Model X June Deliveries part 4

  • Jun 11, 2016

Mine came in to the Cincinnati service center while I was vacation the week of Memorial Day. Just picked it up Thursday. No issues that made me add anything to the due bill. It finished production in mid May so I was hoping I might get the active spoiler but no luck. No sunshade either. VIN 43XX multi coat red with all black interior 90D with PUP confirmed mid January. Really loving it so far. Just dropped it off to get wrapped this morning and on plane right now on another business trip. Can't wait to get back home and drive it around some more.

Picked up the X I placed a reservation for in December 2014 and ordered in March today at the Cleveland Service Center. Great car so far, a couple of minor fitment issues but nothing the needs immediate attention. The DS spent almost 2 hours with me and my family and I still found a bunch of things on the way home that I need to read the manual for.

Tried the autopilot and it is amazing. One thing I noticed is since one pull gives cruise and 2 auto it is easy to forget what mode you just engaged.

    Will be fun learning everything!

In the middle of the dash there is a cruise icon to the left of your speed and an auto steer icon to the right of your speed. They turn blue when they have been activated. Sometimes the auto steer icon isn't there indicating it's not available. (I've seen this with a super heavy a misty rain so far).

The Order Agreement is sort of a "preliminary" MVPA. Talk to your DS, I had the same issue and within an hour she had it posted. Once my MVPA posted, there was a (2) after the MVPA, which probably, on Teslas end shows the original and the MVPA.

90D - pup vin 4936 finished production yesterday and is going to quality control. After that it will go on a train for Chicago.

The estimated delivery at the moment is June 22nd but that seems optimistic.

Now Doc, you know X club rules. The first rule of X Club is: you do not talk about price of the X Club. The second rule of X Club is: you DO NOT talk about price of X Club! Third rule of X Club: if someone yells stop!, goes limp, or taps out, the X is over. Fourth rule: only two guys to a X.

Do you know how long was the car in production and QC? Was it 1 or 2 weeks? TIA.

Honeymoon is over. After only 3 days, driver's side door latch malfunctioned. Door won't latch properly or respond to comnands. Can't lock the car.

Love this car, but the door issue is still plaguing owners.

Anyone else in the June delivery experienced door issues?
  • Jun 12, 2016
    dutchinchicago
It entered production on May 18th and was completed on June 11th. So it as in production for 3 1/2 weeks. It just entered QC so I am no sure yet how long that will take. My DS estimates a delivery date of June 22nd but he also says that it takes 12-14 days for transport so those estimates don't add up. I am hoping that because it is the end of the quarter it will be send by truck which only take 4 days.

I will let you know when "Big Red" finishes QC.

Picked up last night, very pleased with build quality, I'm keeping notes to write up a personal opinion after a few days of "typical" use. So far, extremely positive. This car is unreal to say the least. I did get a sunshade, and yes I installed it. I live in Florida after all

So just got an update from my DS, X is in paint and still on track for delivery by the end of the month. so close, its killing me. I even thought of flying out to pick it up in CA but cant get away ah well. the team here seems to be good so hopefully they will catch alot of these issues I have been reading about before i see it. Anyone else have any experience with the Raleigh, NC SC?

Very nice. Is paint one of the last stages? I'm so excited as well. Would just like a solid delivery week lol, im in California so hopefully soon.

You are right.. My Tesla is not updated frequently - your DS is the best source of information.

good thing - you would also have to pay CA tax if you pick up there.... :( I thought about doing the same thing....still waiting...

Interesting. My VIN is only a few hundred above yours and was assigned on 5/20. But my DS still tells me I should be expecting mid-late July delivery. That doesn't fit with the recently reported sharp upswing in production. Like you I have a well equipped 6-seat 90D. I'll be very happy if I get the car in July as still promised.
  • Jun 13, 2016
    DiveDeep
And I have a VIN 600 below yours, nearly identically configured but Metalic blue with black leather.. I am told another 10 - 14 days before production and delivery to Utah "hopefully by July 14th"..
I think my DS is very conservative in his estimates as @ccutrer has commented before.

Nope, paint is the FIRST stage after the body shell is welded together. Everything else gets assembled onto it after that.
I the factory they have MANY (as in over 100) shells that are already painted, hanging on tracks above the production floor, waiting to go through the final assembly line.

Take a look at this video..
  • Jun 13, 2016
    Amoroso6
No I actuall think it's one of the first after body assembly before drive train and interior. But I also think they go by quickly. Just ready today that tesla anouced they are hitting their targets of 2000 s and x per week.

picking up our vehicle wednesday at 6 6/15 thats just 50 days from confirmation to delivery.. tesla is stepping up their game!
  • Jun 13, 2016
    dutchinchicago
50 days ? I have been waiting 137 days so far but who is counting.

I know that Tesla time is not linear but how is it possible that my car just went to QC which typically takes a week and then goes onto a train which takes 12-14 days and still should be ready for pickup in 10 days.

Someone told me that 17 cars where delivered to the downtown Chicago Tesla store so I biked over there to check vins but mine was not there yet. Not that I am obsessed or anything.

Congratulations! Please post a few pictures or videos...mine will hopefully look similar to yours, sans 6 seats, I went with 7. I hope mine is also delivered in about the same amount time (which would fall into July as estimated when I ordered), though I have yet to see any traction on my order either via my DS or My Tesla page. Then again, only been a couple of weeks since my order confirmed, so I guess I should be patient and wait.

Where are you seeing these "over 100" painted shells on tracks waiting for final assembly? The line of S's all painted up are in final assembly.

Nice! My vin is nearly 500 under yours and the earliest I could pick up is this Friday here in WA. Arguably a lot closer than PA!:p;)
  • Jun 13, 2016
    ccutrer
Usually this is not possible. The Tesla app can't be used to track the car until the car has been marked as delivered in MyTesla. So I'm guessing this was accidentally done early on your friend's car.

Picked mine up yesterday, VIN 54XX. Had a small tuft of foam sticking out of the side of one of the FWDs, but otherwise it looked great. 90D, spoiler was fixed, sun shade included, no accessory hitch (which I didn't order).

Drove off in my X today (VIN 55xx) from Austin SC! Looks perfect to me. While taking delivery, a transport truck with about 8 more new Teslas began unloading and nearly all were X's!! The SC was crazy busy. My X arrived at SC the morning before I took delivery, so clearly minimum if any rework required.

Woohoo! Hopefully I'm in the June thread to stay now! Just got an e-mail requesting payment, and an MVPA in MyTesla showing
vehicle to be delivered on or about 06/25/2016 (with odometer at 50, in case anyone is still wondering about that; when I take delivery I'll be sure to make note of the actual reading).

Just picked up my X90D at the Decatur, ATL SC. Great experience. Got some nice tokens but no bow! :). Also didn't get an active spoiler but oh well.

Couple of issues: wind noise in the passenger window; and the right door makes a clicking noise when it's open.

I'm headed to the SC to get it checked out.

Unfortunately Carlos continues to be Cagey! I emailed him and his response was the same cautious statement..
"No hassle! Your Model X is due to begin production towards the end of this month, so I should have you behind the wheel in early July at the latest, not much longer after the customer you mentioned (@ccutrer).. A bit disappointing since I am seeing Blue X90D with 8XXX VINs going as far away as the East coast!

Ah well as a wise old Jedi said "Patience young padawan"!

Or perhaps the Klingon is better.. "Patience is sometimes a more effective weapon than the sword." .. dropped that one in for you @ccutrer

I got 2 pieces of information today. One from my Owner Advisor (never knew I'd get one, but he called to introduce himself) and the other was from my DS. Has anyone worked with an Owner Advisor prior to delivery? First I've heard of this.

The Owner Advisor told me over the phone a June 20th date...but he didn't know if that's when production ends and QA begins but he said things should wrapping up around then. I'm a bit skeptical about what this means, but I believe him that June 20th is some date as that's what he read from his systems.

My DS (who's super responsive and informative) emailed me with a pro-forma MVPA that has the additional costs I'll have to pay like registration and taxes. I forgot for awhile about the large taxes :( He also congratulated me and said: "Your vehicle has been scheduled to enter production in the next week. We are anticipating delivery here in the next two weeks!" I asked him over email if June 20th meant anything, and if I could schedule perhaps June 25th or June 27th. He'll probably respond back tomorrow and will tell me he'll know more details once the X actually goes into production.

    It's coming soon!
  • Jun 14, 2016
    ccutrer
Take with the typical grain of Tesla salt - but my car entered production yesterday or so, and my MVPA generated today shows an "on or about" delivery of next Saturday (including transportation the short hop along I-80 to Utah). And given the recent Electrek article claiming 2000 S+X production per week, with X approaching the same rate as S for the percentage coming off the line not needing any additional work-- it definitely seems feasible for production start to delivery to be two weeks or less. Especially for you, living relatively close to the factory.

Update: My DS called me and said I'll be going into production on or around June 20th. He's expecting to set a delivery date between June 27th-July 1st. He also stated that once it comes off the production line, get's QAd, it gets detailed and needs 48 hours to "dry and complete".

Once the car goes into auto detailing, that's when he'll reach out to me to set the date...basically 48 hours from his call is the 1st available time I could pick it up at the factory.

Hope I can stay in this thread!

The energy graph is energy divided by distance. If the car uses a lot of energy but is stationary (e.g., being completed stopped in traffic for a long period and running the AC), the graph will spike like that.

Well, here's something you don't see often on the Model X forums. A delivery specialist called to say my east coast 90D is ahead of schedule. I ordered in May and was told to expect a July delivery back then. That's now been bumped up to June.

The car recently made it to the Connecticut transfer facility and is going into quality control this week. I've heard of a few 50 to 60 day turnarounds in California. I find it a bit shocking for a east coast delivery. So many people have waited so long. Bizarre but awesome. I hadn't even contacted the delivery specialist yet as I assumed it would be another month before a realistic delivery.

I spoke to my DS on the phone today and have learned that I will no longer be getting my MX in June. Although my car has finished production. I'll start posted in the July delivery thread shortly.

For other Greater Toronto Area (Ontario, Canada) MX members this is what I was told:
The first shipment of Toronto (Lawrence E location) was received yesterday or the day before but they were still unloading the truck. Only Signatures arrived. They still have to do some Canadian inspections as well as some software updates at the SC before they get delivered.

For my productions 90D, my DS "pinged" my car and it pinged back, which means it is built but is currently going through inspections and testing. It should be ready for delivery to Toronto, Canada in a week or so. Production has slowed down on the MX as they are working to ensure minimal "issues" with the cars. I was told that shipping can take up to 4 weeks to Eastern Canada depending on whether it goes by Train or by truck. The mode of delivery depends on how many cars they have ready to go when it comes time to ship my MX.

My Vin is 764X. Confirmed March 19, 2016.

So, ladies and gentlemen we're finally the proud owners of a Model X. We picked it up yesterday morning and it is an unbelievable piece of automotive engineering. Quiet as can be, and surprisingly smooth. The subtle blue hues of metalflake in the paint make it glitter at just the right angles. Other than some minor trim tweaks, it is perfect. The only thing that I don't like is waiting 24 hours for the MyTesla app' to become functional.

As per your tesla app.. I recently was educated as to why this happens. You used to be able to sign into your app a few days before delivery, but too many people who were giddy for their new toys erm, cars would honk their horns or turn their lights on and off while the car was in transit via truck. Caused some headaches

So I was told today that my x is ready for transport. I talked to my local SC today to buy the Chademo adapter and I asked if they had been delivering many x's lately and what condition they were in. She told me they have been very busy this month already delivering mostly X's. She did say early on they had to spend a lot of time to take care of the issues we have been reading about but the ones coming in now look in her words Awesome. She said a little tweak here or there but nothing like it was. can anyone let me know what their delivery time was on the east coast from pickup in CA?

I confirmed my MX on 5/13, @Amoroso6, so I would expect your's to be produced ahead of mine. But, because you're in NC, it will be interesting to see when your MX will get to youR SC for pickup. I've scheduled mine to be picked up at the factory.

Congratulations. Finally a delivery report from Scottsdale. There are a ton of new cars sitting in front of the SC with at least 5 model Xs but unfortiuntely not mine yet.

[Mine had 21 miles on it and the energy graph had a spike that went up to 1,600whm! Dyno maybe?

QUOTE="Hengist, post: 1584668, member: 14706"]The standard, at least when I took factory delivery in July 2013 of my S, was to put it on the dynamometer and run at full power for a couple minutes. Part of final QA then.[/QUOTE]

My comment was not to be taken seriously:)...........

Picked up VIN 80xx. One problem with the 2nd row seat not latching so they are working on it. Outstanding service and great overall experience. Got the sunshade too.

    Incredible car.

Picked up VIN 31xx today. She was manufactured in April, no idea what happened to her from that point to today, but it was a long wait. No visible defects, looking forward to some time with her this weekend!

Thank you for the compliment, it has taken me some time to get to this stage, but I'm not done. I have a couple of more things to do and I'll post pics as I go. The next part, I think, is pretty cool. It should be done this Friday.

Vin 957x taking factory delivery on Monday 6/20 after extremely fast production.
Our car may have accelerated production for a few reasons... our previous X was in QA at the factory 3 months.

We had extremely fast production as well, about a week and a half. Was your original X given back and you got a new one instead?

Picked up the car yesterday in New York VIN#53XX. No issues with doors, windshield or latch. The entire experience was wonderful at the Westchester NY DS location, my DS was very helpful. The sound system upgrade is worth it, highly recommended if you listen to talk radio or SiriusXM in the car. Car comes with Slacker and Soptify coming by the end of the year. The car is worth every penny (in this case, benjamins). Spoiler is fixed and no, I didn't get my sunshade, yet.

Did tesla tell you Spotify is coming ?
  • Jun 17, 2016

yup, my DS said that Spotify will be available with the next update sometime later in the year. Unconfirmed at this point. I like SiriusXM so that's my go to for music.

Mine is out of production, too. Ordered 5/1/16, entered production 6/8/16, completed production 6/15/16ish (got an email 6/15 that it is out). My DS, Jessie, said to expect it at the very end of June or first of July, depending on transportation times.

Great news and congrats! Given we are both taking delivery from the same Tesla location, it gives me hope that my X that I ordered at the end of the same month as you will in fact reach me by the end of July or early August, as estimated when I ordered online. Post pictures and please share how your "delivery experience" is.
