Neuromancer Hi everyone, I never post on any forum... Anywhere. Only the the fevered longing for my Tesla (confirmed Tuesday), and the accompanying psychotic/obsessive reading, has lured me from my lurking. I feel a visceral need for connection and commiseration to anesthetisize the pining in my chest.
I'm 45 years old... I should be better than this. How can I be debilitatingly obsessed with a car? Am I six years old looking under the Christmas tree? It's unseemly.
Alas, all I could think of was to ask for feedback as I contemplate a name for my soon arrival.
Pearl white, black interior 75D, loaded with everything except rear facing seats and air suspension.
I normally prefer ominous and manly appellations, but pearl white doesn't seem to invite this.
How about: ArcAngel?
Dumb? Inspired? Effeminate? Clever?
I can't believe I just typed this post. What the @&&$ is happening to me?
May 20, 2016
Joules Verne I feel where you're coming from. A tesla will do that to you. It's a technological marvel.
The day I drove it, I knew I was doomed.
No other car ever looked the same to me. ICE died that day.
It makes you do irrational things, like spend $100k on a car.
But when it's the only choice, what's a guy to do
Welcome to the forum!
May 20, 2016
Btrflyl8e You're ME 3 years ago! Except I was 48. And I'm a girl.
Now I'm doing it again. Like once wasn't terrible/awesome enough!
It will be excruciating, trust me. The first time around I actually had to start taking melatonin to try and sleep. So far this time, I'm OK... But delivery is supposed to be sometime next week so it's building. It wouldn't be so bad had I not sold my previous Model S back on March 21! I've been driving a friend's sweet 2000 Jetta. For two months. After driving a Tesla for 3 years. ACK, I need the melatonin now!
You will be so thrilled once you get your car, you'll forget a bit about this painful waiting!
May 20, 2016
H2OU My wife has a Model X on order and is obsessed with the whole process, production status, etc. I have never seen her so excited about a car! My suggestion would be to just enjoy feeling like that kid on Christmas as few things are as exciting as getting a new Tesla!
May 20, 2016
ICE FREE I feel your pain as well. I am 44 and my 70D is scheduled for delivery June-early July.
I only had trouble sleeping the first week and it's gotten better, but the obsession is still intense. I refresh MyTesla page 3 times-a-day to see if it's actually in production yet, I listen to a bunch of Tesla podcasts, read the forums rabbidly and yet I am still no closer to delivery.
Funnily, I am no stranger to obsession and intellectually I know that while this car is awesome, my life will still be the same after I get the car, but this deal is purely emotional.
Yeah, it's an electric car, and it's good for the environment for me to not use gas, and it will save me a few bucks in fuel, and it's good for American jobs and lots of little green men....
But it's all emotional and the sad thing is, I have to keep my excitement under a lid because I'm ashamed of people knowing how crazy I am
But hey, at least you guys and gals understand me!!!!
Hang tight and hopefully we will be able to sleep soundly again soon, because we'll need it as our Model 3's are at least a year-and-a-half away and we'll probably lose sleep over that one too.
May 20, 2016
Btrflyl8e Ah, but your life will NOT be the same after you get the car...
May 20, 2016
Bonlaw It doesn't stop. I am on my third Tesla S purchase and I am again obsessed. It happens each time. I am a girl and I am 66 years old.
Can't ever be too old to get excited!
May 20, 2016
STbreaker After looking at various sporty/luxury sedans, I'm buying this because it's the only one that makes me feel like what you're describing. The BMW dealership looked at me kinda crazy when I wasn't blown away by a fully loaded 550. Don't get me wrong, it was a sweet car, but it didn't leave me buzzing for days like the Model S. Basically my wife was like, "you won't stop talking about the Tesla. This is not a difficult decision..."
And if you're only refreshing 3 times a day, you're doing better than me.
May 20, 2016
Electricfan I'm 56 and on my second S. I've sworn not to buy another until AP 2.0 comes out though, but my eyes have started twitching lately, unexplainedly....
May 20, 2016
ICE FREE Glad to know that I'm in good company... And sad to hear that it doesn't get better the next time, because I already know that there will a next time. M3!
May 20, 2016
Lon12 "ICE died that day" I love it! Someone should write a song about that.

May 20, 2016
Hugh Mannity Right there with ya too. Makes no sense to spend 100 grand on a vehicle. Well that's what I used to think........
May 20, 2016
30seconds I think Wintermute may be appropriate for you
May 21, 2016
Neuromancer Thank you! It is oddly therapeutic to share my plight with others who have known the same affliction.
I'm definitely refreshing more like 10-15 times a day. Pitiful.
My mistake was taking the overnight test drive on my morning commute the next day. I spend 2 to 2 1/2 hours a DAY in bumper to bumper freeway traffic. My experience with the S driving me to work was nothing short of religious.
In a jaded age of wonder's loss, it was a magical experience reminding me of the untainted dreams of youth.
May 21, 2016
Btrflyl8e I was already driving an incredible Tesla, when the same happened to me. Loaner overnight with autopilot for my commute home and back. My commute is just a little less than yours, but not by much. It was all over...
May 21, 2016
ModelZ Welcome to the family! I see you're in TN...Come join us in the Tennessee Tesla Thread and, if you're interested, shoot me an e-mail at zak (at) tntesla.org and get in on the Tennessee Tesla Owners Club!
May 21, 2016
bonaire I think the OP just described the deep seated feeling that a woman gets when she sees the words "Sale!" and "Chocolate!"
May 21, 2016
Flyingdoc I had a deposit on a loaded BMW 550xi. Vehicle was in transit and delivery estimate was 2 weeks. I had test driven Audi A7, Porsche Panamera, and was wrapping up MB E350 lease. I liked the BMW but was just not that excited about it. I decided to go check out Tesla. I was given a MS 90D for overnight test drive. I cancelled the BMW order the next day. Lost my deposit but did not care. Now eagerly awaiting delivery of my 90D!
May 21, 2016
Neuromancer Way to go Flyingdoc! Sacrificing the deposit was totally irresponsible yet unquestionably correct. It is a simple choice between regretting something for a few moments now, or for the next several years.
It hit me this morning... I have likely purchased my last ICE vehicle. Strange to think of.
So far, the only name option offered was Wintermute (clever, 30seconds).
Name options so far for the loaded pearl white 75D living in Tennessee are:
ArcAngel
Wintermute

CliffG Simplify... Call it Winter and until Delivery Day you can tell everyone that Winter Is Coming...
(hey - you can always change the name when you get to know the car better)
May 21, 2016
TS14PCC I did a test drive a few weeks ago of a MS P90DL, I'm a M3 reservation holder but know my heart is with the MS, never having paid so much for a car I'm trying to find the right reason to commit to it but have remained sensible and decided to make my decision once we see the second instalment of the M3. Anyway, daft as it is I've already decided the name of what will be my white Tesla, I've had to tell myself it makes sense but being a bit of a Disney fan and twisting the meaning a little, I will be naming her Elsa, the Ice Queen. Obviously she's not an ice but she will reign over them :s I'm 42, male and I feel childish to be daydreaming about a car so much.
May 21, 2016
Vegas Oh No!. I'm 24 hours away from my first Model S, I thought things would settle down once my blue beauty (p90D) arrived tomorrow. Im 52, male and have had many high performance cars, BMW, Ferrari Maserati etc. Have never been so excited about a car in my life. Tesla takes you to the next level it seems and keeps you there.
Ive obsessively been talking to my family so much about it, they are now all pretending to be Russian and cant understand me. At least the dog listens.......if I chase her!
Damn Tesla!
May 21, 2016
ICE FREE Hi my name is Gabe and I'm a hopeless Tesla addict
May 21, 2016
Btrflyl8e Welcome, Gabe!
May 21, 2016
Bonlaw The delivery anxiety does go away but the obsession remains! Enjoy!
May 21, 2016
brianman Yes, you should have been here 4 years ago for the first S deliveries. Better late than never.Welcome!

May 21, 2016
NoPetrolDream At least the X and S buyers don't need to wait very long to have their Tesla dreams become real. Us Model 3 reservation holders: it's an exercise in patience, but such was the case for early S and X adopters, I'm certain.
May 21, 2016
Neuromancer Very nice... Winter is coming.
May 21, 2016
Alketi We're just about the same age, Neuromancer. I've reserved a Model 3, so my wait is 1 1/2 - 2 years. Don't feel bad!
To pass the time, I suggest you find an avatar for your account, one presumably based on the William Gibson novel?
And for the pure white car -- I can't think of a better name than Shadowfax!
May 21, 2016
Beryl I've never cared for luxury cars and only really owned one -- a Lexus -- that I would put in that category. I still am not impressed by them. (I take pride in not being prideful.) The Tesla, though clearly in the luxury category, is different. One test drive was all it took to hook me on the Model S after having a Model X reservation for almost a year. Other test drives (3 in total) was only to help decide on features.
Absolutely. Although it came with basic great features:
I seek after-market ways to improve on perfection. It can be as simple as hooks for dry cleaning, cosmetic like powder/painted wheels and wraps, to significant like dashcams and audio systems. I've never done this with other vehicles.
- Refueling in the privacy and safety of my garage
- Stress-free driving in the craziest traffic
- Enjoying media for hours in my climate-controlled car without running down my battery, running out of fuel, or dying from carbon monoxide poisoning.
Other vehicles were just for getting from point A to point B. I enjoy being in my Tesla before, during, and after the drive. I actually want to see the comeback of drive-in theaters.
Yes, I'm obsessed.
May 21, 2016
Neuromancer That is too funny Alketi!!! My first car was a black 69 Dodge Charger that I bought when I was 15. I called it Shadowfax even though the color was wrong (shadows are black, I rationalized). Perhaps it is time for me to redress that wrong...

CliffG umm, better than the Turing police finding out about you and Wintermute.... ;p
May 22, 2016
JeffC ICE is so last century*. EVs will replace them yet.
All that's needed is for battery costs to keep falling, which is inevitable, and Gigafactory is a big step in that direction.
Tesla has done EVs a great service by making an outstanding car that makes full use of the EV advantages, plus the software revolution. It's really the first modern car. (Mechanically, the EV1 is still more advanced than any Tesla, though the Model 3 almost approaches it.)
__
* Ironically EVs were among the first cars extant at the end of the 19th century. Brass Era car - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia They were smooth and quiet and easy to operate, but had limited range. ICE only really took off in mass market popularity when they got the electric starter motor. Back to the future?
May 22, 2016
JeffC Endeavoring not to succumb to hyperbole, Model S is simply one incredible car. Its combination of qualities is unprecedented. Literally. Looks, performance, technology, TORQUE!!!, handling, automation, smoothness, quiet, responsiveness, relative efficiency (for a large vehicle), free long distance travel.
It has a few weaknesses, but high quality design engineering overcomes many of them. It also has a few erroneous or questionable design decisions, but they're relatively minor compared to the outsized positives.
So no, your child-like enthusiasm is not misplaced.
May 22, 2016
graphic Hello guys, this is the only place i can come for solace...I too have just Ordered my first M3. I have been watching Tesla since MS, no big deal, that is until I test drove one here in Houston. I have a 2015 Honda Accord Sport (Don't even like it), it seems invisible. Cant wait for my car...I geek like a dope-fein on this forum, and teslarati.com...refresh,...refresh ...nothing new, 8 months to go!

rickrickrick I'll throw two out there for you:
Heaven
Rocky Top
My kids named mine Tabitha.
I'll never buy another ICE. We flew to visit family last week and rented a car, boy did I miss my Tesla and my autopilot. I felt so spoiled to return home. The lack of noise vs the rental ICE was the first thing I noticed.
May 23, 2016
JeffC After driving electric for so long, gas cars are a bit weird now, with all the noises, smells, vibrations, very uneven and laggy engine and transmission response, shifting gears, etc. Pretty sure which I like better.
The future is electric.
May 23, 2016
Piney999 It's good to hear I am not alone. This has been the hardest two months of my life. I think the model 3 wait will be just as bad/fun. I used to think I was only one this obsessed with cars, but after buying 3 new BMWs, nothing compares to this wait.

May 24, 2016
Joules Verne So to pass the time, as I wait for my baby to arrive, I've taken on a couple projects.
I'm remodeling my garage.
Mostly interior organization, some paint (tesla showroom colors of course, cabinets, channels and hooks.
Couple NEMA 14-50 outlets.
The most interesting thing is that I'm making a large Tesla sign to mount on the wall. That thing has been a process, more mental than anything else.
Also, Neuromancer, despite my avatar, I'm around your age. Should I be better than this? Im not really sure what that even means. What's better than this? YOLO, and fun in life is allowed
Note: my 13 year old son thinks I'm being a bit obsessive about the whole thing.
If you knew him, you'd understand the irony in that.
May 25, 2016
Neuromancer Good stuff Joules Verne.
I'm going to start the same remodeling and organization process for my garage to give me something to take my mind of the obsessive page refreshes.
Several great name suggestions in the thread. Thanks everyone.
Incidentally, today officially begins week two since I confirmed my order, and the angst of the wait continues to grow rather than subside.

owen.shift Hi Neuromancer,
How's the Supercharger situation around Tennessee?
Hint: supercharge.info

May 25, 2016
STbreaker I'm in the same situation as you and it's definitely getting worse. I've already started buying little accessories (washcloths, cleaning products, socket to take off front plate holder, etc)
Last night I was looking at pics of garage layouts so I could organize my own appropriately.
May 25, 2016
Neuromancer Pretty solid, thanks!
Do all cars ship with front plate holders, or does that vary by state? Can I request to not have one installed in the first place?
May 25, 2016
ModelZ Varies by state. TN does not require you to have one, and when you go to get your plates, they only give you one.
We have a decent SuC situation here in TN. There's one in Nashville (Brentwood, really...about 20m south), Chattanooga, and Knoxville. Soon, there will be one in Memphis and/or Jackson out to the west. Not too shabby. About 1.5 hours no matter which direction you travel.
May 25, 2016
TSLA Pilot You really should be able to get your deposit back. Ask them again, and if they balk ask them to advise you of who the GM is, along with their legal counsel.
You did NOT take delivery, and that BMW became a showroom or lot car available for sale to anyone else. They suffered no loss that justifies their keeping your deposit.
Start with BMWUSA.com, then escalate to BBB is they balk, and work your way up to an attorney's letter. They'll cave as they're just keeping your money for spite. (Plus you could use those funds for Tesla bling

May 25, 2016
AllChargedUp I may not be 45, but I'm 28 and I 1. Don't post on forums. 2. Don't necessarily get excited about things, but awaiting my delivery is something that I look forward to every day, and deciding to contribute to a forum.. that's something new, but I feel that contributing to this community is exciting as well. I have purchased a few high end vehicles, but decided that they don't do it for me, so I bought a truck, and said I would drive it until the wheels fall off. I started reading about Elon and Tesla a few years ago and contemplated the purchase. After two years of lurking and reading, I decided that I would go test drive a MS to see what it was all about. It wasn't but a few minutes into the drive that I was sure that I was going to purchase the car. That's my story, but now I wait until June to get my machine.

May 25, 2016
Piney999 Soooo.... What's the machine?
May 25, 2016

ksfrogman I am 56-years-old, and feel the same way. I don't think the fascination, the drive, hope, enthusiasm, obsession have to diminish with age. It's a misguided foregone conclusion that we will all some day resign ourselves to playing Bingo as a daily pastime. On the other hand, some of us will be glued to our hobbies and respective forums.

Kandiru Also 45yo also when I got my second hand S85D. After lurking the forum for two years I was not going to let a 6mo old victim of Ludicrous upgraditis fall into the wrong hands for 20k off MSRP, so I bought the car sight unseen and had it trucked to me across the entire country. Best decision ever, other than marrying my wife!!!
May 29, 2016
The Lorax You're not alone! It's been a long time since anyone built a car worth getting excited about. This kind of reaction shouldn't be all that surprising given that Tesla just reinvented what a car actually is.
May 31, 2016
Neuromancer The wait is killing me!!! Two weeks since confirming and I am conducting what is effectively a manual DDOS attack on the MyTesla page.
May 31, 2016
Btrflyl8e I wish I could tell you it gets better, but it only does at delivery.
Keep watching all the videos and reading the manual...
May 31, 2016
STbreaker Maybe you should take on a garage renovation. Will double as a clean up project and give your new Tesla a nice home. I'm not sure what kind of skills you have, but maybe you'll even make something cool others might want to buy! If you search the threads, a guy (in Belgium I think) made an awesome Tesla logo cord holder.
Jun 1, 2016
Neuromancer This is what I'm going to do. I've already followed Btrflyl8e's advice and read and watched everything I can get my hands on. I have an electrician coming today to look at the power, and then I plan to take the renovation of the garage on as a challenge to distract me. I don't know if I have any skills that would translate to a consumer product thought... Lol.
The garage project does seem suspiciously similar to expecting parents channeling their anticipation into painting and decorating the baby's room. This only further makes me suspect Tesla has induced psychological imbalance.
Jun 1, 2016
Piney999 Careful with this one. I had the same plan, and then the electrician was done in about 2 hours, and I was back to waiting. You need milk the garage prep as long as possible!
Jun 1, 2016
Btrflyl8e It's called "nesting", and we've all done it while awaiting delivery!
Read the manual again. And again.
Jun 1, 2016
Joules Verne THIS!
Exactly!
Jun 1, 2016
Joules Verne Might as well share my obsession.
Not exactly a showroom, but it's mine. Tesla colors. Had fun making the Tesla sign.
Hanging those channels and cabinets took way longer than expected - but no car yet, so...
The NEMA 14-50 outlets are by the bay doors, and the electricians banged those out in a morning.

Jun 1, 2016
STbreaker Have fun! I'm pretty sure you can handle painting/storage but here's a site with some good info on floors: All Garage Floors | Garage flooring options, ideas, and tips
Might do some tiles myself... will look much better during winter - at least that's the excuse I'm using
Jun 2, 2016
Neuromancer Very cool! How on earth did you make the sign?
Jun 2, 2016
AllChargedUp Wow, that looks really good.
Jun 2, 2016
SMPL Im in the same boat - 30 year old business owner and have owned Subaru, scion, Nissan, dodge, Volvo, Mercedes, Toyota, and jeep vehicles .... 10 in total in 10 years - I'm a car addict but in the last 4 months have been a tesla addict .... Pick mine up the week of the 13th of June in Toronto. Driving my wife absolutely nuts with tesla banter daily but she's starting to get excited herself !! I keep telling her I'm going to keep my 70D for 8 years (or until I can afford a P100DL) HPWC is installed, driveway is swept (no garage) - just need to get a "tesla only" parking sign and I'll be ready for its arrival !!!
Can't come quick enough now.
Thanks everyone for their stories and updates.
Jun 2, 2016
Joules Verne Thanks! I had a lot of time to ponder how to attack that one.
Got a decent (smooth) piece of plywood, sanded it.
Applied grey prime, then 5 coats of Benjamin Moore neon red (official tesla color).
Got this vector file:
Tesla | Brands of the World | Download vector logos and logotypes
Had a sign shop cut it from 1/4 inch white acrylic (to my specified size).
Used 3M double sided foam tape to adhere logo/text to the board.
Bolted it to my garage wall.
Bring on the car (next week BTW)!
I showed it to the boys at my local Tesla store, and they loved it.
Of course, they know our breed by now.
We're somewhat infatuated with the brand, and are prone to do loopy things.
Jun 2, 2016
Joules Verne I'll also add, my wife loves it too. That's a bigger accomplishment than the sign project itself.
Gotta love a woman who supports yor passion.

Jun 3, 2016
Neuromancer In what is clearly a cyber-defense response to the strain I was placing on their web servers, Tesla informed me this morning that my Model S has entered production!!!
I would also note my DS has been super responsive (only initiated two email conversations with him, honest!). He told me last night the car should finish up production next week and be on a truck to Nashville.
I confirmed on 5/18 with S/N 1442xx
Clearly, the Tesla end of quarter expediency is legit. Happy, happy!
Now I'm off to try prepare the nursery... Uh... I mean garage.
Jun 6, 2016
Neuromancer Got the update below today from my DS. I wanted to mention that I've heard others express concern with their DS not communicating, but mine has been excellent. He responds same day every time I've emailed him.
"Mini-update: your Model S has made it through paint and is now in assembly this is where the magic happens! Will keep you posted on continued progress."
So excited!!! Working on the garage now... Oh, and investigating solar. Tesla is the energy gateway drug...
Jun 6, 2016

Neuromancer Nice floor!
Mine has finished production and shows in transit, but sill has a two week delivery window (June 18 - July 2).
I have been refinishing the garage, building a new driveway, power washing everything... I am about out of distraction techniques.
Jun 12, 2016
STbreaker Thanks! It took a bit of neurosis to design: the tiles came in boxes of 30 and I didn't want to waste, so I had to find a way to equal it out. I managed to do it with only a few red tiles extra.
I have the same 2 week window as you, but mine still says in production, so I'm just trying to pretend like the first week isn't a possibility
If you look on those shelves, I bought a whole bunch of cleaning/maintenance supplies. I've moved on to practicing detailing techniques on my wife's car (never had leather interior on my other cars).
Jun 14, 2016
Neuromancer So, production completed last week, but my delivery date has not narrowed from the original 2 week window. Does this get updated on MyTesla by folks in Fremont, or by my DS?

Neuromancer Beautiful! Love the color (the car, not the floor)
Would you be interested in making/selling another one of those signs?
Jun 14, 2016
Joules Verne Thanks. Glad you like the sign. It was a labor of love as I waited for delivery, enjoyed the project, but couldn't see myself making another one. I posted the basic steps on post #76. If you'd like more details, I'd be happy to share.
Jun 16, 2016
Neuromancer Argh!!! It appears my poor 75D has been sitting in Fremont for almost a week now waiting for someone to notice it and put it on a truck. This is the worst part of the wait so far because it feels so pointless and wasted.
Waiting in queue for production? Makes sense.
The days of angst while the car goes through production? Exciting and totally understandable.
Anticipating as the transport truck drives across the US? Tough, but what else are you gonna do if you can't pick up in Fremont.
Knowing the beautiful car is done, and just sitting there waiting for someone to notice it and start inching it toward me? Excruciating and senseless. Senseless like throwing trash into the sea or killing kittens.

Btrflyl8e I'm getting ready to have some "firsts" with mine now. Tomorrow I'm washing it for the first time. Taking it to duPont Cars & Coffee Saturday for the first time, and I'm going on it's first road trip right after C&C, driving from Tampa to Charlotte! Good thing I got my registration and tag today!

STbreaker Kinda ridiculous how much I've done for a car I don't even have yet.
DTE (energy company) came and installed the actual second meter for my NEMA and PEV rate. Already set up an appointment for Xpel full front and Opticoat pro. Already talked to tinting shop. Trunk organizer, interior lighting upgrade, and floor mat upgrade patiently waiting in the closet (unlike me).
Pickup appointment scheduled for June 24th @ 1500

Neuromancer Good prep work STbreaker. All garage and driveway work for me so far.
What trunk organizer did you go with?
My stupid delivery window remains the same two week eternity up to July 2, but my DS told me today the car is in Texas (headed to Tennessee) so hopefully getting a real delivery target soon.

STbreaker Amazon.com: Rola 59001 M.O.V.E. Rigid-Base Trunk Organizer: Automotive
Supposed to fit right into the footwell in the trunk.

nikielizabeth This thread is awesome for two reasons:
1. Good to know I am not the only one
2. Makes my psychosis seem average at times![]()
I am T-7 days until I take possession of my Tesla. Since I tried to give them all my money I have:
- Named my car (Tessie)
- Prepped the garage as if I was a nesting, expectant mother
- Already have set rules and guidelines with the husband about his limited use of the car
- purchased numerous items for Tessie, to include a key fob holder, center console piece from Evannex, dog liner for back, etc
- told absolutely everyone about my purchase with zero shame
- convinced two people to buy one
- alienated 1/2 of my friends
- have drooled over the pictures at least a dozen times a week
- planned out 20+ road trips that surely I will not be able to take time off of work to actually do.
- read TMC forum like it was the news
Not normal, but I have zero damn shame about it, and I am sure that when I plop my happy butt down into that magnificent vehicle, it will take an act of God to get me out.
Thanks to all of you for making my obsession seem a little bit more normal.
Jun 20, 2016
Neuromancer Agreed... this site has become something akin to a 12 step program... be sure to post pics of Tessie when she arrives.
Also, those were clearly friends you don't need; consider it a healthy culling of the herd.
Jun 20, 2016
nikielizabeth Haha...So true.
Forgot that I ordered the Matchbox version of Tessie. It showed up today (unlike my actual Tesla), and my husband just stared at me like I officially lost my damn marbles.
I am starting to believe that Tesla has all of our cars ready right when we buy them, and they make us wait just to torture us as some sick joke. I also believe that our anxiousness lowers our inhibition to control our spending and we end up buying EVERYTHING Tesla while we wait....

Neuromancer Arghhh! DS told me it was in Texas Friday... today, he tells me it's in Missouri. The driver is taking a zig zag path similar to a drunken pedestrian bumping into walls and streetlights.
It seems to most important implementation of true autopilot autonomy should be the Tesla delivery vehicles themselves.
I am going to request the driver be drug tested when he arrives.
(yes, I know it's actually because they are accommodating other deliveries, but I can still vent... even if I am being innacurate and inane).

Vent away! I have a feeling we have all been there - pushing aside common sense and focusing only on the fact that our Tesla is not in our grubby little hands. I email my DS every other day inquiring about status. I am pretty sure he has blocked my email / phone number by now (and I cannot say I blame him). It is borderline debilitating.
On a side note, I am supposed to get my Tesla on the 27th, and then I leave for a 3.5 week work trip on the other side of the world...leaving behind my new baby. I am at the point where I have to decided on one of the following choices:
1. leave it at home for my husband and step-kids to use (and park close to other cars, eat/drink in, breathe on...)
2. leave it at home and take the key fobs 'accidentally', relegating them to the use of an ICE for the duration of my trip
3. drive my Tesla to the airport parking garage and park as far away as humanly possible from any other car, but know that it is much safer than it would be near my husband/kids....
This car is making me a bad person...
Jun 22, 2016
SGordon Tessie will be safer at home than at the airport. Put her in Valet Mode so there will be no fun for whoever trying to take her out for a run!
Jun 22, 2016
Neuromancer Wow, I thought I had it bad because I leave for a week long vacation at the start of July, presumably just a couple days after receiving my baby. 3.5 weeks? Rough.
It's clear none of your three options are drastic enough. No half measures should be taken here... Decisive action is warranted.
It is perfectly clear to me that the right thing for you today is to rent a climate controlled storage unit under an alias (family can be sneaky...keep them off balance), and lock her up tight. Take an Uber from there to the airport.
Problem solved.
Jun 22, 2016
STbreaker I tried not to be an obvious pest with my DS by emailing him with status updates he probably didn't need. Then he was forced to answer almost out of human courtesy, ha!
- NEMA installed -> email
- redid garage floor -> email
- Called to talk to financer -> email
- added to auto insurance policy -> email
- Printed insurance card -> email
Friday seems really far away right now...
As far as your dilemma, I definitely agree that you should probably find a private storage unit, but you at least have gotta do #2.
Jun 22, 2016
Rapport Thanks for normalizing my nervous obsessive craziness. Confirmed my order nine days ago and not sure how I can make it to delivery day...
Jun 22, 2016
nikielizabeth Holy crap - I might just be in love with you for telling me that....

YES! I honestly feel like a high school teenager with a crush. It is all-consuming...and I am taking it all out on my poor DS. I stopped covering it up with status updates that should be left for Facebook or Instagram and I just get right to the chase: WHERE IS MY CAR???? (kidding, well...sort of).
Jun 22, 2016
Chopr147 I have been stalling but will order next week after another visit to the Tesla store.
I could not imagine taking delivery after all the obsessive forum reading, emails, shopping for accessories etc....just to go away for a month once you physically have the car
Good luck concentrating on your work
By the way if that picture is you, you are a very pretty woman and seeing you driving a Tesla will make every man salivate

Jun 22, 2016
nikielizabeth Unfortunately my job forces me to travel quite often...if I could drive to where I am going, then I most certainly would. It is going to be absolute torture, and I am sure my credit card will be the whipping boy once again.
Reading these forums I am surprised that people don't drop code after ordering a new one...I have seen some people report 6+ months of waiting. Honestly, there are not enough pints of Guinness to get me thru something like that.
And don't stall - the more days of summer weather w/ your pano roof back and windows down, the better! And being that you are in NY you probably only have a few more weeks left of warm weather...

X-Ki it is, like you say, unbelievable
- named my "Herbie", cause it can drive alone
- been looking how I can make the carport more cosy
- I will drive it, my wife only will drive it when I am not possible, almost dead or something like that`
- tried to not tell to anybody, but is really hard and don' need much to break my "silence"
- have drooled over the pictures at least a two dozen times a week
- planning multiple road trips with friends and without, every goal is good
- read TMC forum like it was the truth ;-)
anyway hoping to enjoy like every one does

Rhyder I thought the Model S order/delivery thread was the most fun, but this one gives it a run for the money!
Btw, regardless of what my wife and friends keep saying, I maintain that I am not obsessed. (And if I were, it doesn't make me a bad guy.)

nikielizabeth Ah, I am old enough to know the difference and to appreciate the kind words.
And yes, I ride. VRSCDX 2008.
Only mode of transportation that I will love as much as my Model S...
