Any Showrooms That Have the 2016 MS part 1

Many of us are curious as to what the "2016 Facelift" actually looks like in person. It looks like they're showing up outside of the US but so far. I haven't found one in the Los Angeles area.

Let's use this thread to locate and list which showrooms get them.

Yesterday I saw a red one in the Dublin, CA showroom.

I would check Century City first, and then Newport Fashion Island for OC... (not that I have, but just guess that would probably be the first stores to get it.)

Tried century city, pasadena and santa monica... nothing yet

All good options... The one in Costa Mesa already has the NEW PICTURES, but not the car yet.

Pasadena had the new interior Wood Trim options but no car as yet.

Burbank finally has an X but no new S.

Santa Monica on 3rd street just got a new Model S with facelift on the floor yesterday. In RED.

Fantastic, I'll go by there tomorrow! Any other locations get one in yet?

    Rocklin, CA had one Monday.

I saw three at the Fremont supercharger yesterday so I'm assuming these are units being delivered to customers. It was morning around 10:00 AM. And when you say 2016, I assume you mean the refresh rather than a 2016 that does not have the new new front.
  • Apr 27, 2016

Wow, that's good news and Yes the new front end thanks

BTW this thread is for everyone so the showrooms can be in any state

    Red in Buena Park!

Connor O'Neill was my advisor for my CPO. Good guy, knows his stuff. He said all California cars come with the front licensed plate mount installed. He showed me how two screws hold it on, in the mouth, and that the top has a couple of pieces of sticky tape. You can easily feel them by just running your fingers under the lip below the frame. So no holes if your remove it.

We were talking, so I forgot to shoot the tail end, but it looks nice. For now I prefer the diffuser on the old S, but by a small margin. The facelift S reads 100% Tesla, just touched up a bit.

In person, the car looks smaller than my S. or the other S that was on the showroom floor. I think the body colored rocker panels create this illusion.

The black Ash, and I thought it looked like Piano Black, actually. I didn't sit in the car long since it made me want to start handing unearned income over the longer I was in it. I have gen 1 seats, so these felt real good. Plus the interior was black on black, which was even more tempting. The only thing I didn't like were the slipstream wheels in person. From a few feet away they look fine, but as you get closer, they look like hubcaps because of the way the molded the wheels. Weird.

It struck me when I first saw your pictures why they would mount a front license plate holder on a showroom car. Perhaps they want the front to look a bit less different from the pre-facelift Model S?

Edit: Seems like this thread has the answer:
Model S Refresh: License Holder Part of Bumper?

My refreshed Model S came out of production yesterday, so I guess focus are on the Europe market right now.

Wish they'd open up Fremont 2 because if those are pre-production cars that caused me to wait 10 minutes to charge, I'm going to be really pissed ;)

I saw a MS and a MX parked next to each other on the street and I really prefer the "classic" MS front end over the new front end. Am I alone in this thinking? Not really a fan of the way the frunk meets the hood on the new design, but I'd take the increased range ;)

went to the Santa Monica location today and saw the "Face Lift" MS up close! its really nice in person and the new headlights are sexy. the center console is much nicer that the original add on much better made. Just like the MX version, the top panel smoothly slides up with minimal effort to reveal a spacious storage area for drinks and/or personal items. when its time to close it, just a slight push of your finger and, the panel automatically slides back to it's original position. The "rear" cup holders, (sorry, nothing in the back seat area) are actually the same ones that are resting under the sliding arm rests.

Something else I found out thanks to Gordon, the new painted rocker panels don't stop on the sides but curve around and continue under the car about 6" or so for a smooth/clean look.

I also ran my fingers under the lip where front license plate is attached, you can feel the 2 screws that hold it in place and they are easily removed for a "clean look". No need to worry, as the screw are so far under the edge you have to get down on the ground and look up to see them. I tried to take a pict but wasn't able to get my phone far enough under to see the screws. IMG_2653.JPG

Was there a sale on red paint or something? Every single car in the stores are red? Not a complaint, merely interesting.

Did you notice how it attaches at the top? I haven't seen any hard evidence from anyone yet! Double sided tape? I guess it is, but straight from the factory it seems like a strange way to secure something to a very expensive luxury car. Bits held on with sticky tape.

It's hard to tell because it is a tight fit. I OK, the way the bracket is mounted, it appears to slide in and up and then basically held in place with the lone 2 bolts/screws at the bottom

Sounds like Elon is taking a page out of Henry Ford's book for the showroom samples..."you can have any color you want, as long as it's RED!"

Was at The Village mall in Corte Madera, CA today and the store there has a Refreshed Red on display. As much as I love the "timeless" design of the Model S, the new coneless nose looks much better, especially seeing it in person.

Tesla corporate color = Red. We had one of the Las Vegas Social events here today. Everything in the store had the new facelifted image, however no facelifted MS at this time. They had a red MX for us to play with, included the new matte wood which looks okay. The dark almost piano black is really pretty, but could be a bit lighter so you can see the grain more. No ETA on a facelifted MS for the store.

I was told by a sales guy a few months ago that Tesla was standardizing on showroom models -- all would be red and have a certain set of wheels and tires (I forget exactly which). That was when the showroom had only Model S. The one Model X I have seen in a store was not red, it was gray or black.
Also, the Dedham (MA) store had a facelift Model S in its back lot today so I would not be surprised to see it in the showroom soon.

image.jpeg Watched the sale men remove the license plate frame at a local Showroom, it's held in place with double sided tape and 2 bolts underneath the front lip. The tape removes relatively easy and the bolt holes are recessed so you can't even tell the plate mount was there.

I was told this AM that the store at the Natick Mall in Natick MA has the facelifted Model S in its showroom (a red one). Dedham MA store should have one in a few days.

Paramus, NJ has them delivering to customers. My DS looked for camera differences on Classic S, preproduction showroom S, and refresh customer S and cannot spot anything visibly different. Also does not appear to be a GVWR difference on 90's or other battery markings that suggest there are 100s tucked away in there.

Try home depot, lowes, sears or the equivalent in your area. Here

You don't have to buy the whole set they sell individual torx sockets. Also, check with Fry's electronics they have the screwdriver version and may go up to the size you need.

Went by Fort Worth, Texas Tesla store Thursday night. It has a red second generation Model S on display. I really like the new nosecone and headlights. Store was closed so I could not see car's interior. Out in the parking lot there were four demo cars, all first gen. Still all great looking rides.

Went to the 'Tesla Social' today at the Burbank location. They have a refreshed red 70D.

The social itself was kinda lame: 1 MX in the parking lot, no M3, and pastries from Vons. Almost forgot, they had a trip planner tutorial before i got there.

Can't imagine its on with a lot of torque, however could have some threadlocker on it. I would assume a vice-grips would work. Granted you may mess up the bolt head somewhat, but shouldn't be too much of a concern.
