petfansNetwork Two persons with Sig 414 and 508 have their delivery dates 12/28 and 12/21 (pickup at factory) respectively. What happened to Sig. #1 and #2?
Source: Sigs Only Please | Forums | Tesla Motors,
Dec 16, 2015
bonnie Those are not firm delivery dates.
Dec 16, 2015
petfansNetwork Bonnie, did you get a soft delivery date that you found not worth announcing? To me, you and Sig. #1 owner are most deserved to have the scheduled delivery dates.
Dec 16, 2015
bonnie Honestly, I feel a small responsibility not to contribute to speculation - when I know the time I'm leaving for the factory to pick up my car, I'll post.
If I give a target date and that date passes, you know people will speculate like crazy. I'm just doing my best to stay out of that.
Dec 16, 2015
omarsultan I can understand why Sig owners are not publicizing "soft" dates--along the way the "soft" gets dropped and the dates end up being treated as a firm date in the community, so if Tesla ends up not hitting the date, they get criticized for not hitting a date they never committed to in the first place--oh, and queue Seeking Alpha article.
Dec 16, 2015
aija SigX 649 +1 ..and if hit, there maybe a run on those locations on those specific dates that may gum up the works. Great publicity, but not a great, personal delivery experience IMO.

TSLAopt
I spoke to my delivery specialist today...a few weeks ago he told he he had news that he hoped my delivery might be mid-late December (not firm, just a rought ETA that could change)...however, today he said he couldn't say for sure anymore...when i asked him if he knew of any Sig holders getting delivery dates yet he said he didn't think so because they want to make sure all the Founders are delivered first and that there are nothing wrong with those cars before they start delivering the sigs.
Dec 16, 2015
aija SigX 649 Understandable, responsible, but could be perceived as a bit worrisome at the same time I suppose.

Merrill I'm unclear on how this delivery is different than when I picked up my Model S back in May of 2013. For me their was a delay because of the mc red, I was given a window of April or May and a few weeks before I picked it up at the factory I got a call from the DS and he gave me a couple of dates that I could come and take delivery. These dates were not maybe dates but specific dates to come to Fremont and take delivery. Are they doing it differently for the Model X?
Dec 16, 2015
bonnie We both know that's a GREAT date. Happy Birthday!

Dec 16, 2015
bonnie Hah. You're good. The answer is yes, but before anyone thinks that means something: I have a bunch of travel in the next several days (family related) and not always easy to be online to move things. Then with the Christmas holiday & (I assume) banks closed ... seemed like a good idea.

Dec 16, 2015
adelman I agree with Bonnie about not publishing a "soft" date, but I can say that I've received the same soft date as her (they plan on delivering Sig 1 and 2 together). It appears that many cars are being pre-positioned at other delivery points, but their delivery dates are expected to start after ours.
Dec 16, 2015
bonnie Yep. What adelman says.
Dec 16, 2015
esk8mw Hmm. It sounds like they are still planning on delivering several hundred before the year ends. I like the sound of that. Create a buzz right before announcing guidance is met or exceeded early jan.
Dec 16, 2015
FlasherZ It was reiterated to me that I should expect to take delivery the week after Christmas - that's my "soft date" with a lot of moving parts still in the works. What a great present. I'm hoping to do so before I leave for New Year's in Florida, but I'll be okay if I can "take delivery" with a drive around the block prior to departing and take it home when we return after the first.
EDIT: My wife says that I should change all "I"'s to "my wife" and "my" to "her".

4getgas No "soft" date on my purchase order (sig res #1070, VIN 453) and no words prepping me for any Dec SC delivery. All of this speculation is exciting, but a little frustrating. Can a girl get the straight scoop? My birthday's the 28th...just sayin'

bobbykansara I didn't get a soft date on anything either. Unless I'm looking in the wrong place. As a "lowly" production res. holder, perhaps they didn't give me one? Where would I look on the order sheet to see if there is a soft estimated date?

madodel Call or email your DS and ask. I'm Sig #1096, VIN 00444 and MyTesla still just shows "Confirmed" I had to nudge my DS via email to find out that my X is in "early production". No idea what that means but at least it is something. Also stop being depressed. All this means is that the dam is about to break and people will shortly be getting their X's. And that means you and I will be getting ours soon after. Soon it will be like an Oprah show here. "You get an X, and you get an X and you get an X..."

Aljohn Tires and rims have "balance points". Either a red or yellow dot. Tires and rims are seldom perfectly round or perfectly in balance. So there are identifiers that indicate the light or heavy point of balance. You will see either a red or yellow dot on the new tires as well.
Dec 17, 2015
Emily1 Some of you might have read on the Facebook feed, but I am the (future) owner of the red sig in NY. Was pretty bizarre to learn my car was there from a thread on the forum!
I went to the SC today and they let me see the car but not sit in it, as it still has no software and they didn't want anything to malfunction. It's great to see that it's actually here and within reach. They said it still had to go through final inspection and software install which will take around a week and can firm up delivery after that. So fingers crossed they will be able to get it to us by the end of the year.
There was one more sig red, 22"s, black seats there. I asked the vin and he said 647. I am finding the wait easier now that it isn't some abstract thought, but actually here near me. Soon!!

RossRAllen Congratulations and good luck toothless receiving the first Xs.
I'm SigX 508 with VIN mid 600's. I paid in full last Tuesday (12/15), and the invoice stated delivery to be "on or about 12/21". 12/21 won't happen, as I've heard nothing more and my My Tesla page still shows "confirmed" along with $0 balance due. DES said "end of December, first week in January".
BTW, my DES also confirmed that they cannot put a personalized plate on the car during registration and delivery in case anyone wants to do that and has the plate.
- - - Updated - - -
"To those"! "To those", not "toothless" thanks to my Ap[ple spellchecker. Although, some of us might well be toothless by the time we get our Xs...
Dec 19, 2015
vangogh ....@RossRAllen "BTW, my DES also confirmed that they cannot put a personalized plate on the car during registration and delivery in case anyone wants to do that and has the plate."
In California...you can apply for customer plates (takes 8-12 weeks)...then exchange the plates you receive with the Tesla for them. Time it right and everything is good...My plates are waiting for me at DMV...If I don't pick them up by 30 days past the last notice...they go back into circulation....
Dec 19, 2015
RossRAllen @vangogh - My browser coughed when I ordered my plates and I received no e-mail receipt and didn't hear a word until Thursday, when I got the first notice and NO DMV office listed on the back. So, whereabouts unknown. I'm going to my local DMV office on Wednesday to ask them to locate the plates and hold them until I get delivery + 6 weeks for the standard plates. I think they will hold for up to 60 days, or for two additional notices, unless you make arrangements.
Dec 19, 2015
Lyon Talked to my DS yesterday and now he's saying first of January as opposed to week after Christmas. Drat.
He gave some interesting tidbit though. His concern at this point is that the factory is taking a lot of time for final inspection and so it's really hard to predict how long it takes from the vehicle being built to being released from inspection. Also, the local delivery folks to an additional inspection before delivery and they're not sure how long that's going to take given that they've never done them before. He did say that the first Oregon Model Xs are arriving and he hopes to have a better idea how long the local inspection will take. He confirmed that the computer system is really accurate a tracking Model S build progress and almost worthless tracking Model X. Mostly because they're taking all the time they need to do the inspections.
Dec 19, 2015
rdalcanto Lyon - With Signature #1192, aren't you one of the last? And they are saying first of January? That is great for the rest of us!!!
Dec 19, 2015
dirkhh So they were indeed trying to deliver all the sigs in a week. Wow, that's ballsy. Even if they deliver them over a couple or three weeks, that's an impressive statement.
More power to you, Tesla!
Dec 19, 2015
goneskiian Presuming, of course, all sigs have confirmed their configurations. But I agree, even if they're trying to deliver all of those that have confirmed, that's likely a pretty good sized chunk of them.
Dec 19, 2015
Lyon I should change that. 1192 was my sequence number but my assigned VIN is 415.
Dec 19, 2015
goneskiian Which we don't know for sure has anything to do with production sequence. Or do we? ;-)
Dec 19, 2015
Lyon Yeah, I probably has something to do with production order. I imagine they assign VINs and then produce the bodies in order. Things may divert and change later but probably not too much. Where things really change is in inspection at the end. Any car could get bumped back for reworking.
That's just my guess.
Dec 19, 2015
hill don't tell anyone that I told you so, but our last set of custom plates languished for over three and a half months before we picked them up. The strategy is, once you've exhausted your sitting around time at the DMV, you have them transferred to your local Automobile Club. Those people are pretty good at letting them sit around for a few more months. If push comes to shove, we'll just put them on our other EV which has amateur radio plates right now. Those plates of course can not be grabbed up by anybody else. So when the time comes to take the Tesla plates off the alternate car the amateur plates will be ours to reinstall. Anyway, what do you think ....... [emoji16]
I do like me some double entendre's

Dec 20, 2015
hill I must have run a dozen vanity plate ideas by "she who must be obeyed". That was the one that seemed to strike the best cord. It's waiting fpr us at the DMV. SO all we need now is the SUV. Let's get this wrapped up!

ZachShahan Ha, I have seen at least one photo of a gas vehicle with that plate. Wonder if it was yours. Must get some people pointing & taking pics.
Dec 20, 2015
andrewket It's on a blue Honda Civic.
Unfortunately, it's on a standard passenger plate. The X is replacing a hybrid that has grandfathered clean special fuel plates that allow travel in HOV lanes. I need to get the CSF plate moved to the X (easy) and then the personalized combination moved (more difficult) without losing the old plate with HOV privileges (hard). Worse, in VA the local DMV can't handle the CSF tags; it's all done in Richmond, and I haven't had much luck getting someone on the phone down there to figure out the best way to accomplish this. If I lose the grandfathered tags my wife will kill me.

Zaxxon Yes, this.
Funny how I've been a reservation holder for nearly 2 years, but now that Xs are being delivered, the wait to get a test drive in so we can make our decision is the worst!
Dec 23, 2015
johnnyduval Not being funny - but I never really understand this thing about "test drives". I never bother......as long as there is headroom then I buy/order the car without testing. Done that with Porsches, Hondas, Volvos, Mercs etc over the years. You know it's gonna have 4 wheels and a steering wheel.
In the case of the Tesla X I really dunno why anyone would need a test drive.
Dec 23, 2015
MorrisonHiker I don't really need to drive it. However since the middle seats don't fold flat, I do need to see it in person so I can tell if the dogs will fit in the back.
Dec 23, 2015
ohmman I don't need to drive it either. However, I do want to use the doors in my garage, and would like to compare 6- and 7- seat configurations (though I'm pretty settled on 6). Once I'm convinced the doors work for me, I'll probably be good. The drivetrain and driving experience is actually the one thing I'm positive I want!

Dec 23, 2015
mspisars It seems like we can extrapolate that there will be at least ~700 X's delivered by end of year!
With this vin 62x and the 6xx vin in Florida seems "inevitable".
Dec 23, 2015
Roamer And the deliveries begin as a trickle. It is indeed a good sign.
Dec 23, 2015
MorrisonHiker I don't think we can extrapolate those numbers just yet. There are examples of confirmed orders between 200 and 400 who haven't heard anything concerning delivery. Just because VIN 62x will be delivered doesn't mean all VINs below it were delivered already.
Dec 23, 2015
Zaxxon This. No chance of 700, but at least some deliveries are happening.
Dec 23, 2015
dsm363 Congrats to everyone. Sounds like over 100 will be delivered at least.
Dec 23, 2015
FlasherZ You can't reach that conclusion. We don't have any confirmation that VIN corresponds with anything related to production. For all we know, they have a random number generator that - after the first 5 - determines the production order.
My DS has told me several times that it is looking like I would be one of a handful delivered out of my service center by the end of the year (and hasn't said anything otherwise), and yet I've also been told by another person who was watching for me that it would be a miracle if that happened. I think it's going to be more than 100, but I think my original prediction of 314 is in jeopardy.
I'm leaving on a road trip anyway on Dec 26 and won't be back until the first of the year, so I'm already preparing for pick-up in January.
Dec 23, 2015
AMN My VIN 51X isn't even in "body in white" phase, so I sincerely doubt there will be 700 deliveries any time soon. I am hoping they can crack 50 Signatures by the year end.

ohmman Whoa! That's pretty big news. Did you order a P90D?
Dec 23, 2015

ohmman Oops. Tapatalk doesn't show signatures! Sorry.
Dec 23, 2015
CarlK Yes he did. It's in his signature.
Dec 23, 2015
dirkhh Interesting distinction. I don't think my wife or I necessarily need to drive one. We want to see one in person, sit in it, etc. We have a few specific worries about the car, especially about size and utility. So I'm perfectly happy to simply meet with one of the local Sig owners after they take delivery (working this out right now) and if we are happy with what we see, I'll order one.
Reading along here I often think there are three slightly vague groups of buyers here.
a) "I'll buy the car, fully loaded, I will have to make room in my six car garage, maybe I'll sell one of the Bentleys." I.e. people for whom $140k is something they spend without much concern.
b) "I can afford this and pay cash, but that means I need to hold back on other purchases I had considered." I.e. people who are doing well, but $100k is a LOT of money to spend on anything.
c) "This is a stretch, but I believe in Tesla / EVs / it's just such an amazing car, I think I can make the monthly payments work." I.e. people for who this is maybe more than they should pay for a car, but they are doing it anyway.
I fall squarely in the middle category. So while this isn't breaking the bank, this is a significant purchase. My most expensive car before my first Model S was a Toyota Sienna in 2006 for $34k (we still have that one). Then a $75k Model S 60. And then a $115k P85D. So buying a replacement for the Sienna and paying 3-4x the price will mean that maybe some other things we looked at buying will have to wait. And because of this I want to make sure that this really does qualify as a replacement for both the Sienna and the Leaf.
Dec 23, 2015
scottf200 Which is pitiful considering Elon told the world they'd be making several hundred a week in December.
Dec 23, 2015
dirkhh That is actually quite shocking to me. I'll be honest that my first response was NO WAY.
I wouldn't be surprised if P reservation holders from the first batch who ordered and confirmed right away got their car before Sig reservation holders who delayed their order (I know of quite a few Sig reservation holders who still haven't clicked "Order"), but if you got a VIN < 150 with a production reservation... that seems wrong. I'm sure that at least 6-800 Sigs ordered either right away or right after the reveal. I just find it very hard to believe that those people would have higher VINs / later delivery than you...
- - - Updated - - -
How do you get to this number? I was going to say "around 4-500"...
My rationale? We have seen people as high as 650 be told that they'll get their car this year. My guess (based on comments here over the last three months and the ratios shown in the Model X Reservation tracker) is that about 2/3 - 3/4 of the Sig reservation holders ordered and confirmed within a few days of becoming eligible. So unless there are other weirdnesses (like we thought maybe with winter package, but that doesn't appear to be the case) that would delay some orders, that should get us 400-500 deliveries this year.
Dec 23, 2015
BajaSurBoy Bobby Does you Vin Number start with a P? Founders start with an F and Sigs with an S. Also how were you notified?

FlasherZ I'm a P90DL, fully loaded. If a production car gets delivered before my Signature car *again*, I'm going to organize a letter writing campaign to deliver a strongly-worded letter to Elon. Or something like that. Well, ok, I'm just not going to be happy.
Then when my car is delivered, I'll forget about it. Except for that little nagging thing in my head that will piss me off when they do it to me again for Model 3. I'm resilient that way.

dwebb66 we have to remember that there are three sequences of vin numbers, Fxxxxx, Sxxxxx, Pxxxxx (the last six digits of the vin)
when a a prodution person is reporting a vin of 150, that should be a P00150 vin.
i am not sure if Tesla treats them as three separate sets of sequential numbers, or uses the a single sequence.
Can folks with founders, signture and production post the last 5 of the last six digits? I.e. P0015x ??
