artsci When I test drove the Model S a few weeks ago I paid no attention to the floor mats. But based on my experience with many other cars, this seems to be one area where things tend to be done on the cheap. I've frequently bought Lloyd's mats to replace the OEM mats. I hope this won't be necessary on the Model S, but just in case I emailed Lloyd's today to inquire if they plan to make Model S mats. No reply as yet.
Here's a link to the Lloyd's web page on their top-of-the-line Luxe mats, which I've found to be of extraordinary quality.

artsci This is the reply I received today from Llyod's:
"We should have the pattern for this vehicle within the next couple of weeks."

W.Petefish At the very last stop of the Get Amped Tour, the mats were still looking good.
Sep 26, 2012
artsci Just received an email message from Lloyds:
We now have the Tesla Model S pattern. You may contact a Lloyd retailer
to place your order.
I doing a test drive at the DC store on Sunday, so I'll be checking out the stock mats very carefully: backing, pile depth, thickness of weave, etc. to determine if the Lloyd's are better quality.
Also just requested a sample of the various color choices. There nine colors.
Sep 30, 2012
artsci I visited the Washington DC store today for a second test drive, this in the 85 kWh non-performance version. I've posted another thread on the driving experience as well as photos of the interior on the interior photo thread, but the purpose of this thread is to comment on the interior mats/carpets. As the other photos posted have not shown the mats/carpets up close, I thought it would be good to take some close ups while I was shooting the interior.
As the photos illustrate, the mats/carpets are pretty much standard manufacturer's stuff: decent but not top quality worthy of a luxury car. The pile is not very deep and the weave is rather coarse. Here are a few photos.
![]()
![]()
Regrettably, most luxury cars have carpet/mats of this rather ordinary quality. These are not adequate for me, so I'll be getting a set of Lloyd's Luxe mats, which in my experience are the best of the after-market carpets available. Lloyd's has 12 different color choices for the Luxe version , so I've asked them to send me samples. As soon as they arrive, I'll visit a Tesla store and photograph them in the interior and post the photos here, so all can see how they match the interior and make their own choices.
Some others on this thread have suggest using rubber mats available from a number of manufacturers. Not for me. IMHO, the rubber mats are more appropriate for an SUV or soothing like a Honda Element. But not for a luxury car. I've installed the Lloyd's Luxe mats in all of my cars and they hold up quite well in snow and other inclement weather when lots of gunk are dragged into the car by shoes and boots. The Lloyd's clean up like new all the time, most likely because they're treated to prevent stains and to enable easy cleaning.
More when I get the Lloyd's samples, probably this week.
Sep 30, 2012
contaygious Thanks artsci! That would be helpful.
Sep 30, 2012
AnOutsider I find this interesting. We've got rubber mats in our A6, Q5 and R8 because none of us care enough to constantly wipe feet and such for carpet. If you say these mats can hold up though, I'd be interested in trying them.
Sep 30, 2012
Lloyd Does Tesla intall 'hooks' to prevent the mats from sliding?
Edit: I have no financial interest whatsoever in the Mat Company!
Sep 30, 2012
artsci Actually, there were no mats in the car, only the carpet that lines the floor and side panels. None in the front and none in the rear. I looked for hooks, but there were none that I could find. Maybe there are mats that had been removed for test drives, but I didn't ask. But judging what I saw of the quality of the other carpeting, if the mats were missing they're probably not made at a higher level of quality. Perhaps others can check this out when they do test drives.
Sep 30, 2012
dsm363 No hooks that I see. The car does come with mats but you install them on delivery (they were in the trunk I believe).
Sep 30, 2012
artsci I live in Maryland, and we do get some heavy snow, rain, and other testy stuff during the winter. The Lloyds clean up quite well. The wear is negligible, even thought they don't have a heel pad, because the pile is so high and tightly woven. Perhaps the thickness of the weave keeps all of the gunk on the surface, where it's easy to clean up. But my experience with them has been great. They're not inexpensive: I think complete set they sell for the Model S would total over $500.
Sep 30, 2012
dmetcalf I think you'll have very different responses to this question based on lifestyle, location and preference. I just got my S and searched high and low for something functional for my rather messy family of four (baseball, soccer, beach, outside activities constantly). We need rubber mats (ours came with two front black carpet mats on the black carpet with Velcro on the bottom, no Tesla indictia). I looked at many and decided to go down the Walmart aisle while looking for a console organizer and saw some tan KRACO raised rubber mats with raised borders for mud, sand, etc. the color matches my tan leather exactly. Note it is less orange than the demo models... It has a big label in red that says "best" on it. Hope this helps some of you that need the functionality of an active family.
Sep 30, 2012
jerry33 It used to be that accelerator pedals were hinged on the floor and drivers were expected to insure the mats were properly located before they started driving and during driving as well. I'm guessing it will be a good day when all the driving responsibility is taken away from the driver and the occupants of a car will all be passengers.
Sep 30, 2012
ChadS On my car (VIN 112, delivered 2 days ago) the front mats have velcro on the back to keep them in place. (There are no mats elsewhere.)
Oct 1, 2012
artsci It's clear now that the mats were not in either the car I test drove or the demo model on the store floor, so I don't want to have made an unfair judgment about something I didn't see or inspect. What's your impression of the mat quality (pile depth, tightness of weave, quality of backing, etc.).
Oct 1, 2012
Jaff I'd be interested as well artsci...I've never seen any non-rubber mat that didn't leak water from slush & snow through to the base level of the main carpet...

AnOutsider I have those in my R8. Not a big fan because they don't have the "walls" on the side, but they do the job. As an FYI, although it's a 2012, you have to choose 2013 to get to Tesla. Here are the options:

gg_got_a_tesla Nice! Well priced, I'd say.
Btw, what's that big rectangular piece in the "2 Pc Front w/1 Pc 2nd Seat Car Mat" choice? For the front passenger-side? If so, why is it not shaped appropriately like in the "2 Pc Front Mats" choice?

I don't think you'd need the rubber mats. If you concerned about some of that Texas dirt, Lloyd's makes a custom fit clear protector that fits over the Luxe mats: Protector | Lloyd Mats
Oct 2, 2012
artsci Received the Luxe color samples from Lloyd's today. I'll photograph them in a Model S as soon as my next store visit, which will be the Menlo Park store on October 18 when I'm next in California.

ChadS Here is a picture of the passenger footwell with no mat (I vacuumed first; the black really shows dirt):

And here it is with Tesla's mat:
![]()
The upside is that it's velcro'd down nicely, matches the interior very well, and looks pretty good. Let's take it out of the car and have a peek:
![]()
Hmm. It is surprisingly light and fairly thin; while it's a lot better than the original mat that came with the Roadster, it is not as nice as the one that they started shipping around Jan 2011. I could be wrong, but I don't have a lot of confidence that it will wear well. Here's a shot where you can see the edge:
![]()
And here's the back with the velcro:
![]()
Given that these are pretty thin, and there are no mats for the rear seats or cargo area, I will probably go shopping soon (thanks to those that have already posted links).

Oct 5, 2012
Babylonfive I got in touch with one of my favorite suppliers of custom mats, WeatherTech.
They said that their custom mats will soon be available for Model S - if you go to this link, there is a request form to be emailed when that product is ready.
![]()
I am not connected with them, but I like their products.
Oct 5, 2012
ChadS Yeah, I was hoping for that too. I asked the owner experience team, and they said that was just a styling exercise; it is not and will not be a standard feature. It might be an option in the future.
Incidentally, I asked about a dozen items (creep, hill-hold, Wifi, voice control, sunglass cubby, memory settings, door handle auto-extend, smartphone app, programmable charging, notification of charging end, etc) and all of them are coming and will be available for free to existing owners. The trim in the center console was the only thing they said wasn't coming. So we have plenty of good stuff to look forward to!
Oct 5, 2012
cinergi FWIW my delivery specialist told me they're working on additional mat options (e.g. rubber mats).
Oct 5, 2012
dmetcalf In the meantime for mats, I found some rubber mats from KRACO at Walmart that match my tan leather exactly and offset all the black carpet pretty well until weathertight and others are available.
Thanks for the info Chad S. All of these features would be welcomed. I got my first SW update a couple nights ago. I wish I knew exactly what was in it, but they evidently tweaked the charging algorithms and the handle extension now seems to require a touch to the drivers handle first (probably for safety of others jumping in first). Did anyone else notice anything else different?
Oct 6, 2012
mknox I love and use these WeatherTech mats in winter myself. I know a couple of others (and I) completed the request form a while back, so I'm glad to see they've listened!
Because they are like a pan, they are the only mats I've found that prevent the snow and dirt from simply running off the side of the mat and on to the carpet.
Oct 9, 2012
kevincwelch Agreed. Have used them in the past winters here. They work very well. I filled out the request form a while back as well.
While we're on the subject, I've never driven a car with a metal "gas" pedal or brake pedal. Does anyone think with wet boots these might be slippery during the winter?
Oct 10, 2012
Jaff The Roadster's pedals are metal...never had a problem in the previous two winters as long as I was wearing proper outdoor footwear.
Oct 13, 2012
contaygious Any update on this? Hoping to see black mats with tan interior. I don't see tesla on the distribution sites yet.
Oct 13, 2012
artsci I'm taking the Luxe samples with me on a business trip to the Bay Area next week. I'll visit the Menlo Park store next Thursday and I'll take photos against all of the leather colors. I'll post the photos as soon as I can.
Also, if you check some of the online sites listed on the Lloyd's web site, you can order the mats now. Follow this link: http://www.ultimateautoaccessories.com/Brand/Lloyd/Heavyweight.htm#hw. It's one of the sites that's taking orders. When you see the diagrams of the mats for the Tesla, don't be scared off by the inaccuracy of the drawings -- they're generic. If you want the full set, you'd order 2 Pc Front w/1 Pc 2nd Seat Car Mat, Standard Trunk Mat $199.00, and Small Deck Mat $123.00 (but not if you have or are planning to order the rear facing child seats).
Based on the samples and the photos posted here of the stock mats, the Lloyd's have a much deeper and dense pile. And as I'll be ordering a blue Model S with tan seats/interior the navy blue Luxe color looks very appealing. One of the several shades of tan available may also work, but I'd be concerned about dirt on that color.
Hope that helps.
Oct 13, 2012
contaygious Thanks are they adding the tesla logo?
Oct 13, 2012
artsci It's not available yet, probably because they need Tesla to give Lloyd's the IP rights to use it. That may delay it's availability quite a bit, as when lawyers get involved everything gets unnecessarily complicated (if on retainer, the more hours the lawyers spend on a task the more they get paid). If Tesla has in-house counsel, that might help speed things up.
I'm assuming availability of the logo might take 6-12 months, if ever, so when I get my car and mats I'm taking the latter to the local EmbroidMe shop to have them embroider the logo on the front mats (in red, of course). If an individual owner uses the logo on his own car and stuff, that's not a violation of Tesla's IP.
Oct 13, 2012
Robert.Boston All of the Tesla interiors use black carpet, so I'd be strongly inclined to use black mats (rubber or carpet).
Oct 13, 2012
smorgasbord What's the "small deck?"
With the Standard Trunk Mat, how do you get into the hidden well? I would think you'd have to lift the whole mat to get access to the lift handle, right?
Oct 14, 2012
spatterso911 The Lloyd mats look great. I think we have a winner for the Luxury mat. Still wanna see what Tesla brings to the party though.
Oct 14, 2012
artsci I've emailed my contact at Lloyd's (the person who sent me the samples) to answer these questions. I've also given them a link to this thread so Lloyd's can see the questions and post answers. I've also told them that the drawings on the web sites of vendors appear to be generic and certainly don't match the spaces in the Model S. When they reply to my email, if they answers the questions I'll post them.
I'm assuming the small deck mat is for the frunk, but it could be a separate cover for the hidden well. But guesses aren't good when we're spending that kind of money, and the information Lloyd's and its vendors supply does not make this clear.
Oct 14, 2012
RDruz I didn't want to wait so I purchased the all-vehicle Weathertech mats - front and rear. They are designed to be cut to size to fit any auto. They fit very well and I didn't cut them at all (although one could cut a bit of the corner of the driver's side mat out to uncover the left foot rest - I did not find that necessary). I think these mats are going to be great. When Weathertech makes the custom mats for the Model S I hope that the rear mats are larger than the generic mats. In fact, since there is no hump, it would be very cool if they made a single mat to cover the entire floor from door to door in the back.
Oct 15, 2012
artsci Lloyd's responded to my email today and answered the questions we've raised about the Luxe mats for the Model S.
1. As we suspected, the drawings of the mats shown on vendors web sites are generic mat shapes and don't represent the actual shapes of the Model S mats.
2. What Lloyd's calls the "small deck" mat fits over the hidden well in the rear of the Model S (this is the floor in front of the rear jump seats when the jump seat become available from Tesla).
3. Frunk: Lloyd's will have the frunk mat listed on its website within 48 hours and its vendors will begin selling it then.
4. The hidden well is covered by the Lloyd standard trunk mat for the rear deck. You have to lift or roll back the mat gain access to the hidden well.
Hope that helps.
Oct 15, 2012
Babylonfive I think I'll be inclined to try the rubber mat from WeatherTech or others, then put the carpet mat on that. All the protection but you can't tell?
David
Oct 15, 2012
artsci My concern would be the thickness of the WeatherTech and the Lloyd's mats on top. Sudden acceleration?
Oct 15, 2012
Babylonfive I have to noodle on that... the thickness would be minimal, but it might slide around... hmmm
Oct 18, 2012
artsci I shot some photos of the Lloyd's mat color samples today in the Menlo Park store.
The first two photos show two tan colors against the tan leather seat sample. As the photos show, #066 is an excellent match.
![]()
![]()
This photo shows the dark blue color (#30) against the same sample. Depending on the look you want, this could be a good choice, especially in a blue car.
![]()
The next two photos show the gray, blue, and black colors against the gray leather. Some interesting choices here.
![]()
![]()
This photo shows the gray and tan sample against the stock front driver's side mat. You can see that the Lloyd's pile is much thicker and dense. The gray is a very good match for the stock mat color.
![]()
The final photo shows the same sample on the driver's seat. Again, an excellent match for the tan.
![]()
The question for me is do I put tan mats in my car (blue with tan interior, carbon fiber)? I think so, but my concern is whether the tan will show dirt too easily.
Oct 18, 2012
contaygious Thanks artsci! I always do black mats with tan interiors so they don't get dirty plus I like the contrast. How does the black look with it? Should I stick with grey to match the floor better?
Oct 18, 2012
mknox It might work. In my current car I use factory carpet mats in summer, but in winter have the WeatherTech "pan" mats with a regular rubber mat on top. No problem with pedal clearances.
Oct 18, 2012
artsci I think the gray works better. Lloyd's calls that color Ebony and it's #018.
Oct 22, 2012
ChadS I ordered Lloyd's Ultimats (1 level down from the Luxe; same backing and waterproof layer, but the pile is not as dense or long; significantly lighter and cheaper) before Artsci posted his pics. I was just picking based on monitor colors, but for front and rear-seat mats, I chose the same color he did to go with the existing carpet (artsci calls it gray; Lloyd calls it Ebony; #018 for Luxe, 118 for Ultimat). I ordered them from autoanything.com; they had a decent price and free shipping, and I'd used them before. They arrived today.
They are definitely more substantial than the factory mats, though not real heavyweights (look to Luxe for that). They are lighter in color than the stock mats. Which is fine by me; that lightens the interior a bit, and hides the dirt a little better. It is not so much lighter that it is distracting, at least not to me. It is not as much lighter as it appears in the photo below; the Ultimat reflects light better (and looks very different depending on the angle and lighting). Lloyd's Ultimat on the left, Tesla mat on the right; both are for the passenger seat:
![]()
Here is how it looks next to the black leather:
![]()
Here is it under the driver's feet:
![]()
And in the rear seat:
![]()
Here's a close-up in the rear seat that helps show that the "darkness" of the mats depends a lot on lighting:
![]()
For the cargo area, I ordered Lloyd's Velourtex mats, which are cheaper yet - but still have the same backing. I got those in black (color 960) assuming it would be closer match to the existing carpet; I was less interested in lightening things up or hiding dirt back there. It's still not a perfect match - and still lighter than the factory carpet. But pretty close. Here it is in the cargo area; a great color match if you get the right angle:
![]()
But not quite as good from other angles:
![]()
Note that it covers the lower cargo area. I also bought a mat for down there; I'm less happy with that, as it doesn't cover much (to be fair to them, it's kind of curvy and hard to tell exactly where floor ends and walls begin):

Oct 22, 2012
artsci I'm very pleased you posted these photos ChadS as I was not sure about the shapes and coverage area of the front mats. They cover more than I had assumed. I've ordered at set of the Luxe mats and am now discussing with the vendor the possibility of embroidering the Tesla logo in red on the front mats. I sent them a file of the logo and am waiting to hear back.
Oct 22, 2012
kevincwelch ChadS-
Was this the portal?
Oct 22, 2012
ChadS Yup! Just tell them you have a 2013 (I know, but that's how they have it) Model S, then pick the type of mat you want, then color, etc...
Oct 22, 2012
Kipernicus Chad these two look quite different to me - could you comment on the fit?
1. Left side of Tesla mat is straight, but Lloyd's mat has a bit of a curve
2. Upper left corner of Tesla mat has a corner cut out, but Lloyd's does not
3. Right side notch of Tesla mat looks more like a right angle than the Lloyd's
4. Lloyd's mat has anchor holes. Do they come with anchor points that you have to mount in the floor of the car somehow?
Oct 22, 2012
ChadS Here's a picture showing the fit of the passenger mat. I think the Lloyd's fits better than Tesla's.
![]()
The Lloyd's mats include some hooks that you can screw in to the car's carpeting to hold their mats in place.
Oct 22, 2012
Kipernicus Thanks, good to know. I'll probably get a set myself. Haven't decided yet on carpet (ultimat or luxe) or rubber mats. My son's preschool has sand in the playground and no matter how much I shake out those shoes there's always sand in my car!
Oct 22, 2012
contaygious Thx for the pics! I'm also deciding between lux and ultimate. I'd rather not have the holes and just use Velcro though.
The pics make it look more grey then I thought it would be. Was hoping to match the carpet better.

My delivery specialist told me the only thing missing from my order was my HPC adapter. If they're going to ship us more stuff because they couldn't get it all together on time, that's great, but please tell us before we waste time and money fixing it.
I also bought and started cutting material for a frunk mat. I guess that money and effort is wasted too.
Oct 23, 2012
artsci Just heard from the Lloyd's mat dealer. The can't embroider the Tesla logo on the Luxe mats -- too thick they say. But now that Tesla says it will be supplying high quality mats with the logo, perhaps we have a better solution.

kevincwelch Tesla communication blunder. How strange...
Oct 24, 2012
JakeP Oh boy, we had better start the nickel-and-diming thread again immediately...before Tesla is even allowed to formally announce their plans for floor mats!
Oct 24, 2012
contaygious I'd pay for tesla ones if they are nice. Seems like the color is hard to match. Although every car I ever bought came with free ones as part of the deal; even the fancy upgraded ones.
Oct 24, 2012
kevincwelch Maybe it is just I, but I suppose one has to be a real afficianado to care significantly about floor mats. Dust bunnies would annoy me, but I really would not feel compelled to buy Tesla branded floor mats since my dirty shoes will be all over them. If the ones coming with the Model S are really "that bad," I'll probably go with some simple ones from Lloyds. Additionally, I'll probably get some for winter as well, but I've done this with other cars so I consider it an independent purchase.
- - - Updated - - -
Can't imaging this would be any fun if we waited for pricing!
Oct 25, 2012
DrComputer Ok, my rep got back to me with the final word....and it's not good news. The mats that the car is coming with now are the "free" mats that everyone will get. Tesla will offer logo'd plush mats at an additional charge soon. So I guess if we don't want to wait or pay whatever "up charge" Tesla wants to offer, the existing Lloyds option will be best. I guess the only good part is that they never charged us for the crappy mats that we do get.

rogbmw Rubber Floor Mats
Will Tesla, or someone, offer rubber floor mats for the S? In most of my cars, I remove the front carpet mats and place good looking rubber mats. This has been true of every car I have purchased since the 1980s. It just seems that with all the stuff one has to walk through in parking lots, a good looking rubber mat makes sense. I am sure they are not for everyone, but they sure are easy to keep clean and neat. My current 2011 BMW has BMW rubber mats which are custom made for the car and easy to keep clean.
Sorry - just saw this discussed here: http://www.teslamotorsclub.com/showthread.php/10190-Will-after-market-mats-be-necessary-or-will-the-Tesla-mats-be-up-to-snuff

brianman I wish they would post stuff like this on the blog.
Let me elaborate that a bit.
I'm not talking about a big hurrah blog post telling us everything they're willing to tell us about everything that week. I'm talking about more like an RSS feed style blog (or, like, mass email to reservation holders) where little tidbits of "ok now it's ready for the public to consume" sprinkle out periodically. One of the reasons I visit TMC is to here tidbits like this, but a lot of "normal" customers don't here any word of this. I'd prefer to see it in official Tesla mail rather than via a casual post on the forum.
All that said, a hearty thanks for sharing the info!

NigelM I have nice front carpets (no Tesla logos), but was told that there are no additional carpets for the rear seats. As DrC, I was also informed that there is apparently an all-weather accessory option (which includes rear seats) that is in development (no timeline).

Jrhodesmd I just ordered the Lloyd's ultimats in black, will post what I think of them once they get here in about a week.

brianman I tried a few of the links listed but no luck on two-tone. I was thinking black with burgundy trim might be interesting. Assuming the burgundy was subtle.

Stig Yay! My first post on TMC - No more lurking! I ordered a set of Lloyd - Ultimat for the cabin area and a set of Lloyd - Classic Loops for the Frunk/Trunk (for a little durability - without rubberizing).
I tried to get creative and put a standard red band around the mats for the inside cabin, in hopes it would match the red trim of the seats of my Sig/Perf - but the red Lloyd uses is RED!!! Like a Ferrari red. I don't care for it, but I thought since I got some ideas from pics here on TMC, I'll post one for others' reference. (sorry for quality - from my phone)

As for the trunk - it's good, but the fitment on the front half is not exact - but will do. (You can really tell at the top left; and a little off on the right)

JakeP Wow the fitment on the trunk piece is not at all good, but the red trim actually looks fantastic, at least in the photo!

contaygious I'm really starting to miss Georgia rugmasters who went out of business. The edges were super clean and they fit my fx perfectly.
I might get the tan lloyds, but have to think about it more.

NielsChr please keep posting pictures, every picture gives new information in regard of color and fitment.
Anyone know if loyds matts can be ordered without the 2 anchor holes.
Jan 5, 2013
bbmertz My trunk mat from Lloyds fits exactly the same as shown above, although it doesn't bother me much since the black mats match very closely with the black carpet in my MS. Lloyds' front interior mats are much higher quality than the standard mats included with the MS, since they are thicker and lie flat (as opposed to the standard MS mats which are difficult to uncurl since they are delivered in a tight roll).

hans Got my Lloyds Ultimats (front and rear). Already pickup up a water spill in the back. Kids and no cup holders in the back is not a great design.

ThortsMD Can some one take photos of the light tan mats against the dark flooring? How does that look, especially with tan leather?
Jan 25, 2013
JakeP Apologies for the poor quality and garage lighting, but here are some Lloyds Ultimats in Parchment (660). Note that this does *NOT* match the tan leather as well as the Lloyds Luxe Mats Parchment (066) does, at least according to Artsci's sample comparison. Pics of his mats can be found here, though they aren't installed yet, since he switched from Pacific Blue to 2013 Red:
Lloyd's mats have arrived: photos
If ordering Ultimats from Lloyds, call them and ask them which color is the best match for the Luxe Parchment 066. Other than the color mismatch, I am happy with these. I will be replacing them with all-weather mats as soon as they become available. Though I do like how the tan carpet mimics the two-tone aspects of the rest of the interior.

ThortsMD Thanks so much, JakeP! That helps me make my decision.

Monsoon I apologize for the grainy iPhone photo. Our mats from Lloyds (autoanything.com) arrived today. Surprisingly, no evil smell.
Uncharastically, my frugal wife suggested we ordered the Lloyds Luxe (most expensive) for the interior cabin areas, and order the Lloyds Ultimats (mid-range) for the cargo areas. So, being a wise man, I agreed.
They arrived today, and I have to say, the quality is top-notch. The (lower-cost) Ultimats won't disappoint anyone.
We ordered black (not ebony or charcoal) and yes, they are black.
So, all interior areas with Lloyds Luxe, and all cargo areas with Lloyds Ultimats, total cost, $425.60. The black color on both styles is an identical match.
We have a 6-year-old, so we had to do something for the middle row floor.

Sousaphil Looks great Monsoon!
I'll be very interested to compare the Lloyd's Ultimat to the Luxe in person (hopefully at Mark's event).
I ordered the Ultimat just for the passenger areas. I figure that was the most pressing with delivery happening this week.
I'm sure I won't be able to resist getting the cargo mats as well.

rcc Something to think about for the cargo mats: I decided to get a footwell mat and not get the big cargo mat and I think that's working out.
Reason is I like to use the footwell area for groceries or other stuff that might tip over. I think a propane tank will fit in the well too.
The footwell has its own cover though so I use the well as a small trunk while I wait for the parcel shelf. People can't see what's in it and it's easier to get to than the frunk.
The only thing I might switch is getting an Ultimat instead of the rubber for the footwell.
Feb 3, 2013
stetsoninc Thanks for the advice and photos. I bought the same interior mats and trunk mat as you recommended. I did not get a frunk mat as we will rarely use that storage. I also ordered HEXOMAT rubber mats for the front only. If Telsa comes out with logo-ed rubber mats I may order a set of those. I cancelled my order from Telsa for interior mats as they were over priced plus had expensive shipping charges of $68 + NYS tax. Where the shipping from Auto Anything was free and no NYS tax. Will report back on the HEXOMATs after we get them.

Monsoon @Sousaphil
Yes, we'll see you at MarkR's gathering tomorrow (2/9/2013). We can't wait to see your car -- the color combo sounds very cool. And your pano roof, I want to make a bet on AZ summer sun, heat-gain, and interior temperatures...
Regarding floor mats, I actually over-bought (Lloyds, see pic above). In hindsight, you need a better set of front mats, and a matching set of back-seat mats. The way my car arrived, I really didn't need a better-quality fronk mat, trunk mat, or under-trunk mat. Phoenix isn't snow and ice country -- just dust. I could have solved the floor mat issue for about half of what I purchased. (Welcome to being an early adopter.)

Sousaphil I hear ya about the frunk; I was surprised to find a mat there. But the huge trunk definitely looks nice with a big, thick mat. I'm very happy I ended up getting the interior matts. The Tesla stock mat was folding over on itself after only a day. The Lloyd's Ultimats are nice and thick, no folding yet. I'm also very happy with the large back seat mat. Without that, I may not have offered any rides without handing out disposable booties

Elshout My front mats curled up and looked really tacky. To solve the curl problem, I rolled up the mats against the curl, taped it in this rolled up position, and then the following day the mats would lie flat. A cheap fix.

digitaltim I posted a few pics of Cocomats installed in my MSP here: OMG: digitaltims delivery story
Feb 9, 2013
scooterrr There have been a couple of posts on this and some of the other threads that the Lloyd's mat for the cargo hold isn't fitting correctly. Since I'm going to have the rear jump seats and two kids overly excited about sitting there, I really do want a mat that fits (and is highly durable - might even do rubber there).
Does anyone have a recommendation? Perhaps I read the earlier posts incorrectly?
- - - Updated - - -
I can't seem to edit my own post yet - so I'm talking about the footwell, not the full trunk mat - though I've seen that neither of them are fitting right, seems like the footwell is far worse.
Feb 16, 2013
stetsoninc We very much like the HEXOMAT rubber mats and highly recommend them

Has anyone tried screwing in the hooks that come with the Llyod mats?

AnOutsider Links? Pic?
*edit* never mind, looks the same as the Lloyd's rubbertite
Feb 20, 2013
andrewket I just received the shipment confirmation for Tesla's Trunk Set (2 pieces). The rest of the mats arrived a few weeks ago.
Feb 23, 2013
DriverOne For the front seats I could only manage to install the 2 outer hooks. I don't think the Ultimat is really much of an upgrade over the mats supplied by Tesla, so I'd skip the front seat Lloyds if doing this again.
I'd love to see a photo of the hexomats installed - they look pretty ugly from the small thumbnails, but I imagine are better once laid out in the car.
