andyrebele Reservation # 9353
Reservation date: June 6, 2012
Type: 85 kWh, non-Performance
Delivered (Bellevue, WA): March 24, 2013
I would definitely call Tesla if you wonder about your delivery date. When I called in early March, I was told that my number had already come up and that I had only 3 days to finalize my order, because according to them I had never responded. The issue is that Tesla had never emailed me! No, it's not a "junk mail folder" issue, as I log 100% of my emails, and established a special email address only for Tesla. It received no emails from Tesla about my number coming up. Neither did I receive any phone call. If I had not called to find out what was going on with my car, I would have lost my reservation (according to what they told me), and the original delivery date they had told me was June 2013. Thus I would have lost my reservation, with absolutely no notice, prior to my originally scheduled due date.
By the way, I am thrilled with the car.
Mar 27, 2013
jkirkebo More or less finished. People have been reporting picking up their car (factory delivery) a couple of days after the VIN showed up in the app for the first time.
Mar 27, 2013
rlpm Mine showed up in the app today, around 7pm PDT. Earlier today, the DS in Denver said it'll be on a truck by Sunday, and to expect direct delivery next week. Excitement abounds!
Depending on whether they've already done the burn-in, applied the paint armor, etc., maybe it'll even be on a truck tomorrow? Wishful thinking perhaps? Or perhops the Easter Bunny has a nice silver egg for me?
Mar 27, 2013
Doug Martoccia Good idea. Needless calls checking status just tie up Tesla from handling more serious issues. If you need to call, wait until the day after the end of the delivery range. In the auto business, do squeaky wheels get squeaky wheels?
- - - Updated - - -
Wow. If you had been tracking status on this forum, you could have known that all of the finalize notices went out for similar reservation numbers in December/January. If you had finalized immediately, your car would have been delivered as early as January. This forum does actually provide some useful information!
Mar 28, 2013
Nicu.Mihalache Could you please confirm that 8892 is not a typo? Thanks.
I would also like to ask other participants to include the last four digits of the VIN when posting all the info about the car? It's the most important clue about the production rate. Thank you very much.
Mar 28, 2013
andyrebele You're right, that would have solved the problem (though I wish it were not necessary to study delivery date forums and/or make a speculative phone call in order to avoid cancellation of a valid order).
BTW I forgot to list my VIN. It is P06912.
Mar 28, 2013
Kenne74 Not a type shows P08892 in the top left corner of my app. My delivery range is 3/28-4/11, so I'm hoping my app is correct and I get my car early......
Mar 28, 2013
Nicu.Mihalache Thanks. Great news for everyone. Hope you get your car soon.

ModelS1079 First drive?
First tunes?
Last gas?
Mar 28, 2013
rlpm First drive will depend on when it gets here. Perhaps I'll go to lunch at Tomasita's in Santa Fe, about 120 miles round-trip.
First tunes: tough call. Steppenwolf's Magic Carpet Ride or Led Zeppelin's Kashmir or Over the Hills & Far Away.
I haven't pumped gas since I sold my 335i coupe back to the BMW dealership back in February. Since then, my wife rolls her eyes, but fills up the Odyssey, even if I'm driving. No more gas for me!
And for Nicu, my VIN is mid-8800's, three dozen or so less than Kenne74. So they don't hit the app sequentially, probably due to production & burn-in variations (if VINs show up after burn-in, which I don't think we know). I don't think they'll have any problem fully filling out to 8900 or even 9000 by end of quarter.

rickbrown888 My tesla arrived Tuesday. Couldn't be happier. My dog loves the gift they included with the car.

wstuff Very cute, but you have two dogs and only one steering wheel protector, envy afoot!
Mar 28, 2013
rickbrown888 haha. very true. Luckily we are pre ordering a Model X shortly. I'm sure if I asked, Tesla would send me a 2nd steering wheel protector.

DLM270 @jpasqua
Congrats on the new Tesla!
Did you happen to see any REDs while you were on the Factory Tour?
Mar 30, 2013
jpasqua Thank you. I'm excited.
I looked everywhere I could for a sign of red. The only thing I saw was a collection of pictures of a red MS taken from different angles. They were posted together on a wall that we passed while on the tram. I couldn't sneak off to get a better look.

DLM270 Thanks for the report. I guessed that the RED had not been viewed by the tour participants since there had not been any reported sightings, but I appreciate your confirmation. Enjoy your new MS.....I'm expecting mine in the next two or three weeks.
@xhawk101 I too have my VIN but no delivery button. I expect they will be enabled next week. I was told that my car was not yet in Final Assembly, and I am not sure what triggers the delivery button.

Kenne74 It is a bit confusing because I always thought you would get your paperwork/vin via email vs. seeing it in the app first. This would allow the person purchasing the car to ensure they have everything lined up before the purchase.
I will probably need to call them tomorrow (against my better judgement) to finalize the delivery date, the range i have is too wide and I travel a lot for work.
VIN 8892 showed up in the app on 3/18
Delivery Dates 3/29 - 4/11
No Delivery button, DS or MVPA assigned yet
Mar 31, 2013
rlpm How did you get a two-week delivery window without completing the (online) delivery questionnaire, which I thought was accessed via the delivery button?
Apr 1, 2013
Kenne74 It appears I confused the delivery notice as the pre-mvpa...and it was sent out the next day.
I actually had to call them to follow up on my delivery address change. It appears they did not change it the first time I called. Hopefully that is all settled. He first said my car wasn't ready and then changed it that it should be shipped out this week. I really don't care when I get it I just want an exact date so I can arrange my work schedule to accommodate the pick up.

jive_devil An update/change (for Doug and others following along). I was reviewing my paperwork this morning following the 40/60 announcement of last night and realized that when I added in my rear seats, that active air was erroneously also added to my configuration. (Reminder: review your pre-MVPA when you're not distracted at work, I should have caught this). Because they added the active air (and not just the jumpseats), I think it also reset my submission to the factory to 3/4. Let me be the first to say I'm highly annoyed at myself right now. However, I've talked to several reps and no one else caught it either (they must have been reading off notes on the screen versus actually looking at my configuration). Now just to pray the active air is as reliable as the standard . . .

jomo25 My choice of brown (which my wife and I agonized over) seems to be causing my order to be bypassed in queue. Nothing else about my config is keeping other orders from getting done at this point. But haven't seen anybody with brown get a car in any config. I knew it was the least popular color, part of the appeal to my wife and me.
But at this point, I'm half-expecting an announcement and email from Tesla saying 'due to the low take rate on Brown, we're discontinuing the color and will replace it with white and provide the buyer with brown-shaded sunglasses for all existing orders.'

CaptDaveHowe George, my gratitude to all at Tesla for working with me on my delivery (by holding off) as we rebuild our home from damages of Hurricane Sandy. I took delivery this past Saturday, which was my choice (couldn't wait any longer). Tesla had always told me to wait until I'm ready and assured me that I would not loose my place. The car is more than expected, however what makes the experience a positive one are the people from Tesla who stood by us. Thanks!

Apr 4, 2013
jive_devil Thanks, Jomo and Apoc.
I thought about going to Costa Mesa, but for now, opted for home delivery. Apoc, our delivery windows don't overlap, but I wonder if our cars will come down on the same truck. We might learn a little about their delivery logistics by comparing notes. Great that you got your VIN already.

ITSELE Accuracy of estimated delivery day.
I need a little help. I'm within 2 weeks of my delivery. My Delivery Window is 4/19 - 5/3. My Multi-coat Red 60 kWh should be coming off the production line soon. My iPhone app went live yesterday (although turned off on the car so GPS doesn't workI'm finishing my paperwork, etc and my delivery specialist gave me a delivery date of 4/26 yesterday. I'm in Arizona so home delivery is the only option. My question is in your experience, how solid is this estimated delivery date a week and a half out.
