Model X June Deliveries part 3

@logan, the June effect is kicking in. Great news for your early delivery... I got email this evening that my X will be in TX early next week. I have had a Model S since 2013 so I am equipped for charging already (using roof top solar), but was very busy last month rating the garage doors to accommodate the FWD's. After we get a few miles on our cars would be nice to meet and compare Tesla experiences. I am in Lake Tavis area.

My 47XX VIN is built and in transit to PA. I was told today that I can expect delivery in the second half of June.

Spoke to my DS today, he admitted the car is in NYC but is waiting on parts for the "door" and there is currently no ETA on parts arrival timing because that system is down.

I asked him for the build month/date of the car and timing on the missing parts.

This really takes the fun out of a new car :(

I was told that we have 1 or 2 weeks today via email. I only got this infomation because I inquired about the status of our X. I was caught off guard, because I was expecting to hear that there are further delays.

So do you need to leave the car directly in front of the garage door? I assume it isn't smart enough to turn into the garage if you get out leaving it at an angle to the garage opening.

    jsollender
I've heard you have to pre-set it fairly straight. Turns off a few degrees of intended path won't work. Current owners confirm this please. That's what regional manager told me.

Just got this email from my DS...:):p:D

    "Hi Barb,
Your Model X is nearing our East Coast rail hub!
Based on current transport times, I am expecting your Model X to arrive to the service center mid next week. Once it arrives to the service center, it will undergo a comprehensive pre-delivery inspection with our service team. At that time, I will reach out to schedule your delivery appointment."

    Congrats on your impending delivery!

No but these forums do represent enough owners to get an idea of the range of VIN's being assigned and delivered and they are nowhere near the 30k mark. We've just recently seen VIN's in the 9000's, and if you read the EU and Canada threads their VIN's are in sequence with the US VIN's.

Bottom line is that 30k reservation number did NOT turn into 30k orders. Not straight away anyway. Many reservations delayed or cancelled their orders. I was invited to order the first of November but didn't pull the trigger until mid April.

    Cheers!

Note that this is similar to the Model S. When I was ordering my S in the summer of 2013, a year after they started building the S's, my DS told me that they still had a lot of people from the original reservation list that hadn't yet configured and ordered the car. And apparently that was the case well into 2014.
  • Jun 7, 2016
    goneskiian
    Thanks for that.

And in other news, in the EU thread someone with an order in Stuttgart Germany just got a 10,000 VIN assigned.

As word of more quality production gets out, orders will start rolling in.

Just got off the phone with my DS here in Seattle. Delivery tentatively scheduled for the 25th. Woohoo!:D:cool:

Might have been able to do it sooner but heading out of town next week and won't be back until the 23rd or 24th.:(

Anyway, I'm happy to finally have an official "delivery month" thread to post in! Nothing like being an "end of quarter" rush delivery!:rolleyes:;)

Got the magic call today. My MX is among the glut of cars overflowing the Dedham MA lot, and they'll deliver it to me on Thursday afternoon. I'm sure it will be worth the long, long wait.

And yes, mine came east by truck rather than train.

So, I too got some random, though interesting news today. My DS replied to my email inquiry from last week (I try to not overly bug the guy).

Car was ordered end of April and confirmed on May 4th (74XX). I was initially told production was expected to start end-ish May for an end of June-ish delivery.

DS told me today car is out of production and is going through final inspections/track testing and will be ready by this weekend for delivery. Sucky timing as I'm out of town for the week, so this will have to wait a few more days.

Model X P90D, Deep Blue Metallic, 22" Onyx Black, Black Leather Seats, Black HL, 6 Seat, AP, PUP, Air Suspension, vin 74xx. Confirmed 5/04 - SF Bay Area

New poster here, hoping for some advice, insight, and/or commiseration regarding my upcoming X delivery.

As a newbie, I can't edit my signature yet, but here's the relevant info:

    X 90D | Deep Blue Metallic | 20" Silver | Tan 7 Seats | Figured Ash | Sub Zero | Auto Pilot | Air | UHFS |
    Reserved: 9/2013 | Confirmed: 12/30/2015 | VIN: 50XX

    Brief timeline:
Placed reservation 9/3/13. Placed order 12/23/15. Order confirmed 12/30/15. Vin number is 50XX.

At the end of March, we received an email saying the car was going into production at the end of March. On 4/19, we received an email saying the car was finishing final assembly in California and would then be awaiting transport from CA to Paramus, NJ.

On 5/20, we received an email saying the car had arrived in NJ and awaiting the final inspection. We were asked at this time to provide Proof of Insurance, etc. Our DS indicated he expected us to take delivery somewhere between May 25-27.

On 5/24, we received an email from our DS saying that the car had failed the inspection and parts were ordered on 5/21 and he would keep us updated as to the status.

We were so excited about the car that on 5/25 in the evening, we decided to drive over to the service center lot and see if we could find our car. It was the first blue X we looked at! (There were a lot of blue Xs on the lot, which bolstered a theory that they were batching paint colors. Anyway...)

There didn't appear to anything wrong on the outside, but looking inside, we saw this.

    [?IMG]

Obviously the interior driver's door panel has been removed, and you can see the diagnostic equipment in the center...

This was a little surprising to us, and we were anxious and interested to hear what was going on. Our DS has indicated he would get back to us after the holiday weekend, but he did not. We finally called him and he replied on 6/3. He explained that there was a creaking sound when the car was being driven which is why it failed inspection. They did not carry the part needed to fix it on hand and said the problem had been escalated to Fremont. Fremont was aware the part was what was holding up delivery and was supposed to expedite it. Our DS promised to get back to us on 6/6 or 6/7 at the latest. I called him after 5 p.m. today (6/7) and got a status update, which is basically that there is no update. They are still waiting on parts with no update as to when they might become available. DS promised to call us by 6/9.

Anyone have a similar story or any advice? Any thoughts on what may be wrong with the door? It is frustrating for me that they really have no ETA, and I don't think communication has been very forthcoming or timely. I realize I've been waiting for this car for years, so what's a few weeks more, but it's almost worse to have it so close and yet so far...

Yes, DS said truck not rail... Did not go as far as to say how close it is, but did say he will let me know when he has seen it with his own eyes. There seems to be a lot heading this way, they still need time to do an inspection, I'm thinking we are 5-10 days away from actual delivery. I will be pleasantly shocked if sooner.

Thanks! Yes, Chris was our DS and was awesome. He took his time to explain everything. We asked to have an abbreviated delivery, since we were leaving for vacation the following day and we had our two little kids with us. Everything took about an hour and we were probably the ones trying to rush out of there! LOL! He did give a recommendation for a clear bra when I asked during a previous visit. I thought the delivery experience was really good, they had the car inside, cleaned up, charged, ready to go!

We took delivery of P90DL VIN 29XX today. The staff at the Dania Beach SC were exceptional, worked tirelessly over the weekend to deal with my last second switch in financing from Alliant (1.49%? Free money!). After about 90 miles of driving this afternoon, the car is pretty much flawless - though I still can't say I've figured out half of the features!

Just started the switch today on our expected delivery "mid-june" this is a crazy offer.

Also, it appears that Telsa has timed production to basically maximize deliveries from East to West -- with most of the mid-late June east coast X's in transit and it appears they are ramping up West-Coast deliveries now... smart move.

Wow, more great news! I like hearing this type of news because it seems to indicate that Tesla is keeping to their estimated delivery dates for people who have ordered in the April/May timeframe. Given I ordered at the end of May with a July timeframe for delivery on the east coast, I hope my order is also on time. @Amoroso6 how long after your order was confirmed did you get a VIN? Wow, that was pretty quick from when you were confirmed, probably the fastest I've seen on this site. I've only had my order confirmed just over a week...but no MVPA and no VIN. Sure, I dont know if it matters but i completed the lease on 4/29 the day after i placed the order. I really doubt it had anything to do with the speed but it may have gotten my MVPA to me quicker. Whatever the reason Im ready, the downside is I will only have it for about 10 days, its scheduled to go to the detailer on the 11th for ceramic pro, tint and mate finish on the seat backs, they will have it for a week but when i get it back it will have a lifetime finish guarantee,

Thanks! From my DS. He was able to see where it was during the entire transit. He knew when it left CA and when it was scheduled and then arrived in Joliet. He didn't know exactly when the transit would pick it up in Joliet and bring it to STL, so he checked on it daily.

Sigh. I ordered 4/12 (the day the design studio opened to the public; I had reserved previously, but didn't get design studio access yet). Estimate at the time for a 90D was May. Still not in production, and DS is still saying late June/early July. And others after me, from all over the country are getting their cars. I really can't complain compared to those that confirmed in December and January and are still waiting... But dude, where's my car!

The wait has been made worse by not telling anyone outside the forums in order to make it a surprise. Luckily or not, a coworker saw my posts and figured it out, then blabbed to everyone else at work. So I at least have a few people I can excitedly talk about it with (and continue telling them no, I don't have it yet).

I got to see an X with Xpel Stealth on the seat backs. I loved it for the interior, much better than the glossy finish. Coming from a guy that hates cars that the exterior is matte (looks too much like a home spray paint job to me).

    AWESOME NEWS for X75!!!

I got a voicemail, an email, and a live conversation with my DS:
"I have some exciting news; your vehicle has been sequenced for production, and we are anticipating delivery in late June! We will have a better gauge on delivery timing once the vehicle enters production, and progresses."

That's the weird thing, nothing changed on the My Tesla site since I got my order agreement on May 5th. So, it is probably still safe to say that counting on your MVPA showing up on your site may not be an indication of production.

"Model X production run-rates are hitting benchmarks. In a tour led by VP of IR Jeff Evanson, commentary indicated that Model X production is ramping in line with Q2 expectations, and we found the tone incrementally more confident regarding potential further quality issues for X."

Interesting note by Pacific Crest after a recent factory visit. That doesn't particularly strike me as "flawless" Xs are being built like Musk said on the last conference call but I hope I'm wrong.

I confirmed mine in December (ordered in 2013). It arrived in Atlanta (Decatur SC) about June 1st. I saw my X today when I took my S in to get confirmed trade-in value and I could see quite a few little things they need to do.It has a lot of little things they are addressing. They say it will be another week, and I dont want it until all that little stuff is dealt with. I likely won't pick it up for 2 weeks since I will be traveling next week. I have had my model S for almost 4 years now (10/2012), so I am not overly impatient. Kind of surprised me how much stuff the SC has to do after the vehicle is delivered ... But, I realize that is all covered in many other threads so I won't dwell on that here.

Oh, and I am getting an estimate on garage door adjustments to make more room just to be safe since my measurements so it too close for my liking.

I had my wife and two kids with me. It's not the best way to do it if you want to thoroughly review your car but I know my DS well enough to know that any issues I find in the next few days will be taken care of.
The only body alignment issue that I've seen is on the right rear corner of the trunk lid. It doesn't line up with the right rear quarter panel like the left side does. The right side is too high by about 1/4" or so. All of my seals around my windows look good but I haven't gone over it inch by inch yet.

If you don't mind, how tall are your garage rails? My DS let me know my MX should be delivered the week of June 20, so I'm nesting and getting the house ready for the new addition, and your rails look about the same height as mine. It should be quite an experience, since my wife is due to deliver our second daughter around the same time. So we're doubly nesting, I guess.

So @ccutrer, indeed our DS continues to play it on the safe side.. I emailed him today about post above by @superfly320, asked him to see if Fremont could give us an update, considering the VIN and config that superfly320 has is so close to mine..

His reply was pretty much the same boiler plate... "Great question! Production timeframes have not changed, and we are still on track for production in Late late June. As discussed, Im trying to get you behind the wheel before you trip on July 14th, but delivery is dependent on factory production times."

just took delivery of 90D (36xx) yesterday. Production completed around mid May (took several weeks of train ride). Build plate says April 2016 manufacturing date, got lucky with active spoiler. Build quality is excellent, did not find any obvious issue (I did not look that closely either) and the car did not spend any QC time in service center either). I think model X is getting the ramp up nicely.

Guess mine has a lot more issues than yours. Zach is my DS as well. Mine was ordered December and finished about the same time. It was probably delivered with yours. Mine has at least another week in the shop. No big deal, but still confuses me (and makes me a tad nervous ) that soooo much stuff has to be done at the SC. Mine is Midnight silver with Ultra white interior and 20" Silver wheels. I've pretty much been calling Zach ever other day so I guess squeaky wheel gets the grease. . . . Hopefully it won't come back to bite me if there's a lot of issues. I'd had hope that with a May build that things had been straightened out by now. Wondering if I'll get active spoiler or not.

Bad experience on my Model X P90D (RED) delivery (yet to get it !):

    Booked with Deposit: 07/07/13 (P90D)
    Studio / Ordered : 12/26/15
Build complete email: 3/11/16 (VIN 28xx)
    Paid in full: 3/24/16
    Scheduled pick up: 4/8/16
    Email of delay: 4/7/16
Loaner from enterprise (Nissan altima): 5/12/16
Model S loaner: 5/26/16 (after complaining).

STILL NO DELIVERY AFTER 10 WEEKS OF KEEPING MY ENTIRE PAYMENT!

The DS is practically useless - never has information or is always saying 1-2 week away.
Last night he says "your car is scheduled for fixes tomorrow" - not sure I can even believe those emails anymore.

I don't think I have had this bad an experience with any purchases in my life!

Just curious why you had to pay in full before taking delivery?

I have rarely had him respond to email on first try, but he did respond quite quickly after I sent an email directly to Jon McNeill that got filtered back to him as the local DS.

Just emailed my DS and he replied that my vehicle has entered early production phase and it will take a few weeks for completion and we are shooting for last week of June delivery.

Does anyone know how long it is from start of production to delivery in Fremont?

I was informed delivery between 3/24-3/31 when I would be out of the country - so we scheduled for 4/8 delivery and I got the bank to wire the funds on 3/24 before I left on my trip. Came back on 4/4 ready to take delivery and the day before delivery DS sends an email saying sorry - have to fix more things on your vehicle :-(

I'm not quite sure how to secure financing as my MVPA is not actually up yet and my delivery is next week...

I have an "order agreement" from 2/28 but I have since changed my configuration and this is not reflected. Nothing else about how much I'm putting down or who I'm financing with....do I just wait until it appears on MyTesla? Seems odd considering I'm scheduled for delivery next week.

Ask your DS to generate an MVPA for you.

Sigh. DSs... I talked to my DS about financing and he said he would generate an MVPA for me so that I could apply next week. Nothing yet. I'll be contacting him again on Monday if it's still not there. He's doing an excellent job of not letting me get ahead of myself, I guess.

Of course, @ccutrer you and I and many others have to pay in full before our cars even leave Freemont because of the ridiculous dealership laws in UT, TX and other states.
  • Jun 10, 2016

If not, it should be in the FAQ to not pay until, at a minimum, the car is physically at the service center.

Thanks for the info. I figured that, but wasn't sure. Makes it easier to not feel bad if I get financing approved, and we get close to the 30 day mark without delivery, just paying anyway.

Update! Call this afternoon from DS in Seattle that my X is out of production and on it's way. Delivery could be as early as next Friday (the 17th). Of course I'm leaving town Tuesday and won't be back until the end of the following week.:(

In Utah at least, Tesla can't sell a new car directly to us. It has to be an out-of-state transaction and the car then trucked in. If we take delivery at the factory we have to pay CA tax (higher than UT) and we can't get that refunded.
The regular new car dealerships in UT have still been successful at lobbying the legislature to prevent changes to the law that would allow a manufacturer to sell direct to customers. They feel that if they allow it for Tesla, the other manufacturers will muscle in and undercut them. Personally I feel dealerships are a racket! I always feel like I have to take a large tube of KY when going into a regular dealership when to buy a car.. Far prefer the Tesla approach, the price is the price is the price, no ifs ands or buts!

The recent consession for Tesla is they now DO have a used car dealership license, even if they only stock used Teslas. Allows them to give test drives in a Tesla... Then if you want to order a new one, you can go to the configuration page on Teslamotors.com

Question for you, is the document actually titled "MVPA"?
  • Jun 10, 2016
    TacC
It may be titled "Order Agreement" on your MyTesla page. Once you pull it up, you should have a four page doc titled "Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement"
  • Jun 10, 2016
    ccutrer
Dunno, I don't have mine yet! But what I gather from others, yes, it will actually be titled either. MVPA or Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement in MyTesla. It definitely is not the Order Agreement that when you open says Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement at the top.

If you need to secure financing, ask your DS to email you a pro forma MVPA. It is two pages.

As soon as I posted this bad experience, (just a coincidence) - I got the call from DS for pick up tomorrow at 4 PM at Fremont factory show room! Finally one truth out of so much mis-information for 2 months.

I am going to ask for some compensation in kind for keeping my money for 10 weeks! Should I ask for some accessories and/or activation of self present doors? Any suggestions? Will they even entertain such a demand?

I picked up vin 53xx today. No issues except for a small piece of unaligned trim and one of the FWDs was sensing an obstacle that didn't exist, which has since resolved itself. Fantastic car and fantastic delivery experience. Even got a sunshade.

Also, give Brandon Hugh at Hugh's Detailing a call. When I went by his place (out near Tamiami airport) he had an X in his garage for a full Xpel body wrap - it was his 2nd X so far. Mine is scheduled for late next week - about a 4 to 6 day process.

I just picked up my X (90D, Midnight Silver, 22" Onyx Black wheels, Fixed spoiler, 7 seat, black leather premium pkg, subzero) yesterday. Everything looked great except for mild driver side FWD misalignment. Not a big deal, but I emailed my DS to see if anything can be done. Has anyone dealt with this problem before? If so, what's my next step? Thanks for your wisdom.

In fact, in my "My Tesla" pages, when I click on View Profile for my Model X, the documents at the bottom includes the one titled "Order Agreement". That document called "Order Agreement" IS in fact my Motor Vehicle Purchase Agreement. I believe they are in fact one and the same.. The images below are screen grabs of those sections of "My Tesla".. The first image is what I get when I click on "Order Agreement"

I just received a confusing email from my DS. He said he was looking at my car going into production in the next two weeks with delivery at the end of June.

Umm, I'm assuming he meant July delivery. I know production is ramping up and all but I don't see it being built and delivered in less than a week. Lol.

Good thing I ordered my wall charger the other day.

At this point, I'm thinking it depends on your state what your MVPA looks like. Most descriptions I've read describe a section on the second page with estimated delivery date and odometer reading. Some also describe 10s of pages of legaleze. But maybe in Utah we don't get that, cause we have to pay ahead of time?

I think it is a preliminary MVPA. The final MVPA will have your VIN and bank info if applicable. Received the following guidance from my DS:

"The final purchase agreement for Alliant will be generated once your Model X is in transport to the service center, approximately two weeks prior to delivery. I would advise you to re-apply once your Model X is in production."
  • Jun 11, 2016

Yeah except my car is being delivered next week and Alliant is requesting the MVPA...

Could indeed be state dependent. Isn't it sad, we are all reading tea leaves in the desperation to get our long awaited cars!

I just stopped by the local tesla showroom near Boston. They had a model x on display and said they got it in about this past Tuesday. The VIN number was 6844. You all can calculate on your own, but assuming only 5 days in production and the bear minimum of 10 days transport than it could have been made the latest on May 23. Not sure if they're doing VINs out of order but it's interesting to see such a high number. It was a 7 seat pearl white, $134,000 was the cost of it but didn't see if it was a 90 or a P90. Also outside they had another new one with VIN 8207!
