theGshow By my own experience, and a few others on this forum and Tesla's forum, it appears that anticipated deliveries for the next couple of weeks are getting delayed. Anyone have any insight?
I ordered 4/3/14, confirmed 4/4/14, received a VIN on 4/18/14, with a scheduled delivery of May 22, 2014. Upon my prodding, my DS informed me this morning that my deliver (to Costa Mesa, CA) could be delayed by a couple of days. He said he would have a better handle next week "when my car went into production."
Given that it seems to take about 2 days to build an MS, and a day to transport to Southern California, it doesn't look like my original delivery date will happen.
Anyway, just wanted to pick the communal brain of all recent orderees to see if they were experiencing similar delays.
May 14, 2014
Newscutter Scheduled for May 30th delivery.
Expecting to go into production this week but, as of yet, still sourcing parts.
No word from DS about anything extraordinary (yet).
May 14, 2014
Pilot_51 I did notice the delivery estimates on the design studio were recently pushed back by about a month. My first thought was that it's so they can prioritize oversea orders. I don't know if that's related or if my delivery estimated for June 18th would be affected.
May 14, 2014
jrreno My signature says it all. I am getting mine tomorrow supposedly. Inordinately long time from end of production (May 1) to delivery.
May 14, 2014
Tx02Ag Details below. They made up a lot of time quickly. The 7-10 days for transport turned into 3 days. "May be a few days late" became 6 days early.
May 14, 2014
jyinger Ordered 3/31/14 Confirmed 4/4/14 Anticipated delivery date 5/31/14.
Early on my DS said that the delivery (to Costa Mesa) would be late in May. Last week he was more specific--5/31. This week he said that some have come in a bit early, and I might get mine by 5/30. Of course, I'm hoping for 5/21 or 5/14. Oh, no. That would have been today. So probably I will get my car close to the originally projected date.

theGshow Here's a quick update.
So my car went into production early yesterday morning. At that point, I also noticed that I had the option of editing my pick-up date from the originally scheduled May 22, 2014 to an earlier date. So...now I'm scheduled to pick up my beauty on Tuesday, May 20, 2014!
I can barely contain the excitement. Tint and full body clear bra scheduled!

May 16, 2014
GoBlue88 Ordered and confirmed 4/7/14. Delivery scheduled for 5/29/14. Dashboard still says sourcing parts. No change from DS so far.
May 16, 2014
hsctiger93 Ordered and confirmed 3/31/14. Delivery scheduled for Friday, June 6. Still showing Sourcing Parts which based on other posts seems perfectly normal. DS said that some deliveries were coming earlier however he wouldn't know until the car went into production.Working on my Tesla Delivery Playlist now; have the electrician coming next Friday to install 14-50 NEMA. AutoNation is considering the trade in value for my poor old 11 year old BMW (er, I mean perfect-condition fabulous, no faults, dings, or knocks supercar if you're the local AutoNation guy reading!) and I have my financing all set up, ready to sign once we have a final, final number. The stockings are all pretty much hung with care in the hopes young St. Elon soon would be there...

May 17, 2014
Rod85 I just got the call this morning informing me that my delivery date for my S85 is being delayed. Ordered and confirmed 3/31 with May 21st delivery date. Got a call last week to see if I wanted to move up my delivery date, so we settled on 3/19. Now they don't know when I can get the car. The DS told me she would call me on Monday with an update.
May 17, 2014
cpa I confirmed April 3 for delivery May 21 (S85). Submitted all my paperwork timely to the DS. Did not hear a word, so I emailed him this past Wednesday (one week before scheduled pick up time at the factory). He telephoned a few hours later and said, that they probably could finish the car by the 21st, but Friday the 23rd would be safer.. So, our car got pushed back two days.
The dashboard changed to "in production" late Thursday afternoon.
May 18, 2014
GinoG Confirmed 4/6, into production 5/14, dashboard showed scheduled for delivery end of day 5/16. Original delivery date was 5/28, but trying to get to NM next week, before Memorial Day. Otherwise will be a looooong weekend!

clymar541 Good Luck on your delivery date.
Ordered my S85 March 14,2014 vin #efp37460 first delivery dated May than within a few days late April than May 12,2014. Well May 12th has come and gone but no car.
The new date was first May 19, than change to May 22,2014 just in case they did not get the car to Costa Mesa over the weekend. By the way i have already had to make the first payment to B of A for a car I do not have. My bad for having faith that car company run by a man who ships cargo to the spacestation could deliver a car 406 mile in two months.
So like i said good luck with that date

bonaire Why are you making a loan payment when you don't have a car? Someone reported doing this last quarter at the end of the quarter when JP Morgan initiated their loan early - maybe to get the "sale" done within Q1 within the bank and at Tesla.
May 19, 2014
GoBlue88 Heard from my DS a couple of days ago. Says that 5/29 still looks good, and maybe 1-2 days early. Dashboard still says sourcing parts.

Kutu I confirmed my S85 order on 3/25 and production was finished over a week ago. I was to pick it up 5/21 in Orlando; yesterday the DS told me the car was on a truck in Texas and delayed my delievery to 5/23.
May 20, 2014
SlyWombat Oh no, got a call today, no delivery tomorrow, headquarters wants vehicles to be checked for a specific quality assurance validation step, no details on what, but it means a delay of a couple of days at this point. Good news is that they will be giving me a loaner until my car is ready.
May 20, 2014
GoBlue88 Wow, giving you a loaner car is really nice.
You guys are making me worried that my 5/29 delivery date might be in jeopardy.
May 20, 2014
SlyWombat Good news, just got a call, original time for tomorrow delivery is all good, my car is clear.
May 21, 2014
tfero3396 It looks like there are some delivery issues according to people on Tesla forum. I have reached out to DS to see if my car is impacted. Here is quote from a forum entry:
RedMS85 | MAY 19, 2014
The wait was finally over and I was scheduled to pick-up my car tomorrow (May 20th). Out of curiosity, I decided to contact my delivery specialist to confirm I was still pick up my car at scheduled date/time. I couldn't get a hold of him and someone from Corporate HQ asked him to give me a call. I finally received a call saying I won't be able to pick up my car tomorrow (even though it's delivered at the service center) due to quality issue! Apparently there are group of VIN numbers that had quality issues and mine is one of them!
- Why do cars leave factory if they had quality issues?
- At what point would delivery specialists have reached out to me proactively to let me know of this news had I not reached out to them myself?

I'm beginning to get nervous......
May 22, 2014
Kutu I'm scheduled to pick up mine tomorrow in Orlando, which is a 3 hour drive for me. I sure hope there is not a delay, as I have ready signed my current vehicle over to AutoNation. I will contact the DS for confirmation.
May 22, 2014
tiblot Yeah ... my car completed production 2 days ago but my DS is not giving me any date whatsoever. Doesn't sound good for me ...
May 22, 2014
JonathanD MyTesla still says June 6. I got approved for financing but haven't gotten the full paperwork yet. Will that come soon?
May 22, 2014
Soothsayer Ordered 4/11, confirmed 4/12. VIN 42473 assigned 4/17. DS' email says to expect delivery on 6/14. Interesting to note that VINs assigned to orders confirmed a few days later than mine are substantially lower than my VIN.
May 22, 2014
tiblot VINs aren't really assigned in order of confirmation. They're sort of assigned in batches. It also doesn't represent order of production.
May 22, 2014
Greyson I just went into production today. Expecting on June 9th, DS says it may be a few days early.
May 22, 2014
jyinger omg--It's done! Now awaiting delivery--which will probably be delayed because of the three-day holiday week-end. So, maybe two or three days before the scheduled delivery, 5/31.

clymar541 First off let me report that May 22 has come and gone still no car, new date May 27. Second because I expected the car May 12 ,close to end of April i applied for auto loan with B of a online its was approved
at 2.00% I accepted. Cashier check made out Tesla was in my hand in couple of days and that how you end up making a May paying for car you do not have.
May 23, 2014
GoBlue88 I'm getting worried with all these stories of indefinite delivery delays. Has anybody taken delivery this week?
My date of 5/29 is still good as far as I know.
- - - Updated - - -
Sly, did you get it?
May 23, 2014
hsctiger93 I think yours and mine were going side by side through the production line! Mine finished at the same time, so I'd guess both cars will get on the same truck.
My DS had a death in the family which has limited his ability to respond regarding delivery dates. I'm still stuck on the MVPA with the trade in through Auto Nation. Can't get a hold of those people either.
I know this will sound like I don't trust the company or the process, but does Tesla have a history of using cars to be delivered as 1-week loaners before the official delivery date?
May 23, 2014
clymar541 Did you pickup your car
May 24, 2014
jyinger She's here!! In Orange County, that is. Delivery expected later this afternoon. But.....the guys don't have enough time to get her ready for me today, they're closed on Sunday, and on Monday, the holiday, and they still need a day to get her ready. So....Wednesday. But that's still three days early. Better that having her arrive late, right?.
May 27, 2014
Scothawk Well, I am scheduled for June 6th delivery but My Tesla dashboard still says"sourcing parts".......
May 27, 2014
tiblot Don't worry about it. It'll likely goto production very soon. You DS can give you a prod date.
May 27, 2014
yobigd20 fyi per a local NJ owner, there was a complete delivery halt for all vehicles across the board as there was a quality check that needed confirmation by the supplier for the metal crossbar that sits behind the dashboard. today this owner just received confirmation from Tesla that the vendor gave the ok and now all cars are being released to customers. they did it as a precautionary measure till they received official word from the vendor. again word of mouth from another owner seems legit dunno if this was the same delay for everyone.
May 27, 2014
GoBlue88 Mine said "sourcing parts" until 8 days before my delivery date.
Heard from my DS today that my Thursday delivery date is confirmed.
May 27, 2014
JonathanD Tentative date for me is still 6/6. DS said to wait until month end to see how next batch is shaking out, there definitely seems to be an awareness to which month they are making the delivery in, it's not a smooth timeline.
May 27, 2014

AndroidDream So last week I got an email from my DS saying I just wanted to let you know your Model S is going through Paint. The next morning my Dashboard said In Production. Just a few days later it changed to Being prepared for pickup or delivery. I was told a while back that delivery would probably be the week of June 2[SUP]nd[/SUP], even though my dashboard still says Late May. I dont have an exact date yet. I know I should be excited, and part of me is, but Im mostly sick with anxiety over how to care for the car. This car is so far above and beyond anything Ive ever driven. My current vehicle is an almost three year old mid level Town & Country minivan with 86k miles. Thats all I own. Im a single dad with three young teenage boys and a full time job, car care is very low on my list of priorities. Im afraid Ill be constantly stressed over trying to keep my new car looking new. They throw a lot of rock salt and dirt on the roads around here during winter, and my kids have friends down miles of dirt back roads. I think I need a full Xpel wrap, but Im having a hard time stomaching paying over a months salary for it. Im also having no luck finding a good place near me to do it, or one that will also do any needed detail prep work. Theyll wash the car, but any detail work will have to be done somewhere else. I cant get any recommendations on where to go. Even Xpel support hasnt replied to my email asking for help. I never even knew there was such a thing as paint protection until I started reading this forum. This whole thing has made me just sick. I cant even check my dashboard for delivery updates anymore, because it upsets me to see that beautifully rendered car staring at me. I dont know what I was thinking, someone like me owning a car this nice.
May 28, 2014
karmamule AndroidDream, I kind of know what you mean. I just ordered, but definitely had a moment or three of "Holy crap WTF did I just do?!?!", but I got over it because I reminded myself of all the great advantages the model S has. I also wen through a phase of OMG I MUST OPTI-COAT/XPEL, but then remembered how every other car I've owned has gone:
I get it in pristine shape, drive it for x days/weeks and eventually see that first nick/scratch/ding/imperfection and it's painful. But, assuming it's nothing major, it rapidly becomes one of those little things that make my car feel like *my* car and I don't mind it that much.
I suppose it depends on your personality type, but keep your eye on all the things you're getting above and beyond any sort of cosmetic perfection, and ENJOY that!!! So many things to look forward to: clean/quiet transportation, that gorgeous touchscreen, vastly superior range to any other BEV out there, fantastic amounts of cargo area, rocketship-like acceleration and so much more. Don't obsess about future minor imperfections, enjoy all the massively great features/characteristics of your new car!
May 28, 2014
GDH Tomorrow, i bet you are super excited!
May 28, 2014
Pilot_51 I'm feeling much the same way about caring for mine. I'm not a car guy, caring for the paint on a car isn't something I thought I'd ever need to do since my experience has been that car paint holds up very well with the only care being an occasional wash. Model S seems to be one of the only exceptions. Assuming I go with paint protection, I need to figure out what to get, where to get it, and how to fit it into my financial plans. I have a few other anxieties, being my first car and all, but this one is up there. I'm still not entirely sure if it was the best decision, but too late to worry about that now, the best car in the world is going to be mine in about 3 weeks.

DITB Hong Kong is finally getting orders delivered starting in about a month and a half, as it looks. Mine (non-Signature), probably into August, though always hoping sooner rather than later. These are the RHD models finally being produced, and this could eventually have an impact on US domestic orders?
I thought the US market cooled down a bit, so it might not really be much of a factor, but there are probably 500+ Model S RHD waiting to be delivered in Hong Kong, and this even before any car has yet been delivered.
Consider er the population being less than 10 million here, you could compare this to the Los Angeles area alone, both with respect to population and area. Imagine 500 Model S going to just LA!

Can you log in to your car yet via the app?
May 31, 2014
Pilot_51 According to the delivery FAQ:

May 31, 2014
Greyson I can confirm. My Model S is somewhere in Iowa for the night (DS pinged it for me) and I cannot connect to it. They don't enable the app connection because they're worried about customers doing stuff like honking horns and opening sunroofs; though it would be easy enough to disable control, there's also the secondary security reason. Being able to track the vehicle on the truck before it's paid for could become a sticky situation in the wrong hands.
