3s-a-charm That must be a huge relief!

gpetti Certainly one less thing to obsess aboutNow to start wondering which seats I'll get! Either way I'm very excited to be getting the car soon. Starting to sort out insurance, registration and a wrap appointment... again.

Jaff Now is it the heated steering wheel you're, or the next gen "heating / cooling" one?
:biggrin::biggrin::wink:...just kiddin, just kiddin...Congrats!
Jan 16, 2015
OConnorStP I'm hoping I have a heated steering wheel on my Minneapolis-bound P85D. But here's a picture of my backup plan. I'll be curious to see if the little white jobbies (which work on an iPad) will also work on the Tesla screen.

gpetti LOL, still have my sense of humor.

I had some gloves like this that worked on my old P85. I'm pretty sure that you will get the HSW. I think all cars being built now (with the winter package) will have it now. Somebody on the forum PMd me with this information and it seems to be accurate.
Jan 27, 2015
Dennis87 Is it confirmed that all cars produced recently with the winter package now have the heated steering wheel? My car did enter production January 13, but still not completed.
Jan 27, 2015
gpetti As much as anything can be guaranteedyou should have the heated steering wheel. I have heard that most if not all cars produced since the new year have this feature and I have been assured that my car which entered into production on January 10th will have this feature. I'm going to accept delivery today so if this is not true I'll definitely let you know, otherwise I would assume that you have this feature.

Andyw2100 Hadn't seen before the above that today was the day for you! Congratulations! It's been a long time coming!
Jan 27, 2015
gpetti Thanks! I actually turned it on and let my hands heat even though I never actually drove itMight as well start enjoying it.

Jan 27, 2015
Andyw2100 Who are you trying to fool? You were just making sure you really had it!

Jan 27, 2015
gpetti You're right. I think the DS was sweating a little until i confirmed that the steering wheel was in fact warmingApparently I must have made enough of a nuisance of myself about the HSW that even the service guy I talked to made reference to the fact that the heated steering wheel was a "priority" for me. Oh well, apparently I'm also known for treating the service guys well so hopefully I can keep that reputation going (not that I want a lot of service calls).

Jan 27, 2015
Andyw2100 You missed a golden opportunity there. After all you've been through? You should have sat there with a puzzled look on your face, acting like nothing was happening, and periodically taking a hand off the wheel and pressing it against your arm or something, as if you were trying to see if it was warm. You could have had a little fun with them!
Jan 28, 2015
eco5280 What I'm looking forward to are the people complaining that it's too hot and that Tesla needs to add a feature IMMEDIATELY to let you select an exact temperature (in Kelvin of course).
Jan 28, 2015
gpetti Wow, I wouldn't want to cross you! That would have been funny but I wasn't feeling quite that cruel and I'm guessing my DS and many others are probably a bit too shell shocked to appreciate the humor.
- - - Updated - - -
I think I'll just go ahead and send that to ownership now to get a head start on it.
While we're talking about it, I had actually heard people mention that it was very hot on their cars but in fact I found it was an extremely pleasant temperature - better than my Infiniti in fact. Maybe it just feels hotter when the weather is actually cold.
Jan 28, 2015
Jaff Glad to hear that you finally got your car & the heated steering wheel!
My wife really like the heated wheel...I was kind of indifferent to it until I had to get back into the Roadster...I'm spoiled now (as the Roadster wheel feels like holding a block of ice)!

eco5280 I've mentioned it before but the heated steering wheel on the Nissan Leaf is crazy hot, but man does it feel good on even a cool day, much less a cold one. It cycles on and off so when it's super hot I just adjust my grip away from the hot spots for 10 seconds. I wouldn't turn it down for the world.

andrewket You guys are killing me.
Feb 2, 2015
gpetti Sorry man, originally I resolved to myself that if I got the HSW I would not crow about it. For what its worth, I still don't actually have the car. Though I received it in Vancouver about a week ago, it still hasn't arrived in Calgary and apparently is unlikely to arrive this week. I haven't driven a Tesla now for about 2 1/2 months and if Tesla had delivered my car to the original schedule, I wouldn't have got the HSW but would have been blissfully driving my P85D all this time. It appears that my original order is now in Vancouver and is a demo vehicle that is for sale. I'm not sure but it seems that it probably didn't emerge until January so if I hadn't reordered I probably wouldn't have got it much sooner - though without the HSW - at least that is what I'm telling myself.

Evee So you can get this retrofit. Labor varies by state, but you're looking at just over 2k.
Feb 19, 2016
MarcG Interesting! Is it from Tesla or aftermarket? Do you have more details, such as what parts are changing? Does it need a new wiring harness? How much time labor may take?
Feb 19, 2016
green1 Also, do you have to have the cold weather package already? or can you just add the wheel?
Feb 19, 2016
Evee Did it along with the ludicrous upgrade at the Las Vegas sc. Apparently you must already have sub zero and be in a specific vin range to be eligible. Basically anyone who ordered shortly after the d event.
