philiparnason I'm slowly going crazy waiting for this vehicle. I'm an early sig in the 200s. Waiting this long for a car is simply unheard of and tests the limit of any person. I'm beginning to question whether I'm actually in some type of GroundHog-Day scenario where the car will never come, and I will be waiting for all eternity. I propose an action committee for those that have been following this vehicle for an excruciatingly long time, or just have mad interest. In this support group multiple positions are open:
* News Tidbit Stockpiling (Every bit of information no matter how small is parsed and relayed to other team members, live blogged)
* Spy - This is a lone post located primarily onsite in Freemont. This person will take the Tesla tour every single day and blog about the experience for benefit of the other team members. As you are there every day, Tesla employees will soon begin to think of you as a fellow employee, and may share additional Model X details. On days the tour is not offered, individual may follow the X transport vehicle to get more spy shots of off-site testing.
* Pub Congregation - The remaining can meet at surrounding pubs to lament the slow news day, explore the sanity levels of others, and invent new posts for the committee.
* Hardware Team - We all take turns in a modified roll cart. When it is your day, you get to ride in the roll cart, and when the words "Tesla: activate autopilot" are spoken by the "driver", the others will begin pushing you around, completely autonomously!

dirkhh Someone remind me - how long did the early Sigs for the Roadster wait? How long for the Model S? Is the Model X really longer than that?

eco5280 I found a reasonable solution in purchasing an S85D. I'm still pining after the Model X but I'm distracted greatly by the new car. I highly recommend this as an alternative to pulling your hair out.
Feb 26, 2015
FlasherZ It *is* time to begin thinking about doing the necessary infrastructure work to support Model X, though... clean up your garage, paint the floors and walls, get your friendly neighborhood electrician out to get your prep work done for the wall connector / NEMA 14-50 install, contact your power company to ensure your transformer will be able to handle the load, etc. There are things you can do!
Feb 26, 2015
eco5280 You have a long time to take care of that stuff. You'll have many months of notice before your X arrives. Probably enough time to BUILD a house and garage. I think it's foolish to do this now, you never know what the future holds. Just MyHumbleOpinion.

wheresmyx? If patience is indeed a virtue, then I am also lacking! However, I consider myself fortunate to be in a good enough financial position to be able to purchase this car (res. <1,700). I made my reservation in November of 2012 and joked with the salesperson that I expected my Tesla stock to appreciate enough to pay for the X. (The stock back then was $28.) So I am upset with the multiple delays, but still thrilled with company! In the interim, I'm happy driving my Model X lite (Toyota RAV4 EV).

Then I installed an pay for EVSE at my office 70 amps. (EATON)

bonnie I had the local power company check my distribution transformer before the party last summer & the verdict was I had more than enough capacity for all the charging anticipated ... A 240v/40amp and 240v/70amp ran continuously, plus the amp for the band, power for Solar City display, BBQ truck, lights, and all the mis stuff plugged in. Not even a flicker. anticitizen13.7 If what I'm reading on Wikipedia is accurate, Tesla displayed the Model S prototype on March 26, 2009, and delivered the first production vehicles to customers on June 22, 2012. Total wait time was about 3 years, 3 months. However, keep in mind that the initial production ramp was very slow, so many customers were waiting additional months for their cars.
It's been about 3 years since the Model X prototype announcement.
Few people expected Model X to be this late, which may explain a % of the impatience. The X was supposed to be an "end of 2013" product which slipped to "end of 2014" and now stands at Q3 2015 for initial deliveries.
Feb 26, 2015
Paul Carter +1... actually +1000. I was already pulling my hair out last May. Bonnie's words of having a Tesla while you wait certainly are true and seems plenty of us with a Tesla during the wait. Without it, I may have not been so patient. Nah, who am I kidding...
Us Canadians appear to have to wait a little longer. Read the Form 10-K / Annual Report today and found this at the top of Page 6.
I've put in bold, what I think hasn't been stated before. I know this was done for the S, but was hoping that this was going to be different for the X.
Now I need this support group more than ever or another glass of wine.

While I have 400A service, the transformer is rated at 250V/150A, but he says it'll easily do double that (and my previous 10 kVA transformer will attest to that). Buried service conductors are reasonable up to about 300A as well, he says. I'll give him a run for his money.

O-G I went to the Double Black event in Seattle. For what it's worth, the head sales person there told me the production of the MX would begin in August. He seemed pretty confident of that but of course would not give any guarantee. He would not give any indication of a date for a reveal or if he even knew. It did surprise me a bit that he indicated that the ramp up would be fairly slow. I'm Sig #292 and he implied that I should be in the first 6-8 weeks of production. With dropouts considered, I would have thought that I would be in the first couple of weeks at most.
Apr 4, 2015
dirkhh Based on the overall experience with the reliability of statements by "random Tesla person" (and this includes "head of sales in any region" and actually pretty much anyone not named Jerome or Elon) I wouldn't put too much faith in this...
Apr 4, 2015
timf There's likely some truth to his statements. The last few times I've heard Elon discuss the Model X rollout, he has mentioned that there won't be significant volumes until Q4. Now, what constitutes significant volume is vague, but given Elon's typical over enthusiasm it likely means that only a very small number, say 100 or less, will be delivered in Q3. Given the delayed reveal and the state of the test vehicles we've seen, I think it's a good thing as those early deliveries will essentially be used as a final real-world validation and they'll want to keep the numbers limited should any unforeseen issues arise.
Apr 5, 2015
Bgarret Since this is a support group, I feel OK with complete, unsubstantiated speculation...so here goes -
1. At April 30th announcement Elon announces a "Founders Delivery" for the 1st week of July.
2. At the July event, the X is unveiled and the configuration center is opened on the website (which is immediately crashed by all of us rushing online to configure our Model Xs.....over-and-over)
3. First North America Signature deliveries are mid-late August (in keeping with the fanciful nature of this speculation, Bonnie or Paul realize my birthday is in August and graciously switch reservation numbers with me :tongue.
4. Tesla works to produce and deliver about 2,000 Signature Model X and show room models in Q3 in 8 weeks of production, (100, 100, 200, 200, 300, 300, 400, 400).
5. Tesla moves to more volume production in Q4, this includes Signatures for the rest of the world and the beginning of regular N. American Model X - total Q4 run is 6,000, or an average of about 500/wk (which combines with 12k of S production to meet full year guidance 10,030 Q1, 12,500 Q2, 15,000 Q3 - 13k/2k, and 18,000 Q4 12k/6k for 55,500 delivered in 2015.
6. Tesla exits 2015 at a 2,000/month run rate 1k/1k and I get my Model X (assuming Bonne or Paul don't swap me for theirs) on Groundhogs Day 2016, which allows me to relive the day over and over again a' la' Bill Murray.
Thats is my story...Happy Easter to all

Gary and Rachel Hello, my name is Gary. It's been only 22 days since I placed my reservation. I was at the unveiling of the X the first night it showed in San Jose at the Santana Row showroom. So my wait has been long but sweet. I'll say that my idea was to not be the first but to wait for maybe some of the extras that might be added to the cars later production. Who knew 3 years ago about all the great things that are just now showing up in production. So maybe I will have held off enough to end up with hovering capabilities and 750 mile driving range. Yes, I need the group's help to keep me grounded and I am looking forward to reading the good humor that I have seen here today. I feel lucky to have found this forum only weeks after jumping into the pool. Hope to see you all at the Superchargers in a few years, save a few amps for me.

Gary and Rachel Thank you Paul and Hill, I can see that it will feel like family here with everyone being like minded and willing to invest into something worthwhile. Since the last time here I found myself motivated in finding out more on what's for sure to be fully functional by the time I get my "X" and that's the new upgrade. I have only been in a P85 for a test ride at the factory. But the "D" and the latest upgrade I found I needed to drive again to see for myself. I have found i can rent a Tesla model P85D and will do so soon. To get a chance to drive over 500 miles should help to lock in that "I want one feeling". Meanwhile I am finding much on YouTube to see what life maybe like with one on the plug at home. Thanks for the warm welcome. Gary

Merrill So I have some friends that understand my obsession of owning no ICE cars and having two Teslas in my garage. Then there are some friends that give me this "Really" why question. I know that most people are not interested in cars for anything other than basic transportation, but for me having grown up with cars and having a career in the automotive field cars are way more than just transportation. The opportunity to own an all electric garage is fascinating, and my goal for the future. I really do not try to explain my reasoning behind my quest because I'm not sure most will understand. I think I have gone over the edge on this but in a good way. Looking forward to the Model X.
Jul 21, 2015
adiggs Clearly Merrill, you need a Roadster. There are any number of us that rely on one as a coping mechanism, and I can attest to the quality of coping it provides.
As the car is no longer in production, you'll have to find one used. My reasonably unscientific observation is that there are usually a half dozen or so for sale around the country at any one time. Living in California, you'll have reasonable odds that you'll find one in your state. The key idea is to be thinking in terms of a country wide search rather than a local one, and there will be one out there with your name on it, should a 2 seater sports car be necessary to scratch that itch.
Jul 27, 2015
lucy I only placed my order/reservation at the end of this January, and it seems like forever.
My coping mechanisms so far...
1. Installing photovotaic system to power the mythical MX and my tiny home. Loan money secured for system, awaiting final permits and installation. Until MX arrives, will be selling excess back to the local power monopoly for pennies.
2. Roaming the interwebs for EV/Tesla news.
3. Making shopping lists of MX add-ons (vinyl wrap, charge cords, light kits, etc)
4. Ordered vanity plates - hope the 1st choice comes through, it won't look too weird on my current car XSTATIC
5. Trying to stay off Amazon, saving every penny for the solar panel and car bills to come.
Any other suggestions?
You all have been a great distraction, so glad I finally came over from the more quiet Tesla.com forums to this entertaining group!
Jul 28, 2015
Merrill Your doing all the right stuff, my only solace is that I can drive my Model S. Not sure what I would do if I did not have it. The wait is driving me crazy and my wife says I spend far to much time on this forum.

Paul Carter Got a call from Tesla yesterday. Hello, this is "so and so" from Tesla Motors. Heart starts beating fast and he starts the next sentence with "I'm calling you today to arrange your test drive....". and then he says in Calgary for the Next Billion Tour. DOH. Well at least I know I'll be excited when the sentence ends with Model X.

Jul 31, 2015
bonnie That was just cruel. CRUEL. Their database should let them know you have an early reservation so they could start the sentence with, 'This is NOT about the Model X, I'm calling about ...'. Or maybe they DID know and were just having a bit of fun.
Jokesters!

Paul Carter LOL. After I explained I was already an owner (didn't mention the X res), he was surprised and did apologize. I was telling him that this was reserving a test spot for several friends in the Calgary area that I'm bringing to the event. But boy oh boy, they really should be doing that out of a single source of truth CRM system. Reading that Tesla, I can make that happen for you! HA!

Vger Here is my quandary for the support group: We have a three-car garage and every bay is filled with a Tesla already. We have a Model X reservation (Canada P~700).
The only way I can justify taking delivery on the X is to let go of our dearly beloved Signature Model S, #2 in Canada and #1 in western Canada. It would feel cheap to just trade it in; and that value will not be that high anyway, since it has almost 100k kms on it. We feel like it should have some special home in BC. Any ideas?
Jul 31, 2015
Paul Carter I think a local buyer would be nice. I assume it'll drop to a point where a lucky person could finally pick up a Tesla. Try VEVA maillist and their legacy website listing if you want to keep it in the 'family' perhaps might work.

It's tequila time...
Aug 13, 2015
lucy I find that I'm needing additional support, TMC help me!
1. The theory that the company or people within it are delaying the MX to tank the stock price has lodged in my brain. I shouldn't care, I need every penny to pay for the PV system and the car, none left to gamble on stock anyway, but there it is.
2. The idea that the MX is being held until the auto pilot is "done" hit me last night while reading some random post. While auto pilot would be nice, it's just gravy. Don't make us wait!
3. A story on Teslarati this morning
http://www.teslarati.com/tesla-lower-delivery-guidance-result-model-x-production-delays/
that orders for parts orders have not been placed. In my obsessive skimming of the interwebs my earlier impression was that parts were not available or able to be supplied for some reason. The tone of this article is more that they just have not been ordered, like "whut, we was never planning to crank out a buncha cars, we'z just playin' you"
Thanks in advance...
Aug 13, 2015
NigelM Lucy,
Elon/Tesla was deliberately dampening expectations in the Earnings Report as there's nothing worse than hyping the stock and seeing it plummet when you don't reach stated guidance. The 10-Q obliges (see Part II, Item 1A) companies to acknowledge all risk factors so Tesla would be in big trouble with the SEC if they didn't state that they are dependent upon suppliers who are building new parts.
Anyone who has been expecting a ramp-up from a small number of test cars to 1,000 per week is being ridiculously nave. The ramp will be slow and steady, and it's extremely unlikely that it will reach serious weekly volume until Q1. The Teslarati post is just a rehash of the GCR story which is a rehash of month old rumors on TMC; folks like to extrapolate "hand-built cars" to be some big, bad, thing but I've been happily driving my hand-built early Model S for 3 years now and I'll take one of those first 1,000 Xs quite happily also.
I'm sure the Tesla procurement guys know what they are doing and yes it's quite possible that the bigger orders haven't gone out yet but that is clearly because Tesla (as stated) is testing pilot runs for QA. Again, I have no doubt my Sig X will be of excellent quality and Tesla won't be using rejected parts. Is it possible that some parts fail and that slows production? Sure, but that's the case for every car manufacturer on every build.
Now if Model X gets launched with AutoPilot v.2.0 before the Model S guys get their firmware then there'll be all hell breaking loose over in the Model S section of the forum. But that's no reason to hold back Model X, in fact Tesla would take double the PR hit for being late on both. Tesla will release the beta version of AutoPilot soon (target is 8/15) and we'll see Founders Xs getting delivered later next month.
Stay strong.

Aug 13, 2015
lucy Thanks, NigelM! As you can see, I needed your council and advice.
Aug 14, 2015
schonelucht I believed it as late as July because of Elon saying so in May.
Why would it be naive to believe Elon on the fast ramp up but not on the delivery off the Autopilot or first cars next month?
Aug 14, 2015
NigelM Difference between short and long term perhaps? I may be wrong but I don't recall hearing Elon say they'd get to 1,000 Xs per week in this calendar year.
Aug 14, 2015
schonelucht Elon was talking about a fast ramp up in 2, max 3 months from September onwards as late as half May. That's about the same time frame out as he was claiming first cars by end of this quarter at the last earnings release. Granted the autopilot claims are a bit shorter term, but not by that much. The original plan, still accurate in May, was to exit this year with a run rate of 2000 cars a month, about half split over both models.
