dfdtruckie Has anyone seen one at the stores yet?
Nov 21, 2015
hobbes
I guess theyll ship them and later reveal them all at once (at least thats how I would be doing it).
There was one instagram pic showing a white X in a store setting posted here, but the picture was removed from instagram later. From the info on the thread it was not a real store but a mock-up in the Palo-Alto HQ and an employee posted it.
Nov 21, 2015
anticitizen13.7 I asked today and the rep at the store said he was told to expect a demo car in January.
Nov 21, 2015
bonnie They need to maximize X deliveries by EOY - makes sense that cars produced for stores would be after that.
Nov 21, 2015
FlatSix911 The local delivery specialist said they expect a demo before year end ...
Nov 21, 2015
ratsbew I really hope they have them soon. I need to see one in person ASAP.
Nov 21, 2015
Cobra Kai Rep at the Scottsdale AZ showroom said they were told that they would get a showroom X in January. They have not dispensed much information about the X when prodded, I so I will take the January remark with a grain of salt. Hope it happens, but my expectations are low.
Nov 21, 2015
ModelX Bellevue, WA said they are hoping/planning for January.
Dec 1, 2015
mikevbf Rep at the Boston showroom said Jon McNeill's founder Model X would be in the showroom for viewing within the next month.
Dec 1, 2015
timf Has anyone heard if they plan to have samples of the Ultra White seats or Ash trim options in stores now that production reservations are configuring?
Dec 1, 2015
mikevbf when I talked to the rep, I specifically asked if they had a sample of the white synthetic leather. He said they did. I am not sure if this is true in all showrooms so you should call ahead to see if yours does.
Dec 1, 2015
Kbra I was told hopefully this December by my closest SC.
Dec 3, 2015
paulkva A couple weeks ago, one of the techs at the Tysons VA service center / showroom told me they were hoping to have an X in the showroom in early 2016.
Dec 3, 2015
MrBoylan The ISR I spoke to said "end of year." He didn't say which year. Also, same ISR didn't know the white seats were not leather until I told him they were not leather.
I'm ready to finalize design without seeing (another) one since I was at the reveal, and I'm obsessed. My wife, on the other hand...
Dec 3, 2015
ptsagcy My DS and Sales Rep both said January at the earliest for a showroom demo.
Dec 3, 2015
MikeL "By the end of the year" is the word from my store. They also said "a few" sigs will be delivered there by year end. - on this one ...
dont quote me. :frown: ML
Dec 3, 2015
gjunky IMO, I doubt it will be this year. Any X they can produce they will use against the 2016 production count and/or delivery count. Early January sounds more likely though.
Dec 4, 2015
mikevbf Unless a founder volunteers to show their Model X like Jon McNeill in Boston
Dec 7, 2015
Jack_L Has he offered that? If so I would love to see it over at the Dedham store as that's all I'm waiting for before I press the configure button...
Dec 7, 2015
TSLAX Me too Jack_L!!! Even though I have configured and confirmed. I would love the chance to see an X!
Dec 7, 2015
Zaxxon I asked at my local gallery on Saturday and got a refreshingly honest answer... Paraphrasing, "we'd love to have one or two out back for reservation-holder test drives, but it could be a Christmas present or a Valentine's Day present. We'll know shortly before they arrive."
Dec 7, 2015
trigoe Was told today in person at a tesla showroom in NorCal: "not before Jan 10 and not later than March 10".
Dec 7, 2015
goneskiian Pretty much the word I got from both corporate and my local store today over the phone. First quarter it is.
Dec 8, 2015
Jack_L You are braver than I am! Also, I don't think I will be getting the performance model (and likely getting the 5 seater) so I'm already at a 6+/- month wait anyway.
Dec 8, 2015
Sasmania I just got the same info today...so they are sticking to the story

Dec 8, 2015
TSLAX I am in the same boat as you are Jack_L. A 5 seater and X90D. So, I am going to have to wait as well. I have been waiting over three years for this car. I never looked back after putting a deposit down. I wanted to configure/confirm ASAP in case it helps me get the car sooner. I needed a new car 2 years ago. My brother has a 2012 model S and still loves it. He raves about Tesla service center out in southern Ca. We love our 2015 model S and I believe the model X will be everything I was hoping for!

Dec 8, 2015
Zaxxon As I mentioned in the production configuration thread, I contacted the buildmyx email address listed in the configuration invite email to ask the mothership directly since the galleries are giving wildly divergent answers.
I heard back from Inside Sales today on my request for an estimate of when I should reasonably expect a test drive. The answer:
"We are currently expecting to have Model X in most US showrooms by the end of this year. I encourage you to contact your local showroom in the next week or two to see if they have an accurate timeline of when they will be receiving one!"
Make of that what you will.
Dec 9, 2015
Ralph K Just recently invited to the design studio (660x) and working on my config. I received a text from my Tesla rep still trying to sell me a pre-owned Model S. Texted back as to when he thinks I would be able to test drive an X and his reply was SPRING!
I really need to check a few options out before I place an order. Not sure I can wait much longer...will test drive a Volvo XC 90 and see how this compares. I could get the ICE version with auto pilot and all the bells and whistles for half the price and with gas under $2 I might make the move. This would seem like Blaspheme if I were to cancel my order and go with Volvo since I'm using my Tesla stock profits to purchase the car!!!
It's been a long 25 months waiting for my X and now it looks like another 6 to 8 before I get my car...
"You need the Patient of an Iceberg" when dealing with Tesla.
Dec 9, 2015
gjunky How long does it take to get an answer on an email? Sent one two days ago to the email address in the invite to configure E-mail. No response yet. I know they are very busy. Just curious to their average response time. I know I can always call too.
Dec 9, 2015
Zaxxon I heard back in about 24 hours. Of course my question (timing to showrooms) would have been an easy one.
Jan 16, 2016
Raven Has anyone heard any updates on Model X in their local showroom? The Scottsdale store told me March (this was said just before Christmas).
Jan 16, 2016
Zaxxon Denver today told me Feb or March.
Jan 16, 2016
bignikku I just got back from the Fremont Factory and they said, about two months for the X to be in showrooms which seems to be inline with what others are hearing.
Jan 16, 2016
neisner12 Santana Row (closest to factory) said they were told Q1, which they equated with March 31st at 11:55pm.
Jan 16, 2016
mikeash I happened to ask somebody at Tysons (Northern Virginia) yesterday and they said "in the next month."
Jan 16, 2016
Zaxxon FWIW, these estimates are basically darts at a board. They'll arrive when they arrive, and that's when they'll arrive. No one at the stores or the X support email in Fremont seem to actually know anything. That, or they delight in giving out incorrect info for the past three months.
Jan 16, 2016
wasmithorg I was told by Stanford store that they would have them in the next two weeks. There is to be an email blast to those with confirmed orders.
Jan 16, 2016
Vizir Are there any X's sitting around the Denver Service Center? Possibly, for delivery or pre delivery checks?
Jan 17, 2016
bsbomber I spotted 4 Model X's on a car hauler at Primm, NV on Wed. the 13th. The driver told me they were all headed to Denver. One sig red, two whites and a blue. I am sure they are at the Denver SC being prepped for delivery.
Jan 17, 2016
Zaxxon I haven't been there in awhile.
Jan 17, 2016
777dgt I think mine is the blue one. Delivering Tuesday.
Jan 17, 2016
Zapped There was white Model X at the Service Center in Cathedral City, waiting for delivery.
That used to be the Store location until it was moved to El Paseo last October.
Jan 19, 2016
dutchinchicago I phoned the Chicago West-Grand dealer today and they said that it would be three to four months before they would get a model X.
Jan 20, 2016
jsollender I snooped around the prep center (Old Safeway at Leetsdale and Quebec) at 8 AM today. Other than a plywood covered front door and blacked out front windows, I did spy a red X being prepped inside. Could not see far enough to know anymore than someone in Denver is soon to get there P90D soon. Wish it were me, but I'm a lowly 90D, no P, and no joy till "mid-2016" whatever that means. If the next owner of any X in Denver would be kind enough to PM me, I'd love to just physically look at the vehicle. I still can't believe it is longer and wider than my Lexus LX470...
Jan 20, 2016
bikeandsail The local, Lyndhurst Ohio, center told me there would be a traveling X in the near future for test drives. They also said they expect to have one in the center for showing sometime in February.
They said they would call me once they have one in the center for viewing / drives.

Fallenone Asked the San Diego store last Tuesday and was told late Feb/early March is their guesstimate.
Jan 20, 2016
Usatyke Bellevue WA didn't know anything, in fact they were a little terse and off hand with their reply. Not the kind of customer service I have come to expect. Certainly not in the same league as the Bellevue service center, those guys are fantastic. Maybe the sales team could learn a thing or two from the service center.

CTemp222 Where did you find that schedule?
Jan 25, 2016
MorrisonHiker That schedule shows up when you click on the link to RSVP for the Model X City Tour.
Jan 25, 2016
CTemp222 ah thanks!
Jan 27, 2016
Reeler I saw the Signature Red car too after your tip and some snooping. Good chance that is my FbR car. My delivery window used to say late December through January, but now it is blank.
Jan 27, 2016
andrewket You had an official delivery window? I was verbally told "January", and possibly the first week after New Years. Still waiting. I don't think a window ever showed on mytesla, though.
Jan 29, 2016
SabrToothSqrl when it says "current" reservation holders... does that mean if I put in mine, say next week, I can't go to the test drive event?
I think I'll love the X, but I'm not all about spending 90k on a car I haven't driven... I'm kinda of funny that way I guess.
Jan 29, 2016
Reeler I did have a window, but it has disappeared now since Tesla has blown through that window. I talked with my DS and the car is in final inspection at the factory and will be in there for an indeterminate period of time. He will know once they arrange shipping. He thinks mid-February at the earliest.
Contrast that with the Model S I ordered in mid-December 2015 that was built, shipped and delivered in 10 days.
Feb 9, 2016
Merrill Any new info on when the showrooms might get a Model X.
Feb 9, 2016
Zaxxon Given that the X tour won't complete for another month, I don't expect them in stores for awhile yet. Would love to be wrong, though.
Feb 10, 2016
mikevbf From the share holder letter:
"Last week, we kicked off our Model X test drive tour for our reservation holders. We are making more Model X vehicles available at our stores for viewing and test drives in the weeks to come."
Do you think the second sentence refers to the Model X for the tour or Model X being made in addition to the Model X on the tour for the showrooms?
Feb 10, 2016
CTemp222 sounds like it.
Feb 10, 2016
mikevbf Sounds like which?
Feb 10, 2016
CTemp222 That they will start to give X's to showrooms
Feb 10, 2016
mikevbf The fun part of decoding this statement is translating "in the weeks to come." from conventional time keeping to Tesla Time. 3 weeks, 7weeks, 15 weeks 25 weeks, 50 weeks?
Feb 11, 2016
FlasherZ If it's anything like the S, it's "both". They'll run a few tours (more than the ones they have today) to a bunch of different stores as test drive events. Then, they'll start building the demo cars that go to individual stores for demonstration and test drive purposes.
Feb 11, 2016
FlatSix911 I visited the Rocklin SC on Monday evening and noticed a Model X behind a curtain in the showroom.
Not certain if this was a road show car or a staff training vehicle?
Feb 15, 2016
Merrill Anyone here the latest on when we might see a Model X in the showrooms.
Feb 15, 2016
Johann Koeber It will be very important to have a model X at the showroom on March 31.
People will be at the showrooms for Model 3 reservations. Would give them exposure to the Model X WOW-Effect, even if that is not what they came for.
Feb 15, 2016
vandacca Model 3 reservations begin on April 1st, 2016, I assume on-line only. I'm not aware of being able to make a reservation from a showroom (unless you use their computers to login to your account and perform the reservations).
However, Tesla is still trying to down-sell the Model-X (in favour of the Model-S) since any new reservation will be delivered 12 months from now. I'm not sure when Tesla will begin to try and sell the Model-X, but it won't be in the next few months.

Feb 15, 2016
vandacca Oops. Sorry. I saw the tweet, but missed the "in store" part of it. Thanks for correcting my mistake.
Feb 15, 2016
drewmcmanus Oh! I might have to drive up there to see it. Is it just in the showroom? Do you happen to remember what interior color it was?
Feb 15, 2016
Redshift It is with their test drive cars, not in the showroom proper. The interior is black leather, black headliner, dark ash trim, seven seats, fully loaded.
Feb 16, 2016
drewmcmanus Alright. Cool. Does anyone know if I can I just show up and ask to see it? Or do I need an appointment or something?
Feb 16, 2016
jsollender hows about someone pick off the vin number and post it for all to see?
Feb 20, 2016
paulkva For what it's worth, I was at the Tysons VA service center today, and they expect to wait another 2-3 months before they get a Model X in their showroom.
Feb 20, 2016
andrewket That's a problem since they have X events scheduled there starting March 11. :/
Feb 20, 2016
Monkey The X's for the event are traveling around to the event locations, they don't bring in X's to stay at the showrooms. That probably won't happen until they get through most of the current backlog of orders.
Feb 20, 2016
paulkva I imagine whatever demo vehicles they have for the events will leave after the events are over, and any long-term-showroom-resident X will come later.
I also imagine anyone who wasn't invited / doesn't have a time scheduled, won't be able to spend much time with the X in March during the events.
I'm not complaining, just speculating. While I'd love to see the X in person and tinker with the controls, I'm not in any rush to do so and I have no plans to reserve or buy one.
Feb 21, 2016
andrewket True. I didn't realize Paul was making that distinction. Carry on...

heytae The Santana Row store in San Jose, CA has a white MX on the showroom floor as well as a white P90DL with 6 white seats also for test drives. I was there last Sunday and was lucky enough to schedule a demo drive for the following morning. Afterwards, we finalized our order for a June delivery...yes, the drive was the "closer." =) They said that those with reservations are getting priority on scheduling the drives (makes sense since we've been waiting longer).
Jeremy there at the store is great!

Apr 30, 2016
loganthefirst Here is the silver MX they have outside for test driving. When we were leaving the mall later that afternoon, there was also a blue MX available for test drives. So 1 white showroom model with doors and windows locked into a specific positions and then a blue and silver available for test drives.
Apr 30, 2016
onesixeight I heard Bellevue has a test drive car now and I did drive the blue one down at Westlake a few days ago. From what I heard, both test drive cars are 90D, not P models.
The blue car is a 6 seat configuration. The right FWD has a pretty bad rattle and the brakes squealed at every stop! But they are offering test drives to reservation holders.
Apr 30, 2016
ilovemycoffee They told me last weekend, it would be another month. I'll need to find an excuse for a trip to Portland!

MikeL Our guys in SLC have a red one that was on its way to somewhere but delivery got cancelled. I was told they are trying to get HQ to let them keep it for their tester, but it will probably get sold instead.

May 6, 2016
Scrith One interesting note...the Model X in the showroom in Palo Alto is now in "showroom mode" which prevents opening and closing the falcon wing doors. The sales rep there said this was done at the request of headquarters to save wear and tear on them (they probably opened and closed 10-25 times a day in the showroom), but doesn't bode well for the long-term viability of those doors, I think.

mikevbf The Prudential showroom in Boston had a 7 seat Model X on their floor and a 6 seat Model X for test drives last weekend when I visited. Although the test drive vehicle is a very early founders model that they plan to replace soon.
May 7, 2016
Reeler Wonder why they have a Founders Edition. Perhaps they are getting those back under the lemon laws. Our FbR was built around the beginning of the year, delivered three months later after rework, used for about a week between various service center visits and held at the service for about a month now waiting for parts.
My wife loves the car, but I expect to start seeing those early cars showing up as CPO cars after a buyback.
May 8, 2016
Amoroso6 Raleigh NC got theirs last week. I've got an appointment to test it tomorrow.
May 8, 2016
JCB_Arizona Scottsdale (Phoenix), AZ has one. It is available only for test drives for those with car deposits currently. But with a little prodding, they'll let you explore the one they have without a car reservation--which is what I'll have to do. I really need to sit in one before I go further.
May 8, 2016
Reeler Denver has a Model X and a gen 1 Model S in their Park Meadows mall location.
May 9, 2016
Amoroso6 So I just came back from the Raleigh NC store and test drove the X. Dam what a car, now keep in mind this is my first drive in an Ev and it was amazing. the 90D with 4.8 seconds 0-60 is more than enough for me auto pilot is great and for me the breaking is great. By the time I was back to the dealer you could just about drive and not hit the break pedal much at all. The only problem that i have is now im growing impatient about getting mine. I want it now....
May 9, 2016
Poiuy09 Buena Park and Brea in SoCal has X on display and are doing test drives with appointment. Stopped by Buena Park SC over the weekend and they were nice enough to allow me to do a test drive without an appointment. First time seeing/touching an X and first time driving a Tesla. I was blown away by it and now I am looking forward for my X to be delivered.
May 9, 2016
Jurnimon I might have mentioned elsewhere that Dedham, MA gave me a testdrive of the Model X a few weeks ago and they have a couple of "fleet vehicles" they use for this purpose.
Something else to note, I stopped by the Paramus, NJ Supercharger on my way south. The chargers are on the lot of a Tesla dealership. This lot is filled to the brim with Teslas, including sevral Model X's that appeared to all be sold. I was able to see the Blue/White and the Grey/White right next to each other. The non PUP thus non-vented Ultra White seats look great!
May 31, 2016
trigoe Finally, the Corte Madera Tesla store has X's. One on the floor, one to drive (by appointment only, and only for reservation holders if I understood his cryptic delivery). I am a reservation holder, but I have to be honest, I'm unsure now. An underwhelming experience. The doors locked in the up position is a big mistake. Fine, so customers can't close them, no problem but the sales dude should be able to demo in the showroom under his control and supervision. They wouldn't even do that! Everyone I overheard was whispering "They're hiding something".
I'll take a drive to do due diligence but I'm now looking harder at an S or maybe even waiting for a 3. Sales dude says if I ordered now, I'd get it in July. Take from that what you will, but that's pretty fast considering what it once was.
PS: both models at the store are 7 seaters, frustratingly, because I'm only interested in the 6. The full block 2nd row adds to the claustrophobic feeling of the 3rd row, and I'm sure it's better with the open space with the 6 seat config. AT least I hope so. But the fact that the 2nd row doesn't fold flat when you need space is a bummer.
May 31, 2016
ModelX My parents were nervous during the initial tour as the SC didn't let anyone touch things and had issues. They love their X and haven't had any issues! You might want to do the test drive!
May 31, 2016
systemcrashed You really should make an appointment and test drive the Model X, there is nothing to "hide", the car is like nothing else. Definitely not for everyone , but an amazing vehicle nonetheless.
Also, same ISR didn't know the white seats were not leather until I told him they were not leather.
