a box with a speaker attached, and then a cable with push button to activate it will be run to somewhere in inside, where I can reach it. Short press played sound 1, double press plays sound 2, and long press plays sound 3. The sounds are stored on as mp3s on a microsd card, if I recall correctly.

I think we are going to see if the frunk liner comes out without too much ado, and then mount both the speaker and an ez pass transponder behind the nose cone. Unlike the prior style Model S, the nose cone is not designed to be removable on the X.

This project is likely to be done next week. The box is made and everything is tested and works; need to get it mounted.

If more details are wanted, let me know and I will get them as soon as I can!

I'm disappointed in their training of customer-facing staff, from how to answer the phone and not randomly giggle, to how to validate a customer's concern, even if it is not immediately resolvable.

I am NOT disappointed in their vision, their vehicles, their sense of humor (blaming hubris for not meeting goals? That's just funny.), etc. Since most of my Tesla interaction is with the car, from here on, and not with questionably trained staff, I feel comfortable with the purchase.

Sorry to hear about your not so positive experience with delivery. I will also be taking delivery of my X at the TyCo store location probably late July or early August. If you don't mind saying, who was your DS? I haven't heard much from mine yet, but didn't expect to hear anything until sometime in July really. If you don't want to say or would rather direct message, I understand. Any other advice to a future X owner that you would care to share, particularly to the TyCo location or for taking delivery of the X? Curious, did you use the Delivery Checklist that's been posted on TMC?

    Advice:

    1. Check over the registration paperwork! Especially if you're going to claim any tax benefit (section 179 deduction or mileage deduction), it's MUCH easier to submit the correct paperwork in the first placed then to try changing it later.
    2. Take another adult with you, to help check over the car and to make sure you don't feel outnumbered.
    3. Focus on cosmetic issues, seals, and anything for which you might otherwise be responsible after leaving.
I did use the checklist, at least somewhat. I'm glad I had it with me, at least.

Took delivery today. No issues noted with the car. Firmware 2.24.30 so expect an update in next while.

Stuff with the car: Sunshade. Hitch is now in a fitted canvas case with Tesla branding and a handle. Pigtail for brake controller. Front plate mount. UMC bag with 6-15, 14-50, and J1772 adapters. QuickStart guide. Cup holder inserts, phone charger inserts. Towing eye.

Swag: two Tesla ballpoints - really heavy nice ones. Tesla umbrella. Two Tesla lapel pins. Black Tesla T mug. Heavy paper gift bag. No fob pockets.

Impressions: doors seem to be working well. More power than my 2013 S85 is noticeable. More stable than the single motor S. Better front visibility. Rear visibility marginal, not because of the seat (mine has no middle seat and I keep row 3 folded) but the tinting of the rear glass and the narrowing top to bottom makes it seem both dim in the mirror and narrow in the vertical. I have no concern about the fixed spoiler as it is much thinner than, for example, a Prius'. Subwoofer on premium sound system is plenty powerful.

I can't yet figure out the phone charger install, but am sure I will find a video or something.

About reflections in front window. Yes in certain lighting there is visible reflection of the grill, not mitigated by seating position. I'm not bothered by it. Also, the A pillar and HVAC vents reflect on the side, which is also true in the Model S. Black headliner reduces the A pillar reflection to nearly nil.

I too took delivery yesterday. Same firmware as Hengist. Really like the new packaging for the tow hitch, very classy to have it's own foam box inside a fitted bag. I believe it even has velcro on the outside to keep it from sliding around in the trunk.

I only got one pen, and one pin. Umbrella and mug seem of decent quality too, and are pretty damn cool. The mug will go well with the Darth Vader mug I got for Xmas last year. :p;)

Delivery experience was great. Sean (Shawn?) at the Seattle SoDo Service/Delivery Center did a decent job. Would have preferred to have my DS Marshall as he had to keep checking with him on due bill items (see below). In the time I was there 2 S's went out the door and there were a couple other X's being staged as well. The Seattle Service Center is a bit lacking for room so they had us all pretty crammed in there. Not like some I've seen where you get a whole room to yourself. Then again, being part of the end of quarter delivery rush probably didn't help on that front.

We found a couple VERY minor issues and one not so minor (more on that). I had to really pick nits with body panel alignment and found a few very minor issues. The driver side front quarter/bumper to be off a bit, the hood is about 1/8th to 1/4 inch off to one side, the passenger side FWD has a slightly larger gap between it and the front door, and there is a bit larger a gap on the rearmost chrome brightwork when viewed from the rear. There is also a very small ding in the paint just under the driver side door "handle" (boy is that term dead or what? ;) ). The somewhat large issue which was taken care of on the spot was a piece of trim on the driver side FWD that wasn't properly fastened and showed a large gap when open. Took a tech less than 5 minutes to fix it.

Doors working flawlessly so far. Trust me when I say I've been trying to confuse them too. I've had auto present both on and off and I've closed and opened them manually and with the brake pedal. I even left the drivers side open and walked in the house for a minute or so. Still working just fine. They also seem easier to manually close than I remember. I thought they would fight me more but they close pretty smoothly.

Driving experience is fantastic! What an amazing vehicle! Can't wait to log some serious seat time.

    Cheers!

The home stretch is a LONG one. My DS said my car completed production last week and has been expecting delivery possibly yesterday, then updated to Thursday this week, but still confident before the end of the month, and they requested payment. Since I'm financing through Alliant and they wire the funds direct to Tesla, I had to go with what Tesla was telling me... they put June 27th on the MVPA, which is what Alliant bases there info on. Hopefully I'm not being foolish paying before receiving the car. They are so busy with deliveries I can't get ahold of my DS to get an update, and now that Tuesday is almost over and I still don't have an actual delivery time set, I'm getting nervous! <sigh>

It's all relative, I should stop worrying about it, but it's tough when you're so excited to get it! :D Fingers crossed for June delivery. My car at least exists, it just has to make it to Portland and get checked over by the swamped SC. At least, that's what I keep telling myself, in between voicemails to my poor, beleaguered DS.

Picked my MX 90D up from Paramus yesterday. Great experience, staff were awesome. They spent over an hour and half going thru all settings and functions of the vehicle in detail.

Almost everything about my car is perfect -- very very happy with the build quality. I went over every single exterior panel in detail, no panel was misaligned, no imperfections in the paint whatsoever. The falcon wing doors are so cool. I was initially skeptical but after experiencing them I am total fan. The naysayers be damned, Elon was right, the falcon wings are amazing and I'm so glad my car has them.

I'm still deciding on if I prefer the windshield or not, as they are the only issue -- ghosting is very obvious. While it's not as bad for *me* as some have described (it didn't make me dizzy whatsoever), it will need to be fixed. The size is simultaneously awe-inspiring and a bit annoying (given the option, I think I might prefer a normal visor panel which blocks the sun completely and holds my sunglasses).

Summarized, I can only echo what everyone else is saying. This car is amazing, I wouldn't trade it for most anything (save my loved ones). It's that good.

Well, there goes this Thursday. Sadly something with my car did not pass the final inspections at the factory and it had to go back in for repair. Woo hoo!! MX Vin 43xx picked up in Northern VA at Tyco SC on Saturday 18 June. Took my three daughters ages 14 to 30 along as fellow inspectors, testers, questioners. Divided the TMC Checklist among them and I gawked while they proofed. Zero issues. Zero.

90D Six Seat Pearl White Tan with light headliner 20" wheels Obeche wood Autopilot Premium Interior/Standard sound, accessory hitch.

    15 miles at delivery.

Note: The first Model X I have ever seen in real life was mine.

    Ten Day Report:
    1. I love this car. There is nothing I would change about the configuration or the pre-delivery choices I made.
    2. I am 6' 4" and worried if I would fit comfortably. Needless worry-- no issues. The seats, the adjustable wheel, the lumbar supports are all perfect for me.
    3. Huge interior with six seats. I run with third row down, so there are zero headrests in the way of rear view. In traffic I run with rear camera on in top half of display, eliminating blind spots. When a car disappears from camera it is visible next to me.
    4. FWD work well in my garage where they reliably open all the way or partially depending on whether the garage door is open or shut. If garage is open, the garage door is overhead on the tracks and the FWD only opens partially (but enough to get in and out). Overall FWD have had zero glitches. We are a family of geeky engineers so we did systematic trials to learn how and what triggers door sensors. FWD perform reliably.
    5. Panoramic windshield is awesome. Tint is fine for sunniest day in N VA. Sunscreen coming in the mail.
    6. Autopilot trials completed successfully on parkways and Wash DC beltway. I have pretty much learned what kind of roadway up ahead with make HAL (our autopilot) get nervous, so I take control before HAL gets the jitters. Upcoming 2000 mile round trip weekend of July Fourth will test HAL's endurance.
    7. TMC Shoutout: my windshield washer didn't work. Topped it off, but still no joy. Consulted TMC Forum for insights before I called SC. A good thing I did. Forum post said to make sure you push the button in past the first stop all the way to the second stop to make the sprayer work. Hah! Problem solved!
    8. Acceleration: Glad I didn't shell out $30K for Performance plus Ludicrous. My plain old 90D has more kick than any car I have ever driven. Would wallop the Mustang 302 or Porsche I had when I was young.
    9. Quiet. No squeaks, groans, bangs or clunks. No wind. Just the 21st Century Whirr of Electric Horses squishing me into my seat.
    10. Always More Surprises. I love that this car has a long list of features I don't even know exist now, but that I am sure to stumble upon in the days and weeks ahead!

All of my doubts about quality have been alleviated. This car looks great, the fit and finish are perfect, everything works, it handles like it's glued to the road, and --easy to forget-- "No Smoking"!

    Ludicrous Speed Delivery in MD

Paid deposit on a P90DL with *everything* except the 22" wheels, Black on Black, 6 seat on May 8th.

    Confirmation on May 15th.

    VIN issued is 84xx

The car is ready for pickup this Friday June 30th in Rockville, MD.

Not even 60 days from deposit to pickup date... They also didn't notify me it was in production, finished, or being transported. I thought these notices were all part of the fun?

Now I have to scramble to open a gap in my schedule. I thought the car would be early August... So I am grossly overbooked. Ach!!!

Careful when you place your order. At the rate they seem to be moving I fear they will soon be delivering in 30 minutes or less.

Congrats! Your update gives me some hope for July delivery. The fact that you have an 8xxx VIN and are now taking delivery seems to indicate that 8-series VINs are mostly all completed through Production and/or in process for being delivered. That probably means that 9xxx VINs and maybe even some 10xxx are now entering and/or completing production. I wonder if anyone with a 9xxx VIN has been scheduled for delivery yet...?

Assuming at most 1000 Model Xs are produced each week (best case I think is 50% of total Tesla weekly Production)...every 1000 vehicles should cover each next incremental series of VINs. If the 8xxx VINs are starting to get delivered, 9xxx VINs are probably completing Production as we speak, which means 10xxx and 11xxx VINs are probably in line to begin Production soon (next couple of weeks?).

I'm clearly reading way to much into the "tea leaves" and probably way off with my optimism...but hey, I need something to do and be excited about until I get to touch my X. :D

Someone on the TM forum reported delivery of VIN 9004 yesterday, Still problems with Model X? | Tesla Motors so we all must agree that VIN delivery does not equal actual number of cars successfully manufactured and into customer hands. The delivery number is the numerator we are all trying to figure out. Just cant figure out how many VINs have been skipped over or will fail to materialize into deliveries this quarter...
