ggbjr Just got another surprise. Now I can pick up the car tomorrow, instead of Saturday (which was already a week early). I almost feel bad after reading months of horror stories about delivery dates being pushed back weeks!

Dec 5, 2013
e4chan I think you will find a huge push for December to close out the year/quarter strong.
Dec 5, 2013
Canuck I wonder if the year/quarter revenue is based on the order date rather than the delivery date? The reason I ask is that I test drove one yesterday and I was told if I place my order before Dec. 31, the "Destination and Regulatory Doc Fee" of $1,170 in Canada will be waived. I was also told it's the first time that Tesla has ever done this type of promotion. So I'm thinking sales/revenue is countered when the order is placed and not when the vehicle is delivered.

*counted (not countered).... I can't find the "edit post" button on this forum - does it exist?

N4HHE Its surprising sometimes what you find around Huntsville/Madison. Then again the first Tesla I saw live was at the service center for my test drive. My first Volt was one of the few times I have ever been to Ridgecrest, CA.

shepali Sigus - Based on how close your and my VINs are, I wonder if they group them by delivery location (ie we're both in Scottsdale) - though, I don't really understand how/why that would be relevant, but just a thought! p.s. look fwd to seeing you around town!

Peter_M T minus 12 hours!! Delivery is tomorrow at the Montreal Service Centre. The drive home could be interesting if we leave it too late - here's the forecast (temps in [SUP]o[/SUP]C):
Winter storm watch in effect. Increasing cloudiness. Snow and blowing snow beginning late in the afternoon. Wind becoming east 30 km/h gusting to 50 late in the afternoon. High minus 18. Wind chill minus 30 in the afternoon.
?
At least the wind will be behind us . No issue with range though - the drive is about 230km.
I'll post pictures!
Wish me luck with sleeping...

Dec 14, 2013
Peter_M The day has arrived! I couldn't be happier - the car is gorgeous, flawless, exciting, amazing
The delivery experience was great - I was the only delivery today in Montreal so it was a relaxed pace, friendly and informative. Thanks to Eric, Eric and Cathy!
We beat the storm home and arrived home with 100km of range to spare so it was a really nice day all around. The car came with 1.49.30 firmware, we got 236 Wh/km averaging around 90 km/h on the way home in -18[SUP]o[/SUP]C weather. The side windows fogged up whenever the defroster wasn't on, but it was a comfortable drive.
I forgot to take a good picture of the Tesla wheel cap stickers, but you can see them in the last 2 pictures.
Now I have to give it up for a few days on Monday to get the XPEL wrap done :frown:

I did have to think about it a minute because usually I don't change once my mind is made up. Forgo the training, save driving 180 miles there and 180 miles back, and get it 2 days earlier? OK!

Dec 19, 2013
crmohler Yep! I finally got the "Your Model S is being prepared for pick-up or delivery" this afternoon and my DS said that the car was loaded onto the truck at 2:45 today and will arrive at the SD center tomorrow and prepped in the am for my 12:30 pick-up. They're even sending a car to pick me up at the dealer where I'm selling my current vehicle.
The home solar was approved for use today and turned on and started generating power a few hours ago!
Have you heard from anyone recently? I wonder if they schedule delivery appointments on Sunday in case yours is ready early?
Dec 19, 2013
rickbecker No news on my end...I'll be cheering your delivery tomorrow. What design did you choose? I'll be looking for your car around San Diego.
Who did your solar?
Dec 19, 2013
crmohler California Premier Solar installed our panels. I've been extremely happy with them. They aren't the cheapest but they definitely seemed the most knowledgable and weren't intimidated by our clay tile roof. Plus their electricians installed my 240v for just $300 for me.
I went with the 60 since I've only driven over 150 miles in a day once in the past three years. I'm hoping I made the right choice there. Grey metallic, black textile (again, hoping I made the right decision, but my 3 kids have been hard on the leather in my past few cars), piano, pano, rear facing seats, tech, power folding mirrors and parking sensors.
My neighbor has blue metallic and it's beautiful. Adding my metallic grey, our neighborhood will have every color represented except green and silver!
I'll scour the delivery center for VINs tomorrow, but I bet you're is in production for a day or two more. Don't worry, the last few days seem to go fast!
Can't believe I pick up tomorrow. I hope the rain is gone by then!
Dec 20, 2013
crmohler Oh My Gosh, there's an Accept Delivery button on my dashboard! 3 hours to go!
Dec 20, 2013
rickbecker It looks like you are 2 hours from delivery!! I will include California Premier Solar in the mix as I also have a clay tile roof.
I have not seen a Model S in my neighborhood but if I mount a gun rack in the back window I'll fit in. :scared:

Dec 20, 2013
crmohler It'll be awesome being the first on your block and not the 4th! That's funny about the gun rack. At least if martial law is imposed you'll know that your neighborhood is well armed and prepared...
I just got a call that my car is still traveling through LA and it "won't be as clean as we would like when you get it". They said that I can bring it back for a full detail. I have to pick up my kids at 2:30 and will be turning in my other car today, so I think I have to pick it up regardless....

crmohler I got it!

![]()
The car actually arrived on the transporter after I did, and the service center worked like mad to get the car charged a bit (to 107 miles), washed (with a promise to detail next week) and get me out in time to pick up my kids. Everyone was incredibly nice and helpful, and really eager to make it the best possible experience for me that they could. The pick up location was at a different site than usual as they are so busy this month that they needed additional space. There were about 20 Teslas there and they said they plan to deliver 50 from the San Diego center this week alone!
First impressions: the grey metallic color totally exceeded my expectations. Photos don't do it justice. In the lights of the service center I thought it was blue. I'm really happy with it. Same with the black textile seats. I have only had leather recently, but decided to try the textile since my kids have been hard on the leather. The textile seats are great, and there are still baseball stitching details in the car that make it feel high end. I'm extremely glad that I added on the power folding mirrors because I would have had a lot of trouble backing into my garage without them.
There are two things I'm not sure of at this point. I don't love the piano black, but I didn't really like any of the other trims, so I still think that was the right choice. I think the piano may grow on me. The other thing is that I wish the rear camera/parking sensors had the lines that show when you back up. I'm used to the lines from my previous cars and it's really hard to back into my garage without them because it's so tight. That being said, the parking sensors seem to work great in the front and back.
There's definitely a period of adjustment with being so low to the ground. I'm used to the seats in a Land Rover. Looking up to other cars on the freeway and sitting with my legs straight out is different, but I find the seats themselves very comfortable. I was worried about being in a rush to pick up my kids and having the adjustment period getting used to the acceleration and braking, but it wasn't tough at all (except when I had to figure out how to get the handles to present themselves to my kids in the pick up line at school!).
I'm really glad I got the pano roof. I had it open the whole time I was driving. The headroom is much less on this car than I'm used to, so it's great to have the open feel up top.
Both of my younger kids love the rear facing seats so far. I do think I may have to tint the back windshield for the summers, though. My 11 year old insists on riding back there, even though he's 5' tall and over the weight limit. No trouble so far with motion sickness.
The car drives like a rocket. The 60 is more than enough car for me. I didn't come close to maximum acceleration as it felt like I was on a roller coaster! All of the controls were really intuitive and I found the GPS fine so far. I had no idea what to do when I walked out of the car and the handles didn't retract, so I just kept walking and kept my fingers crossed that they would eventually disappear and the car would lock.
The My Tesla app took just under 5 hours to show up, so I haven't gotten to play with that yet.
I still have to figure out the alarm function. It was set to Off by default, so I need to figure out the details there.
All in all, I definitely have the Tesla grin and can't wait to figure out where to drive tomorrow. It's so exciting to think that I don't have to go to a gas station!
Dec 20, 2013
RAM_Eh Picking up mine at 10 am tomorrow. Freezing rain in Toronto all night. Hope the roads are clear in the morning.
Dec 20, 2013

Dec 22, 2013
crmohler Tomorrow's your day!!! What time are you picking up?
Dec 22, 2013
rickbecker I pick up at noon. I am excited  and have spent the day getting prepared for tomorrow. I hope I can sleep tonight! My car will be charged to 200 rated miles and ready for a mini road trip. I'll have my son, grandson, and two friends to help me with the check list and then we'll be on the road...possibly to check out the Hawthorne super charger.
Dec 23, 2013
crmohler Can't wait to hear your first impressions and to see PHOTOS! Congratulations!
Dec 23, 2013
rickbecker
I arrived at the Tesla pick up point promptly at noon. After the orientation and document signing I went on a 270 mile road trip. First stop was Culver City in LA to run an errand. I then went to the Tesla Super Charger in Hawthorne. I charged the car to 235 miles while I got a bite to eat and then returned to my home east of El Cajon.
I love driving this car. The low center of gravity makes it hug the road and it just seems to glide smoothly along. The instantaneous power available at all speeds gives you the feeling that you own the road.
Dec 24, 2013
Chipper Congratulations! She is beautiful! (And I am not saying it because she looks just like mine!) And oh, you DO ya know...you DO own the road! Nothing can take it away from you!
Dec 24, 2013
crmohler Congratulations!!!!! Sounds like an awesome day worthy of the wait!
It's been an interesting few days for me, and I'm guessing it will be for you, too. In life, often when we have high expectations, we are disappointed (think about a great movie you've heard about, or Christmas Day, or an event built up in your head). I spent so much time waiting for this car (11 weeks), reading the forums and developing such high expectations, I was sure I'd be disappointed in some ways. Yet the car has surpassed my lofty expectations. That doesn't happen often in life. Sure, there are a few things I'd change (vents to the rear facing seats, guide lines on camera view when backing up), but those few items on the wish list don't stop me from being spellbound at what this company has achieved. The car is just amazing.
Dec 29, 2013
ColinM Finally the wait is over. Tomorrow morning I get mine. To say I am excited is a little bit of an understatement.

Dec 30, 2013
rickbecker Congrats to you, also! My detailer told me to keep the "California Duster" handy which I will gladly do to keep it sparkling. I am so glad that I chose the Blue Metallic!!
Dec 30, 2013
crmohler Any surprises so far?
Are you considering tinting the windows? I need to tint the rear window because there's no ventilation in the back for the rear facing seats. I found a name on the So Cal forum at teslamotors.com, but the guy hasn't called me back and his email doesn't work.
Let me know if you know of anyone in SD.
Dec 30, 2013
gpetti That's exactly how I feel. When I was a kid I used to read store catalogs in anticipation of whatever I had asked for. Now I spend every day on this forum or looking up videos, articles, etc. living vicariously through everyone else's deliveries. Looks like if I'd held out ordering I might have got the incentive you got but at this point they could have charged me more to get the car earlier and I probably would have agreed(hope no one from delivery is reading this)

Dec 30, 2013
rickbecker Surprises: I am surprised that my grin has not left my face! I drove my LEAF the other day in ECO and was surprised to find that single pedal driving is much easier for me in the Model S. I enjoy having the Model S virtually stop itself with regen in low. I was pleasantly surprised at the useful functions of the Tesla app on my iPhone and iPad. (Visible Tesla appears to have much more functionality...I need to figure out how to install that.) I am surprised at my restraint when approached by ICE muscle cars wanting to race. I am so thrilled to be driving this car and that is not a surprise!!
I have considered tinting the windows, but heat is not a factor since 99% of the time I am the sole occupant. I like the tints I have seen on TMC but I think that a tint would detract from the overall look I want to achieve. I chose my options to maintain what I think is the elegant understated design of the car. The standard wheels, Grey Nappa Leather and the Piano Black, all seemed to fit the design simplicity without making a statement of their own.
I learned of the detailer that I used from Randy Schimka (SDG&E) who has used his services for many years, most recently on his LEAF and Model S. The detailer, Jim Sadler, of ULtra Protective Systems, (858) 565-7876, has good tinting contacts.

mevans Wow this is a cool design - post pics when you get it!
- - - Updated - - -
So Shepali VIN numbers are chronological in terms of production, so the reason why you and Sigus' numbers are so close together is because both your cars were ordered on the same day and probably confirmed around the same day! Super interesting stuff!!
