Aaaargh! just got off the phone. Their estimated entry into the assembly line is Oct 7; Completed October 11; ships out the 12th; 7-10 days transit. estimated delivery oct 21! almost 2 months! I guess their really pushing out the +s. Does anyone have the number to a cryopreserve facility?

Assembly the 7th--wow! I think they must be cranking the European deliveries again, and US will have longer wait times. OUCH! BTW, it won't take 7-10 days to FL. Maybe 4.

For me, I couldn't drive a car like a Bugatti (or a Ferrari or Lamborghini). It just wouldn't fit me and I'd feel like I was "showing off". But the Tesla... Fits me to a "T". It's just the right balance of luxury and sport. Add to that it's green and you've given me enormous added incentive to drive a $100k car. It's the perfect storm.

Totally get what you're saying. But for me, I could choke back my humility to put my butt in the seat of a Bugatti. Parking it in front of my small, modest house would be ridiculous, though! Even the Tesla is too good for my driveway, lol.

The exquisite torture of waiting is still quite fresh in my mind. It took my car 39 days from confirmation to delivery, and I obsessed over the "My Dashboard" page (which I know isn't accurate for everyone) and the forums the entire time, at all hours. The forums helped but mostly just further fed the obsession.
Yes, waiting is hard, but the payoff at the end is absolutely worth it, and the obsession hasn't really subsided for me. On days that I don't get to drive*, I still feel somewhat compelled to at least sit in the car in the garage for a minute, maybe try out a feature on the touchscreen that I haven't used much yet.
* I've been riding my bicycle to work a lot in the past year or so (10 miles round trip) as an attempt to exercise and get into better shape, and before I got the Model S it was working somewhat well. Now I have to muster significant willpower to not drive.

I'm pretty preoccupied with it too. I have fallen asleep more than once watching "Mega Factories" or some other YouTube video about Tesla. It's been years since I was so excited about something. There is a difference between placing an order for a car that was still in the design phase and ordering one that is in production at a rate of over 600 cars per week. I understand that Tesla batches cars through production based on configuration but I have noticed cars with similar build to mine being delivered quicker (some on the east coast). That's why I said the wait is hard... I also have a Model X reservation and know that by the time I get that car I will probably have waited 1-2 years. However, it does not bother me at all since the Model X is still in the design phase.
BTW, If I don't have patience I wouldn't have managed to go through all these years of school and training (medical school and TWO residencies). So my advice for you is to THINK before you make a blanket statement like the one you made ("Consider it an exercise in learning patience!") as you don't know the other person's background.

Called my Tesla contact this morning until he picked up (I was up hours before they get to office and there's a time zone difference too) and now they've made the change to P and will e-mail me with confirmation the moment it's confirmed in the backoffice. They'll also send me a new agreement (I requested as I need that for applying for the subsidy) as well as try to get the COC already for my car With teh COC I should be able to get the type pre-registered here and this means that the moment the car rolls off the trailer (seems more and more I'll need that unless Tesla can figure out insurance for me) I can have it registered and insured

We can pull through this Guys!
Hey SamGarber! - I'm ordering out of the KOP store too and working with Kevin. How has your experience been? I'm currently waiting on my HPWC which I confirmed on 09/16/13. When did you receive yours?

Sep 26, 2013
SamGarber
I had to wait quite a while mostly because they will not ship the HPWC before a VIN is issued. I had to prod the Tesla delivery lead Matt Aldridge ([emailprotected]) to get that going. He also introduced me to the DS at Norristown SC who is Bryan Hawn ([emailprotected]).
Once the VIN was issued and showed up on the site - the HPWC showed up within days since they used overnight shipping. I never got any tracking, just showed up on doorstep. If you live in an area where you don't want to leave a $1200 gizmo in a conspicuous white and red box with a big "Tesla" on it, you should be watchful for it once VIN is issued since signature isn't required.

You will see all kinds of changes in production, out of production, back to sourcing, etc--it will get frustrating, but just know the car is running through, the dashboard is pretty much worthless--that's a quote from my Tesla DS. Told me listen to HIM, don't believe anything you see in dashboard as 'they are still working on it'.
I'll warn all of you now--do NOT get wrapped around what you see in 'Dashboard' as it's NOT accurate--period.

We're getting close... kind of surreal at this point eh?
I'm having the electricians come out Tuesday and I think we're gonna go for two outlets as well. My wife will probably end up with an EV at some point. How much did they charge you to install the two outlets if you don't mind me asking. I'm still waiting for a quote.

Oct 6, 2013
ACDriveMotor
It cost me around $900 to have both outlets installed. Pricey, but that was mostly labor. I was pretty on top of the guy and he was busy the whole time. It just took a while to bend and run the conduit across the garage. And the place near my box required drilling through a stud and fishing flex conduit. I think the price would have been lower if I didn't have a full breaker box. He put in 2 x 240 breakers one for each 14-50 in case I end up with 2 EV's. That required changing out some of my 15A breakers for lower profile versions. I estimate it might be been 50 - 70% of the price if it weren't for that extra juggling.

Oct 6, 2013
bareyb
That's a pretty good price. Voltz electric is quoting me $900.00 for one outlet in the same room. I'm thinking my wife will probably end up with an EV so now I'm considering adding that second outlet here as well. I sent them this photo of my garage and I'm hoping to get an updated quote tomorrow.

Oct 6, 2013
doctrewho
That looks about the same as the run they are doing for mine on Wednesday. My quote was just under $1000 (city permit included).

Oct 7, 2013
ipryor
I was quoted $900 for a connection to the HPWC. They are running the power from a 100A circuit in my basement out and up to a finished wall in my garage! I was thinking about having an extra NEMA 14-50 outside of the HPWC but I don't think I will need that for sometime now. My delivery date is sitting at 11/25 right now and I am boo hooing everywhere. :-( Hopefully I'll get the HPWC soon so I can at least get that part done and feel like I'm one step closer!

Oct 7, 2013
texex91
Just FYI, my 14-50 cost $200--licensed master electrician in Texas did it.

Oct 7, 2013
DIL
FWIW I got two quotes on 14-50. First was a local electrician who hadn't done many EV installs: $1250. Second was referred by SolarCity, and has done >50 Tesla installs: $800.
I think it's a bit of a racket, and they're certainly making healthy profit margins no matter what. My fuse box is in laundry room directly adjacent to garage, so it's a simple job.

Oct 7, 2013
SamGarber
Definitely sounds a bit off. I was quoted around $700 from a local guy for HPWC or a 14-50 and I had a 50 foot run from panel to outlet/charger. Use Angie's List to get more options. Or Yelp or Yellow Pages.

I have no clue what my 14-50 will be.
I am having 3 outlets installed. Each with their own 50AMP breaker. 2 outlets inside the garage and one outside next to the driveway for the visitors. It will require an estimated 150' of 8/3 wire and some conduit for the outdoor run. So prolly $300-$400 just in wire, outlets, breakers, conduit, etc.
I figure if it takes 4 hours to install with 2 guys there at an average of $75 - $100 per hour then it should be less than $1000.

Oct 8, 2013
SamGarber
It took about 5 hours for 2 guys to install 1 breaker (relocating some things between my main panel and subpanel) and run a 50feet wire in my case.

Price update. The above work was $750. Not too shabby it you ask me.
