Good luck tomorrow. May the pre-inspection gods be with you :)

Congrats K-MTG. My X is on a truck somewhere- vin # 42xx- no delivery in sight. Hopefully next week but I leave town for a week and my luck will have my car arrive on the day of my departure.

BTW- my delivery specialist did say that he is going to deliver my sun shade to my house in advance of my car delivery. Surprised you haven't gotten yours yet.

You know, someday soon, I hope I can look back at these threads and laugh about why all this stress as I silently zip around with my Model X and defy the blazing Arizona sun with my trusty sun-shade signed by the captain himself.

I was just being silly, because you're always asking if people got their sunshade with their delivered MX, which is funny because everyone on these forums knows now that Elon's promise of a sunshade is not being fulfilled and it seems to be such an EASY thing to manufacture in large quantities. Thus I was playing off your joke that Tesla can't even get an easy thing like a sunshade right, let alone the complex MX.
  • May 18, 2016
    K-MTG
The sunshade is significantly more difficult to manufacture compared to the X

Got our model X 90D here in Maryland today, May 18. There were 21 MXes on the Tesla lot in Rockville. We have some FWD alignment issues and a chrome trim issue that Tesla will take care of at next service visit. Also (as you may see on photo), the right FWD doesn't open fully up, which I noticed when I came home. Used the great Forum checklist - but not carefully enough, apparently. Going straight to installation of film protection of the whole front, plus rear bumper. I looked around on all the cars, and still was happy with my choice of midnight silver and ultra white interior. The storm troopers make it special. But all the MXes were great - there are no bad choices. Superb car, to state the obvious. You really feel stepping into a new era.

Can get loud. I was at a super charger, came back and decided to clean the bugs off the front. The fans were blowing so hard, they almost sucked the cloth out of my hand. The SC was at 395VDC at 390 amps. That folks is a lot of power!!

Picked up 3467 today, 90D Titanium w/ Black.

Great delivery experience at Tesla of Marietta, GA.

FWD alignment was off on both sides at the top and a few other items noted.

Had a great day picking up our 12 yr old daughter after her after school activity, other kids had that WTH look on their faces when we put up the FWD. :)

Then Pineapple reared her ugly head as the drivers door started opening and closing when I approached:

We did a summon into one of our "sheds" and after adjusting the sensors for a tight fit, it work perfect:

You can see our traded in MS "strawberry" next to "pineapple."

Sorry for the late response. My answer is that it's generally very good. I don't find myself using the maximum acceleration often in the X, though. Today I took a nice drive in the S after having driven the X quite a bit over the last handful of days. I definitely sense the difference, and whether that's seating position, the relative silence of the car, or whatever, it's more enjoyable. I wish the X was as fun to drive as the S, but for me it's not. Maybe if I had a P90D I'd feel differently. Not sure I'd have made a different decision in hindsight, just an observation.

think my DS lied to me... told me it was queued up in Fremont for shipment on Monday.
Stopped by Chicago (Grand Ave) showroom this morning and my car is in the lot! It had a post it note on the inside door saying "careful, door panel is loose." so, assume either it got there a LOT faster or he knew it needed some repairs and buffered the timeline.

good news is i saw MY X this morning. getting close!

I was assigned to Columbus and haven't had any issues with my DS. He's always been responsive and checked in at least once a week to keep me updated. I am growing a bit concerned though since my car should be arriving this week and I don't have a MVPA yet. I asked my DS for it last Friday and he said he put in a request for it but it still hasn't appeared.

Took delivery today and it's amazing! Got the active spoiler but no sunshade yet. I don't think I'd use it anyway since the tinting is more than adequate. They said mine was the first blue X to be delivered through Columbus. There were at least 10 other Xs in the service bay awaiting delivery, mostly P90D.

Yippy, after three years, we have our X! We picked it up in San Rafael and our first drive was a 2500' climb to the top of Mt. Tamalpais. Then after a stop over in Muir Woods National Monument, we drove 2.5 hours home.... all on one charge! Our orientation specialist, Ian, was awesome and gladly spent the two hours necessary to allow us to closely inspect the vehicle. The only issues were a small glob of tinting material on the FWD skylight (which was included as a service item on the due bill), a couple trim panels that were loose (and easily pressed into place, and small spots of adhesive residue on the wheels (easily removed). We got the 'free' active spoiler (which was not ordered), but did not get the gratis bioweapon filter (darn!). Ian said that Tesla will be including active spoilers on all X's, because it is too expensive to retool to not include them.

So far everything is great with the X, except within a few miles of home some nut job came around a corner and forced my wife into a large muddy puddle on the shoulder coating the entire car in mud and grit :( One thing I did become aware of with the X is that the combination of darkly tinted second row windows, a small-darkly tinted rear view mirror and a huge B-pillar, make for a nasty little blind spot on the left side of the vehicle. If anyone has any tricks for eliminating or mitigating that blind spot... please share.

No sunshade, but we were provided with a nice TESLA umbrella that could serve as sunshade in a pinch

VIN 29xx, reserved May, 2013 (#35xx), ordered late Feb, delivered late May, 2016.

Thanks for the link to the Blind Spot thread! I wonder if blind spot detection something Tesla could fix with a software update, of does it require new hardware? It's a bit odd that MS and MX can detect blind spots with autopilot, but can't adequately notify the driver.... it seems like this should be fixable without aftermarket applications.

Got the call, ready for delivery anytime this week!

    vin 50xx, Pearl White 7-seater. 90D, non-PUP.

There are about a dozen Model X at the Devon, PA SC. My DS initially told me this morning the service dept. was waiting for some unnamed part(s) to be sent out from Fremont for all the Model X they had waiting in the lot before they could deliver. But a few hours later she called saying she had the OK for me to pick it up anytime I was ready.

I had a good long look at the exterior this past weekend after noticing it had arrived already. I see I have the active spoiler. I also noticed at least one 90D on the lot with the fixed spoiler, so it looks like I was early enough to get the freebie upgrade but that's over now for newly manufactured 90Ds.

I noticed one spot on the car I'm not so sure about concerning fit. Any opinions?

I would not be in a hurry. This is a bad sign. You need to look at all panel seams and fits. Get it fixed first or be in for a long headache. Headache(Tesla X issues) is the most common form of pain. It's a major reason people miss days at work or school or visit the SC. Two big issues are door handles off alignment and FWD's sticking out around bottom area.

    I know what i'd CONSIDER saying;
"I'm sorry but there's a glaring alignment error - easily visible for all to see, can you please take care of it?
and if they said, "uh, I don't see anything...." I'd seriously think about saying, "really? Well let me know when you can find a service person who CAN see obvious glaring alignment issues ... and get it fixed ... and after that, let me know when I can pick it up.

Thanks for all three who confirmed this is a spot to deal with.

Handles and FWDs look good to me, we'll see once I get them open and closed a few times. That front spot on the hood was the only line looking a bit off to me. I haven't seen the interior yet.

Contrary to some of what I see at TMC, my experience w these cars has been fabulous. I had an early VIN ModelS (3440). The car was awesome and any issues were promptly and efficiently handled by my awesome service center staff. I have no doubts the same will be in store for the new X.

    Super stoked!

Phew, it looks like we just squeeked in for the active spoiler freebie.

Thanks for the blind spot link, but it seems like the information assumes you can see the cars behind you with the rear view mirror. What makes the MX blind spot so big is that you really can't see much with the rear view mirror even with the 6 seat configuration (due to the small rear hatch window, small rear view mirror and super dark tinting on the rear hatch window). So, without much of a rear view it does not work very well to adjust the side view mirrors outward. Maybe some sort of fisheye mirror would help??

In my Model S I keep the rear view camera on the top screen, zero blind spots.

I must say. After looking at the pictures on the forum I payed very very close attention. I noticed the top of one of the FWDs to be maybe a millimeter off. The handles were aligned perfectly as everything else was. If I took a close up picture and posted it, you may notice it. But if I never read the forums I wouldn't have put an ounce of worry into it even after noticing it. Basically what I'm trying to say is. It looks much much much worse in the pictures then it actually is and I'm sure 99.9 percent of people would be completely ok with it after seeing it in person.

vin 30xx, 90d midnight silver, 6 seats, pup, tow package picked up today. My build date on the sticker is 05/16. some random thoughts
    • no sunshade
    • all door/panel alignments seem pretty good to me
    • 3rd row seats are ridiculously hard to put up and down. not only do you have to have cat like reflexes with the timing of the latch, but you have to be incredibly tall to reach in and pull it back up.
    • there's a really bad crease in the leather on the driver seat. anybody else notice this? is this something that should go away on it's own after it settles or something that I should bring in to get fixed?
    • the spoiler is fixed
    • the windshield glare is incredibly bad. i haven't driven at night yet but even in the day time, there's those grill vents on top of the dash close to the windshield and the glare/reflection of the windshield causes me to just see those little tiny vent holes all over the windshield while i'm driving. anyone else notice that? am i the only one?
    • i think there's something wrong with my 2nd row tilt motor. on the passenger side 2nd row seats, if the seat is reclined, when i try to tilt it down it using the controls at the base of the seat (not the easy access controls) the seat tilts fine for about 2 seconds then it just stops. I have to release the tilt control and then press it down again and then it will go for another 2 seconds. I have to do this about 4 times before it can return to the non-reclined positioned. The driver side 2nd row seat doesn't have this problem. Anybody else notice this? I don't think I've seen anyone report this problem on the forums yet.
    • I had a 2014 S85 before this. I had a car seat behind my driver's seat in the model S and I was able to have my seat almost all the way back without touching the car seat. In the model X I feel a little bit more cramped driving because my seat needs to be more forward to accommodate the car seat in the 2nd row. It's not bad at all, just something surprising/unexpected. I thought the 2nd row seats would have as much room as the model S but doesn't seem like that's the case.
    • Biggest regret is getting the premium package. The auto present doors so far seem to be more of a hassle than helpful. They mostly work as advertised, but I just don't think I'll get that much utility out of them. Everything else in the premium package doesn't warrant the price in my opinion.
    • 2nd biggest regret is the tow package. That seems useless, since everybody seems to be getting that for free.
    • The 2nd row seats desperately needs to move in 2 inches towards the center for the 6 seat configuration. The FWD rubs against my shoulder when I sit in the 2nd row. Still incredibly happy with the 6 seat config over the 7 seater though.
overall happy with the car so far. I've got a 300 mile drive planned this weekend so i'll see how the range is. My car is in pretty good shape compared to some of the other early builds on the forums. Not everything is perfect, definitely some minor complaints here and there given that this is a $120K car, but overall a satisfied owner.

Yes but they aren't getting the software element of tow package and what they actually get can change at any time. a la fixed spoilers
  • May 25, 2016
    Colby Boles
Yes, I don't understand why this is necessary, or why these need actuator motors at all. I am a hatchback / SUV person and every other manual fold down seat I have is perfectly satisfactory the way it is. If it isn't broke, why break it?

You're not alone. I posted about this here:

Took delivery of VIN 24xx P90DL in Fremont on 2016/05/23

Again, I'm not sure what the point of doing this was. I agree the reflected glare / pattern is very distracting. We have 5 other vehicles ranging from 1975 to 2011 that don't seem to have this issue. You can see that the non-perforated section of the dash is much less of a problem. I also get bad glare off of the chromed side view mirror stalks. Sometimes you wonder "did anyone actually drive this thing before finalizing all of these design elements?". Stranger still I noticed these problems while driving away from the Tesla factory right when everyone was getting off work there. There had to be a number of MX driving Tesla employees leaving that factory at the same time everyday as I did, heading North on I-880 who would notice.

I didn't get the premium package for precisely the reason that I suspected the auto-presenting doors would be unreliable or annoying. For some reason I assumed that not getting it would mean I would not have motorized front doors. I really have no interest in the motorized doors. I am constantly trying to keep them from banging into things, and one of them doesn't soft close the door properly when I took delivery, so the SC is trying to schedule time and a loaner to fix it.

Yep. Just buy the accessory hitch. I don't understand why they are still showing both in the Design Center. Just trying to make extra money on those who don't read TMC?

I have been saying this all along too. I think it is probably too expensive to redesign the monopost support structure just for the 6 seat config. Also, tall people like me end up hitting their head on the center tunnel above if you move us medially, assuming that it cannot be easily redesigned.
  • May 25, 2016
    goneskiian
I don't recall how many are or aren't getting the software. Haven't some reported they are?

How are fixed spoilers changing at any time? Or are you referring to the change on the manufacturing line?
  • May 25, 2016
    umeshunni
I ordered the accessory hitch back when it was free (Nov) and it looks like I got the Tow package. Curious what the software element of it is.

About the windshield glare and vent reflection - I noticed it today while driving out in the early afternoon and agree that it is pretty bad. I guess I didn't notice it earlier because I was wearing polarized sunglasses.
  • May 25, 2016
    chloedog
Yeah the glare of the line between the vents on the dash and the solid part of the dash is literally exactly at my line of sight so there's no way for me to not see it. Incredibly annoying. I wonder if there's some anti-glare tint or something that would help. I'll start a separate thread for this to see if other people have done something.

Delayed update: Car delivered on 21st May. Was produced on 4/16. Spent 1 week in SC for detailing etc and waiting for a carrier to ship it to me. Was delivered in a covered carrier, as I had requested. Other than a small misalignment of the drivers side door and falconwing door's top parts, everything looks great! First long drive coming up this weekend. Should be fun.

The previous 90D cars came without fixed spoilers and now 90D cars come with fixed spoilers. Meaning, it's possible for future MX with accessory hitch to come with something not as nice as the tow package hitch.

I received an active spoiler on my 90D (took delivery just a few days ago) and I also received the hardware equivalent to the full tow package even though I only ordered the accessory hitch. By Hardware I mean the car is reinforced in the rear with the necessary tow bar, hitch housing, and electrical wiring. The car also came with the large 2" Bosal removable tow hitch receiver. However, the car does NOT have the software setting in Controls -> Driving -> Trailer Mode, which is an integral part of the tow package to enable towing a trailer (the software disables air suspension, autopilot, imposes emergency steering/braking limitations, etc to accommodate the differences in towing a trailer vs. normal driving.) Without this software, I don't feel my car is equipped to adequately handle towing, only attaching accessories like a bike rack or basket style cargo carrier, which would be the same as if I had only received whatever hardware was promised with the Accessory Hitch option purchase. So, don't feel bad, what you paid for does give you functionality that we lowly Accessory Hitch purchasers don't get. :D

I wonder if down the road we will have the opportunity to purchase an upgrade to Tow Package, similar to Tesla's current policy of equipping all cars with Autopilot hardware and offering the over-the-air upgrade. Or the 70D Sedan orders that received the 75KwH battery and an option to upgrade as well.

image.jpeg image.jpeg Update on our X. We picked it up 5/17 a 90D with premium. The spoiler looked fixed. It has been in detailing since last Thursday and just got it back today. It had to make a pit stop at the service center. They either forgot to check or document the oil level in the drive train and wanted to make sure. Tesla didn't want us driving it so they towed it from the detailer to the SC. Turned out everything was ok, no issues. Also they verified that our spoiler is indeed fixed. Vin 39xx.

I had xpel for the entire front end. IGL kenzo for the added paint protection, powder coated the stock wheels and tinted the front windows.

Even though it has been over a week, we have only had 1-2 days with the car due to detailing and vacation. The alignment has no issues.

The front hood was a bit off pre-delivery as I posted upthread. I emailed them the day before delivery, and they had it adjusted and looking great when I picked it up. They said if I still felt it was off they could remove the hood and do a more careful fitting but it would have taken extra time and postponed my delivery date. I think it looks totally fine now so I said no to that option. Everything else about the car looks fantastic IMO, with the exceptions below.

Devon PA service and delivery teams are great (Caitlin was my DES but Bryan in delivery - who delivered my Model S 3 years ago - and Marc in service also hung out for a bit and helped deal with my neuroses....) They put up with me about 1.5-2 hours inspecting the car carefully and having them show me some stuff I needed to learn about with the tow hitch, rear seats, UMC (operates lightly different than an S does) and other bits and pieces. Got a nice swag bag too, umbrella, mug, pin, pen, and I also got the tan leather Moab weekender bag (I paid for that last one though o_O:rolleyes:)

I had 4 other items that will need attention post delivery.
    1) I got some ghosting on a driver-side FWD sensor right as I was finishing up delivery - the little red curve showed up indicating it was seeing an obstacle even though none was there. This has been happening intermittently over the last 2 days as well, I'd say about 20% of the time it's seeing an obstacle (I would need to override on my touchscreen and it will open verrrrrry slowly that way if that occurred and I actually needed to open that side).
    2) The windshield wiper fluid chamber is full, but there's something blocking the fluid and it won't spray.
    3) The spoiler had 2 issues - 2 specks of dirt under the paint, and it appears slightly misaligned when it goes to sleep, with one side sitting below the hood in its housing (maybe not the right word) and the other side sitting flush with the hood, 4 or 5 millimeters higher than the first side.
    4) If i stomp down on the go pedal I hear a squirrily noise between 20 and 50 mph, it sounds a little like rubber squeaking against something. i dunno exactly how to describe it, and it doesn't happen in any instance other than maximum acceleration with my foot 100% down on the pedal. I also don't hear it with the window open, only closed which makes me think... well I dunno actually, since I'm pretty ignorant with this kind of stuff.

So they are sending a Ranger out (tomorrow I believe, if they overnighted the part as they said they planned to). It's really that sensor that's the only thing I want to make sure is addressed right away. Well, i guess the windshield wiper fluid stuff too, but the ranger will handle that in about 2 minutes i think. The spoiler will be replaced and that weird noise will be looked at, but I'm in no rush and will take care of that down the road when I have any other reason to schedule a service visit.

Gotcha. Yup, that's what I thought you meant.

Why is the accessory hitch not as nice as the tow package hitch? Have you actually seen one? :p;)

@JamesG I'm wondering, when did your car go into production? I'm also in MA waiting for a 75D and picking up from Dedham hence the interest :)

@socalsam : How did everything look at delivery? Body panel alignment good? I'm wondering if the couple of thousand VIN numbers between our two vehicles has improved things.

@Peanuticus I ordered a white on white and test drove a white on white at my local SC. It was gorgeous. The last thing I wanna do is start tension with my TMC homies, but white on white looks amazing and I definitely think it's the best by far. I talked to one employee at the SC and he said he likes the white on white the best, before I even mentioned my liking for it.

Received Eva at the Seattle Delivery Center yesterday. It was an amazing experience driving Eva home.

The overall fit and finish was great but not perfect. I noticed a small hairline dent on the right side door, some leftover glue along the patch that runs in the middle of the windshield and the gasket around the FWD frame was loose. I did notice that pretty much all the gaskets around the door frames are loose and can easily be pulled out. They scheduled an appointment at the service center to address those issues in late June.

The brakes seem to make a noise when engaging and disengaging. Same with coming out of the Park mode. I am hoping some breaking in will help with this. I did notice a faint rattle from the driver side rearview mirror area yesterday. But did not hear that today.

Functionally, things look good so far.
    • Build date 04/16 - looks like they retained the car to fix the 3rd row
    • Car came with active spoiler - pretty happy about this
    • Averaging 385Wh/mile for the first 90 miles or so - mixed highway / city roads (has been 60F around here for the most part)

Taking Eva on a roadtrip this weekend. I will post photos and more about the trip later... loving the car!

Honestly I did no pay attention if there was a white car there. Was too caught up in my delivery. There were 3-4 Xs but I couldn't tell you the color.

I have a delivery date! On MyTesla page it said end of May, and it's May 31st. Just thought I'd throw in a data point where Tesla makes a deadline. While Tesla has missed quite a few, for sure, I think there's kind of reporting bias thing that happens on forums that makes it worse than it seems. Of course, it's not in my garage yet...

Congrats. It's a beauty. Did you work with Lauren or Bryan? Was the delivery estimate accurate? How are you finding the AC in the heat? Any road trips planned?
