FarmerDave I will receive my Signature Model X next week and wanted to prepare for the delivery process, so I created the attached checklist based on Nick Howe's Model S list. I know there are probably errors and omissions in the list, so please help improve it.

SMSMD Great initiative. .thanks

Mark Z Here are additional Model X specific items from my list created after taking delivery. Some may be repetitive from Nick's list, but I'd rather include them here.
- Check that 2nd row safety plates at the floor leave no gaps or holes during the entire forward and backward movement of the seats.
- Check all 2nd row seats for missing seat anchor point covers.
- Check both sides of each 2nd row seat for loose trim.
- Check under the carpet mats at the 2nd row for level seams on the floor. Rock the floor edges front to back to check for wobble of each of the three sections.
- Check that 3rd row seats fold down. Headrest first and the seat back follows.
- Check that the 3rd row seats can release and be restored to their upright locked position.
- Check the 3rd row seat backs where they meet in the middle. Is the leather stitched trim the same size on each side?
- Check from the trunk that the bottom of the rear seat carpet back is not bent and binding when raised. Pull trunk load floor firmly towards the rear of the vehicle to increase the gap.
- Check tie downs in the trunk that they are lying flat against the carpet and not sticking up.
- Stop the Falcon Wing Door in mid travel using the key fob to check for seal damage or misplaced wiring.
- Check if the driver and passenger door always open without having to pry the door loose with fingers.
- Let the Model X time out with doors open. Check if the driver and passenger door close and latch.
- Check both Falcon Wing Door sills for dents and scratches.
- Double check all wheels for edge damage.
- Check hidden paint edges at the B pillars for paint chips next to the roof glass.
- Check for Parcel Shelf to be installed with rear seats down (included for Signature vehicles)
- With the hatch open, check the seal space between the paint and plastic.
- With the hatch open, Check that upper hatch seals are closed with no paint or a little paint showing. Easy to correct on the spot.
- Check the rear headrests for scratches on the plastic back while the headrest is down before seat lowering.
- Check the 2nd row seat posts for scratches and carpet alignment at the base.
- Check leather seats for pucker (hills). Creases on the edges are normal for this quality of leather.
- Check windshield in direct sunlight for any sparkles caused by sand hitting the windshield during transport.
- Check paint carefully for specks of clear coat that may affect the application of clear bra wrap. More frequent on horizontal surfaces (hood).
- Check under the carpet cover in the rear trunk if the air tubes are fully positioned across the width of the trunk and did not slide together in shipment.
- Check top center roof glass outside for excessive height differences or bending.
- Check rear hatch when closed for equal sized gaps on both sides. Now, check the taillight gaps if they are of similar spacing on each side.
- Check rear hatch top alignment with Falcon Wing Doors. Most important is that all chrome trim aligns around the entire vehicle.
- Check under outside rear view mirrors for excessive clear glue.
- Check at the right and left bottom corner of the windshield for loose plastic trim that has pulled away from painted B pillar.
- Check during a test drive at slow speed that a raise of the cruise control doesn't cause the vehicle to engage at low speed and speed up gradually.

EboMike I created a Google Docs document for this that anybody with this link can edit. The formatting got messed up a bit during the transfer. Tesla Model X Checklist.pdf - Google Docs
This document is (so far) the combination of the work of Nick Howe, FarmerDave and Mark Z. Please don't share it outside TMC.
Let's see how this goes, I may need to switch it to "suggestions only" if a Wikipedia-style approach doesn't work.

valleywag Thanks.
Jan 14, 2016
CmdrThor I don't think Tesla makes the 6-50 adapter for the Mobile Connector anymore so you can remove that.
Jan 14, 2016
EboMike Thanks! To reiterate - everybody is welcome to update this document (please don't deface it). If you're not sure about something, you could just strike something out with a comment instead of deleting it outright. Or you could go to "Add Comment".

scottf200 I thought I read the procedure to calibrate was to hold button down 10 seconds after the window is down and 10 seconds after the window is back up? Anyone else recall reading that here or on FaceBook? I tried searches in the FB group and using TMC search but couldn't find it.

Mark Z I don't want to add this to the checklist, but rather for those that have taken delivery, please take a look at the "A pillar" on both sides from the front of the Model X. Has Tesla corrected the visual gap between the windshield border and the Alcantara material inside next to the windshield? Below is a link to my post in the windshield sun glare topic that got us looking at the "channel" where a sunshade might fit. You will need a bright flashlight to easily check this. More details here:

Darryl I agree when you purchase a $150k car you expect for it to be delivered with little to no defects but I doubt there are very few who have ordered a Model X who will cancel their orders based on what they have read on these forums. On the other hand we will use what others have reported to make sure we find the majority of the defects before we leave the service center. The car I currently have is a Jaguar XJ Series. It wasn't $150 but with taxes it was almost $100k. When I picked it up from the dealer it was perfect and I have not had any issues with it. I was hoping my experience would be seminar with the Tesla.
I have temporarily lost most of the vision in one eye and don't feel comfortable in doing the inspection on my own. I am scheduled to get my car in the next ten days. We are new to the Space Coast area and don't know too many people around here. I have reached out to another forum member who lives about 30 miles from me who has volunteered to help out. I only know him from the forum.
I wish they would add another SC in this part of Florida. The closest SC in on the opposite side of Orlando and well over an hour away, about 65 miles. The next closest SC is in Palm Beach county which is about 90 miles away. Hopefully there are not that many issues as it is a long drive to either center.

Apr 24, 2016
SMSMD Welcome to TMC..It`s not China`s turn yet I guess..did you get a VIN ? Tesla is busy with the recall, fixing 3rd row seats , you will get a better vehicle. Only when you get the VIN your vehicle goes for production. Good luck

EV-lutioin This is awesome! I expect to take delivery any day and this will be very helpful. My favorite one is: "Is it your car?"

F123456 I added the blind phone holster accessory to the list under Basic; got the details from a different thread.
May 3, 2016
EV-lutioin Originally the blind phone holster was not part of the Premium Upgrades Package, but now I see it added as "Quick Connection Phone Dock". Does anyone know if it was included in earlier versions even if you did not chose the Premium Upgrades Package?
May 4, 2016
loganintx Where do you see it?
May 4, 2016
vangogh One other thing to check for....floor mat to carpet connection....
One of the Velcro(?) pads attached to the carpet or floorboard was detached and would not secure the floor mat in position....
I'm leaving on a 10 day trip so I just dropped my car at the SC to get this replaced, get the 3rd row recall fixed and to correct some hatch/panel gap issues that I've been living with since delivery...Wish me luck to have it all completed by the time I return...

BuddysX Does anyone know if this is the updated version of the checklist posted back in January or is there a more recent version somewhere? Picking up my car on Monday. Thanks
May 15, 2016
WilliamZ Funny thing here: I printed a copy of the check list and had it on my hand. But, I was so overwhelmed by the car. I didn't check a single thing.
May 15, 2016
vandacca I think that's pretty typical for most people...

May 16, 2016
EV-lutioin That's why I am going to give the list to my son, so he can check everything while I am temporarily brain dead from excitement

May 17, 2016
WilliamZ Just be aware, your son maybe more excited than you are

May 17, 2016
EV-lutioin Good point! I just noticed your "Double vision issue present" statement in your footer and since my VIN is close to yours (mine is 29xx) I am concerned my X will have the same problem. From recent posts, it sounds like the later VINs do not have this issue. Have you contacted Tesla about the double vision issue and if so, have they offered a remedy?
May 17, 2016
WilliamZ They told me that they "are aware of the concern and working with supplier to resolve it." And they "will replace my windshield when available." I told them that this is not a concern for me but rather a safety issue.
May 17, 2016
EV-lutioin Rats, I thought they had already solved this problem. I guess we will just have to trust they will figure it out and replace the windshields when they do. Imagine having to replace thousands of the largest windshields on Earth.... sigh... not good for the bottom line
May 17, 2016
ohmman Potentially the bottom line of the supplier, though. Also, not everyone has/sees the problem. As far as it being a safety issue, I imagine it's considerably less dangerous from a visibility standpoint than driving in a light drizzle.
May 17, 2016
SSD420 I saved the checklist, but I know I'll be like you.. The check list will the be the last thing on my mind when I get to pick up my beloved MX.
Glancing over that checklist, I think if you really went through every point, you'd never leave and get to drive your band new Tesla Model X
May 17, 2016
ohmman I didn't use the Model X checklist at delivery, but when I took delivery of my Model S a couple of years ago, I took the then-circulating Model S delivery checklist and trimmed it way down to something manageable. I took that with me to delivery and it was easier to get through and feel like I'd "done something" with my forum knowledge. Of course, it passed with flying colors and still does every day.
May 18, 2016
WilliamZ As you said it, "I imagine" it's "less dangerous" in comparison to "light drizzle". Imagination is one thing. A safety issue is a safety issue. No other way around it.
May 18, 2016
ohmman So you imagine it's a safety issue. Fair enough.
May 18, 2016
WilliamZ I am not imagining. It is a not an imagination. It is happening, it is a fact, and it is unsafe.
May 18, 2016
ohmman I agree it's happening. I am not suggesting you're imagining the effect. Whether or not it's a safety issue is debatable, and you are trying to suggest that it's not. That is the core of our disagreement.
May 18, 2016
EV-lutioin Picking up my MX on Saturday.... is there a Tesla walkthrough video for the Model X? All I could find on the Tesla website was a somewhat dated Model S walkthrough video.
May 18, 2016
WilliamZ Tesla website has everything on S, but not X. They don't care.
May 20, 2016
EV-lutioin
It sounds like you are upset with Tesla, which is understandable, but what I love most about this forum is members focus on supporting each other in finding ways to solve problems and communicate with Tesla during this amazing period of growth and innovation.
May 21, 2016
WilliamZ Tesla is having some growing pains. I get it. However, at the same time, customer care and customer service should not be sacrificed. For example, I was having a phone conversation with a Tesla customer rep on last Friday afternoon 5/19/2016. The rep told me if I keep interrupting her, then she cannot go on and finish the conversation. I was shocked. I asked if she was suggestion that I as a customer was interrupting her as a customer service representative. She gave a clear and short reply: "YES". I was totally shocked by her response. For the record, I was peacefully asking nicely about the technical questions. For the record, she knew what she did was wrong. Another rep called in 20 mins later to apologize. The point is, there is only so much I am waiting to sacrifice as a Tesla customer. No pain, no gain. Let Tesla know their issues and make them grow. About three months ago, I had point out to Tesla that their site need to be updated to reflect the newly add Model X. Guess what? None had heard, none had change, none cared!
p.s. Look around this site, members are asking and searching for information that should be released by Tesla. It shows Tesla is not giving out enough update or product information to its own customers. Do they care, obviously, no.
May 22, 2016
ohmman Is it possible they care but are very ineffective at communication?
Believe me, I have had plenty to say about Tesla's communication quality. However, you seem to draw rapid conclusions between cause and effect that I can't see.
May 22, 2016
WilliamZ People see things differently. I respect that.
Jun 5, 2016
VABarb I have taken all of the data from the checklists and put it on an excel spread sheet. There were several duplications which I consolidated. I also assigned a group (Interior/exterior..etc) and a type (FWD, windshield, seats 2nd row..etc) and then sorted the items by group. Being slightly OCDcould not stand the random order of the items listed
I thought it would be more efficient to try to check all items in an area one time. Hopefully it also helps eliminate duplicates when someone adds a new item.
For new members to the forum I also explained that the data is taken from many entries on the forum and is not officially validated. It is a helpful tool created by members. It in no way is meant to represent the condition of all model x's and in fact many X's are delivered with little or no problems (not all X owners contribute to forum also).
All of the real work was done by others on this thread that created the original lists... my contribution was only organization and not content. I appreciate all of the efforts to document and help us when taking delivery of our X's... can't wait.
Attached excel spread sheet and PDF version. I didn't know how to upload a spread sheet so I changed the extension to PDF and uploaded. You can download, rename to xls extension and it should open with excel.

SMSMD Thank you for your time and excellent work..I had done one for myself but it can't beat yours...very well organised..big thanks for allowing others to download and share it among Tesla members.

Jun 7, 2016
SMSMD Couple of things I had noted down were:
? Vanity Mirror lights not working - Remember Happy wife happy Life
? Blue tape still stuck in crevices of the exterior of car - annoying but not a big deal
? Open your front doors and check if there is a gap between the small and larger window. The larger window should be resting on the rubber seal next to the small window. If there is a gap, even though it tightens when the door is closed, that could add to the wind noise. If all is good, then look at the glass alignment when the doors and windows are closed. Is the wind flowing across the glass surfaces where the glass is aligned in an aerodynamic manner? The top inch is on the outside (actually pocketed) of the glass but the rest of the rubber should be under the glass.
? Check Seat belts function & Broken Visor .
? Metallic Tesla T/cover on Mobile Charger cable (reported missing on recent cars)
Jun 7, 2016
VABarb Are your referring to the long metal plate on both connection ends of the charger - that has tesla spelled out on it? That's what mine looks like...
I'm adding your items and want to make sure the info is correct.
thx

VABarb Thx @SMSMD - also changed link in checklist copies above...
Jun 18, 2016
Sean So Lowe You would think that Tesla might see these common issues and look for these things at the factory and or service center? Then have them repaired or fixed prior to deliver to the customer. Obviously Tesla reads the forums and sees these posts. Or do you think they try to over look these issues and hope we don't see them?
Jun 22, 2016
DuplexDianne Thanks for doing this!!! I was not able to load the smaller file for some reason...Are you able to?? Can you please re-post?
Jun 22, 2016
F123456 I just downloaded the smaller file, renamed from PDF to XLS, and it opened just fine.
Jun 22, 2016
DuplexDianne I just tried again..my computer says it cannot open the file. Then did what you did...thanks. Guess that's if you want to add anything to the list...it's the same list, right?
Jun 22, 2016
F123456 Yes, same list. I wanted to add line numbers to the items to check, and to remove that which was not applicable to my car (no towing package, no P upgrade).
Jun 22, 2016
F123456
What are the referenced air tubes that I'm looking for? (- Check under the carpet cover in the rear trunk if the air tubes are fully positioned across the width of the trunk and did not slide together in shipment.) Pick up is tomorrow evening!
Jun 22, 2016
Mark Z Look at this at your leisure if you desire. If the two tubes have moved together, you can easily move them further apart to close the foam seal at the ends of the tubes towards the center. This may no longer be an issue.
Have fun at delivery and concentrate on physical paint/metal/fabric/leather/glass defects that would eventually be normal wear and tear. Like a rental car, you don't want Tesla to find the defects later during service and assume you have dented the paint or scratched a wheel. If something doesn't work, that would be repaired if found later. A paint scratch? You want to find that at delivery and get it on a punch list.
Jun 23, 2016
F123456 Thank you for your reply, and yes; goal is to note anything that could otherwise be blamed on us as having occurred post delivery!
Jun 27, 2016
ssq Thanks all you lovely folks for putting this together. I am rushing for delivery today and printed out the checklist, hopefully my DS will go over most items with me. I feel like college days, sudden pop quiz and I have not prepared well, and going to improvise from all the lectures I have attended diligently (i.e. participating in TMC and learning). Please wish me luck for an uneventful and pleasant delivery. Thanks again!
Jun 27, 2016
Mark Z Tesla has made many improvements since the original lists. Look for scratches or other blemishes in the best light possible. Good luck, enjoy the experience and your new Tesla Electric Vehicle! Take some photos to remember the day!
Jun 27, 2016
ssq Everything is good except hood panel non uniform gap, passenger side fwd vertical sealing alignment and rear roof applique alignment. I am having a but of trouble figuring out summon, don't know how to activate it from within the car (app not linked to car yet), also one of the second row seats won't move forward+down and only slides forward on using the side mounted button. I am clicking it once quickly and not pressing and holding.. it was working at the SC as expected..
Jun 27, 2016
Mark Z I tried summon once in a parking lot to test it. Haven't used it again.
The service center should take care of all the problems you mentioned. Check another vehicle if necessary to determine the difference. My Tesla Service Center has done amazing things to solve some serious early problems that no one sees anymore. Since the technicians work the assembly line as part of their training, they know how the vehicle is put together.
Check the difference between your left and right side 2nd row operation to check how it should operate. That has helped when one side isn't the same. Above all, enjoy your Model X.
Jun 28, 2016
ssq Thanks Mark. I did a reset to fix the issue, and again when the issue showed up a second time... Ctrl+Alt+Del whenever there is an issue
On the other second row seat, I have a car seat latched in and facing backwards. When the seat is moved from the side-button or the touchscreen it wont stop and literally crush the front seat-back. For now I have bunched up some microfiber cloth and put it on the car seat headrest to avoid badly damaging the seat back. I tried testing the resistance-pressure at which the seat would stop moving on detecting obstruction.. but it almost crushed my palm and I had to stop it immediately. So unless the car seats are facing forwards, that FWD side access to third row or even to the center area is impossible. I am also on a learning curve with the touchscreen controls and fumbling a bit with opening and closing doors to load/unload passengers

Jun 28, 2016
Mark Z Can you have your passengers use the other side so the car seat can be left alone in a preset position?
Hopefully others who use car seats can comment or suggest the right thread to discuss the topic.
The Buena Park Service Center had extra car seats to explain placement during training sessions. Perhaps you can give your SC a call.
Jul 8, 2016
SSD420 I want to thank everyone who contributed to the Model X checklist. Yes, I printed it (2 copies). I tried to go through all 8 pages, but unfortunately some of items couldn't be tested at Tesla.
It appears although my FWD are lined up properly. They don't look like any of the pics I've seen posted on TMC. My auto rain detect wipers do not work. Occasionally my drivers door does not present itself, but I can hear it trying.
The FWD are f*cking SEXY! I've had so many "Tesla moments" tonight that I cannot count. I've allowed 4 stranger to sit in my car.
Although I was adamant that only I could smoke in my car. NO ONE, not even me will. No food. No drink except takeout or groceries that will be put in the frunk only.
I'm at a loss for words guys. I can't believe I finally own a Tesla Model X.
Thank you to everyone at TMC for the support and especially my gf for literally forcing me to test drive a MS 3 years ago. I'm amazed by every aspect of this car and I'm still learning even the basics.
The 50 times I've read through the tesla manual on mytesla prior to today, was nearly no help, as I forgot everything while star struck sitting in my MX at the SC. I had to turn off auto present drivers door because it just kept opening and closing whenever I got close or stepped back.
I need to gather my thoughts, eat something, get some rest and I'll post pics on a few threads as well as Instagram and Facebook.
And to those who wondered, my MVPA said the car had 100km. It actually only had 18km.
Thanks everyone again!

Jul 10, 2016
ksquared I also wanted to express thanks here for the effort put into the checklist. I read it carefully, and brought it on an iPad to the delivery. While I would have liked to say I systematically went through every line, what really happened is that I used it as a general guide, and was generally too excited to stick to the script.
I'll post a better description of my delivery experience in the July thread, but in a nutshell, the car looked great. I did see a noticeable difference in the way the FWD lined up on the driver's side (slightly above the line of the front door and rear, as evidenced by the line of chrome trim and the door handles). Although I didn't report anything else at the SC, I have since noticed some odd front door behavior at times (e.g., doors opening halfway instead of completely even when no object is present). I also didn't do things like check tire pressures or test a USB stick at delivery. Notably, this is the first time I've signed for a new car at delivery without taking a brief drive first, which was a little odd, but the car drove flawlessly on the way home (and the several unnecessary errands I've run since yesterday).
Commuting to work tomorrow, and will look forward to putting the car through its paces (including lots of stop and go traffic).
Thanks to all for their effort to keep me as focused as possible on delivery.
Jul 12, 2016
MajorCuddles I just wanted to say thanks to the team that built this doc. It's got me so excited for September! I love the sense of community here.
For those that found significant issues, do you just gain a commitment to resolve the issues or just reschedule the acceptance of the Model X until all issues are resolved?
Jul 12, 2016
SSD420 You report it on the spot. If it's minor they fix it on the spot, otherwise they contact you with a service appointment.
Jul 14, 2016
Leo Laporte Much appreciated. I take delivery next week at the factory. This will be extremely helpful.
Jul 14, 2016
vandacca Are you going to work that into one of your shows and put it on video?
Jul 15, 2016
SSD420 My SC called me on Wednesday to come in any time before 4pm on Thursday to deal with a few minor issues I've been having. Learned while asking a question about the FWD that i actually had an issue. They installed an update for me right then and there, installed it as soon as I got home and voil.. Problems solved.
I will be going through the rest of the checklist that is missed during delivery this week. My SC has actually been amazing since I took delivery. I've never been treated as well as I have been by any other car manufacturer. Im beyond elated with everyone I encountered today at my SC.
Jul 19, 2016
UnitaryExecutive Thoughts on leaving the checklist at home and just enjoying delivery? I can always look at the items when I get home and call them after, correct?
Jul 19, 2016
SSD420 review the checklist in advance...Highlight very important items, and check them before you sign for delivery. Then check the rest at home!
Jul 20, 2016
jason1466 I saw the same warning message while opening in Excel. To avoid this warning, the file should be changed to .XLSX (new excel format) instead of .XLS (legacy format).
Jul 21, 2016
jsollender Beyond the checklist, any other suggestions on items to look over at delivery? I have my USB drive with FLAC files, my insurance card, my 500 gram bag full of loose diamonds, my unwanted children, etc....
Jul 21, 2016
SSD420 Stubborn glue or tape stuck to your windshield and any gunk stuck under your spoiler?
Jul 24, 2016
Sugacookie I tried to search and I couldn't locate a checklist specific to the MS. Does one exist? If so could you please direct me where to find it.
Thanks
Jul 25, 2016
Nick123 Congratulations !!!. I was wondering , can you send me that checklist? I will be getting my X in August.
Thanks.
Jul 25, 2016
kennybroh What bit rate are your FLAC files? How do they sound?
Jul 25, 2016
jsollender First, I do not have UHFS. So on ordinary stereo playing my best digital FLAC of Steely Dan Aja at 16 bit, 1411 kbps for Bit Rate, and not being an audiofile, the sound is crisp and clean, no cut-offs and no over base response. All I can say is it is pleasing, but not as filling as listening with a great pair of headphones. I can't place the instruments in 3-D space from the car's stereo where I can with my Bose noise cancelling headphones. Hope that helps.
Jul 25, 2016
tomtx37 Could someone please upload a latest/updated delivery checklist for model 'X'? Thanks.

Aug 2, 2016
UnitaryExecutive They were great - super apologetic, grabbed our car and our DS was helping to detail and clean the car before going over it with us.

UnitaryExecutive Ya, I was a little worried that our car didn't actually arrive and we wouldn't be able to take delivery, but luckily that wasn't the case.

DynoDino I am picking mine up on 18th. I had an idea to create an actual checklist using OneNote...which is ready to posted.
I'll try to post tomorrow. I just reviewed tonight and it looks good to me.
OneNote has checkboxes that you can check off as you go.

tomtx37 Just picked up my 75D yesterday. Found many issues with the July-2016 production. Most of them are covered in the above checklist. However, below are additional items that we found during delivery/inspection.
1) Front side Skid Plate (make sure and bend under the front hood to check this item)
2) Several dirty spots on UW leather, especially seat buckle latch
3) 7-seater vehicle with the 2nd row bench - middle seat side-trims were very dirty and had a different type of material. Very obvious contrast, but easy to overlook during delivery.
4) This item is covered in the checklist, but look out for FIT issues. They are all over the vehicle, since several components of MX are hand assembled.

Solarman004 Thanks @tomtx37 I am picking up tomorrow. Could you please provide more detail on the skid plate issue?
Aug 16, 2016
tomtx37 Skid plate is located below the the Frunk. We found scratches on it. Tesla will replace it with new one.

Oceanwolf My delivery is coming up on 9/17. I live close to Fremont and work only a mile or two away. What if I take the delivery and enjoy it, then check it out at home. Is it required to get the issues on the delivery list?
Sep 3, 2016
tomtx37 Yes it is important you inspect your vehicle prior to tendering payment. What if there are scratches/dents and most importantly unfit issues, which are lot for MX. All these items need to be put on 'Due Bill' and signed off by both you and Tesla DS, so that it can be corrected and remain documented. Check wheel alignment as well, as mine was off. Another thing I discovered on a hwy driving over 80MPH, the passenger side front small window is lose and makes a noise which you will not discover during delivery, unless you take it on highway and test it while radio is shut. Now after driving for 3 weeks, many issues are discovered with the sensors in general, specifically, FWD. They are big pain. Doors do not open all the way up even though there are no objects around them. It doesn't happen all the time, but unfortunately happens when you don't expect that to happen. Another issue I discovered is, dead big screen when turning on the vehicle, as I had to soft restart three times within two days. Hope this helps.

Oceanwolf It just tells me that you got a lemon. But thanks for the warning.

mikevbf I am about to purchase an essentially new Model X Vin 179xx from Minnesota. The Model X is very far from where I live and they are going to direct ship it to my house. As part of due diligence on such an expensive vehicle, I have reached out to a TMC member in the area to quality check my Model X. As it is not his vehicle, I do not expect him to put the time and attention into the check if it were his car. As such, what items do you think essential for me to ask him to check from the list?

guest takin delivery in nov when current lease up, i've seen mentioned to check wheel alignment, do you ask for them to put on lift? how exactly are you checking??

guest Conventional driving...take a test drive before signing off the vehicle. I would go on city streets and highway while listening for squaks, road noise, window noise and drive and feel of vehicle with opening FWD at least 5 to 6 times in different set up. All these testing while radio and AC is completely off. FWD sensors are a major issue, while sometimes you may experience rear trunk not opening all the way. My wheel alignment was off and now SC has fixed it as part of a DUE BILL items, which is a promise bill from tesla to fix those items at a later date. I would look for fit and finish very carefully, as 50% of MX is hand assembled. MX is super fun to drive and a big show off on the street. Hope this helps.

guest It does help. Does DS go with you on test drive? Can they say no?
Is fit finish and alignment main thing to look for?

guest Very valuable points.
Headed to pick up my MX on Tuesday. My DS says 1 hr. for the entire process (I am not sure how to run through all the various checklist items in that short a timespan - not sure if a test drive is even possible!)
How did you test alignment?
1/1/2015
guest Don't rush through, even if DS says 1 hour. There is NO way, you can finish it in one hour, unless you are so excited like many Tesla owners are when they see their dream car delivered and overlook many items had they spent little more time. 7-seater Ultra White Seat owners need to pay extra attention for lot of dirt on seat buckles and 2nd row center seat trims on both sides. My suggestion is to take extra hands with you while they inspect FF issues (under/over/In/out) while you are going over vehicle's mechanical/electrical operation. Send me private message with your email address and i will send you check list that i had prepared for me with before and after experience.

guest Hi @tomtx37 ! I'm set to pick up my 75D on Tuesday at the Dallas Service Center!
I'd love to hear how you (or anyone else) approach doing a robust inspection while also keeping a good rapport with the team that's going to have to fix any issues that you find. (I've also got white seats :-O )
Should I expect my Delivery Specialist to be open and invite me to do a thorough inspection and have my list of issues? The DS's emails about delivery day have all been about him giving me a tour of the vehicle and teaching me how to safely use it... No real discussion about inspection or a chance to identify any final issues....

guest Hi @ MajorCuddles: I had put $5K deposit 3 years ago without seeing a demo vehicle. All Tesla showed me was a single picture of a strange looking SUV with falcon wing doors spread out on its website, where I made an online payment. So when vehicle was finally delivered to me, why would I accept it without thoroughly checking and testing the vehicle? I remembered we spent more time in selecting a $5 movie rental at the Blockbuster stores than sometimes inspecting big ticket items.
I believe, it goes without saying that one must inspect their products before accepting it. The DS is correct in his assertion about making you the most satisfied user of his product, though he hasnt denied nor discouraged you to inspect the vehicle. My suggestion to you is, take couple of people with you. So while you are learning the operation of MX, they can be thoroughly inspecting the fits and finishes of the vehicles inside/outside. And when visual inspection/operation of the vehicle is completely done at the showroom, then take the vehicle for a test drive for street and highway experience. I would suggest not to sign off or tender payment until you have done a through road test. Basically, taking a Tesla delivery is not any different than buying a vehicle off the dealers lot.
I would admit that DS hadnt expected so much inspection time from us and at one point, I felt like we were being rushed through the delivery. So to avoid that, I would send an email with my clear expectations and ask him or her to allow at least 2 to 3 hours for the entire episode. I know it may sound crazy to some, but I dont spend $115K so often. In conclusion, I MUST admit, that MX is a real head turner and a super fun to drive. Kudos to Elon and Tesla team.
..did you get a VIN ? Tesla is busy with the recall, fixing 3rd row seats , you will get a better vehicle. Only when you get the VIN your vehicle goes for production. Good luck
