Amazing, just amazing color renderings!! I don't care if this is simple for you- they are simply awesome. Thank you so much!!

The oranger and purple colors reminds me of the mid-60's Mopars. I like the thought of Model 3 being the equivalent of a Mopar. Very appreciative!

Sold! I wasn't sure I would like the 3 in white like I do with the S, but this pic has me sold. I also do not prefer blacked out trim and wheels. I guess I'm old school and like the aluminum or chrome wheels on white. Nicely done Bayol.

I plain on getting the current blue being offered by Tesla on the S/X

But I really want a true Metallic Cooper color, like a brand new Penny... or two.

    Just my 2 :)

The black and blue were my first choices... But these renderings are great! The matte black and metallic silver with black trim are definitely on my list now as well.

And this is just sick looking... if it doesn't cost too much, that would be my new first choice.

Thanks to all of you who are whipping these up.

Can the front picture like the silver one be the same color as the 2nd car?
That way we'll get to see what it looks like front and back...
The Orange looks great.. But I think I'll get mine in black until I see a color that will make the front end of the car looks better...
  • May 6, 2016
    bayol
@Blackout The reason I only put the colors on the car in the back is because it's very difficult to turn silver or white into a color without it looking very fake/bad. It looks much better when you swing a colored car around to a different hue. Maybe I'll have another look at some point, but I did try and it looked pretty bad. You can see what I mean when I turned a silver to red in post #84.

Sorry I didn't know it was that hard but yah I was just asking if it was possible... I really appreciate the work you do... I was dead set on the Gloss back that will most likely be offered... The metallic one looks OK but I like the blend in of the dark windows dark tail light with the dark Gloss color...
But then I saw your work with the orange and now I'm starting to get new ideas lol

I just wanted to say thanks for doing these color renderings. I now can see my car better but my color isn't one of the choices in this poll.
That green rendering you did below that blue on page 3 is now my wall paper on the computer. I will definitely get the blue if green isn't offered. Both are amazing. Black/silver/grey/white/red/yellow/orange don't interest me at all. Now platinum metalic would interest me too.
Porsche did one in the 80s that was amazing.
  • May 7, 2016
    tsla007
Just for clarification it wasn't a brown but more of a shiny gold on tan. Man, it was flashy. Just like that gold lambo. This link below is a little too bright (looks like gold on white) but you get the idea. I think Porsche only made about 250 of them that year. It was a special paint.

May as well stick them up here. Any colours not covered let me know... once the mask has been added it's only a couple of minutes to come up with a new colour. I've even got sone in Red Italian Marble and Orange Zebra stripes just to prove it looks good in any colour, LOL.

That silver mod happens to also read like my request for a nose without the creases under the headlights to emphasize the aggressive sharkness of the "blunt front". Any chance you can find a nice 3/4-ish front view and add a license plate (just a blank rectangle will do) artfully fit into the blunt area?

I'm curious to see what the car looks like with a front license plate. Can someone photoshop a US-style license plate on the 3?
  • May 11, 2016
    arjay
I have asked the same question, so hopefully someone will be curious enough to Photoshop a front plate for us. FWIW, while waiting I printed a 3/4 front view from this site and then drew a license plate frame with a light grey prismacolor pencil and it really seems to make the blunt nose more "logical".

Bayol thank you for all of these options. I am totally confused. Could you please do the jaguar green from my prior post in the photo in the hills. Thanks

    Color me also very confused.
Every time I look at all these I end up with a different favorite...

Started with SigRed w/ grey wheels...then I was all about the Silver....now....
I'm definitely getting the Blue with grey wheels...

I just wonder where I will end up when configuration time comes...
Although I do suspect a somewhat limited set of choices coming off the line.

(Oh and my answer to the poll is Matte color, in my desperate hopes that there are multiple matte options)

Man this is the first time I'll own a car that I would prefer having a front plate... The plate help hide the empty front of the car... I like it like that...
I think I've made up my mind on which color I'll get for my car... I'll go with Matte black, Matt black rim, tinted window 35% front and back... And I'll have door handle painted gloss black, with the breaks in Red (I'm thinking of a painting the Tesla badge in Red too... But I'm not too sure yet...) I would love an interior with black and red seats but I have a feeling that won't be an option...

This thread definitely help me visualize my future car... Thank you everyone especially Bayol...

While greatly appreciating especially bayol for his photoshop wizardry, I am beginning to wonder whether we have slightly overdone this to the extent that some of these colors will simply not be available from Tesla. Also, it is a bit difficult to compare and contrast all the colors together to check which of them works best for Model 3. I wonder whether someone would be kind enough to do a single document (possibly downloadable) which shows Model 3 with every currently available Tesla color (MS and MX colors) - like a typical flyer you get from dealers for other cars. And it would be good if we can take out the tinted glasses and special rims and just have the car as we expect in base form.

Those of you in front of the queue will be invited to configure the car in the coming months (I think) and it will be good to be clear and fully decided on what color to go for don't you think?

Me too, I think it would be a gorgeous idea if someone like bayol (our professional) could fix something similar to the official tesla car configurator to play with... I will play again and again... and again.... to kill time until the end of next year.
Also a kind of "fake Tesla app" to play with on my andriod phone and getting familiar with it before I'll have my real car would be awesome:)

Hey Bayol...great idea for you. Quit your day job and do renderings of different layouts of the Model 3 for everyone here. Charge them $10 each. By the time your car is ready for delivery it will be paid for!!!!

I third the suggestion, @bayol!! Your renders look far more realistic than the ones on the current Tesla site, which look completely fake. You can't really get a sense of what the car will actually look like in the color you want (even plain white!)

Thanks for the suggestion @Jayc, it seems others liked the idea as well. I went ahead and thought it might be a decent idea to put a website together for this purpose. Its modeled after Tesla's Design Studio and is limited to Tesla Colors. Its a bit rough around the edges, but I want to keep developing it in the future. It does take some serious time, as does all the photoshop work, so I added a donate button in case anyone is feeling friendly. I will put any donations toward my Model 3 savings effort.

So ya, here it is: www.model3config.com

Let me know what you all think. I would like to add more photos in the future that you can play with. And I'm going to make a separate thread solely about this website.

If you want to go the DIY route, you can buy a plasti dip kit and it costs around $20. There's a video on YouTube from the company DipYourCar.com on how to black out the chrome on the Model S:

I'm thinking I'll give this a try with my 3, if there's no non-chrome option.
  • May 15, 2016
    Jayc
It's awesome, made an initial donation with potential for more. Thanks for putting the time and effort towards this. Would be good when you get a chance, to have the option to pick standard wheels rather than low profile ones. Also my earlier comment about tinted windows, here in the UK at least, there is no chance of tinting windscreen and front windows so would be good to see how it would look without - these are just suggestions to do only if possible.

Finally, a word of caution to everyone making various requests for colours and trims... keep it real and down to earth or else when Tesla puts up their real configurator, people are going to get really disappointed when they don't see their favourite configuration there.
  • May 15, 2016
    thebigbobowski
Nice, that looks really good. I'd be scared to attempt that myself because I'm terrible with DIY stuff and could see myself screwing it up.

What's the expected life of the plastidip product? He was just rolling off the unwanted bits in the video with his finger. Seems like this stuff would scratch up or come off really easily.

It is much easier than you might think. At worst, you do a horrible job, and need to peel it all off and start over.

A few years. It doesn't tend to peel off, but rocks etc. do 'chip' it. It takes a week or so to get firm.

    Thank you kindly.

Very good point, however I think with the far greater volume of the 3 we might stand a chance of having more colours offered than for the S or X. I'm also hoping someone at the mothership is paying close attention to bayol's work here and the resulting opinions/preferences discussed.
