Sigma4Life I think our cars are on the same truck because I was told the exact same thing. Fortunately I got a call from the truck driver saying he'd deliver the car early afternoon on 1/9 (instead of 1/10). I assume that means you got a call saying he'll deliver your car in the morning since it's a couple hour drive from San Antonio to Houston.

aaron.s Update today from my DS:
"It looks like your car is just before the final inspections, just getting a few minor adjustments like have the front fender secured and that all the doors close without any gaps. Theyre doing this before they put the car through the final testing and inspections which usually take a few days."
Hoping she gets loaded up and on her way to NY this weekend!

JakeP Received a call from my driver a few hours ago, he had two flats from hitting a curb in Philly, then one more car to deliver nearby before bringing mine to Pittsburgh. A late night delivery? Or possibly first thing in the morning? Starting to get excited again...
Jan 9, 2013
Hank42 Don't let yourself get excited again. It's all a clever ploy to mess with us! Mine's supposed to be here 3 hours ago. Took off from work _AGAIN_ for no reason. I will believe it when I see it.

logan Congrats to all those who recently got their cars!
My car is still in transit. It arrived to Arizona yesterday (the 8th) at 8am and apparently it's just going to be sitting there until the 11th to be loaded on another truck to get delivered to the mid-west. Because Tesla originally shipped it to the wrong address they told me it would be placed on its own truck to get it to me before I went out of town. I called UPS Autogistics myself and was told that they never heard anything about that from Tesla and that it was still scheduled for a delivery of the 14th (I leave the 12th).
The car would have been here days ago if Tesla had actually shipped it to the proper address. They still wont take responsibility for this. Never had a worse car delivery experience before. One time I bought a Mercedes and the dealer drove my other car home for me (300 miles away), and had another person follow that car so they could both drive back to the dealership. That was no questions asked.
I'm the person who when I get a wrong order at a restaurant I just eat my meal anyways (I hate complaining), but I don't think it's unreasonable to hope for a bit better service.

Cattledog Logan - Hang in there. You are at the high end of poor delivery experiences. Mine was not amazing - delayed, then difficult communications, then delivered when I was out of town. I was disappointed because I have been a real cheerleader, and so some friends who are in the know about the car are more skeptical because of the delivery service. Share your opinion with Tesla so they can try to correct, that's part of what we can offer. Good luck.

JakeP Just took delivery across the border in Pittsburgh...so happy she finally arrived, Sequoia Green is absolutely gorgeous in the sunlight. Will post pics after I get her cleaned up in the Delivery Update thread...she's a little dusty from her layover in NJ. Standard due bill items of Parcel Shelf and Rear Seats, plus I didn't get a footwell cover, frunk net, floor mats of any kind, rear license plate frame or NEMA 6-50 adapter.
The pain of the final few weeks of delivery is already fading into memory, displaced with the joy of Tesla ownership...been sporting the grin and I haven't even taken her out of the neighborhood yet!

Thank you!
Just an update. EdA so kindly PM'd me the email of a gentleman at Tesla that I should try contacting and so I emailed him explaining the situation. I wasn't demanding anything, just kindly asking him to see if anything could be done, and if not, then no worries. He said he would do everything he could. Today I got a call from someone else at Tesla and he told me he has a truck heading east from LA and a driver that will meet the truck in Phoenix and that I should be receiving my car tomorrow night around 8-9PM, but he will call me tomorrow morning with a final ETA time. I wasn't really expecting anything to do done at this point and I figured it was a shot in the dark, but Tesla seems to be coming through so far!

jhs_7645 Fantastic. It's nice to see a quick turnaround. As of Friday at 6pm my car was still waiting at the factory .. grr.. it's soooo close.. The Product Specialist I've been dealing with has been wonderful though, always replying to my pestering emails/phone calls. The last time we talked she said if it stays there much longer she'll grab a truck and drive it up to Washington herself (kidding of course, but I appreciate the sentiment). Jcmason @Retinadoc My car and Aaron's are most likely traveling companions heading across the country (sequential numbers and VINs, both just waiting for a truck). I asked if mine could be delivered to the White Plains service center, and was told that it's not yet open, likely opening in Feb, so either Queens or home delivery were my choices. I went for home delivery, as they said it wouldn't be on a big 18-wheeler, but would go to the Queens service center first to be prepped, then sent with a DS to my house in Larchmont, NY. Where are you and when do you expect to get your delivery?
Jan 13, 2013
jiaotong What a pisser. Car is in LA. I'm in Vegas. Got a call on Wed to set up home delivery on Sat Afternoon. Sat afternoon came and went. No call, no Show. Called Tesla and they said the notes said "Customer requested Sunday 1/13" OK. Not true, but mix ups happen. Today has come and gone and another No call, No Show.I don't mind the waiting but I am annoyed at moving schedules around for something that isn't going to happen. Tesla has had my 100K+ for 10 days and I don't have title or a car. Not very impressed. Dealership suck, and suck real bad; but the sort of delivery problems Tesla is having would not likely happen at a dealership. I don't see how it can get better, especially if they are selling more and more cars. : (

Jan 13, 2013
Darmok That stinks @jiaotong. I decided to do a factory pickup and drive the thing back to Las Vegas, partly to see the factory and have a little SF vacation at the same time, but also because of the delivery delays and frustrations. Hopefully yours comes soon.

aaron.s retinadoc
As jcmason said, the White Plains service center is not quite open yet, even though I was told at the White Plains store it would be on January 1st.
It's actually not a problem, since I will be picking up the car in Queens and am supposed to drive it directly to a friends auto body shop in Brooklyn to have the front end (and full hood) wrapped (paint armor). I'm also going to have a Torklift Central Eco Hitch installed for my new Saris Freedom (hitch) bike rack - since my existing Saris rack (trunk mounted) won't fit the Model S.
It's supposed to take a day and a half to have these 2 things done! It's going to be hard to leave the car for another 1.5 days right after picking it up! I want to drive! But I know it's best to get it wrapped right away before anything happens to the front end....

The Saris Freedom Bike rack I bought is compatible with both 1.25" and 2" hitches - I bought the 1.25" Eco Hitch. Saris page: http://www.saris.com/en/bike-racks/vehicle-racks/hitch-racks/freedom.html
It holds 2 bikes quite nicely!

Jan 15, 2013
K Hall The US accounts for only 25% of the luxury car market. The rest of the world will sell out production for 2013, 2014 and 2015, just with early adopters.

Jan 15, 2013

Jan 15, 2013
gregincal Yes, but you did switch configs. They say that cars get built in the order that the configs get sent to the factory, and your config got sent to the factory on 12/17 along with people in the #11000 range. Of course BleedsOn says they didn't sign the MVPA until a week or so later, so who knows.

PattyChuck I'm thrilled that it seems the 60kW orders are getting pushed back to their rightful place in line, but I'm very much less-than-thrilled when people in the 10,000's are already scheduling their deliveries. I feel the whole "batching" excuse is complete and utter nonsense. I can understand batching being off by a few hundred, maybe even a thousand, but to convince me that someone in the 10,000's has a config unique enough to justify the production of that car makes my skepticism siren wail.
Jan 16, 2013
loganss Yup I've been reading the same suggestions here. I've been calling that number every Monday. I'm probably going to start calling twice per week after hearing being proactive is better.
I only have a 30 day lock for the financing I'm looking to get so it'd be nice to have more than a 2 month window.
Jan 16, 2013
MikeC I can confirm that calling the number works. I'm P10267, received finalize email 12/3, and pre-MVPA was countersigned 12/28. I've been checking for my delivery button every day and nothing. Just called the number and received a window 1/26-2/9 and the delivery button was manually activated. No VIN yet. Config is 85kwh and air suspension.
Jan 16, 2013
mnx Did you have a February - March window initially? I was going to try avoiding calling as long as possible, but it seems several people on here who finalized after me are getting delivery dates...
Jan 16, 2013
kinddog i have learned that delivery windows mean nothing. they probably gave you that just to appease you.
getting the VIN # is what is important. that's when you can be sure your car is actually being made, and that you are weeks away from getting it.
i have no VIN.

Jan 16, 2013
PattyChuck ^ This.
Jan 16, 2013
gregincal Of course the frustrating thing is that lack of a VIN number doesn't mean your car isn't being made. Some people seem to only get their VIN number just as the car is finished.
Jan 16, 2013
MikeC Yeah, pre-MVPA says Feb-March but that is based off the timing of the finalize your order email - others who got their email in October but just finalized in January got a "Nov-Dec" window.
I recommend calling. It only took a few minutes, and it sounded like my window had already been opened, it just wasn't communicated to me until I got proactive.
Jan 16, 2013
Lloyd There have been jumps in sequence also due to some not being able to provide financing or other issues which did not allow them to take delivery of the car.

Jan 17, 2013
loganss When the delivery button works the way it should it will send you to a delivery questionaire page. On that page it will confirm your address, whether you want Solar City contacting you for an outlet install, financing, front plate installed, and the location you want your car dropped off (i.e. service center, home, other location)
It seems this button can only be activated when you have a more specific delivery window. Seems like this should just be a setup that resides on your MyTesla page. Some members expressed having problems with a delivery button to nowhere but what I described is its true function
Just an FYI to others, Tesla logs in their system every time you call the number on the pre-MVPA. When I called my local store the lady looked up my account and mentioned I talked to some lady about my car recently. Tesla has been nothing but pleasant over the phone though. Feel bad for some of their employees since they are in the dark about a bunch.

kinddog That, my friend, is the million dollar question. It has happened hundreds of times, and no one knows why they choose to OVER-promise, and UNDER-deliver. (should be the other way around)

aaron.s All -
Was working in the neighborhood, so I decided to pay a visit to the Queens, NY Service Center since my Model S will be arriving there some time next week. Wanted to ask them a few questions about delivery. There were no less than 12 Model S's there being prepped for delivery -- an amazing sight!
Here are some photos...

spatterso911 What really stands out is how unpopular the front license plate holder is!
Jan 17, 2013
Iz In NY a front plate is required. However, I opted not to have it installed and will use a retractable front plate mount.

aaron.s It's possible they hadn't been installed yet too!
I will be having one put on...

MikeC My delivery button just came back after initially disappearing when I did the delivery questionnaire yesterday morning. I know it's a glitch, but I wonder if it signifies anything? Like maybe my car going into production or something, I hope.

Borgie P#12,524. Read on this thread that calling the number on "Your Model S Order is Complete" email works. I've been checking the status of my car obsessively for the past month. So....I just called, and was very pleasantly told that my car was expected to be completed between 2/7/13 and 2/21/13, and probably toward the beginning of that time frame. And, my red DELIVERY button was immediately activated! Also was advised that the parcel shelf would be delayed (probably until the end of February) and that the backorders on the HPWC would likely be cleared up by the end of the 1st quarter. Whoopee!!!
P#12,524. Finalized paperwork on 12/27/12. Performance, 85kwh, Grey, tan interior, 21" grey wheels, air suspension, pano roof, tech package, sound package.
Jan 18, 2013
Kaivball Doesn't the air suspension come standard on the P85?
Jan 18, 2013
Borgie Yeah, just put it in for the sake of completeness.

highedu Just called in and spoke to my inside delivery specialist. He activated my delivery button which i filled out and got a delivery window of 2/2 - 2/16. I'm reservation #12,848 and finalized my order just last week, looks like they are cranking away!
Jan 18, 2013
Thumper At this point, it is all about the VINs. Skip the reservation sequence number. The VINs tell us production and delivery rate.

tdiggity It's odd that the Delivery button is activated when you call in. I guess it's a manual process and calling and getting your DS to see the estimated delivery date allows them to just activate the button now as opposed to later when they have free time?
Jan 18, 2013
Borgie Agreed! I'd been waiting for my delivery button (patiently? perhaps not) and then called. It was activated immediately and I got my delivery window (2/7-2/21). Kinda funny that I had to call, but I have to say the guy on the phone was delightful. When I called I said I was just checking on the status of my car and he said "Sorry, I can't tell you anything about that" Then it became clear he was just kidding, and told me exactly where I stood in production. I have to say, my experience thus far is nothing but great!
