Do you have a source for this--the Q4 shareholder letter indicated they were planning "to invest in equipment to support cell production at the Gigafactory" this year.

    Darryl,
Guessing Model X deliveries is still tough. Hope you are wrong and it does appear deliveries are picking up this past week.

Regarding the GF, it is not running behind. There have been some articles about employment and spend onsite and using that data to extrapolate the timing of the plant. Most of those articles create negative forward looking estimates based on prior quarter data. Elon and JB have said they are ahead of schedule and at this point expect to produce cells by end of year 2016. Looking at recent pictures, you can see one end of the GF is left open allowing them to drive new equipment straight into the plant, and begin building phase 2 as soon as the phase 1 equipment is installed. A lot of project events can happen between now and the completion of GF phase one, but I'm optimistic they will stay on schedule.

Good luck with your delivery. Hope you get good news this week and love your car.

Well it's clear that Tesla is favoring us Californian's to the chagrin of everyone else.

It looks like this is all about bringing up the 1st quarter delivery numbers. Even to the point they are willing to give up the performance and premium options. So more about delivery numbers versus revenue.

    Anyone with a 70D?
  • Mar 7, 2016

So what's the current guess on delivery date for VIN 1645? I'm hoping to get it in time to travel to the Custer Tesla rally mid-May. And, no, I don't have Onyx wheels, but most everything else with a Factory delivery.
  • Mar 7, 2016

I think it has far more to do with the expiring CA tax incentive than beefing up 1st quarter numbers. They can beef up the numbers simply by making cars. Of course, they can take a temporary short-cut to higher numbers of cars actually delivered if they target orders which they can ship to the delivery destination in a day or two, as opposed to a week or more going across the country.

Also thinking that they're doing an initial run of 90D's so they can get the line ready to go for those configurations. They may want to hold those deliveries close to home for quick turn around on troubleshooting potential issues.
  • Mar 7, 2016
    napabill
You mean the high-income threshold? Incentive is still there for us <$500K commoners isn't it?
  • Mar 7, 2016

Yes, but is reduced I believe depending on your income level.

How do they figure the logic in assigning a #300 earlier VIN for your Jan 2016 confirmation and place my order (almost identical configuration) confirmed 1 month earlier to later production?
  • Mar 7, 2016
    Bgarret
I could be wrong, but it almost looks like they rolled CA VINs Southern California to Northern California . Wouldn't be surprised if they try to sneak up to VIN 25xx into Q1.....which would equate to almost 3500 delivered. My gut tells me production and quality control is picking up and potential delivery time compressing from 6-8 weeks (or infinity) to 3-4 weeks. I'm betting on a Factory delivery for Ohmman on March 30th.

    - - - Updated - - -

Total WAG, but call em up and say you will take factory delivery if you can pick up in Q1....worth a shot.

Looks like I got a super high VIN, but at least it's assigned as of today... 35xx for 90D with most options (20 inch wheels though), was in 12k range of sequence #. Chicago, IL delivery.
Hidden code says Late April - May for estimated delivery.

Just spoke with the delivery manager (as my delivery specialist had been unresponsive). She said that my VIN 1056 is scheduled to go into production mid-March and "could" possibly be ready for delivery by the end of March. She joked that if it was a Model S she could guarantee that it would be ready by the end of the month but since it is an X she couldn't make that promise. I am doing factory delivery so that should speed up the process once it gets through production.

It's likely that the date in the source is meaningless if the field is hidden - it's just using a default value that's not filled out.

In fact, my source shows delivery options ranging from December 1969 through June 1970 (i.e. around the UNIX timestamp start). That, or there's some time traveling magic involved.

The other field says estimated delivery is "March - Early April" (which is coincidentally also what my DS told me), but I wouldn't be surprised if this is based on the delivery options above, so it means "March - Early April 1970".
  • Mar 7, 2016
    petfansNetwork
My VIN 26nn had estimated delivery of late March - April (it's accuracy is doubtful). If you are interested in finding your estimated delivery date, you could view page source and search "Estimated Delivery". Here's how the page source looked

No. It's not a default value, if it were a default value everyone's would be the same and not change periodically. Mine changed recently to March 5-March 12, another Forum member had theirs change to March 7-March 14.

I'm hoping mine is at least close to accurate, that would be this week! :)

  • Mar 7, 2016

The March-April estimated delivery in the code is not in 1970, IMO. I've been checking my page source code regularly. The 1970s dates have been there for a while, but my March-early April estimate just showed up today. VIN 11xx. Factory delivery.
  • Mar 7, 2016

So although no dates in mine yet it must be close. What do you think?
  • Mar 7, 2016

No dates would be no estimate from factory yet, I'd guess that means your car does not yet have a slot in the queue.

  • Mar 7, 2016
    CaliX
So do you think the VIN (in terms of producing in sequence) is meaningless like the res # was ?
  • Mar 7, 2016
    ohmman
While I'm happy to have received a VIN, my current position is that it means nothing, and neither does the hidden Late March-Early April text on the page (I also see that on mine). Wouldn't complain about being wrong, but I just don't see it as being remotely realistic.
  • Mar 7, 2016
    CaliX
I think you are right. Glad I have my VIN as well... Not stressing it will get here when it does :)
  • Mar 7, 2016
    pvogel
VIN is an indication they have ordered parts for your car and a very rough sequence of when it will come off the line. After the line there's some variable amount of time in QA (which should get less and less variable as they get things dialed in) before the factory releases it for delivery.

My guess is they had some critical parts that weren't available, they got a good YUGE supply of them recently and are reasonably confident they can start cranking production up. But the estimated delivery time in there is almost certainly pulled from their internal systems (most likely Salesforce) and no date means the factory hasn't estimated a date yet.
  • Mar 7, 2016
    EboMike
Yeah - I don't even have my purchase contract yet (we're waiting for the appraiser to check out my old car to get the proper trade-in value), and I'm guessing that the factory won't begin production until the purchase contract is a done deal. But my DS is still as optimistic as ever.

OK, haven't looked at the page source since I got my VIN. At that time it had the Late March - Early April hidden dates that it seems a lot of people have. Just checked it and that is gone. Now I have an id="delivery-acceptance-date" class="hidden">March 7, 2016 in it's place. So, that's today's date... And I think it a bit coincidental and I would be premature to get excited over it -- especially since I seem to have a proactive DS that wants to keep me in the loop. I'll check it tomorrow and see what's up...

I was US reservation #20,xxx (Aug 2015) so I'm thinking either a very small percentage are confirming orders. First I thought it might be west coast only getting this batch of VINs, but there appear to be plenty of other areas too.

When you first log into my Tesla it will show a list of Tesla's you own, the full VIN is listed under the X. At least, that's where I see mine. It's probably in the source code of the page too.

I can see the whole VIN on MyTesla page, but that's because it let's me pick from one of the two Teslas I have. Unfortunately, my S will go away when the X comes...

If you don't have that and you go straight to the profile shot of the car when you log in, you can always find it in the source code, just like estimated delivery.

In your My Tesla page , right click on your "Model X" six digit #
    Choose "View page source"

In the popup, type the Tesla code "5YJX"

Just go our VIN 39XX today via the website. Production 90D with All options, 6 Seat. Late April - May Delivery is in the source code.
  • Mar 9, 2016
    Monkey
The "Late April - May" in the source seems to be more of a place holder and not indicative of anything really. A lot of people were hoping that this was more meaningful, but I don't think so. As far as I'm aware, the status of my car has not changed, and yet I've seen that text in my page source go from "Late February - March" to "Late March - April" then it disappeared altogether, then came back yesterday and it now reads "Late April - May"

    I'm production VIN #1101 P90D, VIN issued almost a month ago.... :/

Now it seems that the rest of the deliveries this month could very well all be to California or anywhere they can transport them in a single day in order to get their delivery numbers as high as possible for the end of Q1. I hope that's not the case, but I suppose I kinda understand it if true. OTOH, the rate of X production seems to be ramping quickly now.

There may also be a delay now with the white seats as they sort out durability issues and the backing material that Elon mentioned. I guess that's OK, as much as I want the car, I really want it to be as good as it can be.
  • Mar 9, 2016
    burger96
My VIN is 44xx, and my estimated delivery is May - Early June, which is later than what a lot of people are reporting. So while it may be a placeholder, it should still make you guys with lower vins pretty happy to hear, no?
  • Mar 9, 2016
    aesculus
I think the VIN's appear to be in batches and the estimates just get automatically incremented after so many VIN's have been assigned in a group. So these month estimates are just placeholders based on large numbers of cars in a given period. An actual car may change depending on features or perhaps even production issues etc.

When I received my VIN on 2/29/16, my page source said: "Late February - March"
Then about a week later, it said: "March - Early April"
And just a few minutes ago, on My Tesla page, just above VIEW DESIGN SPEC it says in plain view:

Your estimated delivery date is March - Early April.?

It's not exactly accurate as some members on the day they picked up their X, their's said still in production...

My order only confirmed March 5 and my status officially changed today with an estimated delivery date. My expectations and plan was that I would not see this before the summer. I ordered the 22" OB wheels and even the gallery rep informed me that these would significantly delay the delivery so I'm shocked that it will be this soon. Even if they miss this by a month or so it will still be way earlier than I thought.

I just checked as well and my date still says April - early May but it's visible on the page now and no longer hidden. Sounds like maybe they have more confidence in these dates than we thought?

Or their web dev screwed up the page today. One or the other.

    Mine says March 24 - 31.

given the volume of vin assignments in the last week and now seeing black onyx wheels out in the wild, could be they are hitting exponential ramp

May be the dates we are all seeing on our respective pages are real

i know some have had dates come and go, but those seem early Vin's with bugs they are working out hence taking longer

My delivery date is also March 24, 2016 - March 31, 2016? Seems unusual that so many people have the same delivery date range?

P90D with most options, 6 seater, Silver 22" - delivery Fremont Factory.

Yup, Seems like the default for California now? I still don't have my purchase agreement (trade-in appraisal will be on Friday), so there's just two weeks between finalizing the agreement and delivering the car. (Mine, and apparently 1000 others).

If they can pull it off, cool! But that seems like a very, very steep ramp up from the past few months.

My brother received his Vin 25XX. Southern Ca. Pearl White, Black Onyx Wheels, Black multi pattern interior, autopilot, 6 seats. Everything else standard equipment. Ugggg. I feel like I am the only one that has not gotten a Vin.

My hidden estimated delivery used to say late April - May and now says "Youll be scheduled for an exact date and time closer to delivery."

Join the club. It seems that all those experiencing the joy here are in CA or their cars were in production before the queue shifted to CA only. White seats also seem to be a hold up at the moment. I expect that they will resume more normalized production after Q1.

Same here.... the April - May is gone.... but, I am hopefully it is merely a refinement of dates.....
