    Sorry for OT...

I'm trying to find a centercap for a third party wheel, TSW Nurburgring 20 inch gunmetal mirror face. I contacted below website as I heard the quality is good on TMC.
3D Domed Gel Custom made to fit TESLA T Wheel Center, Resin Badges Over-Stickers Decals Set of 4, Misc 3D Domed Gel, Tesla-3D-Domed-Gel-wheelcenter
However they replied that they need me to specify the file and I don't have one! Also they mentioned they won't do trademark logos...

What was your solution, when you made centercaps for third party wheels?
  • Jul 2, 2016
    hiroshiy
Exactly the same shop produced and shipped my gel dome badges. Maybe they got scared of trademark infringements since then... (#Brexit?)

Hi, @PaulusdB, would you mind PM me the file you used, if you give them a Tesla logo file?

I think Tesla could sell these centercaps at cost.
    # and I'm embarrassed that my autocorrection keep changing centercaps to centerfold...
  • Jul 2, 2016
    hiroshiy
    Sorry, H.
I never supplied them with a design or file. I just ordered two sets (different colours and sizes) on their site.
That was before their policy changed, I guess. Possibly you can arrange something with them over the phone. (Still 30 minutes before EOB at this moment. ;) )
Regarding Tesla supplying the stickers, I'd say that they shouldn't bother. Why support after market stuff, to begin with? And to elaborate some more on your remark; the Brits sell decals/stickers to be placed on the centercaps of your after market wheels, not the complete caps.

The tires were 245/35/22 and 295/30/22 We did experience a fair amount of rubbing which is why we later changed to 21" wheels

The car is not lowered. However, we do have a Sports Dynamic Air Suspension Upgrade Kit which lowers the car with a set of brackets instead of lowering links. The kit we offer drops the car to a pre set ride height which eliminates the need to adjust the height at every wheel like with lowering links and eliminates the chance of user error. The in cabin controls retain their normal functions and the suspension is lowered by about 2 inches at every setting

I ordered a MS with 21s and summer tires. I'm going to need winter tires as I live in NJ. We also get potholes in the winter that are repaired in the spring.

I would like to order 19s with winter tires to give me extra rim protection.

Would stock 19s fit on my car? I assume The car uses the same rotors and breaks so it would work. Is that true, or do they come in different sizes depending on wheel size?

Looks amazing. Which widths are you running front and back? Any rubbing issues? It looks like it, but just confirming, the rears are perfectly flush with the quarter panel well? A wheel sticking out even a centimeter past the well is a pet peeve of mine.

Looks great, I plan to put the same setup on my Deep Blue Metallic at the end of the month upon delivery.

Out of curiosity, what led you to go with the silver instead of the other colors? I'm leaning most towards the grey right now, because I haven't seen the 20" glossy black or matte black on any deep blue metallic cars yet.
  • Aug 17, 2016
    ColBatGuano
    image.jpeg
Dark wheels look smaller than they actually are; that is caused by perspective. There is much less contrast between a dark wheel and a dark car. I do like most wheel colors, but to me dark wheels look best on a car that the wheels are too big for; it helps to mask their disproportion. 21 inch wheels are about ideal visually for the Model S but the tire options are severely limited. It comes down to a personal preference, I guess. I would like to see a set of gold 20 inch wheels on a blue car. I've never really cared for gold wheels but something tells me they would look pretty good.

I'm sure you will be pleased with the wheels. The ride and acceleration are unnoticeable if changed. The Continental DWS tires I bought have loads more grip than the Goodyears that came on the car. They are slightly noisier on certain coarse road surfaces but I am very pleased with this small compromise.
  • Aug 17, 2016
    Woody17
Your car looks fantastic, and your reasoning is the same as mine for going with the 20" wheels. My personal preference is a darker wheel, so I'm hoping to see a Dark Blue Metallic paint scheme with the other three colors TST offers in the 20" wheel.

The pic of the white MS just sold me on those Tsportline wheels... Are those 19's or 20's?

That is a good looking car you have. i haven't been to Melbourne in a couple years now but I'll keep an eye out for you the next time I'm there. :D (That's green with envy because I'd love to live around Ballarat)

Thanks @ColBatGuano! As do you! Love the blue. Only wish we could go with out the front plate like you guys. It's a bit cooler here at the moment compared to Texas I'd imagine, especially compared to Ballarat! Next time you're in town make sure you say g'day. ;)

Which tores on your TST 20' are guaranteed not to rub during full turn situations? I read somewhere that one of the sizes caused rubbing when turning either full left or right. Don't recall if it was with or without smart suspension.

@Jaro73 not all tires of the same size across different manufacturers are identical. Sidewalls of certain models are more round, while others are more square.

We did read some TMC members using a 255/40-19" on their 19" TST causing a slight rub.

We have not heard of our recommended TST 20" size(s) 245/40-20" front & 275/40-20" rear rubbing.

After a very long and painful process that needed 3 returns, I finally have my new wheels installed.
