Latest "Finalize your order" date part 13

Ha it's gotta be batched. I was wondering why standard 85s higher than us who finalized after us were getting delivery buttons while we weren't. Looks like that latest batch was for P85s on the east coast.

I actually live in DC proper - delivery to my house would have meant blocking one of the city's already narrow, car-lined streets with a delivery truck. I thought about having them deliver somewhere else (perhaps my office in VA) but decided it would be just as easy to pick it up from the store. One added bonus to that approach - if there are any minor issues with the car when they're ready to deliver, I can have them take care of it right away...

1 - they said it might be ready a few days earlier if you pick up at DC store rather than take delivery at home.

2 - i'm self-concious about a truck rolling down my residential street, backing a $100k sports car down my driveway.

3 - i know it'll be inspected, detailed, charged up.

    4 - i get a nice long first drive home. :)

Finalized on the 10th. Definitely a surprise to see the button and even more so the delivery window if feb 9-23. Honestly was thinking mid-late march.

A number of things might contribute for out-of-order production. The supplier for the dual charger may be running behind on just-in-time delivery, VINs get out-of-order on the production line, etc. In the past, when ordering from BMW, I would get an eight-week window for production, ship and transport. (And much less visibility) In a more-perfect world, we would get real time updates as our cars rolled through each stage of the assembly process along with a webcam. That would be really awesome.

what's your delivery window, if you don't mind me asking? also, are you picking it up at the end of the window because of your schedule? or is it because that's what's available?

I'm only asking because I'm still waiting for my VIN and I have a window of 2/2 - 2/16. unfortunately, my wife wants to go out of town from 2/14 - 2/17. Yikes. what timing. was hoping to pick it up before 2/14....

I held off on that as long as possible until 1/9 even though I was eligible 12/13. I figured the longer I delayed it the more kinks they would work out. If I get it by next weekend the only way I have to charge it is to use my NEMA 14-30 dryer outlet or a 115v outlet until I get my main panel upgraded. I figure I'll upgrade so I can use PG&E's E-9B rate which requires two meters. As it is, I will need to make a small extension cord to use my dryer outlet since there's not much clearance at the outlet (requires a right-angle plug). Fortunately the local hardware store has everything available if needed. I still don't have a VIN.

I created a simple scatterplot of forecasted delivery dates for 85's and 60's. If the trend holds this course, deliveries of the 60's should catch up. Of course, the rollout of the multi-coat reds will throw this off track.

    Feb 16 - March 2 delivery window (2013)

    9960. 60 battery. Air Sus.

I live in WA and have been given a delivery window of Feb 16-March 2. I see posts and a lot of people seem to have that same window. Wondering if Tesla can really get that many cars out that quick.

Any thoughts? People who have their cars, did you get your car in the window?

Update on VIN #4270: My PS e-mailed me Thursday evening to say my car was on its way, and we talked earlier today (me at airport, about to fly home) for him to triple-check some info. I got the final MVPA and signed it, and Tesla countersigned it around 11 PM my time (8 PM west coast)--working late, I see! ;-) The mileage says it'll be 50, but we know that's probably highballed.

The final MVPA says delivery will be on/about Feb. 8th. Since it's already on the way across the country, that seems likely--maybe even sooner? Well, I'm picking up at Rockville (had hoped for home delivery, so we'll see--still possible, though that might delay things due to scheduling).

    SO EXCITED!

Accuracy of delivery estimates at time of finalization

Curious over these dates. Now that all builds are being done or are to start in a month, finalization delivery windows feb/march for reservations up over 14500. Unless there have been large number of cancellations or deferrals they are either setting unrealistic time frames or are making over 600 cars a week. Any ideas. Haven't heard of many cancellation posted here. Is it possible they have gone over 600 cars a week

FYI, my office is just down the street from Tesla Seattle, and I shot a quick photo of the Truck o' Teslas parked just behind the store today. It's not a great photo, but I thought people would be excited about it anyway. Two whites, two blacks, one brown (that's the one on the bottom), one blue, and one mysteriously wrapped. Later in the day, I saw them all in the service center being prepped. Big week for Seattle!

I might be shooting photos until mine arrives. :)

Thanks for the idea, I tried logging in again just now and was able to get mine too -- 4816! (It's there in the app, but not in MyTesla.) My delivery window in Feb 2 - 16, but I will be on vacation, so have previously requested factory pick-up on the 23rd (not yet confirmed).

    - - - Updated - - -

I called up Tesla to try to get the full VIN. I was immediately requested not to use the mobile app until I get my car. They say apparently it's caused some unforeseen problems as cars are being produced. While I'm locked out of the app functionality itself since the access is disabled in the car by default, it's still probably contacting the car's computer. If I had to guess this could be causing problems with upgrading the firmware or testing the remote connection. Anyhow, I figured I'd pass this warning along.

Just got off the phone with someone from Tesla. He told me that my car is in "burn in testing" about 1/2 through production and should be ready in a few days. He said the only thing currently on the due bill is my parcel shelf, which they should have in stock for by end-of-Feb. Unfortunately, I can't pick my car up for a couple weeks...it's going to be a long wait!

Just got off the phone with my delivery specialist. My car is scheduled for delivery at my home (25 miles north of Fremont) on Sunday morning, 2/10. My window was 1/22 to today 2/5. So it will be 5 days late. I had been told the car was finished last week.
I have a standard 85, pretty much loaded.

I have a VIN from my PS, but never saw it in MyTesla. Where would it show up there? Only my res. #, seq. #, "your car's being made" or whatevs, and View Design are present. (The red delivery button, which was redundant since I'd used it eons ago and it just showed up again one day, finally went away.)

Interesting, but I'm not sure I buy this. Well, okay, my car--supposedly on its way to MD--isn't "being produced" so it's probably not affected negatively. But I'm mostly ignore the app now anyway, since it doesn't do anything without remote access enabled anyway. ;-) Thanks for passing this along, either way!

I have been following Tesla since 2006 and have been anxiously waiting for mine. Here is my timeline:

2012.04.22 - Reservation made (coincidentally it was Earth day)

    2013.01.18 - Delivery timeframe received for Feb 21 - Mar 7
    2013.02.04 - VIN issued
    2013.02.05 - Purchase Agreement received
    2013.02.06 - Confirmation of delivery for Feb 15th @ 12:00 PM!

Will do. I had asked for home delivery, though Andy said he'd try. Jamee said nothing about it on the phone, but one of her first Qs was whether I could come to pick it up in Rockville, and I'm betting from other comments around here that "no" would've delayed things. Plus I'm starting to get nervous about home delivery anyway, although originally the whole home-delivery-white-glove thing was exciting to me. ;-) So I think I'm happy with the pick-up instead. /ramble

With the exception of the large pepperoni with mushrooms and extra cheese. The forums seem to be buzzing with some intel about the Columbus SS being open within 2 weeks. So, maybe I'll pick up there unless the car comes way early which I doubt. DO you own the Monical's in Woodruff WI?We eat there a lot when at our "secret hideaway" in the Northwoods.

My friend Jackie Cook owns that Monical's franchisee location. It's actually in Arbor Vitae. It is really a very cool and unique location. I'm the franchisor in Indiana and also own a few in Illinois.

@kendallpb: I am York, PA so I could drive down 2 hours and pick it up but hoping for a smooth delivery. Did you get the paint armor? I did and that delays 72 hours for it to be put on at the Rockville, MD service center after the car arrives.

    You called EACH day?

    :)

Man, you must have been driving those people nuts... :)

I have not talked to a single person including making my reservation and finalizing.

The car will be ready when its ready.

I don't think calling every day will change a thing.

I wonder if the activity heating up in the Columbus service center is why I haven't heard anything about my potential delivery. Delivery window ends tomorrow, P85, P7304 and still no VIN despite calls and emails. Fingers crossed...I think I'll drive by the location to see if there are any cars in the lot...

OK, morning, noon and night after the window. Daily before that. Ha. It does change things I think because they don't talk amongst themselves so things tend to sit in purgatory until someone goes to find it. If you're not financing or relying on anything from them then yes, it does not matter. Otherwise, gentle prodding makes them look up your stuff so you can get going on it in a timely manner. If they don't look, they don't tell you what you need to know until it's "oh look. This car has been sitting ready. Who's is it?"

    Are you sure it helped?

Not wanting to go OT but trust me, service reps talk amongst each other and they know EXACTLY who the () is that constantly calls demanding answers.

    :)

I did and I haven't been told of any delay. In some thread, someone mentioned that they'd worked out the kinks and were doing it at the factory again (shrug) but all I know is, no one's said anything to me about it not being there or about a delay. I'm crossing my fingers. I even e-mailed my DS earlier today to ask about what I read here--that they would redo the hood with a fuller treatment, at the SC, for a little extra. No response yet. Maybe that means the paint armor's not even on ;-) or maybe they're looking into it. I'll report back in . . . 41 hours??? OMG I'm glad I took tomorrow off. ;-)

our car, VIN 4605, showed up on a truck today to the local service center. there was no prior warning. i'm damn glad I sold the highlander and got out from under the sinking Leaf loan by converting to a Lease, all in the last 7 days, just in the nick of time. Bank of America was great to deal with, they got the approval and paperwork all hammered out in a few hours. Fast enough to get me a check coming for the Saturday delivery!

Since my explanation was likely moved to the snippiness folder due to another poster, I'll summarize. No I didn't really call that much. Yes, I believe calling helped since I've noticed the right hand doesn't talk to the left hand. When you see others with similar specs as yours and in proximity of your res #, place a polite call. I bet you money they'll see it's been sitting there a while. For those of us that needed a VIN for financing, the sooner you get it the better. I was scheduled to leave the country for several weeks so I needed to make sure I didn't fall through the cracks(wife would take delivery and we're minus a car early so yes, I didn't want any delays)

I agree that if you need the VIN for other purposes, like financing or insurance or the like, then yes, placing calls is probably in your best interest to not add additional delay to the process.

However, it appears there are many on this forum that somehow think that if they call incessantly, that their MS somehow magically jumps up the queue on the assembly line. 'Hey, this person just called. Can you guys stop the line, and push his car a spot further up in the queue? Thanks!'. That line, sayeth no one. And nobody has said this line either: 'Well, this person hasn't called about their car, so can you guys drive it to the back corner of the lot? Obviously they doesn't care about the car, so we're just gonna park it out of sight, out of mind.'

Anyway, you should have your car soon, and hopefully the timing works out well for you with your trip.

Wow, Toto. You have some amazing resources of patience. I've normally been pretty good on the wait (not 100%, but normally). I've tried to keep the people like you in mind, who had already been waiting for years before I even heard of the car, whenever I felt myself getting impatient.

LOL, congrats! Hey, they actually told you your due bill already? Interesting. My VIN's 4270 and they didn't say anything to me, but I'll find out tomorrow.

I second this. Awesome community here and while it feeds my obsession, it also saves my sanity. ;-)

I'm waiting on a 60 and was told this afternoon that my VIN is 5044 and that my DS will be calling me early next week to schedule a delivery. My window was 2/16 to 3/2, so this suggests I may get it delivered a bit early.

Only because I asked. Since it was coming to the house wanted to know in advance what was *supossed* to be missing. Also told me they expected to have the parcel shelf to me by end of Feb... Enjoy your day!

Thanks! Two hours and counting. Garage is only 1/2 to 2/3 empty (just put another carload into the SUV for Goodwill), GAH--not sure what this means for my charging, maybe hoping the cable isn't so thick I can't close the garage door on it. ;-)

    VIN I didn't know I had

I have been given a delivery window of 2/16 to 3/2 for home delivery. I have just been assuming there's no way I'd actually have it then and in my mind have just been adding a month, so 3/16 to 4/2.

Today I decided to download the Tesla Ap for iPhone so I could play with it. Disappointingly you can't do anything with it, not even explore until you turn on Remote Access in the car, which is impossible to do when you don't have the car. But the exciting news is that at the top it has VIN P04923. I've never been told I have a VIN so it was exciting to see it there. I assume that really is the VIN because I had to login to My Tesla before it popped up.

so there's a little delivery / VIN news from the apple country of Washington State.
