However this setting is turned on, with the density of water and its effect on the car's drag, this is really going to really put a damper range. :crying:

Here's the full screen...maybe a hint? They also said it came out in v5.9 which was a year ago!

I am surprised the beta testers didn't catch that submarine mode would be allowed with the driver door open. Fail!
  • Feb 26, 2015
    yobigd20
That doesn't mean it's legit at all. All that tells me is that they thought it was a cute photoshop joke.

If this turns out to be real that is awesome, i would love to know how it was done. I believe the temp being set to lo has something to do with the easter egg, which makes me think maybe there is another Easter egg when you set the temp to to Hi. Like a SpaceX rocket being displayed or something.

Someone try using the same settings and see if that activates it. I can't since I don't have a suspension tab (coils).

I really wish programmers who feel the desire to put Easter eggs in programs would stop to ask themselves whether it makes the program better or worse.

Actually just figured it out after I saw the instagram pic, and took the 007 code guess (tried some other stuff first) before I saw this post. Fun Easter egg.

Don't think you have to press time or anything, just hold the T, enter 007, hit OK, then go to the suspension menu.

Since leagues is a measure of distance rather than depth, it makes me wonder how fast the car can do the Kessel run.

Ughhh. Now I have regret on running with the coil suspension. Sadly I can confirm it only works with air suspension....

Wonder what other "famous numbers" we should try entering into the code field?

24601 - maybe the car will enter musical mode and sing to us?

4815162342 - Not sure I want to tempt fate with that one...

This is awesome!!! Absolutely the funniest, cleverest thing I've ever seen on a car. I just giggled and laughed all the way home. I love Tesla! I love Elon! Only Tesla would do something like this. Absolutely awesome!!!!

There is another thread about this Easter egg and a post which states "You can access the easter egg by holding down the "T" at the top of the screen and entering the code "007". You can then see the easter egg in the suspension settings.".
  • Feb 26, 2015

    The obvious question is:
How do you turn it off?
I tried various codes etc. and cannot get it to revert
  • Feb 26, 2015

Yup, and it would have saved me from scratching the underside of my car while getting off of a ferry...

Reboot center screen (hold scroll wheels)

  • Feb 26, 2015

I did try to repeat the 007 - first time loaded the 'big wheel' and the second time brought back the sub - so toggle didn't seem to work. I'll try rebooting

    What about 8675309?
  • Feb 26, 2015
    HankLloydRight
    How about 867-5309?

Or just "42". That HAS to do something.

Hmmm.. trying to decypher your number. You've got the November part right ("11").. and the year ("1955") right... I guess the "12" is the date that Marty went back to the future, but the better date would really be November 5, 1955 ("11051955") when Doc originally invented the flux capacitor.

Now the 11 could still mean November.. and then "121" means 1.21 Gigawatts, but what does "955" mean?

    :)

Nov 12 1955 (courtesy a lazy Google image search - turns out that was when Biff went back to in BTTF 2). But you are right, Nov 5 would have been better!

Doesn't a full keyboard show up? I don't why we would be restricting it to number codes. Could be alphabetical as well.

up up down down left right left right B A select start?

  • Feb 27, 2015

Ummm... how do you get the keyboard to come up when you're pressing the "T" ?

Thing I want to know is how in the world did Jalopnik beat us all to this? And it's been around since 5.9?
  • Feb 27, 2015
    scaesare
It occurs to me that I believe 5.9 is also the release where the car animation when bringing up the Tesla "T" info screen no longer worked. (Door opening, brake lights illuminating, etc...). Changes such as that may be our tip off if there's a new easter egg in the future.

Does the Easter Egg showing the Tesla employee group picture still work? I'll have to test...

Hold down the Tesla "t" at the top middle of the dash. You will get a prompt for a technician"s code so type in "007" then return to suspension screen! To get rid of it, reboot the dash. -Diana

    Gee ...

I can get a picture of the Tesla staff and a picture from a car from a near 40 year old movie ...

But I can't get a picture of my contact to appear in the embedded photo placeholder on my 2012 Model S ...

    Isn't that special. :cursing:
  • Feb 27, 2015

No reboot needed. Close controls, repeat the T process and it goes away. To add a giant wheel, do the T with the suspension window open.

    Says introduced with 5.9
Is it still around in 6.1 xx ?
Not near my car to check.
  • Feb 27, 2015

Just tried it with 6.1 - works as shown. You can leave it as it is still functionally the same interface with different labels.

yes, it is still around with ver 6.1 (2.2.140).

Got that too. It took me a few wrong guesses and then the obvious to reset back to normal.
no need to reboot. just close your console and reopen and it clears up the "sub Wheel/car tire change" artifact.
Beat me to it. but maybe it will get Steve841's contact to appear

Not sure if this related to Submarine mode, but I had Submarine mode enabled when I upgraded to .179, then got the message that "Touchscreen needs service" after the upgrade. The touchscreen would not work until after rebooting it, and the warning went away after reboot also.
  • Feb 28, 2015
    AnxietyRanger
To me the wheelwell and large wheel appearing seem bugs related to the toggling of the submarine mode, the suspension UI getting confused about is it displaying the car or the submarine.

The submarine mode works on my .115, I haven't tried toggling it back. Changing setting moves the submarine up and down as reported. Entering JACK mode makes no graphical changes in this mode, other than highlighting the button blue.

I'm amazed this hasn't set off rampant speculation over a Tesla featuring in 007 Spectre. After all, the last 007 saloon was a Ford Mondeo, so the poor guy deserves an upgrade :)
